The Next Generation

Xavzen stood a small distance from the group, observing them. He nodded his head when he saw that the human had obviously completed the task but frowned slightly when Vespert failed to do so, only affecting the sand a little. He started forwards, ready to give advice but stopped almost immediately afterwards, collapsing gracefully into seiza instead.

"Testing to see how your students react to the situation of one being ahead of another, Master?" This though was broadcasted mentally through the Force towards his new Togruta master, shielded so that only she would receive it and not the two students. When he saw said Togruta turn slightly towards him he bowed his head slightly while crossing his left arm across his chest, his personal bow to those he respected. Lifting his head he then broadcasted, "Either way, I shall wait until you call me forwards Master." Before turning to watch what would happen between the two students.

Dagos’ pillar of sand fell back to the ground. He could feel Robbi’s frustration and he sympathized. Dagos closed his eyes and reached out to Robbi with the force, trying to lend him helping hand mentally. He tried to send waves of calm and stillness, in an attempt to reassure the tiny Palawan, that he could do it, he need only to believe. Wishing and hoping would not be enough, he needed to know he could do it, just as Master Ru and Dagos knew he could do it.

Dagos had some experience using the force to calm the aura of others, but not much, so there was every chance that he wasn’t helping at all.

(Sorry guys)

She had her eyes set on another, a young Zabrak make it seemed. She motioned for him to come over and join the others. Then she turned back around to put her attention back on her other students. Hmm...Robbi was a special case, if he didn't grasp this concept she would need to hold him back from the next exercise.

He needed to push himself to try, at least. She would wait to see if the others could assist him first. Her group training was to test and help develop their skills together. Perhaps he would need one on one lessons.

Before she put an end to this session she stood back and watched one final time.

"Calm yourself, Vespert. You are trying to hard without trying at all." Zavzen spoke out when he was closer to the group after bowing to [member="Sochi Ru"]. "You are hoping something will happen and are not making it happen," he continued as he walked closer before kneeling a few feet away from his fellow students. "Close your eyes and allow yourself to drift, do not aim not to think but allow each thought to flow through you. Reach out with your mind and allow your instincts to guide you. Focus on your senses, embrace the life around you. Focus on the Force. Then reach out a will the sand to lift on your command. Imagine each grain being lifted bit by bit. To not race to the end, do not focus on lifting a pillar of sand. Focus on reaching out to the Force and working with it to lift a small bit of sand. Do not hope to do it, do not wish to do it. Know you can do it when you embrace the Force. Try it." The whole time he was speaking Zavzen kept his voice level and calm. He only wished to guide his fellow student after all. He then followed his own instructions to prove what he said by reaching out with the Force to slowly lift the sand.

"Hello," Zavzen then said, addressing both of his fellow students this time, giving the introduction he had yet to give, "The name's Zavzen Sae'ryx. I'll be learning from Master Sochi along side you both."

(Ah, sorry for the wait guys.)

Robbi nearly jumped out of his skin as [member="Zavzen Sae'ryx"] appeared. He had been to busy trying to make sand do summersaults to notice his coming. The Vespert looked over at him as he spoke- and nearly jumped out of his skin again. He had horns! It was a human with horns! Robbi tried to listen to his suggestions, but only found himself staring at the large rhinocerous-like horn int eh middle of his forhead instead. He finally cleared his thoughts when he heard Zavzen introduce himself. "I'm Robbi!"

Zavzen chuckled slightly at the Vespert's enthusiasm, surprising himself when he did. "Pleasure to meet you Robbi." Zavzen smiled at him. Tilting his head slightly the pale zabrak then asked "Why don't you try and lift the sand again, this time using my suggestion? Do you want me to repeat myself so that it is clearer in your mind?" Before the vespert could reply, Zavzen turned his head to look at the human male and said: "I'm sorry, friend, you were helping him first, is there anything you would like to add?"

(we'll just move on, I think Mrrew might be busy)

"Alright, Lets play a little game shall we? she said taking a few steps back so there was plenty of space in front of her. Enough room for a duel that is.

"This game is called push feather, this will surely help you hone your telekinetic abilities. [member="Zavzen Sae'ryx"] and [member="Dagos Terrek"] you two will be pitted against each other. Now to the middle you two. she said pointing.

Your each others opponent. The purpose of this game is to solely develop your skills in the Force. No other weapons may be used, only your wit, and telekinesis. The goal is to push and redirect your opponents abilities with the intent of knocking them off balance. she said bowing to them both.

"Begin whenever your ready."

[member="Robbi"]

Zavzen walked over to where [member="Sochi Ru"] had indicated and bowed to [member="Dagos Terrek"] when they were opposite each other. When they were both ready he sent a small push towards Dagos's torso while at the same time he did the same thing that the human and [member="Robbi"] had been doing and pulled the sand up from beneath his feet.

(OOC: Please tell me if I have done this wrong)

“uh, no, that’s alright.” said Dagos sheepishly. He had never been a very good teacher. Things always had come so naturally to him, that it was hard for him to explain how to do something. More often than not, he just did it. But with something like the force, just showing wouldn’t be enough.

Dagos was glad his master had come and interrupt them, it was slightly embarrassing to admit he didn’t know how to help [member="Robbi"] . The interruption it turned out was more than a welcome distraction, it was a contest. Dagos spirits were instantly lifted, any chance he could get to compete was one he jumped at.

He took a spot near where [member="Sochi Ru"] indicated facing [member="Zavzen Sae'ryx"] . Returning the other Padawaan’s bow preparing himself for their little contest.

They stood across from each other for only a moment before the zabraki Padawaan went on the offensive. Dagos prior training came into play here as he deflected the force push away from his body. As he did he could feel the sand under his feet begin to shift, he widened his stance and sunk his hips so he could maintain his balance.

As the world under him shifted and slid, Dagos reached out with his right hand and sent a force push toward Zavzen’s chest, while with his left hand he pulled at his feet with the force. He was not sure how strong either attack would be because a lot of his concentration was being used on keeping his balance, which if his attack did not land, he may not be able to do much longer.

When Zavzen sensed the wave of Force coming towards him he stopped shifting the sand beneath the feet of [member="Dagos Terrek"] and focussed instead on counteracting the Force Push he sent, he was so focused on this that he almost missed the Force Pull on his legs. Feeling desperate he lashed out in the Force sending a strong push towards the human while once again shifting the sand and sending a very weak Force Pull on the back of his ankles. It was all done in the hopes of unbalancing Dagos before he himself was. In the end he believed that it would come down to who [member="Sochi Ru"] declared the winner of the competition.

[member="Robbi"]

The sand stopped shifting and for the barest of moments Dagos was sure he had won. The feeling was not long to last however as he was barely able to protect himself from a blast of force energy sent his way from the other Padawaan. He was in fact unable to block it wholly and was knock back just a tad while at the same time his feet were yanked out from underneath him. The next thing he knew he was sitting up spitting sand out of his mouth and laughing. It seemed Zavzen had used the same strategy Dagos had to what amounted to much greater success. Still, he felt he had shown some good moves of his own.

Zavzen sighed in relief when he saw his opponent on the ground, laughing, while he was still standing. Chuckling, the pale zabrak walked over to the downed human and held out a hand, offering to help him up. "You're good." He congratulated, "almost had me for a bit, friend. Good show. If you want to watch it from an outsiders point of view, tell me and I'll have HAELI send you a copy."

After he had pulled Dagos to his feat he backed up a bit before bowing to him before turning and bowing to Sochi.

(Ah, sorry guys. I got distracted with the invasion I was in on other characters, then the event, I forgot about this thread. Sorry again.)

It's amazing how tired you can get when trying to use the force for the first time... Even if you only managed to move a few grains of sand. Apperantly in Robbi's case, tired enough that while sitting on [member="Dagos Terrek"];s head, eyes scrunched shut and trying to move the sand, the little Vespert had fallen asleep. Though it was hard to tell the difference between Robbi trying to focus and sleeping. He'd even managed to stay sleeping on the top of Dago's head all the while while the others trained... until of course he was sent flying as the Padawan fell.

Robbi landed int he sand a few feet away, taking a moment to ctach his bearings before giving a sheepish glance in [member="Sochi Ru"]'s direction. Er... maybe she hadn't noticed?

Ru watched on as her students went toe to toe matching wits. It was a rather quick duel, possibly the quickest she had seen among students. But it was good to seem them getting to concept rather quickly. Though as much as this was training for them both, she hoped [member="Robbi"] was watching so that he could see a visual, at the conclusion of the duel she turned to her side to speak with the vespert.

Turns out he wasn't anywhere near her, but instead apart of the battle itself. Her eyes widened, and concerned took her face. She shook her head and let go a sigh of relief when he looked up at her. Just what was she to do with him?

She approached them both, "You two have done extremely well. Possibly the quickest grasp i've seen in a while though perhaps that is due to the training you both have received prior. This step was necessary for the next exercise we'll be having. You all will be working in a group, facing me." She said softly, motioning for Robbi to approach the group.

"This will be your first true test. Team work is vital as a Jedi, you have to be able to work with others. And you won't always have your Lightsabers handy to be used as a weapon. You all must outsmart and apprehend me."

[member="Zavzen Sae'ryx"] [member="Dagos Terrek"]

Zavzen reached out to grab Dagos by the shoulder and dragged him backwards, knowing that Robbi would follow. "We need to plan this out carefully, Master is a Master after all. We can't overpower her so we are going to have to follow what she said, we have to out manoeuvre her." As he was speaking Zavzen kept thinking back to the fight he had had with Krest when the older zabrak had decided to test him, trying to think of anything he had used then that would work now. He came up blank. "My current idea," he started slowly is: Robbi, you provide a distraction; Dagos, you focus on using the Force, maybe in the same way we did with each other; I'll focus on attacking." Zavzen stopped and stared at the two for a moment, "Remember we must work as a team so if you have any ideas put them forward now."

The Vespert listened carefully once again as [member="Sochi Ru"] gave out their next asignment. His eyes went wide when he actually heard what it was... They were supposed to fight her? How where they going to do that? He couln't even make sand move! The Vespert stared at Sochi for a moment, before quickly flying over to the other two who had already started planning. At least [member="Zavzen Sae'ryx"] had a plan... "Distract her?" Robbi frowned an dglanced in Sochi's direction, before continuing in a hushed voice. "How am I supposed to do that?"

(Sorry for the rushed post, I had a post written up and it got deleted... twice.)

[member="Robbi"] [member="Sochi Ru"] [member="Dagos Terrek"]

"I'm sure you can come up with something, friend." Zavzen said to answer Robbi's question, "But if you need ideas: fly around her head, drive bomb her, attempt to use the Force on her. And before you say anything about how you couldn't move the sand, when you use the Force in his fight, do not focus on what you have or have not done in you attempts, just focus on what you are trying to do, I believe that the adrenaline my help in this." Zavzen turned to the human of the group and asked, "Anything to add, or do you think we should start."

(Sorry if this is short, I'm stuck for ideas at the moment.)

[member="Zavzen Sae'ryx"] [member="Robbi"] [member="Sochi Ru"]

Dagos clapped Zavzen heartily on the shoulder and beamed at him. “It’s a great plan.”
Would it work? Who knew? Dagos was never one for strategizing. He much preferred to play things by ear, to trust his instincts. He would for now however go with the plan Zavzen had cooked up and if the situation called for it he would as he had always done fall back and wing it.
