Come February 28th 2016, the Academy Awards will take place and 'The Force Awakens' will be up for 5 awards:

Best Original Score (alongside Bridge of Spies, Carol, The Hateful Eight, Sicario)

Best Sound Mixing (alongside Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant, The Martian, Bridge Of Spies)

Best Sound Editing (alongside Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant, Sicario, The Martian)

Best Film Editing (alongside Mad Max: Fursy Road, The Revenant, Spotlight, The Big Short)

Best Visual Effects (alongside Mad Max: Fury Road, Ex-Machina, The Revenant, The Martian)

Any bets on what JJ and the team may win, and if they deserve it?

Sadly no nomination for Mark Hamill as Best Supporting Actor.

Can't see them winning anything. They may contend with the Score side but I just don't see it happening.

Best Visual Effects should go to Mad Max simply for the extensive amounts of practical effects.

Disney's reward is currently being 7th or 6th on highest grossing movies of all time . I don't suspect they care who wins from atop the mountain of money.

Edit sorry, that was last week. 3rd Highest.

As much as I enjoyed The Force Awakens, apart from the Score which the movie has a bit of potential to get, there's no way Mad Max won't win most of the awards especially when it comes to Visual and Sound Effects. The Revenant is pretty amazing too, buuuut...... it's probably going to be another victim of the DiCaprio curse.

As for the other movies on the list, I don't have much else to say, to be honest. I think I should go watch Bridge of Spies when I get the chance.

You mean I get to tell Halcyon they're wrong? Score. They'll get score.

I said I don't see it happening but that they could contend for it. Oh yay! I'm so wrong. It has nothing to do with me doubting Star Wars it has everything to do with how the Oscars work. Lol.

As someone else said this is probably the weakest score of the films. I barely noticed it when viewing the films that's how little it stood out. It is there but no where near as iconic as the other films.
