The New Canon and Your Roleplay

I've been actively avoiding any aspect of Star Wars lore that isn't either in TOR, the Clone Wars or the Movies (things deemed Canon)

TOR actually has not been deemed canon. In fact, it really is the last area of legends that continues to grow.

EU canon was 99.99999% crap anyways, jedi lightning, near unstoppable Luke Skywalker who just had to think to use the force, living planets, creatures who aren't connected to the force, i can go on and on but i won't.

[member="Corey's OOC"] I grew up on the Clone Wars, just got into it as a pre-teen. I grew up with Ahsoka *sniffles at memories*

Majorly, I'll be drawing from EU and the new cannon alike. Like, for examples, the new weapons and [strike]Dave's new force ability for Ahsoka to prove her epicness[/strike] possible new force abilities, will also be seen with my characters. Thing is, I already have been drawing a lot out of the Clone Wars and now Rebels, really, I'm not affected at all. Especially since what I have also used out of the EU is not being degraded from this site.

I think..this goes into that whole comfort zone we have with Star Wars, A lot of the EU took a brave step and took us out of that zone, and thrusted us into a era of new ideas, and epicness most of us weren't ready for. (Specially with the Vong) I don't know why people are so scared to accept "Force Dead" things when Medichlorians are barely understandable. Tiny aliens and what not. But with the EU being (understandably) more part of Chaos then most are willing to accept, factions, weapons, force powers, its more part of Chaos than I think we believe.
Yes we have our own lore, but the original lore builds up to this in a sense. The EU is important cause we take it, and we build off it to make lore here. Will it effect my writing? No Revan is still canon, Dark Jedi are still canon, Republic Commandos is still canon, there's plenty of the books that are still canon that I enjoyed, granted Legacy of the Force isn't anymore...damn them!!!

I view nearly everything as canon other than things considered n-canon or some of the smaller s-canon material.

How, you ask?

Quite simple, actually, for I arrived at the same conclusion as I did with Mak when I transferred him.

When I transferred Mak from another board, I had a major problem that was told to me quite explicitly by everyone who posted in my welcome thread. While Mak was allowed to be who he was, no one would know of any of his adventures that he had while on that website.

So, I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either I would transfer Mak over and lose ten years of real life work or not bring him over.

That was when I came up with the idea of having Mak come in from an alternate timeline. So, that means while Mak is part of this universe, all of his events are still part of him and are valid. With the EU, since it was still canon when Mak was over at the other board, it's still canon because it's like different universes merging into one with this board.
