OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: TO SUB A NEVER BEFORE SEEN SPECIES TO THE GALAXY THAT WILL DO WHATEVER BECAUSE YEAH!
  • Canon: NO!
  • Links: Nah.
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Erebii
  • Designation: Non-sentient
  • Homeworld: Thral
  • Language: Telepathic Communication
  • Average Lifespan: 30-40 Years
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
  • Description:
The Erebii are the most humanoid species that can be found within the jungles of Thral. They are a curiously civilized looking race, bearing the same grace and upright posture as many other humanoids across the entire galaxy. The large difference between them is their quick, bestial movements. They act on instinct, moving quickly and responding to things the instant they happen rather than considering what to do first.

Though they appear human, many people mistake their chitinous armor like skin for plates of crafted leather or even metal. Their bone masks are often thought to be worn for ceremony or tradition, though in fact the Erebii simply grow them from their childhood. Up close the Erebii are a terrifying thing to look at, their skin black, their rudimentary clothing often stained in blood and various organs.

Each of the Erebii have long claw like fingers, sharp pointed teeth, and their eyes seemed to be naught but dead sockets in their skull.

The Erebii have a way of making one feel uncomfortable. Though obviously no one has ever actually gotten all that close to one for long, they are an odd reflection into Humanoids all over the galaxy. Though they appear to be sentient, they are in fact little more than interlinked beasts. This often evokes a feeling of dread among beings of sentience, almost as though they were looking at a twisted form of themselves.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
  • Average height of adults: 2m
  • Average length of adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Gray, Black
  • Hair color: Black, Gray
  • Distinctions:
The Erebii are set apart from other humanoids by their unique Bone armor that grows on their body.

This natural protection was formed over thousands of years of evolutionary selection. Having been first 'birthed' on the Death World known as Thral, the Erebii have survived only through natural adaption, and the greatest of this has been their bone armor. The armor itself is capable of protecting the Erebii from numerous sources of damage, including sharp teeth, claws, blasters, and even vibro-blades.

It has often been observed that the armor holds no significance within the Erebii themselves, ones bones growth do not effect how any one of the Erebii treats another.

Aside from this distinction is the Erebii's unique, almost dead looking eyes. The Erebii have no iris', no pupils, the only eye they seem to have is a deep black orb of absolute nothingness. Their stare is extremely unsettling due to this, and researchers have often commented that even looking at photographs of the Erebii have an odd sort of effect on someone that is ill-prepared.

It is these features, as well as their bestial manners, that set the Erebii apart. They look humanoid enough to from afar, but the reality is that they are a coarse reflection of sentience, little more than beasts.

[+]Link: The primary reason the Erebii are so dangerous and even terrifying is the constant link that they share. This effect is what allows the Erebii to survive on a planet that most humanoids are destined to die on. All Erebii within a certain radius are telepathically linked, allowing them to think, see, hear, and touch all at the same time. What one member of the link knows, the others do as well. This makes the Erebii extremely good hunters and pushed their coordination far above anything any ordinary humanoid could dream of. The link is a powerful connection, allowing the Erebii to survive, and even thrive in the environment of Thral. They are in essence a singular being with thousands of bodies, all working towards the same goal.
[+]Bone Armor: The bone armor that is naturally grown by all Erebii is incredibly effective in it's environment. The bone is naturally capable of withstanding quite a bit of punishment. It is able to survive through most of the natural dangers on Thral as well as some effects that are not so common. Blasters, claws, vibro-blades, and heavy amount of impact can all be survived by the Erebii bone armor.
  • Weaknesses:
[-]Link: This link is not any sort of intelligence, and even the collective consciousness of hundreds of Erebii would still be little more than a beast driven to its base desires(Food, mating, etc). The Erebii do not get any smarter the more of them there are, and the size of the link depends entirely on how many are already within it(The more there are, the bigger the link can become). It was also discovered that the Link is born of a natural connection through the force, and thus can be severed or taken advantage of by a powerful enough force user, though attempting to disrupt the entire link of a pack can be disastrously dangerous due to the overwhelming 'might' of the bestial consciousness. Due to this a powerful force user might be able to seize control of one or two Erebii easily, put attempting to take the entire 'pack' numbering in the thousands, hundreds, or even dozens would be absolutely disastrous. Their collective consciousness would be like a ripdtide, tearing away at a Force users consciousness until they are little more than a drooling mess.
[-]Stupid Alone: If the link of an Erebii can be severed, or if one Erebii somehow managed to make it's way out of the link, they are incredibly stupid and useless alone. The Erebii are not a species that is used to having only one body present, and as such their ability to function as a single solitary unit is next to none. A lone Erebii could be easily beaten in a fight by even a toddler, and it is not uncommon to see an Erebii walking into walls or trees if they are out of the link.
[-]Neck: At the base of every Erebii's neck is a spot that links to the creatures entire neurological system. Stabbing this base area, or shooting it with a blaster will result in immediate and near instant death. The only issue with this is that the spot moves a few inches depending on the Erebii's size, gender, and of course bone armor growths.

CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivorous
  • Communication:
Telepathic Link
  • Technology level:
Though the Erebii appear to be humanoid, they are anything but. Their collective intelligence as a species is barely above that of a very clever Nexu. Despite this however the Erebii have figured out how to make rudimentary clothes and weapons. These often amount to little more than short spears, rags made of animal hides, and knives made of rocks.
  • Religion/Beliefs:
N/A
  • General behavior:
The Erebii are a bestial race.

They do not truly think or even truly understand what life is. Their behavior is based on little more than survival impulses. Comparing them to other animals like Nexu or Acklay's would not be entirely off key. They are indeed a predator species, all working together to ensure the collective survival of the species. Their natural inclinations are to hunt, mate, and propagate themselves as much as possible.

Erebii are naturally driven to work together, their Telapthic link meaning they are essentially born to another set of eyes and ears for the species.

This unique gift allows the Erebii to move together like no other race in the galaxy, and ensures a natural cooperation at all times. There is no infighting among the Erebii, no arguments for food, and no competition between males. Everything that the Erebii do is in order to ensure the survival and propagation of the species.

Like many other species on Thral, the Erebii are intensely territorial. Alone they are far from the top of the food chain, but linked together they are perhaps the fiercest predators on the entire planet. Working together the Erebii defend and protect what is 'theirs' often taking down many of Thral's Apex Predators. This makes them something to avoid even on a world of Death, and many researches quickly learned this lesson when approaching them.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Like most species, the history of the Erebii is not a well known one.

The only thing that can truly be said about the species is that they are one of the more well studied on Thral, though this is mostly due to no fault of their own. Since those fauna born on Thral tend to be intensely deadly even in isolation, it is incredibly difficult to actually experiment on live subjects.

The same cannot be said for Erebii.

Their nature as a communal race means that isolated Erebii become incredible docile and even idiotic. All it took to study this species further was the capture of one single member of the race. Moross Crusade scientists managed this with relative ease, nabbing one of the creatures after it had wandered off from the rest of it's group.

Through this single being the Moross researchers were able to establish a number of different facts about the Erebii and their capabilities. Various tests were applied onto the creature. It's strengths and weaknesses were mapped out, it's reaction to certain stimuli, and everything else one could figure out.
In their glee, the researchers became somewhat overconfident and decided they had the run of the Erebii.

Their lesson was soon learned when the researchers attempted to approach the species in the wilds of Thral. Upon getting close to one of the Erebii they were soon set upon by dozens of the bestial humanoids, cut to ribbon and sliced to pieces before they could even begin to process what had happened.

Like every other species on Thral the Erebii were quickly designated as unfriendly predators not to be engaged.

Very cool, but I'd like more specificity and limits around Force control. As I read it, Erebii hive mind plus telepathic Forcer equals Forcer with a few thousand ultra-durable, perfectly-coordinated bodies. I'm pretty sure that's not what you're aiming for, but someone could try it.

Attempting to take control of more than a handful of Erebii would be absolutely disastrous for even the most powerful force user. The collective consciousness of a few thousand or even hundred of Erebii would be enough to turn any force user into a blithering idiot.

Sort of like a single man trying to stop a landslide by hand.

This if vaguely touched on in the sub but i will edit it into making it more clear.
