The Darkness Within

Peace is a lie...There is only passion.

Mandy listened to the words echo in her mind a few times as she repeated them to herself just under her breath.

Through passion...I gain strength.

The girl listened to the Knight's explanation of both verses. She wasn't entirely sure if this was something that was something that was open to interpretation or if this was some kind of strict code of fellowship. Her mind lingered on the initial recital of the code, wondering what exactly that meant. Throught victory my chains are broken? What chains exactly does she mean?

Mandy looked to Venefica and nodded in agreement with what she has said thus far. She didn't entirely understand what everything meant, but hoped it would come together when she was finished explaining the entirety of the code. If not, she would take the opportunity to ask questions.

"No questions so far. Go on, master."

With a small nod from her head, she continued. "Through Strength...I gain Power. This stanza does not refer to actual physical strength but victory through power. There are many ways victory can be achieved but unless its a victory through superiority...its no victory at all. Only by displaying your absolute power through superiority and domination to you truly gain victory. Any thing short of this is failure. Also, as you grow stronger in the Force you will find yourself fighting to maintain your power. Jealousy is an ugly monster. If challenged...do not show mercy. Kill them. If you allow them to live...they will continue to try until you are dead."

Earlier in her life when she was only an Acolyte and restrained to the confines of the temple, she had to fight on daily basis to hold onto her power and diminish the advances from potential rivals. She killed out of necessity rather than for joy. She took no satisfaction from her actions, despite the contrary beliefs from the Masters. She had been punished for the actions she took and it was then she began to see the flaws in the teachings from the temple Masters.

"Through Victory...my Chains are Broken. The phrase 'my chains are broken' refer to the restrictions that are put on you, by yourself or from others. Saying I cannot do this or do that is a form of restriction you place upon yourself. There is nothing you cannot do as long as you commit yourself to doing it. As Sith...we are free to pursue whatever our heart desires and strive for perfection."

Mandy smiled with a bit of shameful glee. This particular verse was a bit more to her liking. While she didn't garner any love for killing others, she did somewhat enjoy the idea of defeating anyone who might in the future envy her, or wish her dead. And she hadn't come this far to die so easily. She nodded in agreement.

"Understood, master. Kill those who would otherwise wish us dead. That would seem straightforward enough."

As she listened to the final stanza relating to victory and her bindings, she gripped her fists together and lowered her head in acknowledgement. "Victory, is our only path. I will accomplish great things. I will pledge myself to your endeavors, in return for your training and guidance to best our enemies and grow stronger."
