"Ouch.....hey, you did that kinda hard you know..." She uttered under her breath as Abby gave reason as to why she shut her down.
Ok, in many ways, the girl was right. The sith somehow for some odd reason or other had allowed their transport full of resistant supporters through with little more than a quick check over. And the two troopers that they just had checking up on them had very easily passed them over again. Yes, something wasn't adding up the way things normally should be unfolding, but it didn't mean that the sith here, and whomever they had put into place to oversee this occupation was an idiot, no.
Abby had literally jabbed a good point, into her ribs and sense.
yes, a little too hard, but how else to drive a point to her to cut it out?
"Yea, I guess..." She replied, as they were about to cross the main avenue.
Abby seemed to have more of a tactical sense of things as to not pushing their luck. Marina was in so many ways out of her element here, but she had in fact been in FO occupied systems. Only those systems were not newly occupied following a planetary takeover and certainly didn't have such a sith presence as Commenor had at this moment. And she had no means of skedaddling off this system if fodder did hit the fan. She had been dropped off with no clear plan as to how and when she would be able to go home...if ever.
So yes...bruised rib or not, she would have to follow this woman's lead for now, as Abby did appear to know a bit more than she did about the situation at hand. And for the most part, marina still had no idea as to her role and purpose here other than bear witness. No, she hadn't thought it out as to what or how she could help Commenor. Her only drive had been to respond to the call of those whom were being oppressed. And she had done that weeks ago when she dropped in past the sith fleets and managed to evacuate as many refugees from a devastated community to a safe haven.
But that had cost her her ship when her father confronted her. Still, ship or no ship, marina had been determined to return to Commenor again and do what she could. Only now without her ship; what could she do?
Follow Abby's lead for now. It was the most logical choice.
"I mean... sigh.... low profile...Ok, yes." Marina nodded, before giving the street a good look over, now that she had good reason to do so as they were after all, crossing.
Abby seemed to have some better sense of direction to start with and without them seemingly looking like they were lost, Abby lead them with assertiveness in the direction of one of the local educational centers..the community's school and civil centers hubs.
"Oh?.... what do you mean she knew me?..." Marina asked in a low tone again.
Seemed from what Abby was relaying; the shopkeeper 'Laura' had recognized Marina from a Holo-Net news broadcast a few months back of an Amber incident involving Queen Arenais, or as many close to the queen were allowed to address her; [member="Lady Kay"]. Well to Marina, the queen would always be 'Cessy' in her heart.
But what Abby had just informed her of, now made more sense as to why she may have incurred that bruise to her ribs..Abby elbowing her to shut her trap.
Marina had been easily recognized by the shopkeeper, meaning she could well be recognized as easily by those whom she didn't wish for them to know her.
"Right...I see...yea..." She agreed as to maybe do something to change her appearance more.
"Uhm.....not sure other than wearing these clothes what I can do to change my looks though..."
Abby seemed to be a bit more knowledgeable as far as to doing proper reconnaissance. She pointed out that taking notes on key sith movements, fortifications, depots and such things as air defenses from the ground or otherwise; would serve as valuable information later on when things got 'hot'. Right now, Marina should not act like...like...like so happy-go-lucky, if that was her personality or not. Just to chill it and try not to draw too much more attention...that's all.
The word 'hot' made Marina cringe a moment, as it's meaning meant fire-fights...bombings...death on all fronts. But she knew this would eventually come to relight. The sith weren't just going to pack up their picnic baskets and leave Commenor on their own, no. Still, the reality of what was to come down, sooner or later could not be dismissed. Marina wondered what role Abby was to take up when things got 'hot'. It were hard for her to think about that as she walked alongside Abby. But she knew Abby was a fighter...a tough girl...a soldier. She on the other hand was...sigh... a pacifist. What was she doing with Abby? She knew she could not back her up as soldiers/fighters could. was she putting Abby's life at risk by being around her?
Marina kept her trap shut as Abby asked her to do. No theatrics..no taking this, nor anything else for that matter lightly. As thus, she fumbled through her bag, looking for what she believed would help hide her appearance better at the very least for Abby's sake...pulling out a pair of shades. She didn't have to say anything about them, but simply nodded as Abby pointed them toward what opened up to be a school ground.
Only that there weren't that many if at all enough children about to justify the large educational institute..the school.
"Oh God-..." She let slip, clearing her throat as her heart had sank for a moment, thinking the worst.
Not breaking her stride, she kept alongside Abby, mimicking the other few pedestrians which they had observed since they left the thrift shop.
"Ahem....Sorry.... I'm alright, Abby....lets see about walking past the yards..." Marina spoke, assuring Abby that she weren't going to freak out on her.
The school grounds were for the most part deserted, say for a few children by the school's fences looking outward....like little prisoners. It were what Marina had picked up at first as they approached closer to the school grounds. Were the children looking out the fence, waiting for their parents? It were difficult to tell. But as the two women got closer, their vantage point revealed a few more children about. One..two were swinging lazily on the school's gym set.
Another, here...there, just sitting quietly on the school's side steps...waiting? A few more were just grouped, seemingly just talking and one were observed sobbing and getting comforted by friends. That group were meters distance away from Marina and Abby, and what was being quietly talked about were out of earshot.
Marina held it together, keeping from going directly to the fence and speaking with some of them. There were adults...a man at one corner...two women walking; one toward them, the other across the street.. seemingly oblivious to the lack of play and children's laughter that should have been filling the playgrounds this time of day.
"Ahem... how about that coffee I promised you?" Marina spotted the corner shop that on normal days most likely sold candy and coffee for both children and parents...
It were a good start to see how everyday life had changed around the school districts.
