The Living Force

The Living Force

Following the conclave of the Jedi Order, it was clear to Veiere that those upon Yutan required a means for direction and training, to remind and enlighten them as to the first priority of all Jedi in the Galaxy, the nature of the Force itself and learning to understand what that meant for them both as Jedi and Individuals. It had been a very long time since he had led an open class for others, not since Svivren had he sought to teach the students of the Order and it was bringing back a wealth of memories, all he could fondly look back upon. Today their group was a mix of experience, some having reached the rank of Jedi Knight while others were entirely new to the subject yet all would serve to share in the venture for learning and taking the time away from what had otherwise been a focus on the politics of the Jedi, to give credit and honor what connected them all.

The setting for this lesson would be a shelter cut into the side of the mountain overlooking the wilderness around them, the river that passed them by, the falls in the distant background and the numerous shades of greens that was presented with a vast undergrowth of the land, a place where nature had been allowed to flourish, where the Force could be felt vividly in the creation and wealth in the life of the planet itself. This was a place that Veiere would come to visit often since the re-establishment of the Jedi Temple, a place of meditation and peace; a place he wished to share with his fellow Jedi.

"Welcome to our little sanctuary" He chuckled softly, turning to look across the group, gesturing to the seats scattered about the flat of the permacrete floor, a mat covering the majority of the service to make for comfortable footing, the seating being small cushioned stools for which they could move about, Veiere having set them up in a circle so that they could all take up mutual ground and share their thoughts and theories on the Force there today. "I've chosen this spot for today's lesson because I felt it's important that we take the time to appreciate the true beauty our home here, an expression of the Force within nature itself for the natural cycle that spans the entire galaxy. Please, make yourselves comfortable and we will begin...".

The falls were impressive. Karren for the first time in a long time, felt calm. Following a wild mission to the Rim to track down a Dark Jedi Cult that threatened to upset the balance of things, she had her feet firmly planted back on Yutan. Except today she wore no Lightsaber, nor belt, nor boots, nor cloak.

Today her hair was down, and the only thing on her was her brown trousers and white and red striped tunic.

As the waters cascaded and the Master spoke she nodded, closing her eyes. She could sense everything a thousand times stronger than she ever had before here. The salty smell of the water, the misty flash of spray from the falls. The aroma of the fresh leafy forest around them.

She became lost, swimming in the currents. One foot in this world, and one in the next.

After the heated debate at the temple Asheda was glad to get away and out in nature, she had never really explored the outside world, past all the metal that made up the city she lived in, and getting a proper view of the planets forested areas and beauty was something she was amazed by. She had decided to attend the lesson as she was still fairly new to the whole Jedi businesses and had much to learn.

She looked around the area that was chosen to be the training ground, the natural force flowing around her, the sound of water in the background, it was soothing, she sat on the ground near [member="Karren Trask"] and master [member="Veiere Arenais"] eager for what lesson was going to be taught, "what did you have in mind for our lesson today master Arenais".

Rell looked around and took in the fresh scents of the open air. This reminded her of Naboo, just calmer, more open and more quiet, leaving only the sound of the birds, the breeze and the rush of the water. It was refreshing after being locked up in a palace for how many years. All Rell had known was ice skating, ice creations and nothing else. She rarely saw the sun, giving herself a pale hue to her skin. The sound of the water was encouraging and wild, but the breeze was soft and patient.

Definitely different from Hustle, bustle and noise. Rell looked around feeling as if she were in a fairytale... Somewhat. The smell and sound of the water kept coming back to her. There was something about it that she didn't quite understand. She would ask once they were settled in. One thing she didn't know, was that her eyes glowed upon seeing the water. These abilities were beyond her and she needed to now of them.

As they walking into the building, she looked around to see a fairly appealing place in comparison to the old castle she lived in for the longest time. Soon, Rell had followed behind the other two women there and had walked inside and took a seat. After Rell sat down, she started blushing wildly and her heart pounded, nervous to ask the question.

"Uhh.. Master Arenais.. Quick question and it may seem a bit odd.. But the water.. It seemed like it was calling to me. I have an uncontrollable ability and I'm not sure if it has anything to do with that."

She felt better for getting it out, looking at him the entire time, she was pretty sure she felt eyes on her, but she was not too sure about it.

The one good thing about Yutan, at least to Aarshlût was that the planet was unlike the other numerous planets in the galaxy. Many of those had allowed the cities and mechanical creations to run rampant destroying the environment itself. Disconnecting people more and more from their natural habitat. Or what had once been the natural habit for many numerous species that probably lost their lives in the face of such a rapid growth in machinery. It's personally why Aarshlût preferred the organic technology of his people, they need not harm the environment to live. Though many would not know that considering everything that has happened to planets in the past few years due to the Sith using his peoples’ technology. The thought would’ve at one point angered the Vong but now he just stood there arms tucked neatly at his back while the heads of his hydrastaff which sat on his waist snapped at the bugs in the air.

There were other students who had arrived before Aarshlût and so as to not interrupt their conversations with Master Veiere, Aarshlût would walk to the large opening which could be considered a window out to the wild. As he looked out at it Aarshlût’s eyes slowly shifted from their vibrant orange to a cool blue. Head tilting slightly to the side Aarshlût was overtaken by memories of his youth. How he used to be so young and play in the ponds on his homeworld. Him and his friends, now those days were long gone. Aarshlût was probably the oldest Padawan among the bunch, if not the oldest member of the entire order.

As though responding to his master's calm attitude the hydrastaff’s heads stopped snapping at the insects and just sat there staring out with their master. Thisss one must warn you. Conventional teaching doesss not work on the likesss of me.” Aarshlût said to Master Veiere without turning to look at the man. With that said Aarshlût moved to the seat at the end of the circle on the right side sitting without a cushion on the solid permacrete. Aarshlût knew from his reading and trying to practice the force the way most other users did that teaching wouldn’t aid him. He’d have to learn everything from scratch on his own. He was able to connect to the force so easily due to the Yammask implant but learning to utilize it was another issue entirely.

[member="Veiere Arenais"] [member="Karren Trask"] [member="Asheda Tyr"] [member="Gabriella Rhayne"]

"Fortunately for us then that there is little about the Force that is thought to be conventional by societies standards to date" Veiere responded reassuringly to [member="Aarshlût Muyel"] with a small smile, knowing that to many, the experiences in coming to understand and know the Force often differed from person to person and was in part shaped by the perceptions they held as well as their moral compass and affinity to connect with it. The man was Yuuzhan Vong however and the first that Veiere had come across in a good long time since before his Exile. To his knowledge the Vong were a race that sought nothing but organic materials, most taking to technologies of the galaxy as though they were a blight upon the natural order of things and to some extent, Veiere couldn't help but agree given the pollution that was often created from the mass cities that civilization had erected across the navigational charts; alas it was also a nessecity for living that technology be a consistent part of their lives and in this man, Veiere had been humbled to see a far more placid outlook on their livelihood and a keen interest in the Force from the view of the Jedi. He was a significant surprise the Conclave had brought them, and one to appreciate as they would likely learn as much from him as he might from their ways. "Rest assured I will do my best for you all to have walked away from this lesson with something to gain from it".

Turning his attention soon to [member="Gabriella Rhayne"], he gave a slight tilt of his head in intrigue, not entirely certain what it was that she had felt from the running waters of the nearby stream but curious all the same. "What ability would that be?" He glanced away from the group a moment, to look instead to their surroundings thoughtfully, soon adding in his consideration of the days lesson; "This place is wide spread with natural life, as we explore the Force and what it means to be Jedi, you will all slowly commune with it in your own way. Idealogies such as the Jedi Code and other theories will too be perceived in various lights dependent on your personal understanding and ability to relate to these things. Some of you may struggle with certain lessons yet find strengths in others. When you find these things that you can identify as your strengths and weaknesses within learning, embrace them and share them with your peers so that you can all learn and progress together...".

And finally in answer to [member="Asheda Tyr"]'s question, his intentions for this lesson and what would hopefully be many others to follow down this branch of learning, he grinned, offering something of a quiet chuckle at his own expense and speaking up on todays subject. "This class is called 'Force Mastery and Theory' or otherwise known as 'FMAT'. In these lessons we will not only discuss the Force but too ideologies and principles of the Jedi Order starting today with the Jedi Code and the Three Pillars of the Jedi. We may move on delve into the force too with enough time but that will depend on how much you're all willing to soak up. These first two subjects are quite in depth and are the corner stone of what will be expected of you all as members of the Order, both within and outside of the Jedi Temple, in your day to day lives". Naturally of course, things might go faster depending on the students past hand experience in discussing things such as the Jedi code; Veiere himself understood how eager they might be to jump straight into the more exciting of subjects yet the Code was the best place to begin, it taught self-restraint and offered the guidelines for all Jedi that ought to learn and adopt the etiquette that promoted responsibility alongside the abilities they would come to possess.

This was a much better part of the Yutan planet for Calder. For once the heat wasn't unbearable, and the lush green of the world was beautiful. On his home there was no green save for pine, and to see these different kind of trees and even grass was magnificent. Even the waterfall which ran instead of staying frozen was a sight to behold. And perhaps the most important and magnificent part of it all was the spirits here. They whispered in joyous song like playful sprites without a care in the world.

He took the long way around, sticking to the cooling shade to avoid another heat stroke, to learn more of this planet. A massive paw gently ran over the leaves of the trees. They were soft unlike pine needles. The grass under his feet was similar. Everything was soft on this planet where they didn't have to struggle to survive the cold. Perhaps that was why the Valkiri betrayed the Beorni. On a planet of ice, only the hard and strong survive.

Calder arrived late, stepping through the underbrush to the waterfall just in time to hear the over view of the lesson. Finally he would learn the core beliefs of the Jedi instead of combat. The lumbering giant would settle into a seated position, still towering over some around him. But at least he wasn't towering imposingly above the newcomers as he was during the conclave. For now, he listened to [member="Veiere Arenais"] , very eager to learn.

[member="Aarshlût Muyel"] [member="Asheda Tyr"] [member="Gabriella Rhayne"]

As she sat there and listened to [member="Veiere Arenais"]'s begin explaining todays lesson, and her first to be honest. She kept quiet for now though she couldn't really understand what most of them were on about when it came to the force, while she was a force sensitive she hadn't achieved the connection to the force the others had. To her it was more along the line of something gnawing at the back of her mind instead of the companion that master Veiere had explained it as to her.
She had to admit though the weather and enviroment was the greatest she had seen, but coming from a desert planet and this being the only other world she had ever visited.

Asheda sat in kneeling position listening to master [member="Veiere Arenais"] answer each question individually, he was patient with each of the student and gave an in depth explication to all of what they asked, she was surprised that the event earlier talks with individuals from the silver Jedi didn't deter him from his teachings. Though eager leaning the code was something she knew was required, despite being lest experience she knew that proper practice was required for just about anything. Just like with dancing evveyone must learn the basic steps before adding to it or progressing. "Im ready to learn when you are master, as well as the other students". It seemed that the size of members had grown slightly since the summit, that was good.

Veiere smiled warmly to Asheda Tyr in response to her acknowledgement of the lesson, soon glancing across the others and admiring their willingness to remain attentive despite the news that they weren't all to be thrown into practice of the force itself straight from the get go. "Very well...-Our first subject for the day is the Jedi Code..." He began, pausing to gauge their reactions for a moment in order to check their attention was upon him for what was to become a lengthy discussion that would carry them all throughout the future of their Jedi lives. "The Code is very much a guide of conduct for all Jedi of which encourages integrity and high morale standing in all things that we seek to achieve both within and outside of our personal endeavors. It is made up of four different sections. The Precepts of the Jedi Code, The Tenets, The Guidelines and The Attributes of the Code. All of these sections of Jedi ideology were taught to the New Jedi Order under the instruction of Grandmaster Luke Skywalker who had adopted and changed it ever so slightly to adapt from the old ways of the Jedi Order of the Old Republic" over the years a great deal of history had been lost to the Jedi Order with the separation of their infrastructure, many people however still recalled the name Luke Skywalker as an individual that had gone down in history as the Jedi Master who had defeated the Emperor to the former Galactic Empire as well as his apprentice and Luke's father, Darth Vader. The man later coming to found the Jedi Order upon Yavin IV and setting into pace the last great Jedi movement that had grown, adapted and continued to serve the force right up until Veiere's life had come into the remnants of that distant legend and soon found himself standing before these new prospective students looking back upon a crucial part of their history; all of them a symbol of the part and representing what could become their future.

"The Precepts of the Jedi Code are perhaps the most recognized aspect of the philosophy. Consisting of but Five lines, easy to say yet holding far more meaning should we look between these lines, they are..." He glanced upon his group, curious to see if some of them were already showing signs of familiarity to the precepts he was about to recite to them."Emotion, yet Peace. Ignorance, Yet Knowledge. Passion, yet Serenity. Chaos, yet Harmony. Death, Yet the Force". Veiere crossed his legs atop of his seat, draping his robe about himself as if to try to get comfortable, suggesting that he was in this for the long haul. It were these kinds of conversations that excited him the most, he enjoyed listening the thoughts of students in all their youth and eagerness to learn, thus he wasn't going to give them the answers but first expected them to share in group discussion before they moved on to the Tenets of the Jedi Path.

"Let us start with the first. Emotion, yet Peace. Who's willing to take a guess at what this might be encouraging for us all. Please, speak freely for you will all come to find different understandings of the Code especially and though your views may not always be the same as your friends, there are no real wrong answers here, simply an opportunity to expand your mind and understanding of our way of life".

"Emotion. Hate, love. Anger, joy. Sadness, happiness. All of us feel these emotions, some more than others. They are us. What makes us happy or angry is what makes us unique. But it is the Jedi who must act above them. For peace. Our emotions cannot play into our judgement alone, and we have to look at the bigger picture. It is our duty to mediate the emotions of others and our own towards the path of peace for all."

Calder was the first to answer, his eyes shut tight as he did so. Wisps of snow kicked up from his hammer, gently settling on his fur as a coolant. Even if it was cooler here, the large being wasn't ready to risk another heatstroke.

[member="Veiere Arenais"] @Others

Was a little confused on the subject of the code, this being the first time she'd ever heard it so there was an understanding to her confusion of it. "W-wait, wouldn't it be bad to immerse ourselves in our emotions? I can understand trusting a bad feeling or instinct when you have nothing else to fall back on but aren't Jedi supposed to be rational and cool headed at all times?" She asked as she raised her head a little while getting herself into a good position.

She felt her new robes were something that didn't fit her, like she didn't deserve to even wear them given she couldn't even touch the force, that and the fabric was much better than her old clothes and getting used to it's strange softness, odd quality while still seeming humble. Then again she had just arrived two days ago and this world and surroundings were vastly different from her desert planet mining town of origin, thinking on this she had chalked it up to it and hoped to get used to them as time went on.

Emotion yet peace.

A loaded line for the woman whom often felt herself above others. Her arrogance was certainly a factor in her relations with others, as much as she tried to stuff it down and temper it. some of her values were rooted deep in the beginning of the Jedi, in the Jed'aii of Tython. Yet others were borrowed from the Old Republic Jedi Code, which she still leaned vevy upon to sustain her.

And to get along with others.

"History does tell us in the Datacrons and Legends that Darth Sidious told Vader as young Jedi knight to trust his feelings. Feelings are what drew him into the abyss and made him do the unthinkable. My explanation? Dismiss your feelings entirely and focus on the mission or task at hand. Objectivity and good judgement must not be clouded by attachment nor personal bias."

Listening to what master [member="Veiere Arenais"] explained about emotion and yet peace, which was something that was a bit confusing to her, wouldn't dismissing emotion entirely defeat the purpose of the Jedi. "I can understand not giving into emotion and not letting I cloud your judgment and all, but isn't it our emotions that drive us to do good, isn't wanting to protect other and using the love we have emotion, and isn't calmness in itself an emotion of some sort". Some aspects of the code where a bit hard to understand, but she could gather that its what defined what type of Jedi someone was, something she was willing to adhere to if it made proper scene, though the whole talk on emotions didn't seem to sit right with her, espaccally with what [member="Karren Trask"] said.

Veiere was a good man and an even better Jedi. Even when told that Aarshlût wouldn’t be able to learn in the same way as the others the Jedi was still confident willing to meet the challenge. It was a change and the fact that Aarshlût wasn’t being ostracized due to not only his appearance but the species he hailed from gave the Vong hope that one day he could repair the shattered reputation of his people to the rest of the galaxy. Atone for not only his sins but the sins of all Vong, they’d done much under the One Sith, just as much as they had during their initial coming to the galaxy. Head lowering slight Aarshlût was lost in thought remembering how he had participated in preaching how the Sith had been the second coming of their gods. That they would be the ones to lead the Vong into brighter days. That hadn’t been the truth, furthest thing from it. They had done nothing but lead his people to the slaughter, and Aarshlût had aided in the herding.

Snapping back to the present he noticed that the class had officially started. They seemed to be discussing the Jedi code, something that while Aarshlût had read over had his own opinions that would possibly differ from the others involved. Each line of the code came with its own interpretation that each was supposed to have their own opinions on so as Aarshlût tried to form the words to describe his own opinions he listened to the others speak. The one he agreed with most was Calder, yet even then his own interpretation was slightly different. The second was Karren who used history to reinforce her arguments, one could rarely argue with that. Yet one thing Aarshlût noticed about humans is that they can find anything to argue about.

The final person before him to speak was Asheda, and in truth, hers was possibly the closest to his own beliefs.
Thisss one saysss that the emotions we feel make us… Ssssentient.” He wanted to say human but that wasn’t very fitting considering the diverse range of species that surrounded him. “We all feel these emotionssss and they can at times lead us astray, it is instead our duty to utilize and control these emotions.”

Turning his head to Karren Aarshlût continued. “From what thisss one hasss read it wasn’t that which caused the fall of Yu-“ Stopping himself before he once again referred to Luke Skywalker as a god Aarshlût changed his wording. “Luke’sss father. Instead, it was obsession. Love isn’t bad, it can give a Jedi ssssstrength correct? Even the strongest and most prevalent of your order loved, whether it be love of the Jedi or love of democracy. We all feel it. It's passion that one must fear.”

In listening to the responses of his students, Veiere couldn't help but be reminded of the need for a little professionalism behind the privacy of his own life. Their perceptions and questions upon the one line made him think of his own commitments outside of the Jedi Order, his marriage to [member="Lady Kay"] who also stood at the head of the Commenor Systems Alliance, a government figure of great political influence across the worlds they cared for and sought to enrich. In their personal relationship, Veiere had made his intentions clear when it came to politics and taking on the title of King of Commenor, he wanted not to be engulfed by that way of life and Kay had respected that, she knew his dedication to the Jedi Path and had always known that in that direction the two would share in a life that looked away from one another, at times bringing difficulty to their ability to be together yet their priorities despite their love, were first and foremost for the good of others. Something that these prospective students might one day come to understand the difficulty of representing, often requiring great personal sacrifice to abstain from.

"Emotion yet peace..." He repeated quietly as if to consider his own words to follow. He had taught the Code to many over his life time though only one in the passed six months. [member="Bradshaw Ku"], his step-son of whom had once been consumed by anger and following down a path of self-service and vengeance against the Sith. "My interpretation of the first Precept is this. We are all sentient, we are all vulnerable to making mistakes, to acting out with our emotions and being fueled by them if we're not careful. As Jedi we need to acknowledge these emotions, yet learn to overcome them and to restrain ourselves when we feel such feelings coming to take route before our common sense. If we're not able to keep a handle on ourselves, our priorities can be motivated by feelings such as self contempt, anger or lust...-Myself, I meditate when i have free time, I am able to acknowledge these feelings and to give them due credit during which I am of no influence to others. In the quiet I surround myself within the Force, it is there I am able to find my center...Something that I will teach you all to do in time".

"Remember everyone, whether a student, a Jedi Knight or a Jedi Master, our training never ceases and we all have something to learn...-Just as I will learn from you all in some ways as we continue our lessons" He smiled, offering them a moment of retreat that he might humble them all and express his view that they were all upon mutual level within his teachings, all seeking enlightenment within the Force that was so much larger than the group itself. Over time they would all take the Jedi Code with them, all continue to think and decipher it within their own time. It was therefore better for the students that they not dwell on one line for too long but Veiere provide them with an over all look of the code, encouraging them from afar to discover the rest in their own time as part of their paths to learning and maturity within the Jedi Path.

"Ignorance, yet Knowledge?"

Listened to all the others opinions while thinking on what she though and taking into account what the others had said as well. When she listened to [member="Veiere Arenais"] continue the lesson she had to simply cock her head to the side as the statement really didn't make that much sense to her. "Is it talking about how wisdom and knowledge are two different things?" She then asked though she looked around to the other students to see what they might say in better understanding of the statement.

"I assume it's more akin to what Master Arenais said prior. Regardless of our age or our power in the Force we still have things to learn. Every day has a lesson we can take to heart. We must always remember that we don't know everything, but the things we do know we should use to help where and how we can." This time he spoke with his eyes open, glancing around the group curiously for their take on the words. Despite how small of a sentence the code had, the wisdom behind each and the questions they brought up was quite amazing to the Beorni. Nothing was face value, everything had deeper meaning to an individual and to a group.

That was why he had wanted to become Jedi.

Veiere found himself grinning at his own expense, his gaze dipping for a time as he continued to listen to his students theories. It was a very interesting method of teaching, leaving them to guess and summarize their own views, to discuss and challenge each other within friendly company and in such a positive light. He had told them there were no wrong answers here and that was the truth, the Jedi only limited themselves by the refusal of knowledge shared yet when keeping an open mind, ones understanding of the Force can only grow by the combined will of enlightenment in the Jedi Path. They were as such, helping one another to learn and consider new aspects of the Code through such a discussion and it wouldn't only fall to the ideologies of the Jedi in the Code itself but in all future learnings; once upon a time the Jedi Order stood for unity in service to the galaxy and honor of the Force, much like a family in a sense, it was crucial that they were to all encourage one another as much as Veiere was responsible for guiding them now. His was only half of the task that lay ahead of them, the rest would be up to their solidarity as Jedi and their faith and experience in the Force and in the future to come.

The hem of her long skirts brushed against the green tips of the grass that flanked her every step, a soft tendril of moisture from early morning's dew left against the soft material. She knew herself to be late, having broken off from the group in order to change into something a little more suitable for the outdoors: light training robes wouldn't necessarily cut it when beyond the Temple walls, what with the verdant environment of Yutan. Teynara had chosen one of her long ankle-length skirts, a muted green in colour, matched by a tunic that was belted at her waist by a brown leather belt that matched the boots covering her feet. Her long blonde hair was loose around her shoulders, perhaps unwisely with the trees and the risk of being snagged on a branch, but it was more comfortable this way.

Her footsteps carrying her to the clearing where the others had chosen to gather, she noted the others sitting and standing in a loose conversational fashion, arrayed that they might talk to the group as a whole, but also to direct their eyes towards the one who had arranged this excursion: Master Arenais, a man who could appear harsh if he so desired, but more often than not had a smile in his eyes that belayed a sterner countenance. An odd contrast, but one appropriate for a Jedi.

As for the others...that was a shocking mix. The most obvious among them was the huge bear-like creature, one of the Beorni, and one Teynara was a little intimidated by. A horned Cernun, with sweeping black horns that adorned her skull, a fairly rare sight. A Yuuzhan Vong, tall and very alien, sitting upon a cushion in a fashion that seemed at odds with what Tey understood of their culture. Then there was the female Togruta, young and with an appealing skin colour, kneeling close by. The remaining two were, like her, both human and both women: one slightly older, judging by her appearance, the other considerably younger. What a fascinating little mix we have here, she thought wryly.

Veiere was speaking as she approached: the elder Jedi was known to be articulate and inclined to speak at length. From what she could tell, he was discussing the Jedi Code - the more modern version, rather than the traditional one - the guide by which Jedi were encouraged to live their lives. An odd concept, to condense something so complicated into just a few sentences. Discussions like these always led to much talking and debate, simply because few people interpreted their ideas in quite the same way. Only among Jedi could one concept mean four hundred different things...

Smiling softly in a mixture of pleasure and simply amusement, the young woman approached the group, bowing her head in a gesture of greeting, preferring that to interrupting the Jedi Master, which would have been the height of rudeness. He spoke of acknowledging one's emotions, and learning to respect them and understand how they might work, so that one could not be swept up by them. As the Master felt silent, the Cernun spoke up, her soft voice at odds with her appearance, asking a gentle question, with the intimidating Beorni following up with a rumbling basso that spoke to the power of that giant frame.

"You can't have knowledge without ignorance: it's a state of potential which changes with experience," she offered, coming to rest against the cool stone wall of the shelter, soft blue eyes moving across the group. Her voice was clear and calm, with just a hint of laughter that existed naturally within her tone, even though she was speaking seriously. "But ignorance can be both a state of potential and a state of mind," she added earnestly. "Some would rather settle for ignorance than embrace a hard truth, and that's the sort of thinking that leads to complacency and stagnation." She shook her head. "Not exactly the Jedi way, is it?"
