DESCRIPTION
The Melody is a shortsword vibroblade meant to be used with one hand by a humanoid being. It has a hefty weight thanks to its incorporation of CP90 Durasteel in its alloy; an odd choice for a sword, to be sure, but the mind of a child is rarely conventional in operation. The balance of the blade is less suited to a being of tall stature, and better made for one of average or below-average height. Relatively speaking, very few of these swords were ever made. However, most Helfast pieces were unique, or made in runs of 2-7, so ~36 sold is an impressive figure in comparison.
Reputation is the sum of what a man does each day. Memorizing ancient treatises and maintaining foundry equipment are all well and good, but there comes a time when every student smith must put those things aside. At a young age, a Helfast apprentice will, for the first time ever, design a sword. For the rest of their life, that sword is all they will ever forge; over and over and over again, until the day their hands perfectly create the dream they had seen. Workmen toil over pieces of another's vision; artists release the colors of their mind into the galaxy, and play for others the song of their heart.

SPECIAL FEATURES
- Vardium Alloy: The foundry process has removed most of the tell-tale blue Vardium sheen from this sword's blade. However, it is still remarkably cold to the touch, seemingly regardless of the surrounding temperature.
STRENGTHS
- Lessons of Masters: This sword was forged using the secret metallurgy techniques of the Helfast family. Its alloy contains more than simply steel...
- Labor of Diligence: Forged by hand over several days, this sword is not a product of mass-construction. The craftsmanship is meticulous, every iota inspected for error.
- Best of Two Steels: A combination of Vardium's hardness and CP90's toughness, this sword holds its edge and shape very well, while also being exceedingly difficult to break.
- A Student's Lesson: Serving as early practice, these swords were made by Roan Helfast while he still a boy. Some may be more perfect in their make and form than others.
- A Death by Sound: The Vardium in this sword's alloy will only briefly protect it from a direct sonic attack. After 15 seconds at most, the sword is history.
- A Rare Discovery: The Fallen Melody swords were made by hand, one at a time, by a student smith. Fewer than 40 were ever made. Finding one now would be a challenge.
