The time had come. It was with mild trepidation that Commander Maxim had held his fire, watching carefully as the fleets opposite the field of battle surged forward as he strafed across the gap. The smaller ships that made up the bulk of Chimera's battlegroup spread swiftly. If the enemy surged forward attempting to cleave the lines, they would find themselves engaged - however, that appeared to not be the case. Curiously Gerhard watched as the center column of the enemy force veered inward, turning towards the Alliance and Iron Empire's vessels. With limited anti-starfigther support Gerhard wondered how long the Star Destroyers would last. As the main bulk of the column shifted, Commander Maxim took note of the shield screen before him - that was going to be a problem.

Swiftly the corvettes and frigates of Battlegroup Chimera shot forwards, closing the gap between the two fleets. Now they had closed the line, providing their enemy with a unified front - to flank either force now would be difficult, as long as they could hold their ground. As his commands were issued to the Swift and Singer he opened another line to his patrol boats.

The commands were issued rapidly. Galactic conflict oft brought foes together, though perhaps not nearly for as many virtuous reasons as might be guessed. Gerhard was one rarely to pass on a good opportunity, to learn, to take action - this was a perfect opportunity to get scans of not just one, but several of their former foes while at the same time gathering information about the greater threat. From where he stood on the bridge he watched carefully as the Supreme Commander's fleet began to open up into the enemy. Soon his own batteries would open up, at least from a few of the ships in his battlegroup - as of yet he was content to let the others do the heavy hitting. Like a viper he would wait for the precise moment to strike, analyzing his enemy's movement and behavior. When he finally did strike, it would be with precision and unparalleled violence. As he received reports from the other vessels in his group, he opened a line directly to the commander's of the Swift and the Singer.

Almost with surgical precision the gun batteries aboard the FIV Bloodletter, FIV Swift, and the FIV Singer would open up, lasers firing directly for the shield vessel and other surrounding ships - it was the type of precision unrelentingly drilled into Gerhard's crews. In times of peace and prosperity it was a boon to the crews, but they all knew this is where it counted, in the heat of battle their resolve and skill was near unmatched.

[AD-8]

AD-8 was cautious, his ships were more effective at range and he didn't want to overextend and be forced to retreat away from the advancing forces. He watched the middle column, wondering whether it would attack the more numerous imperial forces or come at the iron alliance, looking to decimate them then turn and move onto the imperials. His questions were answered when the middle contingency forces made a precise hyperdrive jump right into the frontal line of the alliance.

"I need to get myself one of those hyperdrives," he whispered to himself.

The sudden change of the battlefield had overwhelmed him and it took him a minute to gather his bearing again.

" All ships advance then fire on the Flak Frigate identifying as Dimond Hydra 4, then launch all fighters on the Dimond Obliterator," he said targeting his capital fire on the battlecruisers escort frigate to leave the Battlecruiser vulnerable to fighter attacks.

He watched as a stream of fighters came out of the hangers of his ships, wondering how many of them would come back in one piece. They headed without hesitation into the fray, exploiting the weakness that his capital ships had created. He looked as allied ships burst into flames and light, unable to survive the wrath of the contingency. He wondered whether some of his fellow metal lords would turn on the organics, his mind wandered to images of Mord Mettaluim ordering his troops to turn on those who thought they were allied with him. It wasn't a nice thought. He drew his thoughts back to the battle and hoped the fighters would be ok.

As you likely would have all seen, I have had to close this thread down due to timing issues.

However, despite not finishing I will post a final scoreboard so each factions knows how they went.

Also, some notes from the last round.

Individual Notes:

For bombing/strafing, how this works to stop everyone just throwing unlimited bombers at something, only the size of the ship (corvette being 1, flagship 6) + 1 number of squadrons can bomb at once. The rest just serve as replacements and cover.

[member="Fiolette Yvarro"] – Your Hellstorm ship inflicted some shield damage on an Annihilator. Massed firepower managed to destroy a Centaur corvette. Your long range fire dropped some more shields but did not penetrate.

[member="Cathul Thuku"] – Your fire destroyed an Annihilator cruiser and damaged the other. The interdictor did some damage to the Chimera’s shields. The rest of the escorts fire on Chimera 3 succeeded in removing its shields and doing light hull damage. The fire on Chimera 4 dropped much of its shields.
For the bombing run, 10 bomber squadrons make the run, 2 are suppressed by flak (1 suggested destroyed) and 6 make the run for some decent damage. Your fighters and bombers will be open to a counter attack via dogfight.

[member="Asharad Graush"] – Your fire destroyed the Mantle. You also destroyed Centaur 3 with a hail of Escort fire. Centaur 1 was badly damaged but not quite destroyed. Your fire knocked the shields off Hydra 1 and did some damage.

[member="Zark"] – Your massed capital fire overcame Devastator 1’s shield and did some hull damage. Your escorts fire on Devastator 2 did miniscule shield damage. Your bombing run, despite being limited to 2 squadrons at a time were able to destroy the Centaur. No full squadrons of yours are suggested to be lost.

[member="Cyrus Tregessar"] – Your fire took down ¾ of the shields on one Sovereign, about 1/3 on the other.

[member="Alexandra Morrow"] – Your fire on the Obliterator took down about 30% of its shields. The Cygnar proved completely ineffective at such a large and powerful ship. Your LSDs took down the shields on Hydra 4 and did some hull damage. Your fire on the Annihilators took down 1/3 of their shields each.
Your attack run of 3 squadrons of fighters ran into 4 Chimeras, 2 Annihilators and a Hydra worth of flak. This combined flak is deemed to have nullified the run. Suggested that 1-2 squadrons be destroyed.

[member="Zahori Denko"] – Your fire depleted much of Devastator 1’s shields. The Viceroy’s Hammer I let fire (though I usually don’t you had a story reason) and it took down almost all the rest of the shield on Annihilator 1. Your fire did damage to Chimera shields. Centaur 1 was already destroyed so this fire was wasted. Centaur 2, and 4 took varied damage and 3, already damaged, was destroyed.

[member="Carlyle Rausgeber"] – Your battlecruiser took down about 1/3 the shields of the Obliterator. The rest of your ships firing on it were completely ineffective. Your fire damaged the shields of the Leviathans about 66% each. Your fire on the Centaur was mostly ineffective but did take down the rest of its shield.

[member="Morro"] – Your fire destroyed Hydra 1 and depleted the shield of Hydra 2. Your fire on the Sovereigns was of limited use.

[member="Lily Kuhn"] – Your fire on Annihilator 1 was mixed. The carrier was completely ineffective due to poor weaponry and agility. The Destroyer did much better, stripping most of the shields. Your attacks on Annihilator 2 stripped it of all shields and did some light hull damage. Your fire on the hydra and Chimeras inflicted some shield damage.
Your attack run on Annihilator 2 went ahead and inflicted severe hull damage. Flak from the cruiser, frigates and the Hydra suppressed the fighters and some of the bombers. It is suggested 2 squadrons of bombers and 1 of fighters be lost to flak. Your attack run on Chimera 1 inflicted some moderate hull damage, 1 squadron of fighters suggested to be lost to flak. Your attack on Chimera 1 inflicted some hull damage, but 1 squadron of fighters is suggested to be lost.

[member="Gerhard Maxim"] – Diamond Mantle had already been destroyed by the time it was your firing, so those shots were wasted.

[member="Isamu Baelor"] – Your fire on the Centaurs was ineffective due to the low firepower and their small size. Your fire on the Harbinger managed to chip away about 2/3s of it shield.

[member="AD-8"] – Your fire destroyed the Hydra frigate you targeted. Your attack run was largely ineffective, with only some light hull damage. None of your squadrons should be lost to flak.

[member="Tanomas Graf"] – Your fire depleted more of the shields on the Obliterator but did not pierce them yet.
