- Accessibility:
Accessing the depths of this underground facility requires personnel to enter through the ground floor, authenticated by their specialized identification. Historically, this identification was based on military hierarchy; however, in the present day, it is crafted within the Facilities Command Center, deeper below the surface. Utilizing the Command Center's extensive database, Balun and other authorized personnel can generate identification clearances for new members of the Tingel Arm Coalition or his private crew, Clan Terentatek. These clearances are categorized into various levels:
- General Clearance: The majority of personnel are granted general-level access, enabling them to utilize all essential facilities. This includes their living quarters, the vehicle garage for transportation needs, and the comprehensive training facilities.
- Security Clearance: Security personnel receive security-level clearance, granting them entry to the armory and the command center. Here, they oversee the operation of defensive armaments, ensuring the safety and security of the entire facility.
- Echelon Clearance: Reserved for the leadership and those responsible for managing the facility, echelon clearance represents the pinnacle of access privileges. Individuals with this top-tier clearance enjoy unrestricted access to every area within the facility, without limitations.
The underground facility revealed itself in the vastness below, sprawling like an ancient enclave or temple of immense proportions. Situated amidst the dense forestry of Maldra IV, its construction was a delicate balance designed to evade detection by the Republic's adversaries. Initially, work commenced on the surface structure to divert attention before descending into the depths to craft the secretive labyrinth beneath. Once the surface faculties and compound were completed, including the protection of defensive ordinance, construction would begin on the underground facilities. It is safe to say that the Republic of Old would have invested a significant treasure trove of credits to complete this infrastructure.
POINTS OF INTEREST
- External Landing Pads: Ground Level.
Eight landing pads are located on the outskirts of the compound for external craft to use when visiting The Nest. Their expertise guarantees that all ground-based transports are thoroughly inspected and maintained to the highest standards, ensuring safety and reliability on the road.
- Habitat Module: Ground Level.
Habitat Modules are pre-assembled homes designed for deployment on any planet, equipped with a diverse array of furnishings. This specific module is designed to accommodate ten personnel, providing all the amenities necessary for independent, high-quality living. Inside, personnel quarters are arranged with shared bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, three bathrooms, and a communal living and recreational centre, ensuring both comfort and functionality for its inhabitants.
- Communications Center: Ground Level.
True to its name, the Communications Centre serves as the primary communication hub for the facility's upper levels. Designed for autonomous operation, it functions independently from the underground sections. The Command Centre manages any communication needs arising from the lower depths of the Nest, ensuring seamless connectivity throughout the entire facility.
- Hangar: 1st Underground level.
The underground Hangar, the largest and foremost of the submerged facilities, welcomes all aircraft and spacecraft through an immense viaduct. This tunnel penetrates the planet's surface and extends for an impressive 50 kilometres before reaching the Hangar's interior. The viaduct and the Hangar are fortified with thick, secure blast doors. All incoming vessels must communicate their arrival and obtain clearance for landing, ensuring a controlled and safe entry into the facility. The Hangar is designed to house multiple squadrons of Starfighters and small-to-medium transport craft.
- Living Quarters: 2nd Underground level.
The second floor is the heart of The Nest's living quarters, welcomes with a warm glow and fresh air. Shared lounges furnished with seating pods, holo-game consoles, and refreshment dispensers encourage camaraderie among residents. Individual quarters, though compact, are personalised with posters and souvenirs. The lively mess hall manned by service droids, filled with the aroma of delicious food, serves as a gathering place for stories, debates, and the forging of brotherhood. This floor is equipped to house up to four hundred personnel at maximum capacity.
- Recreational Level: 3rd Underground level.
The recreational level is the lively heart of The Nest, a haven for personnel seeking respite. Neon signs advertise a cantina bustling with laughter, an arcade echoing with cheers and groans, and a tranquil library offering a quiet escape. Here, Force Users, Rebel Soldiers, and the Tingel Arm Coalition's volunteers unwind, reconnect, and recharge amidst the chaos of the Outer Rim Territories.
- Archives & Educational Faculties: 4th Underground level.
The hushed intellectual heart of The Nest houses a vast archive of datapads, holobooks, and ancient scrolls. Meticulously organised by Archivist Droids, the labyrinthine Archives section offers a glimpse into centuries of galactic history. Beyond, spacious chambers serve as Educational Faculties where willing participants may learn from various experienced individuals ranging from Force Users to Military Personnel of the Tingel Arm Coalition, fostering a thirst for knowledge that fuels the Republic's future victories.
- Training & Fitness Level: 5th Underground level.
The Training and Fitness Level, a dimly lit sanctuary thrumming with energy, serves as a training ground for Force users and rebels. Interconnected chambers house a dojo for lightsaber duels and hand-to-hand combat, a Force training room for honing abilities, and a state-of-the-art fitness centre. A tranquil meditation chamber offers respite from the intense training. This is where the spirit of rebellion is forged, bodies are strengthened, and minds are sharpened to fight against any oppressors of the Tingel Arm.
- Holo-Grid Simulation Arena: 5th Underground level.
An extension of the Training and Fitness Level, the Holo-grid Simulation Arena is one massive room where Holo-emitters line the roof and walls to create a simulated environment. This advanced technology can assist in creating realistic combat environments, war-time simulations and training simulations using The Nest's extensive Archive database. Combined with the Holo-grid, training droids are utilised to create immersive opposition, which personnel can use to train against all combatant scenarios.
- Research & Development Level: 6th Underground level.
Research & Development Level buzzes with innovation. Dimly lit corridors lead to laboratories where scientists in white coats tinker with advanced weaponry and xenobiologists study alien life. A tranquil meditation grove centred around a Force-infused fountain offers solace and wisdom. Nearby laboratories buzz with research, seeking new medicinal compounds and enhancing crop resilience. This garden symbolises hope, demonstrating the Force's power to nurture life even in the darkest corners of the galaxy.
- Base Storage: 7th Underground level.
A sprawling warehouse of the Tingel Arm Coalition stores everything from ration packs to Force artifacts. Its labyrinthine aisles hold essential supplies, fuel, and sensitive data. A dedicated chamber preserves ancient Jedi relics, while another section houses captured Imperial technology for reverse engineering. This hidden lifeline symbolises The Nest's resilience and unwavering determination to fight for a brighter future.

Once a Republic installation from a bygone era, the Nest was abandoned by its original inhabitants during the war against the One Sith. This installation was once a scouting outpost to ascertain any Sith presence within the Outer Rim Territories, specifically reporting on the southern sector of the Galactic Map. This facility was flagged as top secret, stricken from the public eye, and operated as a black ops reconnaissance post.
Air and ground defences were installed in case outsiders might discover the outpost embedded within the thick forestry of Maldur IV, and motion detection sensors were used to create a boundary to meet and deter any would-be trespassers. The team stationed here consisted of highly trained special operatives, agents, scientists, and medical staff. These personnel were carefully chosen, and numbers were minimal to limit attention drawn to the sector.
This forgotten stronghold, however, was eventually rediscovered and restored with the support of the Tingel Arm Coalition. Under his guidance, it was transformed into a formidable base, repurposed to house personnel dedicated to protecting and serving the people of the Outer Rim Territories and being used as a home base for Balun's crew, Clan Terentatek.
