The Cabin

Smiling she led him back to the bedroom. Kenna had a feeling that he wasn't going to allow her to go much further before taking her to the bedroom which was something that she wouldn't have protested. Once the two were inside Kenna closed the door which would not open till the next.

*Fade to Black*

Despite last night's activities Kenna had gotten up early and quietly snuck out the bedroom to the kitchen. The two had a big day today and she wan't to ensure they were able to have a good breakfast. The type of breakfast that she had always made him before he went on any mission. She enjoyed cooking for him, it was one of the simple ways Kenna could show him that she loved him. It wouldn't be long until the smell of eggs, bacon, and pancakes would permeate the entire cabin.

As the food finished cooking Kenna worked on a few snack bags for today's trip. She wanted to be prepared just in case the two of them got stranded out there in the woods. Plating the food Kenna considered herself lucky that Malcolm hadn't wandered in as of yet. This gave her the opportunity to surprise him with breakfast in bed.

As Kenna walked in if Malcolm was awake he would see her carrying two plates filled of breakfast items coming towards him. If he was asleep Kenna would have to put the plates down and wake him up with a kiss.

Malcom was normally an early riser. But the previous nights activities had him sleeping quite well. So when he awoke to a kiss from Kenna, became aware of the wonderful aroma of food that now permeated the whole cabin, he was quite surprised. A smile flashed in his face as he pulled her in for a second kiss. "I'm sorry for sleeping in so late. You should have woken me up. I could have helped you make breakfast."

Letting out a yawn, he sat up further in the bed as he ran his hands across his face and through his short hair to wake up. "It smells awesome though! We eating in here?" He asked somewhat rhetorically now that his eyes had just spotted the plates of food nearby. "So how did you sleep?"

Kenna enjoyed cooking for him, she always had. She didn't see why things had to change and she not cook for him. They were just now officially together and she free. Free to be herself and to be in love. Even if they never had a family of their own at least they would have each other.

"You were sleeping so peacefully I didn't want to wake you, sweetheart." Smiling she leaned over and gave him a small kiss. "Yes, breakfast in bed." She stated handing over a plate to him.

Before grabbing her own plate and crawling back into the bed next to him. She was still getting used to this being their cabin now. As much as Kenna was his, he was her's. The thought alone made her smile. He had saved her.

"Very well," she smiled with a playful wink. There were other things on her mind than food however they had a long day ahead of them. She needed to eat and than get ready. She imagined the hunting trip to take them all day. It could even spread into tomorrow. They wouldn't know until they got there. Kenna knew either way they would have a blast together.

The whole marriage thing was also on her mind. She didn't want to wait and have some big long engagement. There was no need for it, she knew what she wanted. Kenna would ask him about that later.

"Once we finish eating, we should probably get ready?" She questioned picking up her fork.

He smirked as he gave her a kiss. She really was to good to him. Still a bit soft for a Mandalorian woman, but she was improving there too. Soon she would be able to pit herself against the best of them. He had no doubt. Besides, he found the blend of both sides of her to be quite pleasing. Taking the food from her hand, his smirk only widened when she mentioned how she slept. "Glad to hear it." He replied mischievously. As he dug into his food, she inquired about their next course of action. Malcom simply nodded his head till he had swallowed the first bite.

"Aye. We'll load everything up onto the speeders and head out. Just remember though. We have the upper hand with out equipment, but these wolves of the north are not a thing to be underestimated." He raised his right leg slightly to reveal the scars he had on the lower right calf from when a wolf had managed to get the drop on him and nearly ended his life. "Wouldn't want to end up with these." He finished with a smile, though spoke in a serious tone. As serious as it was though, he was still proud of them like most Mandalorians were of their scars. It was a close call that he managed to nevertheless survive.

For the moment though, he would simply enjoy his food and her company.

Scars were nothing new to Kenna. She had plenty of them but they were nothing to brag about. The stories were something she tried to forget and he respected that. He had helped her not be so self conscious when it came to them and see her battle scares in a different light. She embraced herself and who she was. What she had been though.

"I would rather not end up with more scars. Don't worry I'll be watchful. I have learned to never underestimate an opponent. Things are not always what they seem." She smiled brightly at him taking another fork full of breakfast. Kenna was much stronger than she looked. She may not act like a Mandalorian woman but she was certainly as tough as one.

Setting the fork down a hand lightly ran along the scar. She had seen all of his scars by now and he her's but the tales behind them she had yet to hear about. Kenna would ask but apart of her was worried he would ask about her's. There were some tales left untold.

"Do you expect us to be able to find a pack easily or do you think this could be more than a day trip?"

Lowering his leg back down quickly after her running a hand along them so he could return to his wonderful food, he nodded. "Good. I made that mistake once. But I've never done it again." The man happily took another heaping mouthful of food as he listened to her next question.

"Honestly, I have no clue." Malcom said with a shrug. "I know the general area where they are, but it's not like they are sitting in a spot waiting to be gunned down." He added with a laugh. "The snow should make things easier for tracking. But in the end, if we don't spot anything, there is no sense staying out a second day. We'll just have to see how it goes. But spending the night out in the open in a Mandalore winter is never a wise decision. Fall is tough as it is. Winter....unless you're prepared for it, it's a death sentence."

After enjoying a couple more bites, he finished with, "More than likely, this will be a half day trip. It'll only be longer if we find something but have a difficult time tracking them down."

She had been hunted before so she unlike him knew what that was like. These wolves though seemed to be the type to not run away but instead charge when threatened. Still she felt that she had the upper hand but wasn't about to get all cocky about it. Things out in the forest could change very rapidly and mistakes could easily be made. Kenna had learned that you had to be ready to adapt at any given time and never to let one's guard down. That was a deadly mistake that she had learned far too late to save her. A mistake that had cost her much more than mere scars.

"Ya, I figured they wouldn't be out in the open. Hopefully we will be able to track down a pack." Kenna liked the snow but she wasn't used to the winter weather that they were having. It was rather new to her as much of her time was spent on warmer planets. The snow she found was wet and cold but good for packing to make a snowman out of. Having lost her childhood Kenna was a big child at heart whom just wanted to play in the snow and build forts. She understood the sad truth of the matter which was she wasn't a child now and the time for such things was over. Perhaps one day she would be able to do such things but for now Kenna was going hunting which was fun in it's own right.

Finishing her breakfast Kenna set her plate to the side before turning to face him. "I was going to go take a shower," she winked playfully at him. "Care to join me?" Once showered Kenna would be gathering everything together to leave.

He nodded. "Yes. Hopefully." He agreed as he too finished his food. When she suggested a shower, he smirked. They were not going to be getting an early start to the day it seemed.

An undetermined amount of time later, they were loading up the speeders with their equipment. "Ready to go?" He asked while shouldering his rifle and hopping up on his speeder. When she'd give the nod she was good to go, he led the way through the mountains and to an area he knew was usually filled with wildlife, wolves included. It took them a while to get there, zipping through the trees and large boulders that littered the mountains of Mandalore.

After reaching the top of the crest overlooking the southern mountain pass, he pulled out his electrobinoculars. This pass was well known for the amount of animals that came through it as it was the easiest way from the harsher norther ranges, to the more hospitable south.

A frown crossed his face though when he didn't pot anything. It was late in the season. But he had still hoped for some kind of sign. Looking over to Kenna, he asked, "I'm coming up with nothing...you see anything?"

She didn't spend an enormous amount of time tracking in the forest but she had picked up a few things while she had lived out here for a few days. It had been important for her to know which why the wolves were headed so she could avoid them. Now she wanted to find them but as her eyes scanned the area she couldn't see anything at first.

"I'm thinking they are close," she stated quietly as she walked towards the plants that grew along the mountain pass. "If there is still greenery on this side I'm sure there are a few stragglers. We may find them a little further in." She could imagine a hunter staying in the shadows of pass waiting for those stragglers to try to pass. They would make easy prey and that is always what hunters looked for especially this late into the season.

Kenna looked back to him for a second before turning back to the forest and taking a step forward. She was hoping for a trace of something to prove her theory but didn't see anything. "Should we investigate?" She questioned turning her head to look at Malcolm for a second. She might not see anything right now but Kenna wasn't about to give up that simply.
