The obligations of a Jedi.

As Kixi fell in and out of consciousness, everything seemed to be happening fast. One moment she was in her master's arms, the next he was gracefully carrying her, moving at tremendous speeds assisted by the Force. As they reached the surface and consequently the ship, Braj'tec could be seen running out with his blaster firing past George. Someone had given them chase, but he had soon ended that. He could be heard yelling in his comm unit for Kes to take off the moment the three were on board without any further delays.

Kixi woke up fully in the medical compartment of the ship. The ship shuddered violently as she slowly and weakly got up. Braj'tec was in there with her. Using several small advanced regenerating devices, he was able to close the insides of Kixi's wound by regenerating tissue, muscles and nerves. However the outside was still open despite it not bleeding, and Kixi was weak, probably at half strength due to the amount of blood she had lost. She would no doubt need an infusion after they got out of the mess they were currently in, as the ship continued to shudder with the lights constantly flickering in and out. Kes who was piloting the ship was the same blood type as Kixi, and would be the one who later would administer her own blood to Kixi with an infusion. However right at that moment, they were undoubtedly in trouble. Against Braj'tec's advise she slowly made her way to the bridge, while Braj'tec ran to the engine room where the hyperdrive was. He needed to make some small repairs to get it to engage as the ship was taking a pounding. They would need to be working soon, otherwise they would become Bantha Fodder Kixi quickly realised, as she reached the bridge and took a seat behind Kes the pilot and George who was sitting in the co-pilot's chair. She slumped herself on the seat clearly weak and not well. Just as she did, several more Sith Fighters appeared dead ahead.

"Our situation has not improved."

Kixi said in a weak voice. However Kes and George were already on it. They just needed a couple of extra minutes for Braj'tec to get the hyperdrive back online as Kes frantically worked on the ship's controls. Yet would they survive long enough for that to happen.

"George, this is Braj`tec, we encountered resistance, we are almost there." George heard back through the coms. He was displeased with this news. George continued for the surface, exiting the city there was a short swim up to where the ship had landed. However on their departure of the city, they picked up some unwanted guests. "Braj`tec, we are coming in hot. I repeat we're coming in hot. Need cover fire now!" George shouted through his coms once again, the urgency could easily be heard in his voice.

George looked at the surface and back at Kixi. "We're almost there Kixi, we're almost there. Hold on." He whispered gently. She couldn't die here, she had Nena, all George heard was about Nena. George was persistent that she would not die here.

As they made it to the surface Braj`tec was there to assist them. Firing at the chasers and helping the pair of them onto the ship. The second they were aboard it took off. Kes we quick and agile but not enough. The ship was getting homed in on and taking heavy hits. The lights in the ship flickered consistantly as Braj`tec and George took Kixi to the Med bay. "She's got a laceration to her hip. Its not too deep, but she's lost a lot of blood. I can't do much right now, I am exhausted." George said to Braj`tec as they hoisted Kixi up onto a table. Braj`tec nodded and got to work. George quickly headed up to the cockpit to help Kes.

George took control of one of the ships turrets and tried to hold off the attacking fighters. "This thing really wasn't made for fighting was it." George commented as he fired at the incoming ships. "No not really..." Kes replied, without taking her eyes off the track. She was one hundred percent concentrated on flying, well thats how George took it. She had been funny with him. But wasn't exactly sure why. George continued firing at the enemy ships as they came in range. But only doing small amounts of damage, they needed the hyperdrive and fast.

Kixi watched helplessly as both George and Kes took to the controls. Yet something felt funny. It was those Sith Fighters. They didn't seem to be fully committed. In fact as Kes went to manoeuvre and dodge incoming fire it seemed more apparent, well at least to Kixi, that they would have missed anyway.

Braj'tec's voice could be heard yelling over the comm unit.

"Try it now, making the jump to hyperspace."

Kes of course didn't hesitate in doing so. Just as several missiles came hurling in at them, which again appeared to be on a vector that would skim right past them.What the? Kixi would say to herself as the star lines become suddenly blurred and Mandalorian ship jumped into hyperspace. They were safe. Yet Kixi felt like she was going to faint.

"Kes, I've lost a lot of blood. You need to give me some of yours. Let's go to the med room now."

As she quickly got up from her seat, suddenly her head began to spin. She tried to grab onto something but to no avail. Kixi fell to the floor with a loud thud and lay there unconscious. Kes got up abs knelt down before her and touched her on the side of her neck.

"She's out cold. Literally. If I don't give her blood, she will die."

Inside Kes could've help but be amused. She felt like snapping Kixi's neck and killing her while she was vulnerable. Kes then turned Kixi around so she was laying flat on her back. Then she grabbed her by the legs and started dragging her along the floor and pulled her body along by the legs, to the shock of George. Kes was deliberately being very rough with the delicate and weak Kixi.

"She's too heavy for me to carry. Unless you carry her George, then this is the only way I'm taking her to the med room."

Of course Kes knew that George would have carried Kixi from the beginning, but just wanted to be rough with her and hurt her a bit more while she could and get away with it.

As the battled raged on the force seemed to be with George and the crew. The ship managed to hold up and Braj`tec managed to get the hyperdrive back online. Once Braj`tec gave the signal Kes kicked it and they were out of there.

By this time Kixi had joined them in the cockpit, against the wishes of almost everyone on board. She was weak and she needed time to relax and re cooperate. But that was not Kixi's way. She wanted to be back in the game straight away. However she knew this time it was time to do something about it. She needed blood and quickly. George was informed that Kes was of the same blood type as Kixi, a blessing. As Kixi asked Kes to join her in the Med bay for the blood transfusion she got up from her chair, took a few steps and collapsed. Kes was first to her, and George wasn't far behind. Kes was right that they needed to move quickly, but rough? That wasn't the answer. Kes grabbed her feet and began tugging on the unconscious woman. "Wow Kes, no need to be so rough. I got it." He said as he quickly moved over to Kixi and knelt down beside her taking her in his arms.

Quickly they moved into the Med bay. "I take it you guys have done this once or maybe twice before then?" As George had placed Kixi on a bed and Kes had taken a seat on another. It was time and it couldn't have came any sooner. Kixi was about to get the blood so desperately needed.

As Kixi was placed on the med bay bed and Kes sat beside her, Braj'tec would do the necessities to perform a blood transfusion. He was tampering with some high quality devices that would perform the task in a relatively quick time. He prepared Kixi first who lay motionless on the bed. He inserted some tubes into the main artery of her forearm. The device looked strange with all its other gizmos and readouts attached to it. He then motioned Kes to allow him to insert the other half of the tube into her forearm. Kes nodded in acceptance, although inside she was reluctant. She couldn't care less if Kixi were to die. If she could get away with it, she would do the deed herself. Several minutes would pass as the small device connected to the two women did its work. Once they were done, Braj'tec would disconnect the device from both of them and check up on the two of them.

"Okay Kes you are done. Thanks. I'm sure Kixi will thank you later too when she is in a better state."

He checked Kixi a bit more throughly and once done was satisfied.

"Okay she needs some rest time. However she will make a full recovery. Her actual wound is not deep, but nonetheless will need to be looked at properly once we return to the Ueshiba. Once that is done she can return with you to Voss George."

Soon after, Braj'tec would leave the room to do proper checks on the ship and the necessary repairs. Kes would also leave to go rest herself since she had now given a lot of blood to Kixi and felt weak. As they left, Kixi began to move and slowly wake up.

"Master where am I, where is everyone, where is little sweet Nena?"

Kixi was clearly out of it, but felt the warmth and comfort she needed being close to her master.

In the meantime Kes would sneak into Kixi's quarters and pull out Kixi's long distance communication device to contact Kajtia, her imperial spy. Clearly not happy at the situation, however Kajtia would explain.

"I told them not to attack you, but you can't trust the word of the Sith or the Imperials for that matter. However I was able to convince them later to allow your ship to escape from Glee."

Kes would reply with a slight sigh of frustration.

"Yes those Sith are dirty and cannot be trusted. However I could tell that our escape was too easy. Hopefully the two Jedi couldn't."

Kes would exchange a few more words with Kajtia before finally ending the transmission. In the end she couldn't complain. Nena's parents were killed by her own treachery and she had made it out in one piece. As a bonus she also got to see Kixi get hurt. Something that always brought her pleasure and satisfaction from within.

As Braj`tec made the preparation for transfusion George sat beside Kixi. George himself was quite drained, after carrying Kixi around the streets of Glee and then the battle to get out of the system it took its toll. But he didn't want to leave her side, not just yet. After the procedure Braj`tec and Kes left the room, leaving Kixi laying on the table and George sitting in a chair beside her. He wanted to rest, but wanted to make sure she would alright. Just as he was about to rest his head on the table Kixi woke up. Seeming lost and a little confused George had to settle her. "Hey, hey you're alright. We're on Kes' ship. You were hit on the hip and you lost a lot of blood, but Kes donated some. Nena is at home on Voss. We'll be there soon. Just relax and rest up. I'll be right here." He said calmingly. The exhaustion was written all over his face but it he was happy to see Kixi awake again.

"Help me up, or at least help me sit up right. Don't worry I won't get off this bed and will rest."

George did exactly that as Kixi sat upright on the bed, rubbing her eyes and then the back of her head.

"I had a weird dream. Like Kes, she was trying to kill me. In fact she was bashing me up with a baton and then grabbed my head and slit my throat. I then woke up."

Kixi shook her head and then momentarily put both her hands on her face covering her eyes, and then removed them from her face.

"I guess it was just a meaningless dream. She after all gave me blood. I don't know if I could've made it back to either the Ueshiba or Voss otherwise. I will personally thank her later."

Kixi's face suddenly turned to one of seriousness and concern.

"Master I don't know if I was fantasising when you and Kes were trying to get us away from Glee, but those Sith Fighters, they seemed as if they were not really trying to get us. They seemed to be missing easy shots, that's unless Kes was flying exceptionally well. However I'm not too convinced. I know it sounds crazy, but I think they let us escape. If this is so, why?

[member="Kixi Rajki"]

Kixi as normal was straight back to it. George helped her sit upright as she explained the nightmares she had whilst unconscious. "Must have had something to do with the blood transfusion. Maybe Kes' thoughts and such may have induced it? Not saying that is exactly what she was thinking. But your mind and with hers, could make some scary conclusions." George had a feeling there was more to the dream than Kixi let on. But it was not the time to bring it up.

Kixi moved on to the flight out of Glee, Kixi though that the Sith had ample opporutnity to destroy them, but managed to miss every shot. Something George too noticed slightly. "I did notice that. For the amount of Sith fighters that had us surrounded we surly must have been destroyed, if not captured. For some unknown reason to us the Sith didn't want to kill us, nor capture us. It must have been a ploy to make it seem like they wanted us dead. But I don't know." Kixi had brought up an interesting point. Something down the track that should be investigated.

Kixi looked at her master in shock and immediately jumped to Kes' defence.

"Kes really want to kill me? Oh cammon now. I saved her life back on her home world. I'm the only person who actually cares for her and does things for her that no one else would. Well for free anyway. I admit she can be a little rough at times and even rude to me, but that's just her stubborn nature and unfortunate upbringing. I think you're jumping to conclusions Master."

Kixi would finish saying, her voice still soft and weak sounding.

"I would like to rest for the rest of the journey back to recover my strength, but I can't. Something is bothering me and I can't shake it off."

Kixi paused and took in a long deep breath.

"Master someone compromised our mission. I don't know who, but the Sith knew we were coming. They tried to kill us on the planet, yet when we escaped on the ship, suddenly they pretended to be trying to kill us, but really allowed us to escape. Why?"

Again Kixi paused and took in a deep breath before answering her own question.

"The only thing I can think of is that once we were on the ship, that there was or is someone or something they didn't want dead. But who? Other than us, there are just Braj'tec and Kes onboard. I trust Braj'tec like you Master. Although a non Force sensitive, before I met you, he had mentored me a lot. And Kes, I already told you how it cannot possibly be her. So what could it be? Unless one of those two are deceiving me, or unless there is something else on this ship of value to them, then I don't know. What I do know is that something is not quite right. What are your thoughts on this matter Master?"

[member="Kixi Rajki"]

"Calm down Kixi, I am not accusing Kes of anything. I am saying that you may have used her memories and substituted yourself into one of Kes' situations." George quickly replied extending his arms trying to calm Kixi. He meant no offence, he simply knew of Kes' past and though her memories mixed with Kixi's could have brought the dream on. But then Kixi said something that George loved to hear. She wanted rest. Hallelujah. George though before Kixi could finish. She was bothered and thus left her stuck.

"Now that I agree with. You and myself were hidden from the Sith, Braj`tec and Kes are non force users, so they couldn't have picked us up through them. Something or someone informed them of mission. Either someone on this ship. Or this ship has been compromised as well. Someone could have slipped a mic into the briefing room." George had little idea of where the leaked Intel came from so at this stage George could only speculate.

"I think we need to do a sweep of the ship soon. There might be a tracker or some device that we don't want aboard. It could lead the Sith right to us. But I am not sure why... It will only lead them to a place they knew where we are..." George may have been onto something, but he had his doubts about this scenario.

Kixi placed her hand under her chin as she thought about what George had just said.

"That's not impossible, however it lacks no purpose. A tracking device on this ship would lead them to Voss which they already know we are situated there. Or in the case of reality back to the Ueshiba, which may or may not hold any relevance to them. Umm although this ship originated from the Ueshiba. If it has been bugged, then it would have been tampered with on the Ueshiba meaning that whoever did it is part of my crew. Although again I can't think of any names. Or maybe when Kes flew the ship elsewhere it may have been tampered with there? We might have to check the logs of this ship to see where it has been and furthermore compare it to the logs on the Ueshiba to see if it also matches the logs there. Kes and all crew members are required to inform me or the commanding officer present of all their whereabouts unless they are on leave of absence. Kes wasn't on any official leave from my knowledge, however I can check this with Mako. However if the sweep comes back negative, all that might be a pointless waste of time?"

Completely clueless on the matter she did end up saying something worthwhile doing before accusing anyone of espionage.

"First we should sweep this ship of any bugs. Unless it comes back positive, then that would rule out someone on the Ueshiba, or elsewhere where this ship has been putting a bug on it. Which would of course leave us further clueless on the matter at hand. Oh and I believe it's best to keep this to ourselves."

Kixi would then lay back down on the bed, putting her head on the pillow and closing her eyes as she continued to speak.

"We are less than a day from the Ueshiba. We both need some rest, me more than you Master. Go get some if you need it. If you get some time, see if you can do a preliminary sweep of this ship without making it obvious to the other two."

As she finished her sentence, she turned her head to the side and actually fell asleep. Very surprising it initially seemed to her master, however quite normal given all she had gone through.

[member="George O Rourke"]

[member="Kixi Rajki"]

The thought of someone of Kixi's crew sabotaging the ship was doubtful, but it was something to consider. However without proof there would be nothing but speculation, and if the ship came back with no bugs, there would be even more problems and they would be back to square one. "Yes that seems like a good starting point, hopefully we can begin to unravel this mystery." George replied.

"Yes you need some rest, I do as well. We'll do the sweep together. You know the ship better than myself and would make it easier if you were conducting a sweep on your own ship." Just as George finished his sentence Kixi was out, like a light. However it was understandable given her injuries.

George made his way to his quarters, getting undressed and placing his robes on the table. He was exhausted and was out before his head hit the pillow.

Just under 20 hours later, Kixi was awoken by Braj'tec. She rubbed her eyes as her eyes slowly adjusted to the light. She had been asleep for that long.

"Captain sorry to wake you, but we are about 10 minutes away from docking with Ueshiba."

Kixi looked up at the warrior. She looked like a train wreck, yet she felt stronger even if nowhere nearly close to have made a full recovery. The 20 hours of sleep did do its world of wonders. Braj'tec would ask if she was okay and Kixi would affirm that she was. As he left the room she quickly washed her face and put her boots on. She was still wearing the same clothes as before, which was full of her own flood stains. She would change into something else before leaving the Ueshiba for Voss. She made her way to where the rest of the crew was, just as Kes had landed the ship in the Ueshiba's hangar bay and the boarding ramp lowered. The four would then exit the ship with other crew members including Mako awaiting them. Mako ran up to Kixi and wrapped herself around her in a body hug.

"Kixi you're hurt. Are you alright?"

Mako asked, her voice one of concern.

"Yes I sustained some injuries in combat, but I'm recovering quite quickly. Please don't stress love, I will be okay."

Mako held Kixi in her arms for at least another minute and then finally let go. Kixi would then order a lock down of Kes' vessel for a security screening. She would justify it as simply having to do so given they had had the ship stationary and unoccupied for some time while in enemy territory. A good call as it didn't cause any suspicion amongst anyone who may have in fact really committed sabotage. She also got the logs from Kes' ship and handed them to Mako for further analysis. Of course everything was kept tight lipped between Kixi, George and Mako. An entire day had passed and the sweep came back negative, and the ship logs from Kes' ship returned nothing of suspicion. Everything was clean and to Kixi's utter frustration.

"Master this makes no sense. If the Sith or Imperials were told of our mission to Glee, then it doesn't appear to be from anyone or thing here. Yet how can it be?"

Just as Kixi spoke her frustrating words, Mako rushed into the room that both George and Kixi were conversing in.

"Captain, we found the culprit! Ensign Zednik sent several long range transmissions using one of our long range Sajnen comm units. We have it all here."

Kixi took the comms unit from Mako and analysed the data logs. The name of the imperial informant had been erased. Yet the record of the transmissions made were all there.

"He's our man. Call security to detain him now!"

Kixi demanded and Mako complied accordingly. However it was all too late. As Kixi, George and Mako arrived at Ensign Zednik's quarters, accompanied by a security team, they found the ensign slumped to the ground and dead. Not long later, after careful examination, it was determined that he had committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. This would close the case, however not known to anyone was the reality that Ensign Zednik was innocent. Selected by Kes at random to be framed for the treachery she had committed. Kes had suspected that the Jedi were onto the matter of having been compromised and had needed to cover her own tracks. Which she did so successfully.

The following day both George and Kixi would bid farewell to the crew of the Ueshiba and make their way back to Voss. The trip would be short but Kixi was still not fully satisfied.

"We caught the perpetrator, however what had made him want to commit such an act of treason? I guess he probably killed himself so we could never know."

Kixi would shake her head in sadness.

"I can't fathom any reasons but that's life I guess. Now Master you wanted to discuss something with me about how I conducted myself during the mission. To be specific, when I allowed Kes to slay that Sith who wouldn't speak up. Well it's just us two now so I guess now is as good a time as any"

Time had passed and George was woken by Bracj`tec who was to inform George that they were nearly at their destination. He rolled out of bed and stretched, yawning as he slowly awoken properly. He quickly got back into his robes and cleared his quarters of the few items he had brought along for this mission. His lightsabers were attached to his belt and he was ready to leave.

As they gathered by the exit ramp the ship docked and the ramp lowered, they were greeted by the rest of Kixi's crew, including Mako, Kixi's lover. Traditionally this would be a big no no for the Jedi, but the Silver Jedi weren't too harsh on attachments. After all the Grandmaster is married to the Master of the Order... Anyhow for the next 24 hours Kes's ship went under heavy security checks which surprisingly came up clean. Just as the situation seemed lost, information was found, point them to the perpetrator. On arrival to his room it was discovered that he had shot himself in the head, ending his life before interrogation. Something George didn't want to see.

With the security leak seemly resolved it was time to head back to Voss and with that Kixi and George were once again alone to discuss the mission. "Death is better than interrogation apparently." George replied, the situation ended with minimal answers, causing Kixi to have more questions. However she thought it would be the best time to discuss the in George's mind a lapse in concentration on Kixi behalf. "Ahh yes that." He replied looking straight at Kixi. "That was wrong Kixi. I understand the bloodlust of Kes and I know he is a Sith through and through. But we can't go around executing all the Sith we find. He was unarmed, he had nothing." George finished looking away as he thought about the situation once more. "But in the end there weren't many options. We were trapped in the city with no back up and a prisoner would only slow us down. In haste you made a decision, for the benefit of the mission. That I can't deny." George as much as he believed Kixi was wrong in her actions, he understood the situation and that choices had to be made.

Kixi nodded to George in acknowledgment regarding the mission and the slaying of the Sith and decided that now was the time to steer away from the topic a little. Something soothing was needed. She knew just what to talk about.

"We're almost at Voss. After we debrief the council of our mission, we should go see Nena. I need to calm and relax my body and soul from all these constant battles. Whilst Mako is generally the answer to all that, for me anyway, right now, spending some quality time with baby Nena will do me a world of joy."

Kixi would smile at George as she spoke and infact almost appear as a totally new and different person. See seemed happy when talk of the baby was mentioned and seemed like a very young innocent girl herself.

[member="George O Rourke"]

[member="Kixi Rajki"]

Kixi acknowledged George's perspective but decided to move on to something lighter than dwell on the Sith. The first thing that came to her mind was Nena, a mutual mood booster. George too was excited to get back to Nena as he had left her alone only days after bring her back to Voss. Something he knew he would have to do, but not really enjoying it.

"Yes, we'll see Nena straight away. I can't wait to see her either. Atleast something good will come out of these missions to Glee. We saved a baby from within enemy lines. It kills me that we couldn't save her parents as well." George tried to bring up the positives, but at this time there were so many negatives it was hard not to bring them up.

He couldn't get over one thing though. How was he going to tell Nena her parents died partly due to their actions. When would be a good time? He didn't want Nena to be pushed away, if anything he wanted to protect Nena from everything... It wasn't going to be easy for the pair of them over the next few years.

It wasn't long after when both Jedi finally arrived on Voss. Kixi had freshened herself up as did George on their extra few days stay on the Ueshiba. Yet despite the ship's advanced medical facilities, Kixi who had been healed of her injuries sustained by the Sith on Glee, still felt some soreness in her lower hip area. Some things would simply just have to take time to heal.

The two Jedi would promptly inform the Jedi Council of the mission. Something Kixi didn't really look forward to. She made it clear to them that she felt guilty and responsible for the death of Nena's parents. This was primarily due to the fact that the perpetrator responsible had been a part of her crew. Once all formalities had been done, Kixi was relieved to finally get out from the council room and go see how the baby was doing.

The two Jedi finally got to Nena. An older Jedi woman had been caring for her. Nena was awake, just laying peacefully in her cot. Kixi then picked her up and held her in her arms. Nena remembered Kixi without any doubt. She smiled in her arms and cooed while Kixi slowly rocked her up and down.

"She is cute and she remembers us."

The two Jedi would spend several hours with Nena before finally leaving.

"So what next with Nena Master? She's too young to understand yet about what happened to her parents. Yet I feel it's my fault. When she is old enough to learn of their fate, she must be told the whole truth. If she thinks differently of me as a result, then be it. However the truth must never be withheld from her in anyway."

[member="George O Rourke"]

[member="Kixi Rajki"]

On their arrival back on Voss it was time to brief the rest of the Assembly on the outcome of the mission, and Kixi's choices. As George held a position within the Assembly council Kixi was to speak throughout the most of it and provide the debrief. After a short debriefing the Assembly was adjourned and both Kixi and George headed back to where Nena was staying with one of the elders.

As Kixi entered and picked Nena up George was close behind. All of their faces lit up like the sun at the sight of the small Nautolan. "Yes she is cute isn't she. I am sure its just your face Kixi. Its unforgettable." George said with a little laugh as he watched Kixi rock her back and forth. "As for the truth, there will be a time when she understands and at this time we will both tell her. As we both set this in motion. But for now we must just give her our love and affection." George said as he placed his hand on Nena's head rubbing it back and forth. He was lucky to have such a cute baby in Nena.

And so it would be written, and so it would be done, Nena Ka, officially adopted by the Jedi Knight George O Rourke as her official caretaker. Kixi would also play a pivotal role in her life and upbringing. Although human, Kixi would be close to Nena and be like the aunt she never had. Well as far as knowledge was concerned anyway. When Nena was indeed old enough, the truth of what happened to her parents would be told. However until that time, she would grow up in the Jedi temple, and when George or Kixi were not there, due to Jedi business and other reasons, the Elders would attend to her. She would train and walk the path of the Jedi until such time that she wanted to either continue down that path or choose not to become a Jedi. Inevitably the choice would be Nena's in the end.
