DESCRIPTION
Rex and Kaine were chatting one day about space combat when this idea came up. Due to his familiarity with droids Rex and the CIS scientists in his HQ came up with a working idea and prototype. Rex then took it to Mandal Arms to get it mass produced so any CIS ship could have it. However it came with a tag line it needs to be open to the ME as well. Rex didn't see a problem with this as the factions were allies and he was a member for both factions. The Baradium warhead came into play as a part of the new ship hurting weapon. They made the Droid strong against Ion/EMP attacks but kinetic and laser fire will destroy it easily. If it explodes in close proximity to other Boom Boxes it will cause a chain reaction potentially destroying the whole swarm in one.

[member="Rex Taff"], is this something that is going to be launched from ships like a traditional, static space mine? Or is it something that's going to be deployed like more a starfighter?

If this is going to be something that is deployed outside of a normal spaceship (and not count towards it starfighter complement), we typically use the ranged weapon Technology template for things like this then(example here and here).

The one instance where it might make more sense to have this be a ship is if this mine is going to be moving and maneuvering as fast as most starfighters (which I'm guessing isn't the case based on its current ratings).

[member="Rex Taff"], that's fine to keep it here then.

Additionally, you'll want to use the starfighter template rather than the capital ship template. The big difference is that rather than a "hangar", this should have a "squadron count".

[member="Rex Taff"], this is currently about four ratings too high.

While you're welcome to balance this in any way you want (lowering ratings, lowering production, or adding significant weaknesses), one of my suggestions would be to look into lowering its defensive rating to go with the listed weakness of it being vulnerable to laser and kinetic fire.

I would also accept the weakness of something like "single use" as counting towards it balancing scheme.
