- Description: In ancient times the Kissai were the holy priests and ministers of the Sith faith, passing on the tradition of their predecessors down through the centuries. While many of the modern Kissai still follow those ancient roots, the term Kissai has come to embody more than just Pureblood Sith. The Kissai of the Sith Empire are priests and sorcerers, ones who have rigidly studied the ancient writings and chronicles of the Sith Order from its inception down to the modern writings. Through them, the hallowed culture of the Sith endures, maintained with the utmost reverence and sanctity. Sith Alchemy and Magic are well-known among the Kissai, with many of them being highly talented alchemists and sorcerers. The greatest among them are referred to as Loremasters, also known as Ari'Kissai, who are upheld with ensuring that the Sith flame does not burn out in the galaxy.

- Combat Function: The Kissai Priests are the stewards of Sith doctrine and history, and are therefore not a major component of most military campaigns. When they are included in combat operations, they often use their powerful knowledge of dark magic to enthrall, confuse, and devastated the enemy ranks in supplementation of the Imperial Legion. When pressed into close quarters battle, they can use their lightsabers to defend themselves.
- Dark Side Priests: Highly knowledgable in the Dark Side of the Force, the Kissai are passionate sorcerers who can recall the vast collection of Sith magic that dwells within their sharpened minds.
- Keepers of Knowledge: Tasked with the stewardship of Sith history, ideology, and traditions, the Kissai are the most learned in the ways of the Sith and the Dark Side of the Force.
- Lightly Armored: Though they wear a light betaplast cuirass beneath their flowing robes for battle, the Kissai mainly wear fitting robes and other ecclesiastic finery.
- Dark Side Nerds: Most of the Kissai are entirely physically non-combative, they've dedicated the majority of their lives to studying and interpreting the mysteries and histories of the Sith and the Dark Side.
In the society of the ancient Sith, the Kissai were the highest caste of Sith. They were charged with upholding the ancient traditions of the Sith, safeguarding their collective knowledge, settling matters of faith, conducting elaborate rituals, and debating the mysteries of the Dark Side. Like the rest of Sith society, their numbers were virtually rendered extinct when the Republic launched a counter-invasion and ethnic cleansing of Korriban and other Sith worlds at the end of the Great Hyperspace War. Yet they endured in far-flung redoubts, such as Athiss and Tantorus. Over the years they continued their sacred charge, preserving the knowledge of their forebears even when the Sith species was considered all but extinct in the wider galaxy.
When the modern Sith rediscovered Athiss and Tantorus the Kissai returned to conventional society and were again put in charge of collecting and preserving the prized knowledge of the ancient Sith. The knowledge they had retained over the millennia was combined with those of the One Sith, leading to a massive resurgence in awareness of ancient rites and beliefs. To escape persecution by the Galactic Alliance at the fall of the One Sith, the Kissai fled into the Unknown Regions and Wild Space. There they rediscovered the lost Sith fortress of Exegol and scoured it for secrets at the behest of Kaine Zambrano.
They brought their newfound knowledge back to the Holy Sith Worlds, establishing themselves on Athiss and Ziost as a new Sith Empire rose up around them. No longer were their ranks restricted to just Pureblood Sith, as the most cognizant and knowledgable of Sith of both Human and Alien origin were inducted. They established new great libraries, vast reservoirs of collected knowledge that was instrumental in expanding Sith influence across the cosmos.
