Valery's gaze followed him as he staggered away, her concern deepening as he sought distance instead of comfort. She could see it — how exhausted he was, how heavy everything sat on his shoulders. And she knew that exhaustion.
Her fingers curled slightly at her side where he had pulled away, but she didn't step closer, "I saw," she admitted, her voice quiet but unwavering. But it didn't change anything. Her eyes softened as she studied him, as she saw the way he braced himself, waiting for judgment that wasn't coming.
"But you don't have to worry, " she continued, her voice steady. "If you'd like it to remain a secret, I won't talk." She had seen him try to resist. He didn't want to hurt her, and she had no reason to believe he'd hurt someone else for no good reason.
He was a Jedi — he could learn control.
