The Red Hospital

Dealer's choice? But she thought that Judah was paying. At any rate, Kay picked out a little luncheon spot that she hadn't been to before, but it soon became one of her favourites.

During the weeks that passed, she was glad to see Judah look a little more refreshed. He still seemed overworked and stressed though. Perhaps when the hospital was opened....

Kay stood in front of the main doors to the new hospital. It was a ribbon cutting ceremony, so a vast array of media outlets from Commenor and the nearest worlds were there. She stood at the podium and finished her speech; "....With this hospital, we shall see the Red Ravens in a new light as they begin a new chapter in their history. One full of hope, of healing and concern for the well being of others. Let us show them the Commenori spirit of forgiveness and acceptance. Thank you."

She applauded with the rest of the crowd and smiled at Judah, awaiting him to cut the ribbon and/or to make a speech.

"For far too long the Red Ravens flew high, sight unseen by the common people. Now all that will change, today we walk among you. By open the doors of this facility we open our hearts and mind, we become closer as a people. No longer surrounded in shadows, we spread our wings and take flight. Welcome brothers and sisters to the dawn of a new day." Cutting the ribbon he paused for photo opprtunities with [member="Lady Kay"] and the rest of her staff before the tour of the facilities would begin.

Kay smiled and applauded with the others. Though she was not entirely sure that everyone approved. It was still a step forward. And the newer hospital plus equipment were needed. It was a joint effort.

With her hands clasped in front of her, she walked through the new building, along with the various media and dignitaries that wished for the grand tour. Kay leaned towards Judah as she whispered to him, "Nice speech. It seemed to have been received well."

The 22 story high glass and steel structure was enough to take the breath away. Leading [member="Lady Kay"] and other dignitaries as well as the media, they explored the state of the art facilities which included a multi pod bacta suite for burn victims, a fully stocked surgical wing, a null grav physic therapy clinic, as well as diagnostics facilities. There were no wards, instead each patient was give a fully aircondition suite with a large plasma screen, as well other amenities not common in a general hospital.

Special emphasis was made to indicate that this would be a teaching hospital. Specialists would be brought over to facilitate a transfer of knowledge to the local populance, an announcement which was greeted with much applause.

There was even an entertainment lounge where in true Red Raven fashion people could eat good food, catch a show or play some games of chance.

At the end of the tour each of the guests were given Lucky Red Pokua (Good Fortune) envelopes with cred sticks which would allow them to tryvyhe various games of chance available.

His duties now done, a bottle of expensive champange was delivered to their table where he pour them drinks and proposed a toast, "To the start of beautiful relationship between our people."

Kay was in awe of the state-of-the-art facility. Such detail and attention was given for each of the patients that the hospital would have in it's care. It just seemed too good to be true. If this one worked out well, then there would have to be more built elsewhere on the planet.

She took one of the envelopes out of politeness, but wasn't much of a gambler. Instead she would just hold onto it for a while and then maybe give it to one of her friends.

As the champagne was poured and the toast given, Kay raised her own glass "To friendship.." And then she had a sip, not much of one as she wasn't really a fan of champagne, but a bit nonetheless.

When things quieted down a bit, she pulled Judah aside. "Well if this doesn't give a boost to the Red Raven's image, nothing will. I hope that they keep going in this direction."

"A lot is riding on this working out. To be honest, this is the biggest investment the Ravens have been involved. There have been grumbling that we moved too fast but Daxton Bane has much faith in this."

The truth of the matter was the Sith had so many illegal operations through his network that he needed a way to make the money clean. What better way of laundering the funds through a legitate world economy. Not just here but on other worlds as well on different scales that it was enough to baffle the mind.

"By the way, we would like to ask for official permission to run a pod race through the capital during the inauguration of our embassy. We will offer the purse as well as any reasonable insurance against possible accidents. We wohld consider this a media coup and any revenue would be used for future joint projects. What do you think?"

She nodded. [member="Daxton Bane"] was smart and hopefully everything was as it seemed. She didn't like being played. No one does. But it wouldn't be the first time.

Kay raised a brow slightly at the request. "A podrace in Chasin City? I don't think such an event has happened before. Let's talk it over with the city engineers and see if it can be done." She was already going through the route in her mind, with some part of it going through the city, and the other going across the valley and into the canyon that she liked to ride her speederbike through to the ocean. That should prove a challenging and entertaining ride. "In principle, you have my permission. We'll just have to hammer out all of the details. Perhaps tomorrow we could convene with a few of the Ministers?"

"Excellent. I will have our best people come up a proposal for the areas to be used as well work out the requirements on our end. Should you have any concerns please feel to express them so that we can address them."

[member="Daxton Bane"] would probably have guessed at what some of her concerns would be. "We'll need barriers of course, not only to protect the bystanders, but to protect the buildings as well. The pods and podracers would need to be checked, as well as the route. If someone wanted to assassinate or terrorize people, a special event like that would be a big draw." This would be good practice for the new recruits in the Commenori military to test themselves.

"We have large tents that could be used to house the ceremony and celebrations into the evenings after the race. I can arrange many media outlets to be there. Commenor might not be known to many, but podracing is a big draw that many here could benefit from."

"On matters of security we will defer to the local authorities. We are considering using part of the city as well as the surrounding countryside to highlight what your planet has to offer. As we expect a certain level of rowdiness we will provide medical and technical support should accidents occur, if this is acceptable."

Kay nodded with a smile. "Agreed. That sounds wonderful, actually. Just what I was thinking. And when would you like this to take place? We would need a few weeks to prepare and reroute traffic, compensate the businesses that will have to be closed during those days, and mark the route."
