OBJECTIVE ONE [SYCOPHANTS]

DIRECT TAGS: Veles Oshu Veles Oshu Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf
LOCATION: The Grand Palace
RELEVANT LINKS: Vladislav Von Kresvelgard
OUTFIT: Nobleman's Outfit [Margrave George Signus Veuve]

Margrave George Signus Veuve (Vladislav Von Kresvelgard) would be watching from the lounger, that he was currently upon. Speaking with Baron Terupt and Baron Barboro, each of them being an important ally within the king's current court. Vladislav would personally exploit their rocky relationship with the Margrave to expand his own powerbase within the region. While the King was the ultimate ruler of the world, he had vassals of course those being the nobleman's. If Vladislav could turn the nobleman towards his side of things underneath this disguise. Then he could effectively rule this world without having to take it over, the bigger picture was important and that was he was loyal to the The Sith Empire as of yet in that regard. But as an alternative he also had his house Io relationships to back him up if things got messy and he needed a way out. Turning his head towards a group of individuals that were mingling with themselves, vladislav found it was the perfect time to introduce himself to them underneath this persona. Standing up and brushing off his robes, he would bow his form a little and pay respects to the barons.

"I apologize, O'Chaps. But I do spy an opportunity for me to line my pockets with unbounded treasures.." Margrave Veuve III said to them, blowing his cisgar within his hand as it filled the atmosphere with disgusting flavors that combined with his natural body odor to form one foul stench. "By all means, Margrave. Let us not keep you from important business." Baron Terupt said, picking up his glass of wine and drinking it as the cool liquid flowed down into his throat. Although it could have been poisoned, but vladislav wasn't that interested in having to be involved in a murder investigation right underneath the nose of the King and the several disguised members of the Sith Empire present here tonight. Although on the other hand, if he were to have a sudden heart attack. Margrave Veuve III would have a chance to absorb his assets into his powerbase and establish himself as the number one nobleman on the planet. Due to his connections with the corporations that ruled from the shadows and the criminal syndicates to which he paid to leave his property alone. Although in terms of monetary funds, he certainly had the largest so no one could outbid him when it came to assassinations. Vladislav pondored over this before looking over at Baron Barbaro, who was once again adjusting his monocle although he had perfect vision and had just worn it to appear more sophisticated than he actually was. Vladislav didn't disagree with his fashion statements in the slightest, having come in only the best silk robes on the market and wearing several expenses jewels that must have costed a fortune to behold.

"Goodbye for now, Margrave. But shall we schedule another game of servant ball. It is always amusing hunting down servants with our war hounds." Baron Barbaro said, laughing a bit. He was into sports although his version was twisted when he hunted down slaves and servants in a private forest. Hunting them with his blaster rifle always came with a smile on his wrinkled face. Vladislav found hunting down his prey to be most amusing, although the next time that Barbaro went hunting, he might just hunt him down as well. Killing a well known nobleman and framing it on Baron Terupt would allow his current persona to gain the most power from this arrangement. He would have to regather his thoughts, as his fat form pushed through the crowd. Knocking down several ladies of the court without care, although they gave him disapproving looks. The Margrave was far too powerful to disrespect, having earned himself a place at the king's table through sheer business ruthlessness and having his thugs speed up production in his child slaving operations. Vladislav liked to wield power within his personas, although he had to wait for his powers to recharge so if he was to be attacked. He would have to fight like a drunken man for a little bit and cower as the real margrave couldn't fight in the slightest. Making his way over to the group that had gathered around, he stood there in his luxury robes and long grey beard. His perfume was way too high, as it could be smelled from outside the palace itself and seemed to linger like a skunk. Only getting worse over time.

"Greetings to you, Friends of Distant Places. I am Margrave George Singus Veuve the III of House Veuve, Owner of the Largest Shipping Company currently on the planet and beyond if I do say so myself. Do you might if I enjoy your company" Vladislav said to the group ( Veles Oshu Veles Oshu , Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex , Taeli Raaf Taeli Raaf ), within this persona. Talking with a napkin covering his mouth, acting like he was brushing off crumbs from his cracked and dry lips. Although he expected them to refuse outright, the possibility of upsetting the margrave who had the ear of the king due to his influence was nothing short of a risky gamble. Although he was really here to talk with them about the information that he had uncovered by talking to both of the barons. Although he gave no indication of this incase they weren't the disguised sith lords that he had sought afterwards. After all he was only a very recent addition to the sith empire and many people might not even know who he was. So he would have to keep up his persona of a nobleman of the court for a short period of time until he could confirm.

Krause Zelier entered the gates, donning the robes of a nobleman. For all they knew he was a business man. Krause dreaded parties, the fact that his golden skin and physical appearance attracted curious looks didn't help. He scanned the crowd, wondering where to begin. The venue itself was quite stunning with its decorations and well dressed participants.

As he walked through the crowd he analysed his surroundings, grabbing a glass of wine of a passing waiter. Krause himself wasn't the best at fitting into these events, but his robes were flashy enough to the point where he doubted they would notice his physical appearance. Just then he spied an interesting man (Vladislav Von Kresvelgard), dressed as a nobleman. He had little to no knowledge on who were sent by Empire and who were simple nobleman, but he would figure it out eventually. For now though, it was time to mingle amongst the rich and powerful.

"Long enough, I imagine.", Dorian said with a swirl of his champagne.
Dorian would however smile as Vladislav Von Kresvelgard and Krause Zelier Krause Zelier would join their circle.
"I do believe that honor goes to the Everest Shipping Company from Terminus - though your own is surely a close competitor.", how close a bit of a stretch, however.
"Everest seems to control 85% of the import-export licenses on the planet; a holdover from the Ominov Treaty. Thus far they've proven difficult allowing foreign competition in, preferring to maintain their monopoly. It's made getting IGBC assets onto the planet rather... Troubling.", he said with a frown.
"Tell me - how are you two enjoying the party?", he said to the new arrivals.

As the Asha'Kurat fleet lay in the empty space of the trade lane, there was the impending beep of ships on the radar. The bridge announced the arrival of the trade fleet - warned everyone to prepare, and in a matter of only thirty seconds, it would arrive. When it did, a military escort of Katchan ships of varying sizes arrived. Star destroyers, frigates, and multiple corvettes - all surrounding multiple kilometer long super freighters all bearing the isignia of the Everest Shipping company - identification numbers on their sides pointing to Terminus as their arrival point.
The command came out from the Sith Commander in charge -
"All personnel, prepare the assault."
In the flash of a second - the Asha'kurat ships began to open broadside fire onto the oncoming vessels. The gravity wells of their utility ship activated - and the trade convoy began to align itself for engagement. By the time they were in position, the turbolasers of the Asha'kurat had already disabled two of the frigates - leaving their fleet lacking in the great excess. Now was the time for a massacre.

The shuttle was relatively quiet, with most of what little noise there was coming from the occupants checking over their equipment or shifting around as they all awaited the action to begin. The masked Acolyte, for his part, had simply been staring out into space and running over several topics in his mind. His contemplation was broken however, as he heard the familiar voice of an...ally.

His gaze snapped back from the window to see the small form of Azera almost dancing around him as he resisted the urge to grit his teeth behind his mask. "Oh, they brought in cannon fodder." Alisteri muttered, visibly trying to shift further away for a moment as she hopped into the seat next to him. His efforts were unsuccessful, due to the straps keeping him in his seat.

"There is more room over there you know-ah forget it." He doubted that she intended to move anytime soon. "Ah, and what a pleasure it is to be working with the Great Pink Beast at last." The high five was left hanging, sarcasm being his only reply.

Alisteri's attempt to look away was halted at the sight of the drink can, his head tilting for a moment in curiosity before pausing in shock as she downed the whole drink in one sitting. "By the Force. You do know that you're supposed to sip that right?" He could only imagine what sorts of chemicals and artificial sugar was packed into such a drink. The mere thought made him look at Azera with equal parts horror and amazement.

Thankfully for him though, there was soon something else to distract him from his evident ally. His attention, as well as most of the heads of the other occupants, turned to the light on the ceiling of the shuttle as it came on and blared a red glow. That was the alert that they were waiting for. Thank the Force, finally some action.

The warning came over the communications then, giving them thirty seconds to prepare whatever they hadn't already. He was ready, eager to get out of the cramped boarding shuttle. And away from this diminutive little creature.

And then finally, their targets appeared.

In an instant ships began firing, the full might of the Asha'Kurat's assembled fleet opening up on the escorts and the escorts quickly firing back in return. The advantage of surprise was a great boon, two of the enemy frigates had already been put into decommission and the fighters were scrambling to join in the battle.

:"Stand by and prepare for boarding.": The pilot's voice was the only warning as their shuttle began to move as most of the other smaller craft of the fleet had began to descend upon the trade convoy.

"About time."

Ivory slid into a seat beside Tywinn, wincing as something sticky gripped the fabric of her pants. "At least they're comfortable..." She said to her companion, giving him an uneasy grin.

She began to lean into him, looking as-if she were about to ask him a question, when the muffled sound of a slugthrower-shot broke through the thudding music and hum of noise in the room. A heavy thud followed the sound as the corpse's hand went limp, falling to the table, still holding the smoking antique. If Tywinn turned, joining Ivory in looking toward where the shot had come from, they'd both see a body slumped in one of the chairs. The smell of propellant, blood, and vaporized brain-matter mingled with the already-noxious smells in the room.

Ivory watched and listened to the whoops and hollers of the group who'd witnessed the event and were celebrating. One of the bouncers,similarly dressed in leather and sporting the familiar black circle roughly tattooed into his chest, kicked the corpse & the chair together over. The table nearly toppled, but remained upright... The corpse landing on the floor with a thump.

The old blaster - now visible in the light - was certainly a relic. It appeared to have been used for everything from hammering nails to stirring slop. Ivory regarded it impassively, wondering for a moment how they'd actually managed to keep it in working shape.

Her head turned back toward Tywinn, eyebrows raised. "You think he paid his tab?" She asked.

One of the bartenders heard her dark jest and chuckled aloud. "Mathis? Bastard never paid for everything. Until he sat down at that table."

In another life, she might have fit in here after all.

In response, she grinned at the man - regarding the large scar which ran from his right eyebrow to the very back of his skull. He looked like he'd lost a back alley knife fight at a young age. "Two of whatever Mathis wasn't paying for." She said, sliding a credit chit toward the man... Which he took, brought them two small glasses of a brackish-looking Amber liquid, and hung around for a moment. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the body being dragged away.

Ivory picked up her glass, eyeing Tywinn, hoping he'd do the same... And drank it down in a single blast. She immediately began to cough.

Whatever it was tasted like it would serve double duty as a fuel-cell solvent.

"Yeah! There you go, girl!" The bartender laughed, his voice harsh and grating on the ears.. Ivory's head swam.

"So," The scarred man said, "You're looking for work?"

Ivory nodded in the affirmative. If she was acting, she deserved an award. Her eyes were watering and she tasted bile.

"We'll... I've got a job for you."

"Survive one round of the game Mathis just failed... Or get the kark outta my bar."

The music hadn't stopped, but Ivory knew everyone in the room had heard the exchange and was watching her and Tywinn... And at that moment, they were a razor's edge from life or death.

{Prove Your Worth}
["Stand by and prepare for boarding."]

Strapped into his safety harness, the young man could feel every pitch and rumble of the shuttle as it shot through the curtain of blasterfire towards the trapped trade convoy. The vibrations made him feel as if his stomach was in a knot. Any moment now, a turbolaser would disintegrate their attack craft; any moment now, a flack gun would tear its shuddering metal hull to pieces, and they'd all be ejected into the void. Any moment now, Venn was going to lose his mind and snap both the pink thing and the helmeted guy's necks if they didn't shut UP, for the love of Ommin...

Red lights cast swinging shadows over the seated raiders, making the young novice dizzy. He was going to be sick- No! I've got to focus. I can't screw this up. I owe at least that much to him. I'm a rebel, I'm a rebel, I'm a rebel....

It repeated like a mantra in his head. He was a betrayer of Fate, a rebel against the Great Tyrant of Destiny. He was an insurgent, he was a warrior, he was... he was... definitely going to throw up. In desperation, a hand gripped the small wooden ring he'd bound to a black cord around his neck.

~}&{~

And suddenly it was all gone: the bickering companions, the pitch and roll and rumble, the lights and shadows. All of it. Venn was sitting in a mass of twisted roots and branches, dimly lit by some hidden star. There was only the quiet moan of the wind, twisting through these gnarled tangles. This was nice.

And then the whispers began.

You came back, little light....

The twisting roots began to form a great thorny mouth, speaking in a voice that was at once both soft and harsh. Where did you go to? Where are you flying? Who is that with you?

Venn gazed passively up at the terror before him. "Hello again. I just came for a little quiet, that's all."

The woody tendrils lashed out from every direction, gripping the young man's torso with a crushing strength. There is no quiet here. There is only us. There is only death. You should have stayed away.

Despite being completely immobile before the enormous maw moving to devour him, Venn seemed completely unconcerned. "Well, there's not only you. Not anymore. Be seeing you." And the young man reached into his emotions, drawing from his arrogance, his confidence, and his mirth. "First Seal; purge."

The dull wooden ring hanging at his neck flashed scarlet. And then Venn was flinching awake, safely strapped into his seat on the boarding craft. He let out a relieved laugh, shaking his head as he ran his fingers through his dark hair. That had been so stupid, so reckless.... so fun. The novice's fright was replaced with a nervous excitement. He'd been clutching his seat's harness in trepidation; now he could hardly wait to be free of it. A crazed grin had appeared on his face and it wasn't leaving. He was a warrior. He was a rebel. He was Sith.

And he was about to prove it. There was an enormous lurch throughout the entire shuttle. As the pilot spoke again, Venn's harness came uncoupled.

"By the Force. You do know that you're supposed to sip that right?"

The diminutive Seseli looked at the masked Acolyte with a quizzical expression borne across her features, as a rivulet of the beverage slid down the side of her mouth, her long, almost frog-like tongue snaking out to lap it up from her chin. Gulping down the remainder and letting out a satisfied sigh, Azera opened her mouth to respond, only for her eyes to be drawn to flashing red light on the ceiling, indicating that their targets had been intercepted from that strange, alternate dimension that ships traveled through. Nevertheless, tossing the now-empty can into the shuttle’s garbage disposal, Azera cracked her knuckles and glanced up at the masked Acolyte with a mischievous, wicked grin plastered over her features.

”Stand by and prepare for boarding.” The voice of the pilot intoned over the intercom.

“That’s our music!” The Seseli said, popping a caramel chocolate in her mouth as the shuttle began to jerk forward, indicating that they were launching into the void. Unlike the drink, Azera savored their taste, distracting herself from the fact that right now, her life and the lives of those around her, were in the hands of a stranger. Soon, one chocolate after another was pulled into the Sithspawn’s mouth as the shuttle ran the gauntlet of point-defense fire and enemy fighters, her long tongue snapping out to snatch the savory treats from the air as she made a game of tossing them up and eating them.

“Want one?” She offered the masked Acolyte. “How about you, pyromancer?” The Seseli added, after recognizing the boy ( Venn Kolis Venn Kolis ) sitting across from her, though he seemed to be caught in a daze. Suddenly, just as she popped another treat into her mouth, the pyromancer began to cackle with laughter, his features twisted with a deranged excitement as the shuttle lurched to a halt.

“Hmmm…well, we all have our way of coping.” Azera said softly, before undoing the straps holding her into the seat and sliding gracefully to the floor. Then, after sealing her helmet over her head, she gave her weapons one final check before moving towards the disembarkment.

The droids and the internals of the ships systems buzzed to life. After the ship wide broadcast. The R2 Unit next to Rure relaying the message to her as it would connect into the ships systems. Rure gradually rose up with an ominous presents projecting off her. She lifted her sword holding it out with a hiss from her lips before she made her way into the cockpit of her craft. Upon entering it Rure glanced out the window as the party started and beams of light begin bouncing back and forth across the empty space between vessels. She placed her hand gently up against the plasteel glass windshield taking a deep breath concentrating. "Yes, yesss." She mumbled underneath her breath. "Set a course for the lead ship. And target their shield generators only I want onboard!" She said to the droid pilot as it reached over to the arm console and disengaged the ships landing gear from the hull of the vindicator as Rure's shuttle jerked before floating away from the vindicator as it maneuvered away. The bright red glow of the ships engines firing up before it speed toward the battle. The shuttle immediately begin maneuvering around other ships and various capitol ship fire all the while not yet firing a single shot.
After some time of flying around ships as both fleets assumed battle formations Rure pressed closer to the windshield. "That's the one they are there the one I will feast upon." She said as the shuttle zoomed toward the KUS Endeavor "Target the shield generators with all batteries and fire! Include a spread of photon torpedo's." She called out to the weapon droid. As in the moment the guns onboard the shuttle would come to bear forward before blasting bolts of purple upon the enemy flagship.

The shield concentration of energy with the added damage of the photon torpedo's was enough to cause a small breach in the shield array to cause damage to the generator shield. The shuttle quickly zoomed pass the generator as the ship now focused its batteries upon the shuttle. "Bring us around for another pass attack the same coordinates where the damage broke though. This time shower the area surrounding it with energy fire. to pervent the shield from regenerating. And launch remaining photon torpedo's at the generator." She called out to the droid as the ship buzzed over the Endeavors Hull

Once target acquisition had been made once again only the forward batteries opened fire upon the shield. While the other would than start targeting secondary craft that had begin engaging the nimble shuttle. Moments later the torpedo pods exploded on the front hull of Rure's shuttle as the weapons escaped from there launchers and speed ahead of the shuttle within the barrage of energy fire from the same ship to the shielding. The torpedo's punching though just as Rure's ship would maneuver away heading toward a docking port.

Tywinn could sense the air in the room, shift in a blink. Flickering lights were the only thing heard, and it seemed as if the bar had united almost "against" Tywinn and his new friend. Sweat dripped from the shot in front of him, and after hearing the coughing fit of Gwen, Tywinn was ready to bring the life blood back into the fold.

Back on Mandalore, Tywinn was trained as a beskar-smith, and therefore never honed his skills as a marksman, or commando. Smiths were often only allowed to know the very basics, but Tywinns former master had thought it was crucial for him to remain sharp as ever in hand to hand combat. Echani, a fighting style taught to most commandos across the galaxy was entry level so over time, Teras Kasai, Stava, and even the mastery of the Mandalorian Shuk'orok, also known as Crushgaunt's, Tywinn's only weapon.

Shuk'orok were his heavy gloves, covered in beskar plates and spikes. Often able to catch a lightsaber strike, and almost impenetrable to blaster shots. It is said that those who wield them can crush rock, bone, and metal with a single strike, giving it's users almost super strength, paired with the flexibility of a fully functioning glove. His gloves had a name, given to them by him when he forged them after completing his smithing training, Krung, and Pugg, named after former smithing grandmasters across the galaxy, and users of the gloves as well.

Tywinn threw up his hand, psyching himself up for the next stop on this train. Two fingers into the air towards the bartender, and two more shots had arrived in front of Tywinn. One for the money, two for the show, three shots are here, so come on lets go, Tywinn thought, putting his Shuk'orok on under the table as the quick exchange happens between Gwen and the bartender.

It took but a single moment for the void to erupt into an orgy of violence, the trap had been sprung and the Sith alongside their compatriots sprung into action all but immediatley. But not Lirka, no, she waited. Now not by choice, there was the simple problem that this ship was a pile of bolts that somehow was able to keep itself together by forces Lirka didn't even want to try to understand, giving a panel a hardy kick the freighter sprung back into life. It was certainly a...rougher look to say the least, to think that at one point Lirka stood proud as a Grand Moff with Moridinae held in her iron claws. How time flew.

She kept her distance from the wall of shuttles, and for good reason: for not too long after the fighting began one explode as it was pounded by return fire from the convoy. Was certainly bigger than what she was used to, and while this was of course just another job at the end of the day, a fire burnt within her heart, a longing, not for violence but a mighty lustful greed. She wanted those ships, to make the stars bend under her will. Perhaps the sith brutes would be merciful enough to spare some of the scraps as payment...

But for now, Lirka needed to focus on what she did best: turning the enemy into a state of being very much unalive, she decided to play escort this time around, keeping her distance behind one of the shuttles and letting the two turbolasers mounted on her craft roar out whenever an enemy fighter got anywhere close to being in range, a handful of them blasted into little more than shrapnel before they could threaten the boarding team. Besides, she needed them alive, they'd take the brunt of the assault anyway when landing.

Now all she needed was to find a suitable hangar to "land" in and introduce herself to the good corporate folks.

Flying through space, surrounded by the sounds of conflict and destruction, separated from death by luck and some hull, it had been far too long since Alisteri had felt the exhilaration of being in a warzone. The mood was soured somewhat by the small pink creature sitting next to him, Where does she keep these snacks from? , but he found that ignoring her was easier when the sound of war was all around. The boarding shuttles all had their targets of course, but most would be heading past the escort fleet and right to the heart of the convoy.

It was a dangerous run of course, but it had to be done to secure the information aboard the shipping freighters. Besides, what's a few wasted ships and lives to our 'glorious' overlords anyway? His gaze briefly shifted to another occupant of the shuttle at the sound of laughter, idly noting what appeared to him as a somewhat maddened expression. Note to self, go the opposite direction of that one.

Thankfully for all aboard, the shuttle weaved through the interchanging fire and ships and managed to make it to one of the targets. The lurch as the shuttle docked with the freighter pulled him from his thoughts and he was quick to slip out of his seat once the straps had been pulled off. Of course the masked Acolyte had no way of knowing exactly what defenses and defenders would be awaiting them, but that didn't stop him from rushing ahead to be one of the first out of the shuttle.

His lightsaber flew into his hand and was quickly ignited as the door slid open to allow them access to the freighter. "Oh how I have missed this."

His anger had only grown at his sister. She dared to sell them out to foreign aggressors for personal gain - and the smug expression on her face told that she knew she could get away with it. All it would take is the death of their Father and they would face the prospect of a civil war.
"I'll never reject my claim.", he said with teeth clenched.
His sister's smile turned to a slight frown, but she kept an unassuming stance to herself to not draw attention. Her eyes took not only a disappointing stare to them - but a drop of hatred to corrupt their color.
"So you'll consign a thousand to die for something you can't hold onto?", she said simply.
It all had become too much. He nearly yelled when he replied;
"I'm tired of foreign sycophants using us to line their pockets - and if you've 'consigned' our world to be the consumer slaves of a thousand worlds then yes! I'd rather thousands die than millions live on their knees!"
But when his outburst was done, and his chest heaved, he realized others were staring at him. He frowned, clenched his fist, and stormed off to find himself a drink. It seemed she had won this duel - no more than by him making a fool of himself before the nobility.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The weight of the Bartender's words settled on her over the space of a series of heartbeats.
She glanced over toward her companion, watching the Mandalorian order two more shots of the brackish, strong liquor... but her practiced eye could see he was ready. Then, she turned her gaze back toward the bartender; the big, bald man with the scar over his scalp was watching her closely.
Ivory nodded, then stood up from the bar. Turning on her heel, she walked back the way they'd come - to the table they'd passed upon entry and the group of four (now three, with the corpse having been cleared out). The chair was still laying on its' side beside a puddle of blood - black in the dim lighting of the club. She picked it up and righted it, replacing it where ol' Mathis had taken his last breath.
Ivory slid into the chair, adjusting it and pulling it closer to the table... then surveyed the three that were still willing to play the Galaxy's most dangerous game of chance.
The one directly across from her was a woman; skinny, pale, and wearing a toothy grin. Long, stringy, dirty blonde hair covered her head, and her eyes were bloodshot. The woman was staring at her like a hungry Vornskr.
The man to her right was tall, broad, and covered in rough tattoos similar to the rest of the patrons. One of his eyes was a pale, milky white and he was missing the index finger on his left hand. He stared at her with his good eye, his expression completely blank. There was no life in him, but he breathed and moved.
The man to her left was edging from "Fat" to "Obese" - his skin was a yellowish tinge which meant he was likely suffering from liver failure, and once she was close enough to him, her nose wrinkled. The smell of soiled clothing, unwashed body odor, and sweat was nearly overpowering. He ignored her, looking down at the table and the small pile of credits that lay atop it.
The old slug-thrower had been retrieved from the floor; held, now, by the woman across the table, who spun it around her finger once.
"You can bet creds... or just your life. What'll it be?"
Ivory reached into a pocket, withdrawing a cred chit, and tossed it down onto the table with a "clink". She stared at the woman evenly, expressionless... and the woman leaned forward, placing the revolver in front of the raven-haired mercenary. In an explosive burst of movement (and faster than any fat man had a right to be) the obese man to Ivory's left suddenly snapped forward, slamming his hand down on the table - making it bounce, causing a few of the bottles to crash to the floor, and the pile of credits to scream at the violent movement.
When he pulled his hand away, two silver cartridges were laying beside the gun.
Ivory hadn't moved... hadn't jumped... hadn't flinched. She kept breathing, keeping her heart-rate down... slowing her breath... staying in the moment.
"Load it." The woman across from her said with a snarl, and Ivory reached out, retrieving the blaster. The grip was rough in her hand - likely repaired by some back-alley gunsmith from an old piece of gnarled wood. It was just as dirty as she'd first suspected... She wondered, again, how it could still be functioning... but the design was reliable, and with so few moving parts, it likely didn't take much maintenance.
Under the watchful eyes (or eye) of nearly every person in the room, Ivory opened the cylinder, then picked up each cartridge individually... selecting a chamber at random.
Keeping eye-contact with the woman directly across from her, Ivory spun the cylinder, placed it against her temple, and pulled the trigger.
Then, she set it back down on the table.
- To immediately be picked up by the one-eyed man to her right, placed against his temple, and the trigger pulled.
He hadn't spun it, resetting the chambers. He'd just gone for it.
Ivory let out a breath... pushed herself away from the table... and stood up. The group at the table watched her go without saying a word.
The bartender was waiting for her with another shot of liquor.
"Well, well... I guess you've got some guts." He said as she slid back into the seat beside Tywinn, picking up the shot glass, and immediately drinking it down. She didn't cough, but she still felt like she needed to vomit.
The bartender was staring at her, leaning forward on his hands against the bar, watching her take the drink. His gaze shifted to the Mandalorian seated beside her - looking like he was considering saying something, but apparently decided not to.
"My name's Grimm. This is my bar. That's the last shot on the house... the next one you pay for. You wanna make some credits?"
"Oh how I have missed this."
“Oh how I’ve missed you, mister tall, dark, and brooding.” Azera purred coyly in response, her words laced with a bloodthirsty growl as the ramp began to slowly come down. All the while, the tiny pink Seseli bounced on her toes, pulling a flash grenade from her belt and activating it with a high-pitched, electronic beep, which served as a warning to her allies. “Cover your eyes, boys! Lights out!” The Seseli called out. After counting to two in her head, Azera heaved the grenade into the hangar. The luminescent explosive was the very first thing to go past the ramp, going off in mid-air just as it penetrated the ranks of the corporate mercenaries, giving them only a split-second window to react to the flying grenade. Bathing the hangar in a blinding flash of light and propagating sonic waves, the Sith pirates would immediately have the initiative, though only for a short period before the highly-trained mercenaries recovered from the initial shock. Keen to take advantage of it, Azera sprinted down the ramp with blistering speed in the detonation’s wake, her powerful legs driving her diminutive form at rapid pace deep into the lines of the mercenaries.
Then, the massacre began.
Starting her gruesome work from close to the rear of the enemy formation, the twin shotguns on Azera’s right gauntlet banged out a pair of solid, 10-gauge slugs into the skulls of two stunned soldiers, their heads popping like overripe fruits as the massive rounds expended their force in sudden, visceral fashion. Then, using their falling bodies as leverage, Azera jumped on top of a nearby gangway, before expending what was left of her shotguns capacity into one of the mercenary’s on the platform, her first slug pummeling his chest, before the second ripped through his skull in an explosion of viscera. However, sensing that the mercenaries were beginning to recover from the initial shock, Azera let loose with a torrent of blaster fire on the remaining hostiles, managing to cut down one in a barrage of energized particle beams as she covered her retreat down from the gangway.
And yet, licking her lips as her hypersensitive nostrils drank in the pungent, ferrous note of blood in the air, Azera knew that there was far more blood to be spilled on this day.
Sasha's smile broadened as the Nagai woman joined them.
She then laughed with one hand covering the lower portion of her face and the other holding onto the glass of wine. "Oh, a few tries, my dear. The right quantities, the correct cadence. I have to admit it was quite..." Sasha bit her lower lip and traced her index finger down the front of her chest, making an effort to accentuate her chest as she did so.
"Exhilarating~"
Then they were joined by others, "Oh, the party is fantastic, Margrave. The hospitality of his majesty is always appreciated. So many exotic faces, so many new names to learn. Anyone who's anyone seems to present." Sasha took a sip of her drink, eyes never wavering from looking at the two new arrivals. To the magnate's trained eye, it was clear that these two were members of the Order in disguise. Had anyone realized that five Sith were all mingling together at the party, they might have felt the need to be alarmed. However, their infiltration went undetected and the party continued as if nothing was amiss.
Sasha's eyes only wandered from the outburst by the heir apparent and his sister. "Nationalism has always been an easily malleable tool, dear Dorian. It will not be difficult to steer them in the right direction, not after what their nation has suffered. How humiliating."
He had made his introduction as the margrave to the small crowd that had now formed, being joined by Krause Zelier Krause Zelier now within the small group that formed. Vladislav was confident that they were all fellow sith lords, although he himself disdained the pettiness of the sith lords and thus refused to refer to himself as one. If anything he was the Dark Count of the Von Kresvelgard Dynasty and nothing more. Taking a sith title and the rank of darth would diminish himself to be equal to others within this room and he would have none of it. He had made a critical error as he hadn't known that the Everest Shipping Company from Terminus was the largest shipping company on the planet, so he shifted his statement to make it more logical.
"Well, I do digress that the Everest Shipping Company is the most powerful due to the bounds of the treaty that you now bring up to me. But I never did state what we were shipping did I, so it isn't out of the range of possibilities for mine to the largest in certain avenues of business"
The Margrave said in response to Dorian Harper's statement in regards to his comment about him owning the largest shipping company on the planet. "Monopolies can be broken simply by buying out their shareholders, get them to implant IGBC assets into the Everest Shipping Company and eventually all that profit from the monopoly will be transferred back to you without having to lift a finger. Although do notice that I am not exactly an expert in such manners." Vladislav said to him, although he did pose as a financial consultant for the Bank of the Core. He didn't know how the intergalactic banking clan was operating now a days due to not keeping up with recent events as much as he should have using the excuse that his planet lacked connection with the holonet. Smoking his cigar stick within his mouth and brushing his long and grey beard with his unoccupied hand, certainly this group of theres was interesting.
"The party is certainly going as expected, although I do have my reservations on the state of my homeplanet. The king is certainly in an interesting position as of late and might be opposed by the nobility who want more power for themselves. Although this is only a logical theory." The Margrave said to them in his fake noble voice, looking over to the rest of the people that were within the circle that they formed. Just as he did so, he spotted the Heir Apparent and his Sister engaging in open conflict with one another. If he was the actual margrave instead of a phony, he would have seized the opportunity to announce that the dynasty was unfit to rule the planet and that it was time for the nobility to govern the world, all that would lead to would be finances in his pockets.
"It would seem that the dynasty is falling apart, if you will. An opportunity to increase the power of nobles which we can control better that can push the agenda of the Sith Empire with or without the sister being involved." Vladislav dropped his fake voice for his actual voice, being firm but smooth tone and with a slight accent due to being a sangnir highblood from the Von Kresevelgard Dynasty. Getting back into character as more nobleman would move around the hall, he had spotted the two noblemen that he had spotted before engaging in conversation with other powerful nobleman, forming their own factions and cliques. Vladislav enjoyed these kinds of games and setting the different noble factions against one another would allow his persona to take charge of them all and rule the planet through proxies' instead of openly wishing to take control of the planet. He turned and grabbed a glass of red wine from the passing servant, sipping on it while he waited for responses from the group in front of himself.
The command was one of simple necessity, not mindless bloodlust. It was imperative that there was nothing to tie this operation back to the Sith, and so the policy was a simple one. All security holos were to be wiped, just like all passengers and crew. The frightening thing to Venn was that his lack of remorse at the grisly work was not born of a callous indifference. Every frightened scream and desperate shout of defiance was a reminder that each of these brave (if stupid) soldiers was a sentient, with their own experience and perspective.
Instead, Venn's resolve came from an understanding of what was at stake. In a battle against nations and great powers, sacrifices were quite literally inevitable. And in a battle against Destiny itself? Well, the principle merely scaled in scope and implication.
“Cover your eyes, boys! Lights out!”
The fighting just outside the breach door was quick and brutal. A flash charge went off in a glare, the crack of slugthrowers and shrak of repeating blasterfire. As the crowd of dark assailants followed the little Sithspawn out into what appeared to be the larger ship's cargo hanger, Venn saw her racing back towards her allies. She'd certainly kicked the Cannok nest this time. At least 3 were dead, maybe more, out of a squad of 20-ish armed guards. From their weaponry and garb, they seemed more like a hired security team than crewmen.
As the little pink one moved past him, Venn stepped out into the open to face the remaining enemy troops. He was conscious of several blaster barrels pointing in his direction. "Stay behind me!"
Roaring out to the other invaders, the young man raised his open palms towards the mercenaries. A red bolt missed his head by inches.
And then Venn shot back.
Flames exploded from each of his palms in rolling clouds of orange and white, engulfing the enemies before him, flooding the hanger, and dispersing as quick as they'd come. The move was impressive, but lacked the heat Venn would've liked. Far from disintegrating anybody, the flames had given maybe half of the mercs burns on their hands or faces; of those, many had dropped their blasters, and a few were rolling around in pain on the floor. The rest were mostly shooting at him. Kark.
Note to self: Burning Hands is a short-range technique. Dashing behind a stack of crates, Venn thought irately to himself (and not for the first time,) that the next time he saw his master he would ask for a lightsaber. Or where he could get one. Or how to build one. Really, any lead on the subject would've been just wizard.
