- It is a wooden staff. It is practically useless.
The Old Republic's Speaker's Staff is a wooden scepter that belonged to the Speaker (or the Vice Chair of the Senate) in the pre-Galactic Empire Senate. It was often used to demonstrate authority over the Senate. Its wooden part is carved with lines running down the staff while the figure on top of the scepter is made of gold and portrays Sistros, one of the Four Sages of Dwartii. The last owner of the staff was Mas Amedda, the Speaker of the Senate and later the Grand Vizier of the Imperial Senate. The staff went missing after the dissolution of the Imperial Senate.
It is known that the Speaker's Staff new Galactic Republics have used is not the same staff as this one.
Geneva, having heard of the staff and its symbolic powers, set up a system of intelligence agents who would help her locate the staff. Finally, after searching for it for months, the staff was found on the planet of Kinyen, where it was already in the hands of the Intelligence Agency of M'haeli.
The staff holds no other meaning than to demonstrate the authority and the power of its wielder. It could be used as a weapon, but since it's made of wood, it would be pretty useless in battle. It is not alchemically enhanced -- only a wooden staff.
