SPECIAL FEATURES
The Rebirth was equipped to act as a fleet repair station, as well as serving its primary purpose as a self-sustaining space station. Thusly, The Rebirth is capable of acting as a refuel and refit platform for a fleet as well as a base of operations. While the repair and rearmament equipment itself is fully automated and powered infinitely by an ionization core, a sentient crew is still needed to maintain the equipment. Suffice it to say that these systems must also be provided with the relevant material and ordinance to complete their duties. The ability to repair vessels means nothing, however, without proper protection for the vessels whilst they are being worked on. This is why the repair docking bays are protected by heavy quadanium blast doors that open only to allow access to the bays.
The bay itself lacks artificial gravity and instead uses tractor beam projectors to lead vessels into place and then hold them there during repairs, later assisting the crew in easily drifting it back into space. In order to protect the station from incursion, the bays are sealed off from the surface of the station as well as the internal workings of the craft. Instead, the crews of ships docked into the repair bays are expected to remain on the vessel during repairs or disembark on the surface after having gone through extensive screenings if need-be. In the event that the ship is in need of rearmament or resupply, a maintenance crew in zero-g vacuum suits bring in supplies from the surface of the craft and provide the automated systems with the supplies ahead of any scheduled dockings.
Much like the surface of Coruscant, The Rebirth is covered in cityscape and imported terrain. Across the surface of The Rebirth you will find urban environments sprawling across valleys and forests; most of which are military bases. Thanks to this biome, The Rebirth is capable of sustaining a population indefinitely as it can produce its own food, oxygen and water, the latter of which is accomplished through water filtration and sanitization. This allows the station to feed, house and accommodate the thousands of possible combat-ready defenders as well as station personnel and other passengers.
The surface of the station is dotted with point-defense systems, quadlasers and flak cannons; most of which are retractable into the surface but are constantly scanning with active sensors arrays. The advanced sensors suite utilized by the station includes: Dedicated Energy Receptors
Hyperwave Signals Interceptors
Electro Photo Receptors
Aural Sensors
Doppraymagno Scanners
Com-scanners
Other systems include lifeform scanners and facial recognition programs that constantly check the DNA signatures and recorded facial recognitions against every known crewman and temporary visitor on the vessel to ensure optimal security. In the event of invasion, the cityscapes are dotted with bunkers and military complexes to serve as military hard points.
Strengths:
- The Rebirth is a station capable of complete self-sustaining itself in the void of space through the use of its vegetated surface
- The Rebirth is capable of repairing and rearming capital ships as well as fighter class vessels
- The Rebirth is able to maintain a combat-ready defense force of 1,000,000 men for a decade before military supplies run low
- The Rebirth can sustain a total population of 2,500,000 personnel, not including those stationed on docked capital ships
- The Rebirth is heavily defended against fighter and landing ship attack thanks to its complement of anti-air weaponry, as well as the complex bunker system throughout the surface.
- The Rebirth is heavily automated, requiring almost zero sentient contact to be utilized.
- The Rebirth is incapable of defending itself in a full engagement against capital vessels and would quickly fall to sustained fire if not supported by a fleet. While fighters and transports would have a hard time breaching its surface, The Rebirth is simply not equipped to be a battle station.
- The biomes on The Rebirth are not naturally occurring. If they are damaged during battle, extensive repair operations would need to be undertaken and planets mined in order to recover what was lost.
- Slow maneuverability and speeds are an unfortunate side-effect of being a non-combat oriented military station and it is impossible for the vessel to escape without the use of its hyperdrive.
- In order to make repairs on vessels, The Rebirth needs a reliable source of building material.
The Rebirth has a rich history in the Galactic Empire and its successor, The Empire Reborn. After its capture by the New Republic, it was studied and later forgotten. Since then, the ship has presumably been floating through the void of space awaiting the day its inheritors find it...
