Evil is a word used by the ignorant and the weak
Sutta Chwituskak

Also known as: Bolt of Hatred, Infinite hatred
Notable practitioners: Queen Amanoa, Freedon Nadd, King Ommin, Thannor Keth, Novar

Sutta Chwituskak (literally ‘Flung Spears’ in Sith) was the proper name of the Bolt of Hatred, an ancient Sith technique conjured through magic. The Force user would create a radiant sphere of pure hatred which they could hurl at any target in their direct line of sight.

The Touch of the Kiin'Dray

This was a Nightsisters application of the Force that allowed the user to apply a binding force to their hands and feet to scramble up a cliff face or to hold a weapon in a grip that was unbreakable.

Tsaiwinokka Hoyakut

Also known as: Reanimated Dead

Tsaiwinokka Hoyakut was a spell that could be used to create undead. This complex spell could awaken the freshly-dead and skeletons, transforming them into an unstoppable legion impervious to pain and capable of transmitting a necromantic infection through biting.

The Water of Life

“Bring the Water of Life.”
―Mother Talzin

The Water of Life was an employment of spirit ichor that was used by the Nightsisters of Dathomir in their spells. It was used primarily for healing purposes but could also be used to render someone near-invisible.

This was the first Nightsisters magick I learned and also my introduction to the notion of ichors, that were common to Nightsister magic – or magick as they referred to it.

The Water of Life was a liquid used by the Nightsisters of Dathomir to heal. Its ingredients included water, and flesh extracted from a creature known as the Sleeper. Brewing the concoction was considered a rite of passage for a Nightsister.

Waves of Darkness

Also known as: Dark side waves
Area: Control and Alter
Notable practitioners: Amanoa, Freedon Nadd, Novar

“Some kind of darkness…settling over the city!”
―Gobee, to Oron Kira

When performed by an individual adept in Sith sorcery, waves of darkness was a dark side Force power conjured through Sith magic that created palpable waves of darkness — often visibly literal in their obscurity and accompanied by roaring, thunderous sounds.

When exposed to waves of darkness, beings suffered from feelings of intense despair and confusion, before feeling compelled, if detained under the spell’s power long enough, to flee the scene of the disturbance.

“Computer, identify disturbance.”
“Wave force. Energy type unknown. Anomalous power surges detected.”
―Sensor tower computer, reporting its analysis of Amanoa’s darkness spell to Oron Kira

Using ancient Sith magic to summon waves of darkness required a sorcerer to call upon the full scope of negative emotions that lingered in the centre of their being. Fuelled by the power of the Force, conjurers spewed forth their emotions in tides of dark side energy that rapidly expanded in a spherical aura around them. Waves of darkness manifested in the physical realm as well; affected beings noticed that the atmosphere around them — whether within the confines of a building or outside in the skies above—became thick with negative energy or visibly immersed in darkness.

Thunder often boomed and was accompanied by a roaring sound as the darkness spread. Anyone caught in the vicinity might immediately begin to suffer from feelings of intense horror, pain, and bewilderment. Victims were tormented by whispers of the dark side that left them in a state of utter hopelessness, and prolonged exposure robbed them of the will to fight. Dark-side waves caused Jedi and other users of the light to feel stifled, as though their connection to the Force was being smothered.

“The battle is lost. Lost. Your strength is gone. Your will is gone. Your life is pain. Surrender.”
― The demoralizing whispers of Amanoa’s summoned darkness

Waves of darkness were employed in battle by Sith sorcerers as a means of incapacitating the opposition. However, the debilitating effects of a darkness spell could be nullified by a Force-user skilled in the art of Jedi Battle Meditation.
