The Festival of Glad Arrival [ Open To All! ]

MXbQTWc.png
There are no specific objectives to this thread. Feel free to enjoy the festival, mingle, be sneaky, spy, abduct someone, or what have you! HAVE FUN!
Weeks in the planning, the Pastoral Collective had been hard at work preparing for the coming festival. Glad Arrival, as it were; A spring time celebration deep within the secluded lake county of Naboo. Lush meadows, azure water, gentle falls and blooming flowers ushered in the season each year. A tradition of the Naboo, the event welcomed all and included day and evening entertainment and surprises. Tens of thousands of children and adults alike gathered throughout the county to join in the festivities. Musicians, artists, and actors from across the galaxy and domestically captivated audiences from atop three large stages. Carnival rides were to be found throughout the perimeter, in between games of chance and skill, with plenty of prizes to win. Bright lights, signs, and spruikers called to passersby to draw them towards dozens of vendors and shoppes. The sweet aroma of sweets, snacks, and food wafted through the air, carrying with it the temptation to indulge ones self for a small fee.

It was here, today, that the festival would be had.
At night, multicolored lights lit the waters over the great falls for a fantastic display, complete with dancers, fire breathers, baton twirling, color guard, and a one hour finale of fireworks that would shake the very ground viewers sat upon to close out the evening. Special torches, each with a burning ember of the Eternal Flame lit the pathways to and from the festival, protected by a unique transparisteel case to prevent accidental fire damage to the nearby environment. Due diligence had already been performed preceding the event by the RSF to ensure safety of those participating and partaking in the occasion. Many plain clothed guard, as well as uniformed security forces would be present throughout the day, though generally these were called upon during cases of lost children, personal affects, or directions. To date, there had been only a handful of minor incidences requiring intervention. Generally these included cases of public drunkenness, minor vandalism, or theft.

Festivals and celebrations that embraced nature were particular favorites of one Jamie Pyne, now the newly elected Queen. The Jedi, as she also was, would be expected to make an appearance at the celebration. In past years, a floral sundress, and a hat to match had been her attire of choice. Now that she were queen, it was assumed that she would dress as a queen. The crown, the makeup, complete with the Scar of Remembrance were all standard procedure, as was the vibrant dress with organza petals and royal sigil atop the tabard. The length of time it took the girl's handmaidens to properly groom and prep the Queen was substantially longer than previous years. An incredibly early morning is what that had amounted to in the end, however finally she and the other handmaidens were prepared for the day's festivities and what this year's celebration might bring. By the time Jamie, her handmaidens, and the small contingent of RSF arrived, the festival was just getting underway. Inevitably, a crowd began to gander as the group entered the clearing in the meadow to the bustling livelihood that was the Glad Arrival to catch a glimpse of the Queen as she made her entrance.

It hadn't really been all that easy to get away. Kaile was getting far along and as that progressed Kurt felt the need to be by her side more and more, eventually it had gotten to a point where he felt bad about even going to get groceries, but his roommate was always the type of person to insist that everyone else should get to do everything they wanted before she got anything at all. That was who Kaile was, and it was that attitude that made her such a good friend.

It was that very same attitude that lead Kurt to Naboo on this very night.

After lots of insisting, conversation, and outright arguing, the two had finally agreed that Kurt would be alright to leave for just one day. They got to have more than a few vacation days in their time surveying, especially with the war that was now going on between the First Order and the Galactic Alliance, and Kaile had promised that if anything went wrong she would call him immediately. The trip from Naboo to the little moon that they had parked The Messa on was only a few hours by hyperdrive, and thus it would be easy enough to return if anything happened.

Of course the second difficulty of the night was getting in to the party.

Kurt had wanted to surprise Jamie with his appearance, and thus he hadn't really called ahead.

Of course on his arrival he had gently been reminded by one of the visiting tourists that entry to the Festival actually required...well getting past security. It was an obstacle that in his eagerness hadn't really thought of, and of course calling Jamie now would just ruin the surprise. Thus Kurt had done what any sensible man would have, he had taken his old, and now likely defunct, SIS credentials and altered them slightly.

He hoped that the Naboo Security forces would just take him at face value. He wore a nice suit, combed his hair, and even shaved in an effort to look nice. The plan was generally a simple one, pose as an SIS operative just helping out the locals, and then slip into the party so that he could reach Jamie. In theory it was simple enough, and since he was a fairly good liar he was confident he could pull it off. At least he thought so anyway.

A shrug rolled over his shoulder as he headed up the small hill towards the party, taking in the sights of the lake district as he went.

He had come to Naboo to see the festival, he wasn't one for pleasantries or even divulging in the happier side of life, but his mother always told him about the great Glad festival held on Naboo. This year he had finally made it around to see it, only for her, just for her.

He stood out in the crowds, they wore lighter, brighter clothing while he remained in a simple black shirt and black pants. He stood towards the back as everyone gathered to see the queen. He had heard that the crown of the people of Naboo was held by one of most fairest maidens of them all, but he merely shook his thought, he had heard the stories about her anyways, no lady like that would get with a simple man like him, despite his pull towards the dark that is.

He watched as the crowd gathered more and more people, he shrunk further and further back but made sure that he could see the entrance of the queen, no matter what he thought about his chances, he would like to see a woman so fair to have the praise of the people. His eyes did not stray far from where she was suppose to enter but he looked around a bit. He didn't think much about what would happen after she made her entrance and what he would do, but he'd just have to find out.

Been months since his last trip to Naboo--his home. Myles only went to Naboo to visit his mother, who always tried to make him go to events and meet new people.

If mother wasn't happy, then no one is happy. This trip to visit his mother resulted in her telling him to attend the festival for old time sake. His mother Lenior would take him when he was a young lad, they would have so much fun in the pretty Naboo weather whether it was eating, playing games or just enjoying each others company.

Only this time, mother wasn't able to attend. She was getting too old and she got to where she didn't leave home. Myles attended the festival in honor of her and to relive those old memories.

Coming up to the festival's location Myles felt a calming breeze sweep over him, the smell of lush grass with a hint of blossoms entered his nose. He closed his eyes and he was a kid again, hearing his mother calling to him "Come on Myles, we're gonna be late!!! The fireworks will start without us!!!" Myles found himself vulnerable at this point. A tear rolled down his cheek. Time flew by, and he was all alone in this mess he called a life.

Shaking the feeling of guilt and sadness out of him he approached the grounds where the festival was and he was greeted by performers, to which he always fancied the fire-breathers for some reason. Doing something so life-threatening yet made it into an art. Myles hoped to achieve that with his military career on Naboo, but that was shot to smithereens.

He could hear people gasp and hush down moments later. The Queen of Naboo; [member="Jamie Pyne"] was making her entrance in a vibrant dress. This was the new Queen of Naboo? Boy she is young. I have to make sure I say hello to her. That would be awfully rude of me.

Before he would make his way to the Queen; Myles walked around the perimeter some more, noticing the uniformed security. Same miserable uniforms I see? Everybody was so happy and vibrant, he questioned why he left Naboo in the first place.

I really gotta settle down before I am dead.

It was her in years past that stood in those crowds, staring out waiting for the royals of the crown to arrive. Even born nobility took to viewing the spectacle from time to time. Now that it was she that was the spectacle, it seemed strange, almost alien. Viewing the same scene through a different perspective changed things. A hand raised, and the queen gave a small, polite waive to the onlookers, both children and adults alike. A simple smile parted her cherry stained lips. Alongside were two RSF guards, and trailing behind the queen were her entourage of handmaidens, all dressed in vibrant orange, their hoods pulled up over their sun-soaked blonde hair.

The sea of people parted as the group passed through, dozens of quick flashes as photos were taken from all around. It seemed not to bother the woman as they proceeded towards the covered seating area just up the way, surrounded by a small flower field on either side, overlooking a small portion of the meadow but still in sight of the majority of the festival.

Much of what Jamie enjoyed as a child could not be fully appreciated now, given her position. Gone were the days she could wander off and explore the lake country on her own, swim in the untamed rivers and streams, or lose herself in a cave for hours on end. The queen's job was to be visible to the people, and to oversee the day's festivities. But that didn't mean she couldn't indulge in a game or two, a ride, or entertain those who wished to speak.

In hindsight it would have been a heck of a lot easier just to call Jamie up in the first place, especially since Kurt hadn't really thought about the consequences of what would happen if someone found out his credentials were safe.

Of course eventually he would probably get out of it, his girlfriend was the Queen of this planet after all, but she would likely be very angry at him for doing something so stupid. For a moment he hesitated as he approached the line of security guards, thinking that maybe..."Nah."

Kurt said to himself.

He wanted this to be a surprise, and the best way to do that was to just show up. He was resourceful, smart enough, and before he'd left Kaile had given him a few pointers. Her biggest piece of advice had just been to act like he belonged, to show everyone that they had no reason to be concerned for his presence. In truth that would be easy. He wasn't here to Hurt anyone after all, just to see his girlfriend. So as he approached the guards he gave a broad smile.

"Hey gents." He put on his best core world accent. "Just here to check up on things."

He flashed the SIS credentials. They were all legit of course, since he'd actually been an agent...it just so happened they were expired. "Checking up, ya know?"

The guard glanced at the credentials, frowned for a moment and then glanced back at his boss. The two seemed to discuss something for a moment.

"You from the Alliance."

"Hm? Oh yeah. Yeah just here to take in the sight, you know." He gave the guard a look which seemed to work, after a moment the guard simply nodded and waved him through into the festival.

Music was in full swing at this celebration. Same celebration song that they used to have every other year he attended, except it was different faces singing and playing the music but it still sounded so sweet and magnificent. Although the song was a short one, he made sure not to miss a single second of it.

During the finale he felt a tug on his pantleg, it was a small boy couldn't have been no older than 6 years old. The boy relented to Myles "Hi Mister, are you okay? I saw you crying earlier."

Myles hoped no one noticed that, but alas it was a young lad, who may or may not live on this place for the rest of his life
"I am fine son, been a while since i have been home. I cried because I was homesick, now run along; this festival won't last long! Have fun lad!"

He pat the boy on the shoulder, signaling him to run along. Have fun while you still can lad, peace may not exist in your lifetime completely. I know it doesn't in mine.
The Queen of Naboo was nearing their position with her armed escorts. He took this opportunity to wave at the Queen and give a genuine smile.

That won't do, you actually got to pay respects to the Queen and say hello.

Myles would work his way up to the Queen once she has settled in to the festival, as to not intrude on her matters. Who knows, the Queen might try to have some fun here as well.

B'kik

The cutest capitalist thief you will ever see
B'kik heard stories of the festivals on Naboo and decided loo year he would come and check it out
After alot of negotiation he was able to setup a store and some games for loo years festival
B'kik's festival stall was pretty simple
B'kik would be pukay blue milk ice-cream while next to his stall people could playdunk the tusken and also pay for bantha rides that were ran by a couple of jawas that were employed by B'kik
Being jawas with a tusken was enough to bring in customers that were mainly kids
B'kik underestimated how popular his stall would be mainly with children
B'kik was also hoping to see the queen of Naboo and get her to nye something from his stall preferably a bantha ride so then Utinni Traded Goods will get more reputation and potential customers from more "civilised" plantets than tatooine

He ran his hands over his face. Been a few weeks since what happened at The Trooper. He'd had a gun in his mouth there. He could blame it on the drink, but the bitter reality hit him hard. He pushed the thoughts out of his head, and touched his ear. Comm check. Didn't need to speak. A simple blip on the mics from the security detail meant that they were receiving. That, and it was less obvious than someone talking into a cuff or a collar. He turned his head, walking behind [member="Jamie Pyne"]. He was wearing a three piece, with a Havoc Squad pin on the collar, and cufflinks from some stone that was native to Naboo. Naboo was peaceful, a stark contrast to the turmoil and inner demons that he possessed. Helped him feel at ease. That, and being assigned to protect the Queen was nice. Easy gig, for the most part.

He hated crowds. He hated noise.

But Jamie was a good Queen. Real people person. Been good to these people. They needed it. The galaxy needed genuine leaders. She was one. He touched the gun in his waistband- out of habit alone. He blinked rapidly. Adrenaline surged. He was planning for the worst. The two guards and the dozen or so on the detail wouldn't be enough. He could maybe handle one Sith, but a whole army of 'em, or a couple of assassins would really ruin the party. He stopped, and pulled the gun out. Pulled the slide back. Racked a round. He was hot and ready to go. He tucked it back into his waistband and joined the Queen, about ten feet behind her and offset about sixty degrees. Good shooting position.

An older man walked up to her. He looked military. The security detail took up a fan-shaped geometry. If he tried anything, six guys could dump a magazine into him without fear of blue-on-blue. Civilians might get hit, but that would be better than Jamie getting cleaved at a party. Then again, it could be an old man paying respects. Which is what the party was about. He motioned for the detail to keep the geometric shooting positions, but relax.

After all, it was a party.

Glacier-blue eyes gazed out at the proceedings. He'd received yet another request from his father, representation of House Veruna at the Festival of Glad Arrival. It was the second 'festival' he'd visited in recent times, the first thanks to the ever-alluring [member="Mira Rekali"]. His mind briefly drifted back to that point in time. As was typical, he'd had rather little contact with woman since they last parted ways. Commitments abroad for the family he was steadily growing to accept more and more had kept what little social schedule he maintained rather busy. Then there had been the operation on Hoth.

At least, Isar had long since stopped fighting against the reality of his genetics. Dressed in the typical dark blue and gold of House Veruna, Isar engaged in idle chatter with some noble he'd never met. The young Zeison Sha's true involvement in the conversation was superficial at best. That was a part of the young man's double life that he still struggled against. In fact, he wondered if any truly knew of his activities with the Galactic Alliance through the remnants of Omega Pyre.

Doubtful.

Managing a fake, warm smile, Isar laughed at the tenth terrible joke he'd heard in the last five minutes until suddenly the attention of the crowd diverted to the arrival of [member="Jamie Pyne"], Queen of Naboo. The moment their attentions were so diverted, Isar's expression flattened and he rolled his eyes, taking the opportunity to step away from the larger group. Standing quietly off to his own, Isar allowed his ice-blue gaze to roam the surroundings. The Lake Country truly was beautiful, and he applauded his father's decision to build the Veruna Estate not far from where they presently stood. Slowly, he tracked his gaze back to where the Queen was arriving. He knew very little about the woman underneath the crown...just her reputation really.

Perhaps that would change today...perhaps not. It seemed there was no limit to the amount of individuals ready to flock to her side for...whatever purpose.

The girl nodded, acknowledged and waived to the crowd. There were many faces, most she did not recognize, others she did. Some of her childhood friends had even arrived, people she hadn't seen in quite some time. Other nobles were present, as well as those that had nominated her for the very position she now held. A warm, glowing smile flashed, and as she passed by [member="Myles Davorak"] with [member="Kaiden Rohn"] alongside she offered the man a similar smile and waive, as well as a small nod and a silent hello.

Soft azure eyes looked about elsewhere, taking note of the RSF that were ensuring the safety of the event goers. For the most part Jamie was well confident that she could protect herself, should something go wrong. However in all of her years thus far, as well as records dating back for over twenty years more, the festival had not been victim of attack, thus the likelihood that the day's celebration would go off without a hitch was rather high.

Little did Jamie know that [member="Kurt Meyer"] was sneaking his way through her RSF forces, having been accustomed to seeing Alliance operatives on the world to conduct business, it was no surprise that they did not relay that information to the blonde or her entourage. The morning sun beat down on the lake country, rays glistening off the nearby stream with such radiant beauty it was difficult not to marvel in its' glow.

For a long minute the group paused, simply in observance, before taking up their seat beneath the covered area nearby.

Eventually Kurt managed to wrangle his way through the security guards and end up at what seemed like the most happening place.

The crowd had gathered around a focal point that Kurt couldn't quite make out, though from everything that was happening he guessed that it was either some fantastic stage theater or the Queen herself arriving. He pulled aside a man standing at the edge of the crowd, talking to him for just a quick moment before his suspicions were confirmed. He smiled a broad smile when the man answered him, grinning like a loon as he turned to wander through the crowd.

What he quickly found of course was...well getting through would be impossible. "Poodoo."

Kurt cursed quietly, his realization that this might not work the way he wanted it to coming quickly. He frowned for just a moment, observing everything around himself and then spotting a nearby roof top. He frowned for a moment, glanced around, then slowly made his way over towards the gutter of the building.

Without a word or a bit of warning Kurt shimmied his way up the gutter pipe, thanking the force or whatever deity that Naboo construction was sound. After a few moments the Courier managed to grab onto the roof of the building, pulling himself up with a few strained grunts and eventually landing himself on the slanted roof. For a moment he grinned, then slowly slid down the side until he could see the central courtyard. There he spotted Jamie, only a few meters away.

From his vantage point he could make out everything about her, the silly paint on her face, the look of joy in her eyes, the slight sense of nerves that flashed in the way she walked. The Courier grinned, locking eyes with his girlfriend for just a split second as she spotted him.

Then he waved.

As Myles waved at the Queen of Naboo, he noticed one of the security guards eye him and walk defensively. Easy there cochise, just an old man visiting home. He thought. What a day this would be if he were to be shot for being too close to the Queen. He understood though, security protocols and all; he understood and respected the man's actions.

Backing away a few subtle steps he hoped that the man would ease up. Wait.....Havoc Squad. This man really means business. He knew that Havoc Squad was essentially elite of the elite in traditional military standards. Then again, Naboo wasn't traditional military.

After the Queen had waved back and gave an impromptu hello, Myles waited until the Queen was seated safely in her covered area before walking away. Force knows that if I try to say hello or give a bow, I might get shot. He chuckled. That would be a dark thing to happen.

To heck with it. Myles walked up near the covered area to give his respects. An RSF guard stopped him "Back away sir, I am authorized to use whatever force necessary."

"No harm done sir, I just wished to pay my respects for the Queen, I have never met her. I understand though, could you at least give her my respects? Name is Myles Davorak. I would really appreciate it"

Walking away he gave a slight frown. Well that didn't go as expected. At least he tried though. Approaching an alcove where a balcony was, he leaned over and observed the festival really kicking off then he saw someone. Is that guy sneakin' around? He doesn't look like good news. Myles was conflicted whether to inform the guards or not. Eh, he would see what happens next.

The Jawa’s market location brimmed with life. Children rushed around or fidgeted in line, slurped ice bluecream, clambered up bantha saddles. A ball struck a paddle, and a hapless fellow in Tusken wrappings plopped into what Tatooine would consider a drinkable fortune. A tall old Whiphid stood in line for the bantha rides, licking placidly at a waffle cone. As the knee-high queue shifted, so did he. The day wasn't oppressively hot by local standards, but he still found himself sweating under layers of fur and burlap. Cholesterol or not, he sorely regretted not getting the double scoop.

Velok handed over correct change and climbed into the bantha's saddle. The immense animal suited him well in terms of scale.

"Gharak, son of V'eloqq," he said honestly, looking down at the Jawa proprietor. He leaned forward and patted the bantha's flank, connecting with its simple mind. Unlike him, furred or not, the bantha considered the breeze cool and refreshing.

"Thank you for your bantha." He grinned, displaying blue teeth. "And ice cream."

As luck would have it, Mira was brought back to Naboo for a second time – coincidentally during a second festival. She had been acquired by some dealer on Chandrilla to deliver some wines and other delicacies for the festival. Luck played even further into her life and managed to get her into the more secure areas of the festival, amongst the nobility. Of course, Mira had to ensure she looked like she belonged to some degree. A simple sundress. Of course Mira would have loved to wear something better but neither time nor her wardrobe would have permitted such a thing. The dress itself was a pastel blue and didn’t contain any floral patterns. It did, however, have intricate vine like designs about the dress, in white lace. Of course, she couldn’t be seen around anyone of nobility without her overly large, obnoxious sun hat – one she had grown accustomed to hiding beneath when she spent time at the lake country with Isar.

Mira clapped her hands softly, quietly ordering something to be placed somewhere and other things to be placed elsewhere. She had hoped the job would be done by now but unfortunately, it wasn’t and she knew the nobility would grow impatient with the delays.

“Miss?” The sound of a scruff voice caught her attention as she turned to face a burly looking guard standing over her.

Mira looked around at the workers who continued about their business and then back to the guard. “Uh, yeah?”

The guard smiled and gestured towards the crowd of nobility gathering. “The lords and ladies request a fresh bottle of Toniray.”

Mira let off a sigh of relief before nodding. “Sure.” She turned to the open crate and pulled free a magenta colored bottle, gazing at it as she walked towards the crowded area filled with nobility. She paid no mind to those she gently pushed passed or excused herself between until she caught a glimpse of a face out of the corner of her eye – just barely.

She stopped and turned to face [member="Isar Kislo"] just as he looked elsewhere, seemingly distant in his own thoughts. “No way…” She whispered. For a moment, she was frozen solid in fear. Uncertain of what he’d think or how he’d react if she approached and spoke to him. Would he be so different being amongst the nobility of Naboo? Or would he be that same guy she was with out in the lake country.

Only one way to tell....

~Here goes nothing…~ She thought as she reached up and gently tapped him on the shoulder.

Isar's gaze shifted just as [member="Jamie Pyne"] and her entourage reached the covered seating area. The attendants of the festival were gradually starting to usher the rest of the nobility to their seats, most of them arrayed in close proximity to the Queen. Naturally, those with the greatest status or, more realistically, greatest political pull had the closest seats. Others, such as Isar, were a bit more distant. The result? Well, nobody was immediately bugging Isar about needing to hurry over to suckle at the power teet.

As one of the more influential members loudly called for another bottle of Tomiray, Isar exhaled heavily and cast his oceanic gaze out towards the majestic waterfalls. He wondered if he would ever get used to this part of his life. Immediately, his mind took him on a journey through his recent past. The first time he met his genetic donors whom he casually introduced as his parents. His trip to Alderaan as a representative of his family holdings on Naboo. Then finally...his first trip to Naboo and the company he met there. Company that had been on his mind at random intervals since that fateful day.

And then... A tap on his shoulder.

Turning his head, ice-blue eyes widened slightly. "Mira?" Not really concerned about who might be looking, Isar immediately seized the woman's body into a firm hug. Countless emotions immediately swept through Isar's body, some of the more...carnal emotions threatening to reveal themselves before he released the woman and took half a step back. "Wait..." Isar glanced around the area for a moment, most of the nobility were casually making their way to their seats. His gaze eventually turned back to Mira, noting the bottle in her hand. Gradually, a mischievous smirk adorned his features. "So...are you here for the Festival, or could you just not get enough of the Lake Country during your last visit." Isar offered her a playful wink, content to ignore the entirety of the Festival in that precise moment.

Zai was about to try something really reckless, one of the more stupid decisons he'd ever made, if that was possible. He was going to sneak into the Festival of Glad Arrival.

He grinned at his reflection. Instead of the usual innocent, baby-faced engineer; a handsome, rakish noble stared haughtily back. He'd somehow managed to kick his spending habit for a couple of months and had bought the neccesary clothing from an expensive tailor. He straightened his waistcoat and place his top-hat upon his messy hair. His final addition was a long silver cane that he tucked under his arm. He took a final look into the mirror:

e4bcbef900fb3b8771eec5d48b24c990.jpg

Did nobles really dress like this? He supposed he would find out. He glanced around the modest room of the hostel. He had snuck into the room from the window to change. He debated leaving the same way, but then he would wrinkle the suit. Strolling out the door, he left the establishment, stopping only to scold a maid for leaving the room so untidy.

He performed a few similar actions along the street, trying to get a feel for the character. He scoffed at young kids running past, he'd snatched a nearby rose to present to a noble lady and walked with his chin held up high. He was the very definition of insufferable, which was perfect. He was ready to enter the Festival.

He had circled the grounds several times already and chose the least manned entrance to try and slip in. He approached the entrance with a confidant stride, wearing an expression of mild distaste. He approached the guards. "I'm Conrad Applewood, here's my ID" he flashed his salvager's permits, quick enough so the guards couldn't get a good look at it. "Now I have important business with the Queen, and I'm late, so please excuse me". He made sure to furrow his brow in annoyance as he elbowed his way past the bewildered guards.

The guards chased after him but he quickly lost them in the huge crowd. He was in, now he just had to relax and enjoy the festivities.
