The Dark Side and the Light

Location: Katarr

On the one battered world of Katarr the young jedi stood among the people trying to make something of the planet now a days. The jedi still here stood for the defense of the planet for the sake of others and in Catherine’s case to prove that they were committed to the protection of the innocent. As she helped people where possible she had kept her eyes peeled and her sense up. There was something foreboding what he could not say but she felt as if a darkness was hovering over the world. For now she waited and watched the young jedi ready to face the unknown she believed.

Solan leaned on the shaft of his scythe, eyes watching the others on the planet and having shown up to help defend the planet if anything happened. Problem was, legitimate as his purposes he was still a dark jedi and the airheads that were a part of the republic and part of the 'pure' organization generally did not like it when you come to one of their planets filled with the darkside. So now he stood there with after several hours of making calls to get him out of frozen in carbonite he stood and helped where he could when there wasn't a zealot over his shoulder.

So for now, he was standing there and just watching a Jedi that seemed to be helping out some people as well.

As she went along with her duties she soon was drawn closer to a feeling one she knew no Jedi gave off that she knew of. As she eventually encountered the man she looked at him. Approaching carefully the armored jedi padawan watched his movements. "I sense in you something I hoped we'd rid this place of. The Dark Side." She spoke thankfully at the moment few were near by them still she watched the Dark Jedi with caution as the Dark Side flowed through him as much as the light did her.

"Thats cool, i must say though, do tell me about the evils of the darkside my dear." He smiled and looked at the girl who was... he was going to guess twenty at most, his eyes staring over her and smiling as something he did on a general basis came out of his mouth next. "By the way my dear jedi friend you are pretty, shame the jedi you serve are so against emotions because i can tell you that some of them are the greatest things in the world like joy and compassion. But a Jedi obviously can't feel those, there is no emotion after all." He smiled at the woman as he leaned against his scythe and waited for her response.

She frowned. "Yeah I doubt those are the emotions that fuel you. If I;ve seen enough Dark Siders to know it you guys tend to fuel yourselves with rage and hate. Worlds die as the followers of the Dark Side march over them. This world took a rather nasty beating a long time ago from such Emotions. I think you can go these people ill need help from the likes of you." She pushed her robes aside showing more of the combat armor and exposing her light saber.

He raised a brow at the violent padawan, amused that its her that is initiating this but he didn't complain. He was getting bored anyways and looking over to the side but smiling. "Perhaps we should take this away from other people... i dont want to get anyone in the way." His body straightened up as he looked at her, he was a bit saddened that this girl wanted a fight but it was a good idea as it would give him a chance to show her that the darkside does not mean you are evil. "After all, us darksiders have no care about the lives of others."

She calmly watched him motioning him to lead the way she'd never trust him at her back but she did agree she'd rather not have them fighting among civilians. These people didn't need to be put at risk. Once they arrived at a spot she stood facing him. "You can still leave you know. No reason for this to become violent." She offered calmly wondering if for once the Dark sider would just be nice and leave.

"Hate to tell you, but im not leaving. If you want to be self absorbed and think i mean nothing but pain for these people then you are wrong and i must convince you otherwise... which oddly enough appears to be a nice old duel..." He smiled at her and turned his head before walking off towards a more secluded part before spinning the scythe off his shoulder and sinking it into the ground. "Now, my beautiful Jedi friend, how about we begin this no?"

"Damn you guys never can take the easy road can you?" She said before taking up her saber the saber ignited it's blue blade as she stood in a defensive Makashi stance after giving the typical makashi salut. She watched his movements now prepared for the fight to come. "I sense Fear and Anger in you, even if you bury them they are always what fuels the Dark side. Never compassion or joy." She begins to move carefully readying for him to make the first move possibly.

He looked at her for a few seconds before sighing. "Your stance is off." He hoped she would look down and try to fix herself as he raised a hand and sent a wave of force energy right at her chest instead of trying to engage her with a blade. To be honest if she was going to go on about how the darkside is evil and how they only sense fear and anger in their opponents she was going to be a very staple duel for him. "Oh and watch out for your opponent, not your feet." He smiled and laughed for a moment, not at her just at the situation.

She knew her stance wasint off one bonus of being a bit of a advanced student you knew your stances well. Did Not stop the force power from flying at her and even as she tried to resist it she was knocked off her footing some. She quickly regained her stance and moved forward now aiming several precise strikes ta him as the hum of the blade sounded in the air. As she struck out at him she watched how he defended and reacted to gauge the style he utilized.

He watched her move in and smiled as he provided her with something that Makashi was sorely underpowered against as his strikes moved to stop her blade with pure strength over fancy deflections. Fueling his own strength with extra oomph that should keep her from being able to land a hit on him. He was simply on the defensive though and he seemed to follow no standard form at the time as his movements were purely focused on stopping the blade she used rather than countering or attacking himself.

As she moved around with him she continued her strikes she began to add aspects of other styles. Using a few ataru flips and strikes then moving to djem so style strikes giving herself more power and force behind her strikes. "So for all the good you claim the Dark side does how come it only ever comes as sith trying to invade planets? killing people in the millions? This world was a case study in what the Dark side does."

[member="Catherine Soja"]

"You unjustly compare the dark side of the force as something evil, something disgusting. The Sith are the evil ones, not users of a gift that the force allowed me to use. You can gladly insult sith, gladly put them in their place but know this my beautiful dear, you are very wrong in assuming i am just like them." With that he spun the scythe and pushing power behind it he sent a strike right at her own, aiming the side without the blade at her and letting her see the only damage he would do is repairable damage.

As she saw his movements she leap upward to evade narrowly doing so she went backward landing with only enough time to right herself and reset her own position. "Tell that to my home planet. Where were all you Dark Force users to save those people? Corellia is lost and while under the protection of darksiders. How interesting all that power never saved anybody." She moved forward taking several more swipes at him though so far he'd managed to block or evade her attacks he was damn good.

He watched her get harder with her strikes and more so began to leech off the negative emotions that flowed from her, a hint of hate, hint of pain, hint of sadness. Each alone they weren't much of a boost but together they kept him toe to toe with her and he let her burn herself out so that he could end this in one strike. "You mistake all darksiders for Sith, the sith are a cruel and evil sort, one that will do everything and anything to simply achieve their lust for death and power.... at least most of them are. I hate to tell you my dear, but i am not like a Sith and i am sanctioned to help the Republic in its war."

She backed off briefly breathing some calming herself as she had to try and adjust to his style of combat. The scythe should have been much better to defend against and stop but he'd obviously practiced it's issues out. "Really yet I never see you defending it only hiding when the battles come. Face it you let fear drive you and hate and anger. You fell to the path of the Dark Side and with it you have become no better than they are. If your knowledge is such a revelation then why do you and those like you hide from the Jedi? what if we offered to hear you? I suspect I know why. Because the message is to give in to hate. To give in to the pain we feel. Instead of learn to weather it and grow." She watched his eyes and his body before she moved forward looking like she'd go for a typical over head strike but instead flipped using an ataryu movement to bring her to go behind him before using a form one wide strike to go to try and disarm him. "I always remember that part of my training, Fear is the Path to the Dark side it is the quick and easy path to power. But it consumes those who rely on it."

She jumped as she spoke and landed behind him, his body turning but his scythe was knocked from his hands before he had the opportunity to grab ahold and defend against the strike. With a raised brow he backed up and got ready to move and dodge her blade. "I know what i am, a monster, a creature that deserves death.... and i would but i owe someone to stay alive. I owe them to live as i am the only person they have left. Hate what i use all you want my jedi friend, but do not say i have been consumed like my Sith rivals. I am more human than they will ever be and i owe my loyalty to the republic, to my friends, and to protecting the things i love. I hope you know what love feels like, or did they never teach you about that emotion?" He smiled and let his old saber drop from his sleeve and into his hand, the blue blade erupting and coming down on her own and keeping it locked in place there.

As he locked sabers with her she was caught off guard by the hidden weapon forcing her to back off some and try to gain a better position. But she knew already she was getting closer to her limit and he was in a less burnt out status meaning she had to find an opening or she'd end up the loser. As she watched him her saber hummed and she watched his movements carefully. "I learned love from my parents and family. But they are gone now. Hell my own master has left the republic and me in the process. So instead I have to follow what I was taught and apply it. I am a guardian a jedi who's duty is to protect people and the republic from those who would harm it and destroy it. The Dark side clouds minds I have no doubt you believe what you say but I also have met plenty of you who kill as easy as the sith to get your way. Yeah Seen another like you didint carry a saber though but he sure knew how to use the force. Killed a crew on a ship he took over." She watched him still mind going over possible movements he'd make.

"So you are angry about the loss of your family?" His hands moved to separate himself from her and keep ready, though his free hand did stretch out and he tried to grip the scythe with the force. He much rather preferred the long polearm but if he had too he would fight her with but his saber and was confident he could do that without losing. So instead he kept talking to her, not trying to incite pain or anger, testing her instead. "You are angry that your family is gone, pained that you can't see them? Or are they just in some hole. Then your master left too hmm? And who was that that would abandon you. It seems rather irresponsible of him to simply abandon you to survive on your own. And i thought you way was peace, not murder. Because that is what you will be doing if you carry out such actions on one who murdered others." He smiled and waited for her response, it was time to test the girl.
