The Buy In

“I see.” Danger said with a small nod. Drawing out her datapad, the woman gave Aeron a polite smile.

“Well, with all that in mind, just how long do you reckon this might take?” it was likely going to be a lengthy process. She also would have to review what current contracts Omega Pyre was beholden to.

Speaking of which…

“What are the current contracts Omega Pyre is beholden to?”

The Prex gave a small sigh.

“We have an ongoing contract with the Alliance for the use of our ships and personnel when required. It also turned more than that during the One Sith and what followed with the First Order. However, the bulk of our contracts are also local. “ that might be a concern.

“You could potentially renegotiate with the Alliance for another contract or to figure out just where you would you like the company to be at.”

That was going to require another meeting.

Alric leaned back in his chair.

At this point there was nothing for him to say really, everything from here on was going to be between Omega Pyre and herself. Thus he began to think less about the meeting at hand, and more about the challenge that he had taken up with Danger on the ship.

Caf wasn't the easiest thing to grow, he knew that much, but the Soil back home was pretty good. He would have to get seeds, harvester droids, a few others to help him with everything...Alric was still a capable man, but he was pushing the years in age and it would be best if he himself wasn't toiling around on the ground for ten or twelve hours a day. It would be best to get a few helpers.

Maybe he could rope in some of Myra's friends, they were young and able.

He could call it an internship. That might actually work.

Alric thought to himself with an amused smile. After a few seconds Alric looked up at the Prex, hearing something about the Alliance and the contracts they had. He frowned for a second, glancing at Danger. She'd have to go and meet with Triumvirate, or one of their representatives anyway.

It wasn't that Danger wasn't used to having meetings and rehashing negotiations. Danger was well used to that. She didn't build the Trade Empire she had now without playing hostess for dignitaries, fellow businessmen and women, and governments alike from one end of the Hydian Way to the next.

The problem would lay in the matter that the Alliance was in the middle of a Total War with not only the First Order but the Galactic Empire as well. How neutral will Omega Pyre be then?

This was getting a bit more complicated.

"I see." Danger replied once more. Glancing over the datapad, she reviewed over the other contracts. There would be no problem with these.

"Then I guess I'd have to ask the Galactic Alliance myself just what would they like with Omega Pyre."

He sighed.

"I doubt they'll have a huge issue." Maybe it was the wrong time to chime in, but sometimes Alric couldn't help himself.

He stretched back slightly.

"At this point they'll probably want some concessions." Maybe a fleet or two, continued access to ships, that sort of thing. "But they're not exactly in a place to make an extreme amount of demands right now."

Not with the losses they had recently taken. "Shouldn't be much of a problem, Honey."

Alric shrugged.

Danger gave Alric a light squeeze of her fingers. It was to show her appreciation of him. The Tetan always had her best interests at heart and in mind. This would be a tremendous purchase for her if she were to go along with it. It could very well be the opportunity of a life time or could bring her a heck of a headache.

Strictly speaking business, it was a good investment. The only issue was that Danger wasn't so sure about the trouble brewing with the war. War wasn't new to the Queen of Trade. The issue was being able to manage to remain within the balanced edge of neutrality.

"Alright, but I would like to point out that with existing contracts, it might be a bit difficult with the transition. In light of this... perhaps the price could be negotiated?"

Ah money.

That was always the end point of all of these discussions wasn't it.

For people like Alric and Danger money never really meant all that much. They had more than most Galactic Governments could scrounge up, most new governments anyway. The Alliance and the First Order would probably give their combined wealth a run, but besides that? Not many.

He leaned forward slightly.

More than a small part of him was rather interested in just how much Omega Pyre would actually want. There was no doubt in his mind that it would be a considerable sum, mostly because of all the assets that came with the sizeable corporation. The shipyards it controlled here on Fondor alone would likely make most ordinary men go completely dumbfounded. Nevertheless, he knew that Danger, and ATC, could afford it easily enough. Thought, that didn't mean his wife wouldn't negotiate.

She always did.

Aeron had expected this. It didn't mean that she wouldn't get a headache over this. Her job was to run Omega Pyre and ensure its missions ran as successfully as possible -- not to haggle back and forth what the prices would be.

"Fine," she had been told to expect this. Leaning forward, the Prex brought out a holographic keyboard. A quick series of taps and then a swipe of her hand. There had been contingency plans in the event of this.

A new number for the company and its subsidiaries came up on the board.

"I take it this would be favorable?"

Danger's eyes grew a little wider. It was a suitable and fair reduction. What irked her is that it had been expected. Then again, should she really be that surprised?

"No, that sounds suitable."

He mused for a moment. Alric had always been able to read Danger better than most, especially with the passage of time. He saw the slight tightening of her eyes, the way she looked at the screen, he could tell that she was slightly irked by what had just happened. A part of him didn't really understand why, though maybe it was because she felt like she was being played by their host.

Danger hated not being the one in control.

She was a woman who had mastered both Sith and Jedi, who had taken the reigns of control away from planetary and galactic governments. It wasn't often that someone was able to out maneuver her, and although this wasn't that entirely...it was close. Alric slowly swept his thumb over her skin in a calming touch, glancing at her with a soft smile before slowly turning his attention back to the Prex. The woman was as stoic as ever, her face giving nothing away.

He wondered what a Lorrdian would have made of her.

Everyone gave something away, even when ordinary folk couldn't see it.

"Then unless there are further inquiries, I believe it now falls to your decision." Through all of this, Aeron held the air of one who was not entirely thrilled to be caught in the middle of such a business venture. This wasn't her specialty. She was given a mission, its parameters, and then she gathered the resources necessary to complete it.

The back and forth dealings between business giants was not her priority.

Danger took a deep breath, presenting a brief but cordial smile. "Of course." there was a small dribble of her fingertips against her datapad. Once again, she brought it up. "Just reviewing a few more things." it was as much of an act as it was a reality. As it was, it was a good investment opportunity. The only issue being that she still had that nagging sensation at the nape of her neck that made her feel as if she'd been played.

Danger wasn't comfortable with that.

However, there wasn't anything wrong with the offer. No with the price dropping it only made it all the better. Looking at it from all angles, it would benefit her to accept it.

There was no reason to decline.

Glancing back up to meet the eyes of the Prex, Danger gave a nod, "Then it is settled. I will accept the offer."

Aeron gave a nod. "Then we will complete the required flimsiwork." it would take a day to truly review everything. They also had to review financials, inventory, staff rosters.

"Of course."

He considered for a moment.

The deal that had just been made was rather profound in a way. It was odd that he hadn't really thought about it before, but the casual way they had all been speaking had pushed the idea from Alric's mind. The more he considered it though the more he realized just how profound this all was.

Whether Danger and the Prex realized it or not, they had just inadvertantly changed the lives of billions of people. There were not only the employees of Omega Pyre to think about, but the three worlds directly controlled by the company. The corporation of course hadn't been bad to these worlds, but they had effectively been a corpotocracy. Now it seemed that things would change, and each of the worlds would become democratically controlled states.

It was a massive change, no matter how one thought about it.

He mused for a moment more, then snapped back into attention just as Danger and the Prex finished their deal. "Perhaps we should have some refreshments before we dive into that."

Alric glanced at Danger, knowing just how lost she could become in business. At times she even forgot to eat, not to mention sleep.

“That sounds like a plan,” Danger replied. Aeron, on the other hand, was unable to hide the lack of enthusiasm. She didn’t do small talk or chichat. She was going to heavily complain about this later to Sarge.

“Sure,” a halfhearted gesture was directed to the pair. “I’ll see what I can get them to bring.” It was only ceremony. Danger would purchase Omega Pyre and that would be that. The Prex would have a new boss. Things were still going to change, but it still served to say that maybe it was for the better.

Time would only tell.
