Private The Farmboy and the Battlemaster

Resisting every temptation to take a closer look and disrupt the lesson, Jack maintained his distance with folded arms, smiling appreciatively at their general surroundings. The room called out to him, sabers yearning to be used, to master, his natural urges shining through by the brightened expression on his face.

Yet again, Jack withheld his zeal, to the best of abilities. Observing the few spars going on, the Knight watched in an observant eye and remarked in amusement. "I think we know where I'll be between missions." Still, the fondness for the art reveberated in that deep tone of voice.

Valery watched Jack with an approving smile, her arms loosely crossed as she noted his clear enthusiasm for the training room. "It's good to see you're already thinking about how to sharpen your skills," she said with a touch of warmth. "But training can only take you so far on an empty stomach."

She turned and gestured toward the door. "Come on, Jack. Let's head to the dining hall. I'll show you where to refuel between all those sparring sessions you're planning." Her tone was light, but the inviting smile lingered as she led the way out.

Absolutely no objections on his behalf, Jack smiled widely as he found himself, once again, accompanying the kind, friendly Jedi Master. Any unease walking alongside the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, had long past by their open interactions.

On the way leaving what was essentially the dojo, Jack found himself swaying his slim arms back and forth, humming chirpily in his enjoyment around Noble's presence. The thrum of the Force vibrant in light positivity.

Valery couldn't help but chuckle as she caught sight of Jack's carefree swaying and heard the soft hum of his tune. The lighthearted energy he brought with him was infectious, and she let the corners of her lips tug into a gentle smile.

"You've got a knack for making a simple walk feel like a parade," she teased, glancing at him with playful warmth. "Enjoying yourself, Knight Wright?"

Her tone was light, but her words carried genuine appreciation for his cheerful presence. "Let's hope you still feel this way after we tackle what's next."

By such a notion, Jack ticked an intrigued brow his superior's way. Unable to hide his own brimming mirth when he inquired, in sheer amusement, "Does the food have a fifty-fifty chance on poisoning the members, Master?"

Valery chuckled softly, shaking her head at Jack's playful remark. "No, the food here is perfectly safe," she replied, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "The real danger is eating too much before training. Trust me, nothing derails a sparring session faster than someone regretting that extra plate of stew."

She crossed her arms lightly, leaning just a bit toward him. "But hey, if you think you can handle a little feast before a workout, feel free to test your luck." Her smirk hinted at a challenge, her tone teasing.

"Well lucky for you, I haven't eaten, yet." Jack remarked with good nature, crossing his arms once again as they reached towards the mess hall, ignoring the fleeting pang in his stomach by the mere mention of food.

No need to make a show of it in front of an important audience.

"And lucky for me, I don't even like stew. Set me up with nuna legs and I'll call it a day!"

Valery grinned, her amber eyes glinting with playful amusement as they reached the dining hall's entrance. "Nuna legs, huh? You've got good taste," she said with a chuckle. "But let's hope you don't regret skipping the stew — it's a Temple classic."

She pushed open the double doors, revealing the bustling dining hall. Jedi of all ranks sat at long tables, the room filled with the hum of conversation and the occasional clatter of dishes. The aroma of a variety of foods wafted through the air, and Valery gestured broadly. "Well, here we are. Let's see if they've got your nuna legs."

Valery then paused and smirked at him, "Unless you want to keep dinner for later, of course," she teased.

The Knight smirked wide back, entertaining this game for as long as the Grandmaster was, stepping inside to the bustling halls. Yet his attention, despite the waft of food in the air, remained solely upon the host. "Is that an invitation, Grandmaster?"

Valery’s lips curled into a sly smile, her eyes twinkling with amusement as she stepped further into the dining hall. She tilted her head slightly, giving Jack an appraising look.

“An invitation?” she echoed, her tone light but teasing. “Maybe, if you think you’re up for the challenge.”

She gestured toward the food stations with a graceful sweep of her hand. “But first, let’s get a quick snack for on the way that doesn’t slow you down in training."

Opting to snort at such a notion, Jack followed after in a note of eagerness. Rather intrigued to view what was on the menu, today, "I can take just about anything and keep going, Grandmaster." It wasn't spoken in hubris or pride, simply a statement of fact.

Valery chuckled softly, her eyes gleaming with both amusement and challenge as she led the way toward the food stations. "Is that so, Knight Wright?" she said, glancing over her shoulder. "Well, I’ll be keeping an eye on you during our next training session. Let’s see if your endurance lives up to your confidence."

She stopped in front of a station offering a variety of options and picked up a tray. "Now, show me what this unshakable energy of yours feeds on." Her smirk hinted at playful skepticism.

The menu had just about everything.

Sliding up down the options, Jack inhaled the aroma of choices, his sense prickled in anticipation. Whilst picking out the meals, the Jedi Knight offered in light humour, "Speaking of the training mats, do you often spar for a hobby?"

Seeing no reason not to ask, making light conversation with the Grandmaster.

Valery's face lit up with a smile as she selected her meal. "Oh, I absolutely love sparring," she said, her tone carrying both enthusiasm and fondness. "It's one of my favorite things to do, whether it's training for serious combat or just winding down after a long day. There's something incredibly grounding about it, the way it sharpens your focus and clears your mind."

She glanced Jack's way with a playful gleam in her eyes. "Why? That eager to step into the ring with me sometime?"

"And get my posterior whooped for the entire crowd to see; peers, Padawans and Masters alike?" Jack mused, evidently humoured while selecting some sauce, his wry smile evident. Casting the superior Jedi a glance. "With Healers on stand by?"

Valery chuckled softly, her arms crossing as she leaned slightly against the counter, her gaze teasing but warm. "Oh, come on, Knight Wright," she said, tilting her head. "You're telling me a Jedi Knight like you wouldn't enjoy the challenge? Besides," she added with a smirk, "the Healers are used to patching up overconfident Knights."

She leaned in slightly, lowering her voice just enough to add a playful edge. "But hey, if you're too scared to take a hit in front of the Padawans, I can always go easy on you."

It was probably obvious at this point — she loved to tease.

"...Your attempt to toy with my fragile ego won't achieve anything." Yet Jack's eyes told a different story, narrowing hazel by the coy challenge. Unable to resist his widened grin as they finished selecting their dishes, the young Knight pondered what was being offered, and how it could be used to improve one's self.

A chance to spare with the Grandmaster.

"Maybe after the tour?" He proposed, his smirk eager now, widening on every sentence. "Far be it from me to decline an invitation to the salles, Grandmaster."

Valery chuckled softly, her amber eyes sparkling with amusement as she folded her arms across her chest. "Fragile ego, huh? You hide it well," she teased, her tone light but carrying that unmistakable edge. She could see right through his smirk and the excitement that practically radiated from him.

"After the tour, then," Valery agreed with a slight nod, her own smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "But I hope you're ready, Jack. I don't go easy on eager Knights." There was a playful warning in her tone, but also an underlying truth. She believed in pushing others to their limits, especially those who showed potential and drive.

She motioned for him to follow her as they carried their meals toward a nearby table. "We'll see if you're still smiling after a few rounds," she added, a sly grin spreading across her face. "But first, let's eat. You're going to need your strength."

Lunch was lovely, given the company. The food was nice, too, the Knight supposed, but the rapt attention was upon his company, as opposed for the warm meal itself.

Once disposed of their trays, Jack followed Master Noble for the next location, arms tucked neatly within his robes. Curious about their next venture, wherever the Grandmaster may lead them.

Valery smiled softly as she led Jack through the Temple's winding corridors, her steps light but purposeful. The tour had been an enjoyable one — sharing the heart of the New Jedi Order with a fellow Jedi always reminded her of the depth of their mission. But now, it was time for the final stop.

She paused in front of a large set of turbolift doors, the sleek design an understated contrast to the ancient architecture around them. Turning slightly, she gestured for Jack to step inside with her. "This," she said with a small, knowing smile, "Is the last stop on our tour."

The doors slid shut, and the lift began its smooth ascent. Valery clasped her hands in front of her, glancing at Jack. "I thought we'd end with a view that never gets old."

Moments later, the lift slowed to a stop, and the doors opened to reveal the Council Chambers. The room was grand but serene, with its circular layout and high windows that offered an unparalleled view of Coruscant's skyline. Towers stretched into the horizon, the city bathed in a warm, golden light as the sun began its descent.

Valery stepped forward, her gaze sweeping over the breathtaking vista. "Every time I stand here, I'm reminded of the scale of our responsibility," she said, her voice quiet but carrying the weight of her words. "All those lives out there, depending on us to keep the peace and protect what they've built."
