The Gathering [Invite Only, PM if Missed]

The Arkanian turned as the Jedi Master addressed her. Elizie found herself speechless. The only response to the Jedi Master’s kind words was another bow and a smile, and most importantly, their gazes locked for a second as if the two communicated by just looking at each other, milky white eyes meeting the Jedi Master’s purple orbs. It said nothing, yet so much more than words ever could. What they told each other through that brief glance would forever remain a secret, just between the two of them. Perhaps the Arkanian Padawan and the Sword of the Jedi did not know what they said to each other either. When the violet-eyed woman responded to others, the Arkanian took the heavy coat and handed it over to the droid, letting the machine’s mechanic hand grab the coat and carry it into the ship where the droid placed the coat among the belongings of others.

As she was about to board the ship, walking up the ramp with her boots clicking on the metal, the tan woman heard another voice, several words meant for her. It was not a voice of a man or a woman though; the voice belonged to a boy, a youngling. Spinning on her heels, she looked down at the small child, offering him an encouraging smile. It was not often that she met someone so young, but age mattered little in the Jedi Order. For all she knew, the kid could have been a Knight or a Master… actually, no, Elizie did not know any Master that looked like the boy. While she had yet to meet all Jedi Masters, the white-haired girl was certain none was this young, his young age given away by the Epicanthix’ height. Luckily, the youngling’s words revealed his rank and allowed the noble to address him properly.

“Hello, Padawan Yamauchi,” she replied, “It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Padawan Adasca.” A brief glance over the gathering revealed many Jedi of all sorts of races. Elizie studied every being present and remembered the days she used to judge people solely by their race and blood. The warm smile vanished from her face at the thought. Luckily, those days were long gone after she finally opened her eyes and embraced the Jedi teachings, shredding the arrogant noble she used to be and replacing greed with humility and humbleness. Not once she regretted the decision that changed her for the better.

More Jedi poured into the hanger and Elizie finally realized the magnitude and importance of this journey. The youngest members would obtain their first lightsaber crystal, which was a moment marking their growth as Jedi. Not only that; they would be forced to face their fears in the cold caves of Ilum. This made Elizie wonder about those who had already visited the planet and successfully overcame their trials prepared among the walls of ice. Would she have a different vision or no vision at all? Mentally shrugging, the tan Padawan boarded the shuttle, walking through the aisle separating two rows of seats before she seated herself, brushing away the cascade of white hair that fell into her face upon the sudden motion.

Gherron was surprised at the sheer number of Jedi crowding the area already. This was not like the time he went for his own crystal. Not at all. In fact, it had been just him and his master. Trying to mingle in, he listened to te conversations everyone was having, seeing if there was a place he could fit into. Though he was quite social, it was unsettling that he hardly knew anyone there, save for Rael. Before he could make any decision though, they had started boarding. Finally, it seemed as if all of them had arrived. Walking into the shuttle, he sat next to [member="Elizie Adasca"] and offered a warm smile. "Nice to meet you. First time going to Ilum?"

Jack turned his attention to the newcomer, who made it apparent that at least one jedi could play Sabacc. "Find a Corellian who doesn't" Jack gave a hearty laugh to the man as he continued fiddling with the deck. He laughed even harder when she pulled the Idiot from his deck, that was always Jack's favourite card and he was honestly surprised to see that she managed to grab it in one try. Must've been the Force, that or she was also Corellian. "You trying to send me a message." Jack send this jokingly, though he was sure that some people must have thought that about him.

Jack caught the card between two of his fingers and slid it back into his deck in one swift movement. Jack then greeted all of the newcomers that came, this flight would be distracting. It was weird to Jack how absolutely none of the Jedi were unattractive and it left him about dumbfounded. It wasn't just their looks either, they gave off a soothing aura around them that eased Jack's nerves.

Jack then turned back to the two people he had been conversing with. "I'll admit this is my first time with more than one Jedi, nonetheless I hope I get to meet a ton of you." Jack gave a mischievous and joking wink to both of the people that he had been talking to, who knows maybe something nice would come out of this adventure. "I'm heading to the cockpit, if anyone wants to talk to me, play Sabacc or just keep old Jack company I wouldn't mind." and with that Jack gave a salute and made his way to the bridge, who knows maybe he had a nice looking co-pilot. Probably not.

"Thanks for the help, Master Rekali." Ayden chirped colorlessly. He readjusted his backpack, and with pride still intact, marched up the metallic ramp. Taking a spot off in the corner, he tucked his backpack beneath him, in between the bottom of his seat and the floor below it.

At the moment Ayden cared little for social commentary, which was unfortunate, given the bright new faces he had the opportunity to make the acquaintances of. The vision he had was persistently nagging at him, tugging him further and further from reality each time he gave into its throes. Had he considered it, he would have thought some of the students to think he was anti-social, due to hubris or superciliousness most likely, but this was not the case. Ayden was eager to make friends. He was just trapped in a head game, one that held a vital importance he couldn't put his finger on.

The crystal is the heart of the blade.

Ayden stared off into nothingness, a dull light in his pale blue eyes. He tenaciously tried to recreate the vision in his mind's eye, but to no avail. His mind was preoccupied with thoughts of what the vision meant, of what he would have to do and struggle with, but the phantasm was nowhere to be found. His nervous excitement suddenly descended into troublesome agitation and morose anxiety. Rumors among students, and even among knights and masters, was that 'The Gathering' held in store for all those who participated a personal struggle, a conflict between fears and failings. He wondered if he was ready, and each time he did, thoughts of the vision only served to plague his mind further.

His poor, weak mind.

No design which came to Nefertari seemed right. She came out of meditation "Don't worry, the Force will guide you" was what she told herself. Nef got up and decided to take a look into the cockpit, she'd always loved to fly.
Stepping in she saw [member="Jack Rand"]
"Pardon me if I'm intruding. I just wanted to have a look at the setup."

Back inside the Temple, Sam suited up in her Hollinium Katan and grabbed her duffels for the frozen journey. Placing her helm under her arm, she smiled and winked to the mirror. It was time to head down to the shuttle. Even better still. This was party time.

___

Her boots made a heavy click-clak as she ascended the loading ramp and took her seat nearer the back of the shuttle. Her bag could remain with the other cargo for the duration of the journey. She wouldn't need it until they were planetside anyway.

Alas, Knightess Jhovna was not normally a social person. Not since Teta anyway. So she kept mostly to herself these days. She'd forgo the introductions and speeches in favor of their hostess, Master Rekali. Sam was all business today and that meant being seen and not heard. Besides, this event was mostly for those building their first lightsabers. She could sip tea and talk shop later.

Sam took her seat and rested her helm in the palm of her lap. Ahh. This was going to be fun.

Ilum. A test. To gain a lightsaber crystal. But also to become a true Jedi Padawan. All that thought made Veega extremely excited. Every little adventure, every journey made her feel happy, they made her understand the good things about actually being a Jedi. One of these good things was this trip to the cold planet, the destination being the cave on Ilum. The cave where she could be trapped for days before she could get out.

Even the thought of that made the girl shiver, yet at the same time, feel extremely joyful.

She took a seat in the ship, didn't greet anybody. The day had been tiring and she did't want to talk to anybody at that moment. She would only focus on regaining her energy to successfully get her saber in the caves. She had put heavy clothes on hours ago, only because she didn't feel like changing them later. She only wanted to sleep, and that's what she thought she would use the travel in hyperspace for.

The voice and presence of another prompted Elizie to turn her head and look at the blonde man who sat next to her, his steel grey eyes meeting the milky white ones of the Arkanian. A fairly young Jedi judging by his features, either a Padawan or a Knight, with his Force signature displaying enough power to brand him as the latter. The tan Padawan flashed her white teeth as she returned the smile. “It is my second time, actually,” she said softly, “Though from what I heard, each visit is unique, yes?” The icy caves were supposed to test those seeking to obtain a crystal for their lightsaber, and it would not be much of a test if the trials repeated. She started to lean towards the possibility of receiving a completely different vision than the last time when she saw herself as a tyrant corrupted by the Dark Side. Whatever the Force prepared for her, Elizie knew the Jedi Code and tenets to be the answer to overcome all trials inside the cold tunnels of Ilum. As long as she stayed true to the Jedi teachings, she had nothing to fear.

“I am Padawan Adasca,” she introduced herself, giving the Jedi next to her a nod, “It is a pleasure to meet you.” The teenager’s smile grew wider. “And what about you? Is this your first time going to Ilum?”

Jack was doing a couple final checks in the cockpit of the shuttle to make sure that nothing would go wrong for them on the journey, it wouldn't look good for Jack if he was responsible for a dozen Jedi deaths. He was marking down certain things in his datapad to make sure that he wouldn't forget anything. Suddenly a woman came into the room and Jack put his things down. When she told him her business here Jack smiled. "Don't worry about it, the cockpit is free reign until we hit any atmospheric barriers. So what do you think of it, you Jedi always get the nicest ships." It was the truth, the Jedi ships always carried a certain grace to them, but hey certainly weren't as practical as any Corellian made ship.

Gherron smiled, glad to make a new friend among the Jedi. Shaking his head at her question, he chuckled softly. "No, actually. Second time as well. I'm taking my padawan with me, thought he could use the experience." With that, he gestured at the kaleesh, hiding a small smile. Rael was quite the clumsy one, but Gherron knew he had the capacity to become a great Jedi. He was an excellent learner, something the two shared. He imagined them to be a great team one day.

Aaralyn nodded softly to [member="Sabena Shai"]. “I am, but it’s a slow work in progress.” She chuckled softly as she walked up the ramp of the shuttle. The students were present, the manifest had checked off all but Jedi Master [member="Sophia Walsh"] – perhaps she was going to meet them at Ilum. Aaralyn motioned to a seat for Sabena. “I’m going to go let the good Captain know we’re ready to go and get on our way. Padawan Shai, I look forward to speaking with you on our journey.”

She inclined her head slightly in bow before moving to the cockpit of the shuttle, there she would find [member="Jack Rand"]. “Captain, we’re ready to get underway. Take us to the Endeavor if you would be so kind.”

The thought of not going with the group dug at her as Captain Walsh still wanted to take her ship. She thought about it so much that it made her almost miss takeoff. In the end the reason that she chose to go with the group was that she was supposed to be making friends. Going alone was no way to start making friends.

Plopped down next to the array of other Jedi she buckled herself in just in time. As a Master this didn't look so good but she would make it up to them and at least she was here. "Hello," she smiled. This was going to be interesting.

Rael walked into the shuttle, quietly taking a seat. He looked around the shuttle, at all the other Jedi. The kaleesh, trying to calm his excitement over going to Ilum. He relaxed in his seat, leaning his head back, and closing his eyes. Gently, he used some of the meditation [member="Gherron Vael"] had been teaching him since his time with the Jedi. Slowly, the padawan opened his eyes, feeling much more calm. He once more looked around the shuttle, taking in everything he saw.

Jack nodded to the Jedi master and politely excused himself from the conversation with the Jedi Knight. "Pardon me miss, I'd love to continue talking, but I have to ask all knights and padawans to take their seats." Jack waveto her and then spun his seat around to turn on the speakers to give all the Jedi their final warning to board the shuttle. "Attention all Jedi, we will now leave for the Endeavor. During this time access to the cockpit will be limited to masters only." Jack spun his chair around to face master Aaralyn Rekali with a proud smile. "Alrighty then, lets go shall we." Jack enjoyed playful banter whenever he could get it.

(post boarding and other stuff if you want)

After everyone had boarded the ship, Jack nodded at the Jedi master with acknowledgement and gripped the lift off controls as the ship careened skywards. He then put the ship at full thrust forward with a bit of a jolt, but hey when you hire a Corellian as your pilot that should be expected.

Jack gave an involuntary laugh as they broke the atmosphere. He then turned to Master Rekali with slight embarrassment. "Apologies master, sometimes I get a bit excited when flying." Even after that moment Jack was still smiling like an idiot from the sheer thrill of flying, the rush that Jack always felt.

Eventually the ship made contact with the Endeavor, Jack began the docking. Docking was a bit of a problem Jack had with docking, but he did well enough. When the ship connected with the Endeavor, Jack grabbed the speaker to make the announcement. "All right everybody, we are docked with the Endeavor make yourself comfortable we won't be here for long."

Jack put the speaker down and turned to the Jedi beside him. "Well then master would you like to escort a poor Corellian to the pilot's seat." Jack gave her a big smile as he spun his seat around and got up.

Sam enjoyed the ride. Bumpy as it was, she had remembered to bring a Pad with her reading library on it. That way she could keep up with her favorite books whilst traveling. Nice. So she turned on the back-light and placed her helm underneath her seat. It was time to finish that next chapter.

___

She went straight to the kitchen and ordered a capital ship sized snack. Mmm. Food for thought. Hehe. So, grabbing a table alone, Sam plopped down her exotically armored helm and began munching away. Her Pad gave her all the travel info she could possible need for the time ahead. Rooms, seating, flight times, and destination. She was all set and ready for adventure. Ah. And there was no better place to be than in the dining area. Surrounded by uniforms and species of all Republic kinds. She almost felt like a real Navy girl again.

Smiling in silence, she pulled out her favorite book again and began reading. Snacking all the way. A perfectly invisible princess. Ilum here we come. Ooo, and maybe some pizza along the way too!

Yum.

"Well, I'll see you around I guess. Good luck flying this thing."
Nefertari left the cockpit and sat back down right before the shuttle blasted out of the hangar. She had been to Hoth twice before, surely she would be at least partially acclimated to the cold. Taking one last look over her gear, she felt slightly under armed without her trusty lightsaber. All she had was a datadagger, her blaster, and the hilt to be in pieces.

Nef was reminded of her padawan days. Her master's words before she went to fetch her first crystal came to her.
"Neffy, yousa able to become berry bombad jedi. Remember, take Force for yous guide. Mesa know yousa can overcome dark side."
Master Bari had been very kind to Nefertari, and had taught her most if not all he knew.

No matter what, this would be an experience for Nefertari's good.

Aaralyn chuckled softly and motioned for [member="Jack Rand"] to follow her. "By all means, Captain."

The walk off the shuttle and around the Corvette Endevour itself was uneventful, beyond the various hustle and bustle as the ship began it's journey towards Ilum. The sound of the working components of the vessel as it moved through realspace and the whirling of the engines and even hyperdrive as it was being prepped for the jump to hyperspace. They would make it to the bridge in short order and in turn Aaralyn would motion to the Captain's chair and then gesture to the pilot. "I leave you in command, get us there safely...Captain." She bowed softly and made her way from the bridge.

OOC - From this point, we'll actually take until 6 P.M today before Day One Starts/Arrival on Ilum. I'll note it on the OOC thread. Sorry for running behind. Post interactions and such.

A voice perked up, "How's it going?" A young Kosuke fell into the seat beside Rael with an exasperated sigh, "I'm Padawan Yamauchi." He gave a quick look around, strapped himself in and then brought his legs up and folded them underneath him. His feet were bare of any shoes or sandals, and reeked. The soles of his feet themselves looked fairly hardy, and were leathered from years of no use of shoes. He brought his palms together to form what some called the 'medium prayer'. "I'm rather excited to be on this trip, though I dare say my work is cut out for me, I don't have to find a crystal - but I have to meditate for longer."

[member="Kosuke Yamauchi"]

Real looked at the young boy as he sat down. "Everything is fine. Palawan B'an. Just call me Rael, though. The formality of all this kind of bothers me." He shrugged, as if to say, what can I do? The Kaleesh looked at the boy, tilting his head. He hoped the bone mask and yellow eyes didn't scare him too much. You're pathetic, he thought, worrying you're going to hurt some huk's feelings! The padawan pushed those thoughts down. He couldn't allow himself to be a warrior anymore, he had to be a Jedi. "What do you mean, you don't need to find a crystal?"

Once the shuttle had docked with the Endevour, Gherron left [member="Elizie Adasca"] 's company and decided to walk around the expanse of the ship. H tried to remember the last time he'd been on a ship to this scale with so many others. Oh yes, on the way to Korriban... He Rubbed his temples softly as he relived some of the moments on the Sith planet. Not fun. Poking around, he eventually found the mess hall, where he ordered a drink. Turning around to find a place to lounge about, he stopped himself when he saw a rather familiar figure in the corner, nose buried in a book. Trying to get a better look, he eventually smiled to himself. Gherron soon found himself walking toward the young woman, where he sat across from her. "Long time, no see, Miss Jhovna."
