The Fall of a Titan

She should have used her lightsaber, instead it was a projectile-based weapon close to melee range. Jared lunged for her, the ball rushed past him, barely touching his silhouette. Hair singed and there were weird light spots visible, but at that point his skin touched her neck.

The Sith Lord didn’t forget what she was, he kept his calm and applied the tenth of a tenth of pressure that he could muster, while at the same time pulling out the earplugs that were protecting her from the sonic device she had thrown out moments ago.

This was her opportunity.

She could ignite her lightsaber and probably kill him.

It probably wouldn’t change a lot for the outcome, but some things… were simply satisfying.

Aleidis was well aware that she could light her sabre and take an evil man's life. But even a ruined life is a sacred thing, only to be extinguished when absolutely every other resource has been exhausted.

Aleidis hesitated, and lost. She would not take a life again.

He plucked her earplugs out, and Aleidis was abruptly exposed to the full, horrific trilling of her own sonic grenades - all of that horrible vibration, brain-melting noise exploding at once. The Ghostling girl arched her back, giving an agonized scream, before the sonic grenades rendered her blissfully unconscious. It was helped along somewhat by the pain of having her neck gripped in place as she writhed, a sort of thing that could have killed her a couple of years ago. Twitching, eyes rolled back in her head, Aleidis was down for the count.

Ovmar sighed, another Titan had fallen. But he didn’t kid himself, didn’t try and gloat about the whole affair. The only reason he was still alive was because she had decided not to ignite that lightsaber of hers.

Of course it wouldn’t have changed the situation. Earplugs out she would still have been collected by his men and secured, and eventually he’d have returned. But this had been a learning experience, a certain underlining of a fact he had already known to be true.

He wasn’t a fighter, probably never would be. His strength was plotting in the shadows and bringing enemies down through intrigue, this had been too much of a close-call.

At any rate.

His men walked in and collected the Jedi Master, blood trails and flow-walking were populair ventures these days. It was how Rave had done most of her jobs tracking down people, Jared didn’t know if Aleidis had any of those connections, but neither would he take the risk.

His connection with the Mandalorians provided though. She’d be placed in an yslamari-shielded cage, nobody would be able to track her. At least not until he was ready for ‘em.

Another day survived, Ovmar. What’s next on the list?
