- Sensor-baffling smuggling compartments (A lot of them)
- Comprehensive defensive suite; the ship can take a pounding. The cap drains provide insulation from EMP attacks and the sort.
- Really fast.
- Modified extensively for smuggling ends.
- Easy to repair. The interior design is modular and can be modified at a dry-dock or similar stationary, non-combat arrangements.
- Weak points in the design; the transparisteel viewports are noticeably less effective than the hull and shields.
- It's really fast in a straight line, but if you want to turn corners you will need to slow down or crash into something.
- No weapons. None. If its taken off-guard, it's done.
- Needs consistent maintenance and if pushed too hard the reactor or engines can overload. Once again leaving it a sitting duck without anything to fight with.
In the end Mandal Hypernautics solved the issue with the creation of the Tegaanalir.
But that left the Daystar without a clear purpose.
One of the engineers on the project decided to continue to work on it for sentimental issues. Weapons were taken out completely, the interiors were shifted from a military-perspective to accommodate a more comfortable yet functional design. Much of the ship was reformed with automation in mind, so a single pilot could make efficient use of the ship, but even still a co-pilot is always recommended.
Parts from Silk and Iron Crown were imported, modified and then installed to round off the design as best as the engineer could. From there multiple bolt-holes were placed around the ship, little places where wares (or a handful of people) could be stashed without sensors discovering them.
The hyperdrive, engine and reactor were fine-tuned and pushed to their limit, so the Daystar would be fast enough to outpace most ships in its price-class and be capable of breaking blockades without being destroyed.
Then... one day, after the invasion of Roche, the ship was stolen.
The hull repainted, transponders shifted out and faked, any IDs burned out, until the Daystar couldn't be traced back to its origin.
Now it serves as Walker's personal ship.
Fast, hardy and capable of withstanding close scrutiny from the authorities.
