The Great Jedi Convocation: Sigma Station (Open to All Jedi - Republic, Silvers, Levantines, etc.)

Phylis had stayed silent whilst Siobhan and the others discussed matters. To her mind Siobhan was far too warlike. The Jedi had enough trouble containing the resurgent Sith to get involved much with the Confederates.
There was, of course, another reason why she'd stayed silent. Seeing Siobhan again was...awkward. After the other woman had tried to seduce her, not to the Dark Side, but to her bed. She was slightly confused about the encounter though. Two versions kept popping up for consideration of her memory though. She wanted to just forget it all.
Finally though she had to speak.

"Thank you for your...insight...Countess Kerrigan," Phylis said coldly. " I grant the point that they are not trustworthy - but that's something we've always known. In politics there are no eternal friends, just eternal interests. Still, we must be careful not to get ourselves involved and overstretch our resources."
She'd been so focussed she'd gone through that whole thing without a trademark 'hmm' or 'hmmph'.

Siobhan was very warlike and a blood knight, but then this Galaxy had been a far cry from shiny and happy. If you wanted peace, prepare for war. As a matter of fact she had not asked the Jedi to become involved. If she had still been Exarch there would be no lull in fighting right now that gave the Confederacy a reprieve. She was of the belief that if it mobilised appropriately the Protectorate could trash the Confederates alone if needed. Moross and the Black Suns might help, but then she obviously had no insight in that direction and could only speculate. Truth be told the Confederate forces did not impress her after Druckenwell. In any event the One Sith held sway in a good chunk of the core and seemed better led and better organised.

Their last meeting had been...awkward to say the least. I recall that not so long ago your Jedi Order was friends with the Sith while branding your only real ally as an enemy. Then two Sith made your capital their personal playground. Did you have any words of wisdom to offer then or were you too busy looking over old ruins? Your archives' holocrons have been proliferated far and wide, she thought coldly and rather bitchily, though she did not say it.

If the reader were to get the impression that Siobhan was rather arrogant and in her thoughts liked to harp about things that were old news they would probably be correct. She was the sort of person to hold on to grudges. As for Phylis' cold tone, that left her indifferent. Siobhan had stood at the side of someone who had once been one of the most powerful women in the Galaxy. She had conquered most of the Protectorate's territory and helped rule it for a while. So she knew all about war and imperial overstretch - from first-hand experience! She doubted Phylis was actually fighting in the war.

"I did not say the Jedi should invade and start a two-front war while their capital's in the enemy's hands, Master Alince. I'm well aware of the limits your resources must have. I used to run most of the Protectorate's army after all. Especially given the recent series of Jedi who were revealed as Sith traitors or defected. Questions were asked about the Confederacy and what happened on Druckenwell, I was there. I'm not here on a plea for Jedi aid or to argue about what your mission is," she said firmly.

Jedi debates about what their purpose was were as tedious as the Council of Nicea. Insert smug historical reference!

If only [member="Ember Rekali"] would know just what kind of scab those words would peel back. Granted, there was more than met the eye. Always more than met the eye. Everyone had a role to play. A perception to upkeep. A reputation to regulate.

Ain't no other way one could survive in this galaxy now a days. Truth and lies. Walking the path she did meant she rode a fine line of it all.

But that was a story for another day. A curt nod and tight smile would follow after the Keetael Huntsman.

"Rekali." she'd say in turn, all at once a parting farewell as much as a wish for safe flying. Her helm would soon find itself back on, and her voice once again, modulated with a metallic tinge.

"Ret'urcye mhi"

With all this division of territories, there would be an element of organization. But what everyone, who’d ever been involved of any chain-of-command system knew, was that there needed to be communication.

Constant, thorough, and transparent communication.

“Okay.” Kiskla nodded, mostly to herself to get her gears going and into action. “With these assignments of duties, it’s apparent we can now reach agreements.

In the end, we’re all Jedi working for the same thing — and I’d like to see this kind of cohesion more often. What say we implement a sort of permanency to this collective council? Representatives in collaboration from each organization; with no hierarchy. Our resources are invaluable and unparalleled when pooled.”

"And pretty unimpressive when they're all divided," Jorus agreed, with a grimace. He leaned back in his chair and tried not to think of the toolbox under the large round table. "If there's those among us that can connect, that have no problem listenin' to all the other groups, maybe even changin' our minds when it's necessary, at least over small things, then yeah, long-term cooperation would prolly be feasible. Rotating venue, maybe, or mobile -- no single spot to be a target or to get forgotten or ignored."

"Then the Protectorate can look after it's own." Aeron would finally speak amidst the titans that surrounded her. In her hand she would twirl what would appear to be a small stylus in her hand, flipping it over and over like a tick she needed to think.

"There is no need for the Jedi Order, The Silver Jedi, nor those of the Sanctum to patrol our sectors." it was no offense meant, just straightforward talk. Neither one of the orders had any means to spread themselves thin, and the Protectorate already housed not only the Corellian Jedi, but also several other fringe Force Organizations that called Omega Protectorate home. The Jensaarai, an off shoot of the Zeison Sha, the Shapers of Kro Var. They even also had a new Jedi Covenant, although Aeron had yet to see them really do much beyond stay stationed at Bespin.

"Everyone is spread thin as it is and when -- not if-- this war with the One Sith escalates into a Galactic battleground, there won't be time nor resources available for any of the other Orders to consider wardening Protectorate territory."

Siobhan briefly glanced over to [member="Aeron Kreelan"], who from what she had heard was Prex of Omega Pyre. In a sense she could perhaps be considered her successor at the head of the military organisation. Of course, she had her own thoughts about the Protectorate, though this might partly be the result of the fact that former leaders always found that is or that thing should be different after they were out of office. Whether this was valid was another question.

However, she agreed with the notion of self-reliance. It was not that she did not trust the Jedi and the Republic. Well, actually that was the case. Especially in the light of the recent series of defections. Besides, Jedi meddled and she was fiercely protective of Kaeshana. Beyond that it was simply logistical practicality. "Kaeshana will protect itself. It has the Angelii and those I've trained." Also a primeval Eldorai supersoldier, but that was sort of secret, much as she would like to brag to [member="Phylis Alince"] about having made such a big discovery without her!

"No offence, but Firemane's one of the very few foreign groups the Eldorai trust not to unduly interfere. In line with self-strengthening, we'll look to ourselves first, then the Protectorate for larger threats beyond our scale to handle. Conservation of resources. I'm willing to work with Jedi against Sith. Likewise with the Mandalorians. Firemane's number is in the phone book."
