He quickly had to compensate as another person appeared suddenly and began talking and then swinging his crimson lightsaber at Talon. His initial strike parried he backed away and called his second lightsaber from his belt to his waiting hand. He knew Sith seldom acted alone, and now more than ever there was more than enough of them to go around.

"Yes, Lord Xeykard please don't throw yourself away with little ol' me." Talon said as he looked at the new comer, "Besides, look how dressed up he got for your date. I certainly wouldn't want you two to get all dressed up for nothing."

Talon watched as the second sith approached and swung at him. He brought his saber up at an angle to block the undesirable separation of neck and head, then pointed his unlit lightsaber hilt at the sith and activated the hilt a foot or two from the sith's gut.

He gave the two sith a wink as the other light saber sprung to life it's slightly gold blade extending at the newcomers abdomen.

Climbing through a small shute the young jedi pulled farther away from his post. He had drilled this scenario so many times he could do it blind and he absolutely was at this point. He had ditched his disguise as a young government clerk just before they got word the Sith were moving en masse.

His hood was pulled down as he dropped down to a lower floor and collected a package of plans and documents of the sith movements and operations in the sector. Quickly he stuffed the code cylinders and emergency credits into his bag and checked his blaster pistol. He needed to get to the storage room and wait for his master or another contact for extraction. And he needed to get there fast.

A pang of primal shock surged through Vestara’s core as Annika unleashed an earsplitting shriek. Her reaction triggered a moment of terror, which was made even more terrifying when the half-Zeltron shot her a glare that caused the healer’s heart to drop inside her chest. In that regard, Vestara’s fear was driven by the fact that if her fellow acolyte decided to lash out at her, especially through the Force, there would be very little that she could do to defend herself. She was not a fighter and unfortunately, none of her affinities in the Force were of much use when it came to combat.

And yet, in spite of her weakness, Vestara still maintained a degree of leverage over her fellow acolyte. Annika would need her to draw out the poison, when this was done.

"Do nothing, let her suffering continue a bit longer. Your choice of poison was masterful."

And so, with the Lord of Terror’s telepathic endorsement for the first time that day, Vestara allowed a smile to tug at her features, which was accompanied by a cackling, high-pitched series of giggles as the Moridinazid suffered before her eyes.

“I will end your ad’ika’s pain, if you would only speak.” Vestara purred in the ex-Supercommando’s ear. “Tell us what we need to know and she will suffer no more.” The healer promised.

The Moridinazid held out for a few moments longer, then he finally broke.

Vital intelligence spilled out from the man’s lips in a jumbled, panicked slurry. Fortunately, the protocol droid in the room quickly transcribed and recorded his words, while cross-referencing his secrets against known intelligence. For her part, Vestara pressed him for more and the man quickly gave it, revealing enough that the droid—with its insatiable hunger for knowledge—appeared to be briefly satisfied.

“Thank you for your compliance, Moridinazid.” Vestara offered, as she placed a delicate, yet threatening hand on the ex-Supercommando’s arm. Then, the healer moved over to the suffering form of Annika, who was no doubt caught in the throes of an extremely debilitating pain. As soon as she was next to the half-Zeltron, Vestara placed both of her hands on her fellow acolyte’s stomach and set to fulfilling her promise. She needed no tools in order to tap into the ambient terror and pain that filled the chamber, harnessing it as a font of power as she forced herself to tap into the dark side, under pain of being poisoned herself.

On cue, Annika would register a fresh sensation of agony, to the point that it would feel as if her nerves were being ripped from her body. However, rather than her nerves, it was the poison itself being isolated and drawn from her bloodstream. The greenish liquid seeped out from the same place that Vestara had injected it, before the poison was suspended in the air above the half-Zeltron’s form, then poured into a small, disposable bowl on the nearby table.

“It is done, my Lord.”

Darth Malum of House Marr Talon Vosra ​

In the instant the new saber ignited, Xeykard aborted what he was sure would have been a killing blow to Vosra in order to dodge backwards. Yet, what he'd first thought was an assassin, quickly became an... ally.

What an insult.

Xeykard watched them clash, giving him a moment to consider his options. The other Sith's movements were quick, skilled; his cloak was good enough to evade most of Xeykard's senses. The mask, though, and the scent- ah. Were he more prepared, now would have been the time to involve Nefaron's works. He would have to make do with what he had now.

The Inquisitor stalked nearby, giving his focus to the fight only enough to ensure that he would not be caught off-guard by an attack. Instead he signalled to the legionnaires who followed him. Three followed him, giving a wide berth to the duel as they moved further down the hall; the rest set up a portable shield generator and began to calibrate it. Xeykard himself silenced his presence, giving not a wink of his intentions as he moved.

With a wave of his hand, he crushed the air vents feeding into this part of the hallway, and the pipes feeding the sprinklers.

A duo of specialists entered the meeting room with Trayze's other troopers - neither could have been more opposing in Trayze's mind. One was short, with huge... ears, with canniness and a serial number name that could only come from the Kainate's latest innovation in genetically engineered soldiers. The other, more obsidian helmeted and attempting to be casual, but clearly not wanting to be here.

Perhaps this mercenary had other motives besides coin on his mind.

"Ms. Cipher. Mr. Dresden." Trayze began a ghost of a smile gracing his lips as the two had entered. "Seems like it'll be the three of us taking charge."

He then went over the plan, mostly for the newcomer mercenary's sake, about how the three would act as the primary insertation, into the munitions storage - ensuring that any high profile members were subdued, and more importantly, the munitions weren't detonated as a last minute means of "taking the enemy down with them". Strangely enough, the Sith would be taking arguably the riskier positions, while the other troopers would act as backup.

While explaining the stratagem, Trayze's mind seemed to linger on the black helmeted figure. Something about him was... familiar, though Trayze wasn't sure to entirely trust his gut - though more often than not his instincts consistently hammered him with hindsight.

As Trayze concluded, he made a mental note to inquire further about the mysterious mercenary known only as "Dresden".

"...Any questions, comments, concerns or snarky remarks. Put 'em 'ere or put 'em on the board behind me." The Kiffar gestured to the whiteboard behind him, should any party ask for clarification or have their own opinions on the operation.

CI-6660 listened to the presented plan with all of the attention that it deserved, in spite of the fact that she had studied and briefed herself over it many times before. The ritual was more to ensure that her own understanding of the mission lined up with the plan as presented by Trayze. Her conditioning as a Saaraishash agent had hammered the importance of details into her mind, as even the most seemingly mundane elements of any given object could contain secrets potent enough to topple an empire. By the same token, such ordinary minutiae could ruin an entire operation, given the wrong (or right) circumstances.

In that, 666 made particular note of the crimson-eyed mercenary, though she took extra care not to allow her gaze to linger on him for too long. To her judgement, he was the most risky actor involved in the raid, for the simple fact that he was a mercenary. The Aetharian could only hope that he had been vetted, but she knew all too well that even the most comprehensive screening processes could be foiled by a determined infiltrator with the resources to fabricate a strong cover identity and the skill to sell a lie.

Knowing that, 666 decided that she would have to be careful with showing him her back.

As with all battles where life was at stake, he let the background filter away, leaving his focus exclusively on the one in front of him, the immediate threat to him, and his survival. Time slowed, as he controlled his breathing, his mind working at a lightning pace, analysing everything and anything about the man, looking for a weakness, looking for his strengths, as held another advantage, that most did not have.

He had another mind working within his, a parasite, or a boon, right now, all that mattered was his victory.

He did not answer to the taunts, every wasted breath was a lapse in focus, and every lapse in focus was presenting oneself defeat with open arms.

One only spoke, if it could be used for advantage.

His eyes flickered to his spare hand, a hilt, all too familiar, that revealed enough.

"Jar-Kai" She helpfully confirmed, and as he watched it approach his gut, still pinned by his first blade, not yet ignited, he knew what to do.

Increasing the pressure on his interlocked blade, they made to splitter and splatter, as red plasma hissed against yellow, before, as he saw the barest wink appear hiding his opponent's dark orb for but a moment, as new hiss erupted, alerting him to a new yellow blade entering the fray.

It was the moment.

He pushed against the momentum that he himself forced, using the counter-force his opponent enacted, surrendering to it, as the Force swirled about him, and he allowed himself to be sent flying back, several feet away. Landing gracefully watching the Jar-Kai user opposite, golden blades in hand.

He could not help but smirk, this was going to be interesting. Perhaps he was worthy enough to make him draw his second.

He willed the Force to bend to his will, in front of him, as if a trident without its connecting prongs, three Spears of Midnight Black formed, the dark side made manifest as its energies swirled around the spears, themselves spinning on their own axis in greater ferocity and speed.

Before they were loosed upon the Jedi before him.

As he idly wondered, as his ears flickered to hear the sound of mechanical components breaking.

"Right you are, Miss." Trayze concurred, before nodding to the various soldiers and members of the insertion team. "While these gentlemen will be the ones responsible fer bookin' them, we'll have to do the dubious glory of goin' in with only some means of close quarters combat."

The Kiffar looked at the helmeted mercenary, the strange newcomer and a factor not really known to him - yet he couldn't help but feel a familiarity in those red irises of his.

Almost like...

"How about it, Mr. Dresden?" the Captain continued. "Ah know you probably prefer a sidearm, an' trust me, Ah'm much the same - but are you confident in taking out an entire cell with yer bare hands?"

Dresden nodded to Phaelissia , a subtle thanks for her essential knowledge.

"An entire cell?" Dresden chuckled a bit, looking around the room, settling his eyes upon Trayze Tesar . "Can't promise it won't get loud, but I think we can make things work."

Clearing his throat in slight discomfort, Dresden could feel as if something were a bit peculiar. Something that he couldn't quite describe to himself, yet it held a vague familiarity. A change in the air, perhaps? Or a lapse in his logical mind? Shrugging it off as probably nothing but nerves, he gathered himself completely and fully - his mind honed in on the task. his hands eager to do their work.

After this, he would most likely disappear - far away from this place and from the actions he'd remember long after they're done.

666 acknowledged Trayze with a nod, then gave a small sigh to re-center herself for the coming task. In doing so, she made one last check of her pistol, before loading it up with a pre-charged magazine. If all went according to plan, the weapon would not once leave its place on her thigh. Nevertheless, 666 kept it as a backup to ensure that she was not helpless in the event that something managed to disable her cybernetics.

“I will endeavor to remain undetected for as long as possible.” 666 said. “So long as the parameters of the mission can still be achieved under that condition.” She added. Nevertheless, the Cipher hoped that the mission could be accomplished without them having to go loud at all. After all, the quieter it was, the fewer guns that would be firing at one time and therefore, the lower the risk of the entire warehouse going off owing to a poorly-aimed blaster bolt. Should that happen, not only would they lose the weapons, but the entire raid would have been for nought.

[Talon Vosra]

He smiled as the sith went flying back. He was crafty, Xeykard was performing tricks he couldn't yet understand but it wouldn't matter over much. Talon knew his business. He spun the blades flicking them on and off with simple pressure as he watched the sith. He could feel the force moving and the feeling reminded him of Helios, another Sith he had fought once on Empress Teta.

His training with the disciples of twilight had aided him then as he saw the myriad spears through the bent light that would have rendered them invisible to most. He spun, and lept toward the wall of the corridor, bare feet slapped up the side before he lept and spun in the air in an aerial pirouette. He, however, was not dodging a mere three like his last encounter and felt a solitary spear he had failed to notice pierce his side and pass through. It would not kill him immediately, zelosians did not die so easily, but it hurt and would slow him. And being slow was the last thing he needed.

He landed with a slap of his bare feet and turned sideways a saber lit in each hand and tried to keep both sith in view.

"The hand that trick out in sith school now." He asked and forced himself not to cough.

Darth Malum of House Marr Talon Vosra ​

The three legionnaires did the same as the rest of their squadron -- setting up a shield generator, and calibrating it to strengthen the particle shields and make them as fine as possible. Xeykard floated nearby, just barely close enough to threaten intervention in the fight.

When his troops were ready, they signalled to him. The Inquisitor did the honours, taking a grenade from each of the subordinates he'd lead to box the other two in.

"This one thanks you for your sacrifice," he said. He threw the incendiaries, tossing them towards the sides of the hallway, where they burst into flames. Even boxed in by the two shields on each end of the hall, they seemingly were too far out of the way to hurt either combatant -- but the smoke seemed to stick between the shields, and began to fill the space quickly.

His words to (what he assumed to be) Malum were, in fact, sincere; Xeykard, no matter how confident in his own abilities, knew there was always the possibility he could fail. In this case, failing to kill Vosra would not only be a blow to their campaign but also his standing among the Sith. Now, he'd been served up an easy excuse, as well as a chance to remove another player from the board. There was no situation where Xeykard truly lost. If things went as planned, he might even kill two birds with one stone.

One fire roared, surrounding the two warriors inside. Xeykard awaited whatever outcome.

 

[Darth Nefaron]

Objective II: The Terror of Darth Nefaron

At last, the man was broken. His mind was open, his secrets would flow like water in a stream. The followers of this would-be hero would suffer because their leader succumbed to that most primal of feelings, the strongest the force had to offer. Fear had broken him, now it was time to spread that fear to all who would follow him.

"Well done, my acolytes. Through your labor, we are rewarded with all we need. This is the future of our kind-"

Nefaron approached the broken man, watching as the effects of the toxin began to subside to a degree, granting him some knowledge of what he had just done. He was weak now, his body unable to trash about, instead, all he could do was hang his head low and await the inevitable death that the Sith could grant. Instead, with a sudden motion, Nefaron used the device on his hand to inject the former super commando directly into his chest, the orange fluid quickly spreading throughout his body as fresh terror began to overwhelm him once more.

"The Dark Side's true source is fear. From one emotion, a vast Empire was born. One day, every living thing will experience the terror this man is only beginning to feel."

As if on cue, the screaming began. Invisible demons tore at him, his restrained arms leaving him little respite, all he could do was close his eyes and try and hide himself away as if he were a child, terrified of the dark. Nefaron took a step back, watching things play out before turning his attention to the pair of acolytes who had served him well.

"Both of you are to be commended. While you haven't quite embraced my teachings, you have taken your first steps down a path that will lead you to the truth of the force. I still have plans for our guests, but I will attend to those myself. As for the both of you, I have one final task, one of utmost importance. Acolyte Vestara, you will inform Lord Xeykard of what we have learned here, he will have his fun with the insurgents. As for you Acolyte Starfire, you have proven to be quite the actor. Perhaps you could aid me in drawing Lord Tesar in for a... confrontation."

Nefaron paused, looking at them both for a moment, calmly asking:

"I trust both of you understand the gravity of what I am asking. There will be certain... consequences for those who fail to adapt."

As if to make his point, the Mandalorian let out a gut-wrenching scream, begging for death. Nefaron expected these bright acolytes to grasp that the future of the Sith lay before them, and they would do well to join in on whatever scheme the Dark Lord had in mind.

Most of the time he would have found Jedi standing against him, so aloof, so self-assured rather annoying. He would have simply placed him in the box of Jedi that he felt was everything wrong with their Order, those that confirmed to him so clearly that despite all that the Sith did, all that they would do.

At least they were not the Jedi, such slaves to their fear, that requires them to be uppity against all others.

Such slaves to the Force, that they gave up their own humanity.

So ignorant, of what they did not even attempt to understand, that they labelled it as heresy.

Yet, this one.

He did not feel those emotions, that he felt around so many of their kind. Indeed, with no music playing, there was a certain rhythm between them, theirs was a dance of swords perhaps, but too, it was a dance of steps. They risked in these movements with every step death and injury, far more pertinent than the embarrassment and hurt of crushed feet.

And it had made his heart race.

A smile mirroring the Jedi's displayed across his features, yet perhaps something slightly more feral.

He might even come to regret what he would have to do.

If only because this dance of theirs would end.

The Jedi turned his lightsabres on and off, a signal or display, Malum could not quite tell, but watching as the spears flew, he surged forward, only to slow, taken aback, as the man moved with greater agility than he initially had expected, spinning as he lept into a wall, whirling through the air, as indeed... like a dancer, avoiding the spears with a precision that was enough to make him quirk his eyebrows, most impressive.

Yet, the Darkspears shot at such speed, at such velocity, and accuracy, that it took something beyond skill and experience to be truly safe from them. Malum felt pregnant joy as one of the weapons pierced his side, before terminating it as quick as it had come. There was joy in this, joy in this battle, in this dance.

But the man deserved the respect to not have his harm, his death, to be turned into something... triumphal.

Moreover, still with time slowed, with his focus steady, his breathing measured, there was much to note, apart from the fact that he wore no shoes. Blood rained from above for a moment.

Not the red blood that he expected.

...But green.

The man was not Duros, Falleen, Rodian, or Trandoshian. He looked far too human for that.

Zelosian.

It may explain the shoes too.

He formulated a new plan.

The man's voice bore just the hint of struggle, "Something like that," Malum responded, he had instead picked it up from someone far greater than any academy. He knew with first blood, that this battle would be finished in the next few minutes, still wondering what the blazes Xeykard was up to, as he willed the Force to his command, bending, breaking, controlling it with all his power.

As out of him, like an earthquake.

Waves, after waves of pure darkness rolled out of him.

Like smoke but with no fire it rose to the ceiling, covering the entire room in blackness, making it impossible to see.

If one relied on eyes.

The invisible inky black tendrils reached out through the darkness that was their own nature, latching onto the Jedi's form, as others went out in all directions, latching onto the Barabel and his Legionnaires as well.

He only idly wondered what they were doing, taking position up behind those shields, he saw flickering through the darkness.

But there was only one matter of importance now, as he pressed against the floor, and pushed himself into a full sprint, lightsabre swinging toward where he knew the Jedi had to be.

To end this with one last swing.

The voice of the Barabel did not stop him, even as his mind immediately registered how strange those words were.

But as sudden explosions bore around him, he knew exactly what had happened.

"Betrayal." She whispered in the back of his mind.

His amulet immediately grew as hot as the sun, a glimmer in the darkness, encasing its heir in a fully born shield, protecting him from the worst of the explosion, the momentum so strong still, that he found himself barrelling through, too far gone to stop.

But after, this betrayal would be punished.

The explosion tore through the area. The concusion of the blast knocked him sideways and began filling the area with roiling smoke. The shields they had erected to contain the fight also contained the choking smoke. His wounds burned all the more from the sting of the acrid fog. He fought the coughing that wanted to erupt from his throat again as his vision became restricted to the glow of lightsaber blades and shadows. He turned off his lightsabers and began a slow limp toward the center of the corridors.

The waves of darkness billowed out and he slowly knelt down and closed his eyes. He couldn't see in the dark anyway but he could focus. He could push the negative away and accept what was. He could focus on the very few things left that he could control and not allow despair to take him. Sadly he had little focus to spare for attacking in response. But he could prepare his mind and heart for restoring the light.
