OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
• Intent: To provide a non-canon mythical creature for use in an upcoming storyline
• Image Credit: Call of Duty
• Canon: N/A
• Links: [X]
GENERAL INFORMATION
• Name: The Children of the Caves (No official name known)
• Designation: Semi-Sentient
• Homeworld: New Plympto
• Language: N/A
• Average Lifespan: Unknown
• Estimated Population: Rare
• Description: What little is known of their appearance speaks of pale-skinned creatures not unlike a human, aside from the head, which is bald with dozens of teeth.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
• Breathes: Oxygen
• Average height of adults: 0.8m
• Average length of adults: 1.8m
• Skin color: Pale Grey
• Hair color: N/A
• Distinctions: At a glance, without looking at their faces, one might actually mistake the Children for a malnourished, vitamin D deficient human. The very few who’ve seen them and lived to speak of them report spindly limbs that can hold up a human-sized and shaped body despite their frail appearance, hair-deficient scalps, and dozens of sharp teeth.
• Races: N/A
Strengths:
• Mysterious: Very little is known about the Children outside of brief glances by wayward explorers of New Plympto’s Crystal Caverns. This leaves explorers at a severe disadvantage if ever faced with one, filling them with fear of the unknown beings.
• Hunters: As above, their near-mythological status leaves them highly mysterious, but some sightings have resulted in reports of deadly hunters who silently stalk prey before rapidly springing on them, grasping the unfortunate prey with human-like hands before ripping them apart with sharp teeth.
• Extreme Heat Resistance: By nature of the place they call home it has been assumed that the Children possess an extreme natural resistance to heat. How this resistance came to be is unknown, but as exploration into the deeper areas of the Crystal Caverns requires protective suits for most other organic beings, they have clearly evolved to survive in this environment.
Weaknesses:
• Sunlight: Due to their lives being spent, assumedly, entirely underground, the few who believe that they exist have hypothesized that exposure to direct sunlight will cause them severe enough stress to render the creatures incapable of harming others. This hypothesis of course is of yet unproven.
• Blind and Anosmic: Several observers have reported that the Children completely lack eyes or a visible nasal structure, leading to assumptions that the creatures are not only blind, but completely incapable of perceiving smell. This forces them to rely on taste, touch, and hearing to get around, meaning that a person caught by one could in theory stop entirely still and escape detection.
• Limited Food Supply: The Crystal Caverns of New Plympto aren’t the most fertile hunting grounds, and as such the Children likely suffer from a lack of food. This has led some to to believe that they are cannibalistic as well as hunters, potentially further limiting their population numbers.
CULTURE
• Diet: Omnivorous. Have been reported to eat anything from Stone Mites to minerals, as well as living beings
• Communication: Unknown
• Technology level: Extremely primitive as observed, limited to very simple tools at most based on current observations
• Religion/Beliefs: N/A
• General behavior: Precious little is known about their behavior as the majority of sightings were only glances, almost all of which were brushed off as superstition and tricks of the mind. What few sightings were taken as truth however reported patient hunters who rapidly closed the distance with their prey, scurrying about on all fours.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Very little is known about the so-called Children of the Caves. Records show that references to the Children don’t appear anytime before the arrival of the Gulag Plague several centuries ago, leaving modern researchers to assume that they inhabited the planet sometime after its reconstruction by the Vong at the end of their invasion. The first known appearance came around 837ABY when a woodsman in the Hajial Chase investigated noises coming from the Crystal Caverns. He reported a human-like creature crawling through a darker section of the caves, and when it turned to face him, it appeared to have dozens of teeth, but no eyes. It scurried deeper into the caves before he could get a better look, and the woodsman fled in fear for his life, though very few believed his tale as there had been no such creatures living in the caves to their knowledge.

Some years later several Nosaurian children went missing while swimming in Leafstrap’s Depths, and while some believed a more plausible tale of them simply getting lost and succumbing to the heat of the caves, there were some who believed they had been taken by these cave inhabitants. Thus rumors grew, and over the years, a myth grew around these beings that parents would use to scare their children away from the already dangerous caves. Sightings have been scarce, but further fueled the mythology, and on occasion the caves themselves are blamed for disappearances, leaving actual study of the Children an untouched subject.

Oh the last thing, your image link just goes to a thumbnail of the same image. You're good with just saying something like "Crawler Zombie from Call of Duty".
