Intent: A repeating ion disruptor in easy-'carry', semi-concealed form, as a prosthetic arm.
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: iBorg
Model: iBorg Nyax Arm Cannon
Affiliation: Open market
Modularity: With some refinement, hand unit may be switched out for future hand products.
Production: Minor production
Material: Durasteel, desh-terenthium
Classification: Ion disruptor
Size: Requires arm up to just below the shoulder. Implanted spinal support recommended.
Length: Comparable to an arm.
Weight: Comparable to a bulky prosthetic arm.
Ammunition Type: Energy cell
Ammunition Capacity: 40 shots
Effective Range: Personal. Even with advanced targeting gear, the Nyax is a relatively short-ranged weapon, incapable of the precise long-range shots of stabilized long-barrel disruptors. In accuracy, it is best compared to a pistol, shotgun or submachine gun, though the shot does keep going as far as a classic disruptor blast (several hundred metres).
Rate of Fire: Single-shot, charged shot, three-shot burst, or fully automatic. Automatic fire exhausts 40-shot energy cell clip in four seconds. Charged shot exhausts energy clip in 8 shots. Disintegration not possible; see below.
Special Features:
- Like all ion disruptors, the Nyax is capable of causing disruptor-grade physical damage along with ion-blaster-grade electronic damage.
- From concealment as a normal droid-like prosthetic arm, it can deploy and fire in four seconds.
- Reloads/plugs in via energy cell clip socket near the elbow, easily managed with the opposite hand.
- Available in left or right versions, with hand and proportion flexibility to match a variety of species.
Targeting functions are entirely manual, unless advanced targeting implants are used. Even with advanced targeting gear, the Nyax is a relatively short-ranged weapon, incapable of the precise long-range shots of stabilized long-barrel disruptors.
A reiteration of iBorg's writer's OOC stance on disruptors, as a notice for customers: Do not push for disintegrations. Targets' writers have the right to take a glancing blow and not disintegrate, etc. To make this easier to remember, a Nyax Arm Cannon will not disintegrate its targets, even with repeated charged shots. This makes it less powerful than standard disruptors.
