The Gathering

I started walking of the ship to the east in a slow relaxed pace. If I had placed a bet on how fast something bad would happen then I would say it will happen in the next hour or two. I kept that thought to myself as I kept moving forward past the prairies of tall grass and blue sky. We got here just after the last cycle so it was pretty early in the morning. The planet look beautiful at this time of day but something was wrong. I could feel the darkside of the force on this planet swelling; it must have been from the cult that Master Shmi spoke of back at the ship. I kept walking but I stayed on guard at all times.

"Fear places you on the path to the dark side. It can lead you anger, which leads to hate, and in the end leads to suffering. Don't inhibit yourself by allowing your painful experiences to rule and halt your progress towards something great. These are dark times Kitani...and you can be that beacon of light, we need you, but you must try." her statement started with her naturally soothing and calming voice, but in the end she became stern.

She knew the potential this young girl had, and wouldn't be realized if she kept herself from her own destiny. That was one thing Shmi wouldn't allow her to do.

"Place your trust in me, its my job to help you grow. I won't let you come to harm. Today, you take a serious step in your Jedi career. Your crystal will be valuable to you, and when you discover it you will discover yourself. In that moment, you mustn't hold back..you cannot be afraid. Your crystal is going to call to you...and its your job for you to hear it, and commune."

Given the emotional backlash that Kitani was allowing to affect her abilities, Shmi almost wondered if she were innately an empath, or at least had enough natural skill to learn the ability. She however turned her attentions back to Caleb, "This planet is slowly shifting, you can sense it can't you? Be aware, the fauna may be slowly affected from this presence. Kath hounds...a natural predator here."

Kitani manage to keep up with the group as she listened in to what her master had to say. Despite the stern talking, she felt as if she needed to hear that even though this was something that should have been drilled in her head. She nods softly attempting to ignore the past for the moment and simply focus on the task at hand. Today was a very important day and she could not let fear inhibit her commune with the force today. She was of course holding back information on her Master and who knows if she could sense it, and it definitely was intertwine with the fate of others. Who knows if those past experience triggered something in Kitani.

The mentioning of impending danger would not surprise Kitani, Jedi were needed were the taint of the dark side or impending danger resonated. She forgot the moment about her troubles and focused on her surroundings, If they were in any actual danger she would also need to warn them if she of course spotted something.

" Should we steer clear of the deep grass, Master ? ".

As we continued towards the source of force energy I listened to Master Laboodas statement but payed little attention to it. I had heard the lecture on the darkside more times than I could count and this time would be no different. I continued walking when I heard Kitani ask if we should steer clear of deep grass. With a cocky expression I turned and backpedaled then said "Relax Katani...Kath Hounds aren't that vicious besides I think three Jedi can take down some stray dogs". I stopped walking for moment then my senses began to flare. The force around me began to alter for a quick second then returned to normal. I then turn towards my master and said "Did you feel that too".

Before she could answer Kitani, her face shifted and she looked towards Caleb when she felt his disposition completely change before he could even alert them. Her eyes squinted, there was surely a fluctuation in the air that travelled through her body. The other's were bound to feel as well, Caleb being evident of that. She took a few steps forward, enough to place her next to her apprentice.

Just ahead in the tall grass, drew her attention. However she wasn't feeling any other presences but that of those who were in her party. She signaled for them to remain behind. She proceeded alone, in seconds she split the grass in the middle and parted it with her arm revealing a small open space. What else she found...was the body of a dead kath hound; mutilated.

"There are more creatures here that mustn't be forgotten. This scene wasn't a result of other kath hounds..." she said, splitting the grass further to show them.

She looked up, and scanned the area...."This worries me..."

A few days have passed since she brought Kitani and Caleb here for their crystals. However she found herself wanting to come back. After they witnessed the mutilated body of a Kath hound she became concerned for state of the wild wanting to do some more investigating. Then there were rumors of a cult forming up here and experimenting with the environment, but she couldn't find any further traces...it was as if they disappeared.

Nevertheless, it wasn't completely pointless that she returned. She was searching for a crystal as well. She walked through the crevices of the cave far out into the plains. And just like before this place radiated with a taint. Much like how she discovered her previous crystal she allowed the force to guide her movements.

When she arrived with her Padawans, they didn't venture as far as she had this time. The darkness grew as the light of the entrance became faint. There was a soft pitter patter of water dropping off in the distance and the sound of dirt grounding up under her boots echoed throughout the cavernous pit. She slowly crept...her movements slow and her left hand caressing the jagged wall.

"We need you Shmi...guide us guide us..." voices faintly began to fill her head, unlike what she had expected. "Corvus has gone...your the only one."

She didn't understand...Corvus was alive and well. What were these voices referring to...She squinted her eyes, with very faint glows came into her line of vision. She approached..."You have to...they want you too...don't give up on them."

She learned a long time ago to listen to the Force and heed its message...she just didn't know how. But she would find out soon enough.

Shmi kneeled down, looking at the faint green and yellow glow of two dantari crystals. The Force radiated off of them as much as she felt when Caleb and Kitani recieved theirs. She attempted to remove them, all the while remembering the voice that filled her head just before discovering the crystals.

They spoke of a near future...
