Keres I
Omega Pyre FLEETCOM Task Force Rancor
Approaching the derelict Alliance Relief Flotilla

When Noah heard the General come over the comm line he immediately had a tech patch him in. "General Poof, this is Colonel Noah Corek of the Omega Pyre. My techs we're thinking the same thing as you. I'd suggest you sit tight in the hangar we still have a small part of the Task Force missing. A pair of Herald-class Assault Cruisers had to hang back on Fondor to gather the men and armor to fill them up to a adequate quality." After Noah said this the aforementioned cruisers came out of hyperspace. "Ah speak of the devil." Noah said, though the irony of that phrase and what Major [member="Gideon Raith"] was experiencing down on the planet was lost on him.

"Sir this is the PNS Goliath and Zephyr reporting. We're loaded down with fifteen infantry companies, twenty Tauntaun's, twenty Wampa's, ten AT-SE's, ten Typhoon's, ten LAAC's and five Bhesj's each." The captian of the Goliath, Commander Miranda Potos reported. Hearing this Noah grimaced, Herald-class's were known for being able to hold three times as much forces but then again Noah had rushed them. "Commander deploy all your armor and twenty-six of your thirty companies planetside. The other four are to be deployed to board the derelict fleet with three of the companies being split up between the escorts and one company on the Bestine." Noah ordered and made sure to send a message to the ground forces already planetside to expect company.

Objective 1.

[member="Lilin Imperieuse"] [member="Asmus Janes"]

Of course the Alliance had started out small. That was a stupid question, but he wanted to fill up the silence. Get to know the person that he had found himself to be partners with. Tightening his hold on the blaster's handle, he felt as if something were close, something dangerous to say the least, but malevolent... He ignored the feeling as he normally did. But he grounded his teeth and continued on ahead.

"If it lives it can die." He said with a certain coolness to his words. He was simple that way. Life was easier to live if you saw things in a simple fashion too.

Unable to pull his eyes off of the ridge in front of them, he slowly crept up over it as he heard the voice crackle over the comm in his ear. Simple, quick and concise as ever, the Kiffar Padawan answered.

"Lots of nasties."

"Draco, assist the Major!" Wrynn cursed as he slipped the helmet back over his head and the HUD lit up like fireworks. Bogeys from every angle came out of the woodwork and heat signatures that had formerly been suppressed by some sort of atmospheric anomaly were suddenly visible. He could see more paranormal entities seeping out of the rocky planet crust as he pulled Eddie to his feet. "Can you stand?" his mechanized voice asked, but only a pained groan came as response. "Eddie?" he asked again.

A quick biorhythm scan revealed feverish temperature and the blight had spread all the way to Eddie's hand. The flesh warped and twisted hideously, then bone snapped as boils festered and popped across the skin. Pus seeped out of the wounds and dripped to the soil where it promptly ate away at it like acid. "Do not let them break skin," he called over an open channel, "their physiology appears to be extremely volatile to... us."

He barely had time to finish the sentiment as another creature swiped at him with a large, blade-like proboscis. Tobias parried the blow with his gauntlet protected hand and managed to catch himself before stumbling over Eddie. The commando had lost consciousness and his body was now rapidly deteriorating. The alien malady had ripped through his immune system in mere minutes.

The lithe Draco spent no time engaging his energy sword. The edge superheated almost instantly and glowed a bright orange as he slashed at the beast that knocked over [member="Gideon Raith"] and went on a mindless rampage toward the heavily armored major. It screeched out and turned on him, which gave the superior officer time to regain his composure. "Good to see you, Major Raith," the younger commando greeted. "Rip and tear!"

He deftly stepped away from another savage swipe of the natural weapon and his teeth gnashed. "These things aren't..." his breath caught in his throat as he barely managed to escape a quicker, better rehearsed stroke with lethal intent. "...they're learning."

"Copy that," Wrynn hissed as the puddle that had been Eddie just moments before slowly evaporated into the hellscape of Keres I. "Eddie is gone," he confirmed time of death hastily as countless daemonic beasts closed in on their position. "Their strategy seems erratic, but they're... what are they?"

"Does it matter?" Draco spat back across the comm as he danced with the xenos, blades kissing viciously with shrill gasps of delight. The beast groaned its disdain for the immense heat that managed to dip deep into its arm and rendered the blade woefully less effective. "The mission was straightforward. Eliminate all hostiles and secure any survivors. Judging by these things, though..."

"I'm thinking it too," Wrynn acknowledged, "but save it for once we're out of the frying pan. We still need to figure out what tripped that distress beacon."

The bladed beast cried out as its arm finally gave beneath the pressure and heat of Draco's weapon, and half of it went airborne. "How many of these things are there?" he gasped.

"How's the major?" Wrynn called out.

Ugohr Poof

The Traveling Gungan Salesman
Post: 3/20
Objective: 2

"Mesa sittin tight in da hangar, but mesa suspect dat a power conduit rupture caused theirsa emitter components to fail" Ugohr told Noah over comm, before changing channels to the Bestine.

The Bestine's hangar was really cramped: it was designed for one squadron of fighters. Sure the N-2 was roughly the same size as a T-70 X-Wing, but he still have to request permission to dock before he could actually do so, even if he stayed tight in it, while waiting for further instructions. As a Jedi brute, most of he could do was fight, even if he did start the business due to a perceived need, and in an attempt to stave off the dark side. Nevertheless, he opens a channel to the Bestine, knowing that he will receive no response, just to make sure that his presence is known to the crew of the ship. If Ugohr's suspicions were correct, one of the power conduit failures occured near the communications systems, but, of course, none of it precluded other system failures. Ugohr was no capital ship mechanic, and he had no idea about how to actually go on about repairing those failures. But as he maintained some distance from the hangar...

"Disen General Poof of da Army of Malastare. Mesa requesten permission to dock. Mesa understand that yousa can only receive transmissions, mesa here to investigate da cause of yoursa dereliction"

[ Standing by, Nine. ]

Choli's voice would crackle through the comm. She was here to help provide close air support. So far, nothing was pinging in her sensor array; but that didn't mean that they wouldn't have boogies anytime soon.

They always came when one least expected.

From behind the yellow tint of her goggles, the native of Tatooine flew her T-70 starboard side of Rogue Nine. Being Force sensitive, there was a sudden chill at the back of her spine. As if a cold draft had suddenly swept down her collar and over her back. It left goosebumps in its wake, and didn't sit right with the girl.

[ Keep an eye out. Something doesn't feel right...]

Elsewhere in the Galaxy...
Dagobah
PharmaTech Expansion to Dagobah

A small group of researches from PharmaTech would step out from their shuttle into the humid and stagnant air of the Dagobah swamp. It wasn't the most homey of areas, but it was the planet selected to further their research on marshes, swamps, and their local flora. Studying the flora in this Force rich environment would prove to be beneficial to future PharmaTech efforts in gleaning the best method of removing toxins from the water and to create genetically enhanced versions of any beneficial plants.

Green technology was also an option, providing new venues of energy producing plants to promote sustainable venues of energy access. If all went well, PharmaTech would implement the construction of a small Bio-dome to further their research in this swampy land for more long term projects.

Oh kark, Lilin thought, suddenly startled by a foreign voice talking over the comm. She didn't know any of her squad had had such a voice, so it had to be somebody else. And she was right about this, for once in her lifetime. Varien was already answering, but Lilin had been to many such missions, knowing that 'lots of nasties' didn't always give all the information needed.

"We're scouting the radius of our ship, got some enemies..." she took a look behind, even though their enemies were ready to attack them. She had to be fast now. "... east from the ship, about half a kilometre. About a dozen of them."

She then had to stop talking and start acting.

The lightsaber ignited, releasing a blue blade. It attracted these Sithspawn, all looking very odd and unlike each other. The Dark Side mutated these creatures easily, forming them into something that didn't look normal whatsoever. The aberrations of Sithspawn made them unhumane, unable to feel much. They had to be killed.

Most of the creatures were running in their direction and Lilin was the one to run right against them. She was good at close combats, unlike the Padawan, she imagined.

"This is interesting..." Kahne muttered under his breath, as he took a glance to the right from the cockpit of the x-wing he piloted on occasion. Kahne was hoping to get a glance of the landscape in the air before making an on ground drop. He had hoped not to get into a bind here, but then again when did that ever not happen. The Jedi Master took a deep breath and exhaling slowly. This place look dreadful indeed, and there was something amiss here, something beyond what they could see. "What now..." Kahne said as the monitors and several lights began to blink on and off for a moment and then do so again at a more quickened pace. "Come on now..." The Jedi muttered just as a bolt of lightning struck just beside his fighter. "That's not good." Kahne said with a small smirk as he veered his fighter off towards the left and another bolt struck close by, and several more started to strike down at random places in the area. "Evasive maneuvers R4." Kahne whispered as he maneuvered his fighter through the aparent sever storm he seemed to get himself in.

It has to be something with the planet, a storm didn't just pick up like this in a matter of seconds. The Jedi Master had every intention of returning back to allied territory within the planet until a bolt nicked the side of the wing igniting it and causing a fire to start. The familiar red light started to go off in the cockpit as the flashing of lights and monitors started to happen again. "Chit..." The Jedi Master grunted as he pulled up on the controls as his fighter started at a slight dive towards the ground, within a few moments here and there control was able to be regained but not before the Jedi's master's wing crashed down onto the planet surface skidding along the surface a few seconds before it came to a complete stop.

Luckily his R4 droid was still intact...

He watched as the Sithspawn began to notice them. There was quite a few of them, unfortunately, Varien didn't have much for defense other than his size, strength, and heavy blaster pistol. Other than that, he was fairly useless. He listened as she gave the coordinates as best she could to those on the comms...

Close Air Support.

Now that was something that he could definitely screw up.

Rising up now, the beasts were heading for them and the Jedi Master was going straight for them. Headstrong Jedi Master?

That's what he liked to see!

He went off behind her, the heavy blaster pistol already being put to good use as he fired shots from behind the Jedi Master. The first shots were wild, aiming to see if it'd disperse the creatures. Usually things that hadn't been encountered before startled beasts for a short time. Even if they had used to been resident creatures on this planet, the evil that possessed them, that contorted them, had most likely stripped them of the memory of things they could've seen in the past.

The one directly in front of [member="Lilin Imperieuse"] caught a face full of crimson bolt, tripping it up before it rolled head over heels as it was gunned down. He took it in stride. He was a bragger, but in the middle of a soon to be skirmish without a foreseeable time of reprieve until the creatures were dead? He was serious.

Oh, that boy could shoot. Very well.

She watched the Sithspawn fall down dead while she herself manoeuvred around the crowd of these people. She would have to gain a boost for her jump. Even though she was good at Force powers like Force Leap and Force Jump, she still needed to gain some momentum for them to work. And that is exactly what she was doing.

Several of these creatures nearly managed to get her, but that did not slow her down much. She was determined.

After several seconds, she would jump up in the air and then fall, lightsaber down, into the crowd of these creatures. If she was lucky, she would manage to hit at least one of them with her lightsaber. And when she thought 'hit', it actually meant 'rip in half'.

She would have to combine her fall with a Force power or otherwise there was no real use of the jump. She tried to think of something, but she was a little bit too bad with any power she could use. A simple Force Push at the most.

The crowd had dispersed, some of the Sithspawn heading for the boy, some of them running away from the woman, some just walking around confused. At least she wouldn't fall into a pit of these creatures.

And then the fall happened, slicing a creature in half and pushing away two of the ones closest to her. She would now have to recover from her attack quickly so that she wouldn't die. Turning around to face the Sithspawn, she was ready for any other attacks. None of them were close enough for her to attack them right away. It was a good time to let Varien do his thing.

He continued to fire. The bolts exploded from the short barrel of the exceedingly large front of the heavy blaster pistol. He raised a second hand as he slowed his movements. Not every shot hit, he was under pressure, it should've been expected, but he reached into himself. Not just into himself, but into the Force unwittingly as he brought another Sithspawn down after a bolt blew out through the back of it's throat. If it still had blood running through it's body, it was likely drowning in it's own blood, or just dying.

Or was just dead.

Not a lot of time to think about that sort of stuff.

From the corner of his eye, one got close. Real close. His left hand went from aiming in front of him to be swung around in a quick reflex.

The blaster pistol cracked across the front of the Sithspawn's face. A momentary lull in the fighting for dramatic effect no less, let the *CRAAACCKK* sound as the thing dropped to the ground at his feet. He felt stronger, hard pressed to stay alive. It was different than when he had been on Togoria. This wasn't just for survival, it was to prove himself to not be a liability for the Jedi Master.

“Seven, keep high and fast and do a sweep. I’m going low and slow.”

The roar of ion engines would rumble across the terrain. Sithspawn would pause and look around them. As four red streaks showed Choli taking the high road, Asmus can in low in his TX-110. Whilst Choli probably would have used sensors to take thermal images, life form scans and a hi-definition video from that height, Asmus decided to eyeball things on the first pass.

Flicking a switch he instructed his ship to keep him at 1G down. As he rolled over the inertial dampeners and AG countered the planet’s gravity. Now it seemed as if the Jedi and sithspawn were fighting on the ceiling above him. It took him a moment to accept what his eyes were showing him. Nightmare creatures appeared to be gathering around a few Alliance members. Blaster bolts and a lightsabre keeping them at bay.

“It’s a melee,” he commented to Choli. “Not much I can do.”

At the Battle on Takodana X-Wings had proved their versatility in precise laser strikes, but Asmus needed something more clear. He rolled his fighter back over and came to hover a few hundred metres from the engagement.

“Ground forces, if you can hold your advance I can strafe across ahead of you and cut off those…things…coming in quickly. I’ll need laser or smoke to target anything with ordnance. Do you copy? Out.”

The sithspawn kept coming. They had started to drop in numbers, but there were still many of them around. Taking on the group of these would have been suicide had she been alone. But she had Varien and, supposedly, the Rogue Squadron to help her, so things weren't as bad as they could have been. Now she just needed to keep up with the fight.

Whatever was going on at the planet, she did not like it.

"Copy that," she replied to the Rogue. She didn't know a lot of these people personally, only Aedan and Alex. She didn't know if she had actually met any others. Probably had, at the gala. But she barely remembered any of that night.

"Varien, take this," she said as she turned towards the boy, shut off her lightsaber and then threw the hilt at the boy to catch. She had a second lightsaber, one that was clearly not used as often due to its odd colour and effects which Lilin didn't often need in battle. She didn't need the calming power of the Covenant saber, she needed the attention the black blade would get.

She hoped the boy wouldn't destroy her blue-bladed Covenant lightsaber -- she still needed it in the future.

Several sithspawn had reached her, so she had to activate the blade fast. And she was right -- as soon as the black lightsaber blade was ignited, the dark core of it started gaining the attention of these creatures.

A lone T-40 X-wing fighter made its way through the barren deserted landscape of the desolated Keres I, in it sitting a merely seventeen year old Rogue fighter of the Galactic Alliance.

It was better to show up late than to never show up at all.

[ Rogue Seven, Rogue Nine, Seventeen's here. ] he contacted the two Rogues who were already there. He was slowly lowering altitude, coming from the way Asmus was going in. He didn't know what the plans were, but he just knew he had to be there. And that was enough for now. He would get to learn about the plans soon enough.

That made him wonder, though. Why was he always the one not to know anything about the plans? Why not Choli, why not Sylvia or whoever else? Why him.

[ Coming your way. ] he decided to add in a moment.

The X-wing was nothing like the huge ships he was used to flying, but he did quite enjoy the liberty this one had. Nothing like flying a Star Destroyer, right?

When he heard his name called out, he snapped his head around at the last moment to track its path towards him before he shot his hand out to snatch it up into the air. Whether it was the Force or not, he didn't know, but he had always been good with physical things anyway. Catching a lightsaber was hardly difficult. He had plenty of training with vibroswords and daggers, and limited with a lightsaber. It couldn't be that difficult in truth he figured.

He caught the lightsaber in his outstretched right hand, and brought it down in a cutting motion over the nearest Sithspawn.

There was nothing but sheer amazement exploding across his features as the blue blade split through the creature and it fell to the ground, dead.

In the past, he had seen many Sith using the weapon. Naturally, the blades were red, but he knew of the damage they could do to a person. He had seen the damage they could do to a person. It was... Horrific, and yet... Exhilarating.

He fired his blaster in one direction, and swung in the other. They were thinning around him, but he wasn't sure if that for his excellent killing moves and were fearful of the young Kiffar, or for some outside reason.

Lilin swiped his black lightsaber around, chopping some sithspawn in half. The feel of this blade was really different than the one she typically used, but she kind of liked it. The change was huge, of course, but she had to note the balance on this one was a lot more easier to handle than the slight unbalance of the blue-bladed one.

But back to the action.

She was too busy handling the people right in front of her, so she didn't notice one of the sithspawn coming up before her. At the very last moment, she saw the creature, but then it was already too late. It grasped the woman's shoulder with its giant claws, tearing into the flesh of the Jedi Master.

"AAAAAAAAAAARGGHHHHH!"

The Master then swished her lightsaber through the air and right into the neck of the creature. Thankfully it was not resistant to lightsabers, so it was decapitated easily. However, she really couldn't cope with the pain of claws being forced deep into her flesh. She didn't know if the injuries were bad or not, but she did feel the pain.

She took a leap backwards to get out of the main action. She had to take a moment to regain herself and take a look at the shoulder. It was her right one, so she couldn't just keep on fighting. And even though she had been trained in using her left hand to fight, she was not as good at using the hand than she was using her dominant one.

The fight would be getting so fun.

Something about being a warrior or some such.

Lightsaber curved through the flesh of the people that dared to approach him. Blaster firing after every slash to put down the closest of his opponents after the one he had just cut down. Some got close, but when he fought he felt as if things slowed down. As if he could read the movements of his opponent and guess as to what they were doing while they were in the process of going through with it. Most of the time with these wild creatures he guessed right.

They were fast, but he made sure to keep track of them all.

The Jedi Master screamed out. A pretty ugly scream too if truth be told.

She jumped out and Varien continued to slash to and fro to get closer to the Jedi Master.

Weren't they meant to have close air support? Suppose it was best to call it late air support.

The amount of Sithspawn had been cut down greatly, but just when he saw the path cleared for the Jedi Master, he was tackled from behind and was sent flying forwards as the lightsabre hilt leapt from his hand.

A loud beeping brought the Jedi Master from his unconscious state. Kahne raised his hand and touched his forehead lightly, a cut was made and he was bleeding a bit. "Great..." Kahne smirked as he heard the beeping again and it was his Astro droid still on the side of his X-wing. Kahne glanced to his right and that wing was destroyed and what remained a small fire had taken hold now. The computer was still flashing a bit, but seemed shot for the most part. The best thing Kahne could do was have R4 send out an s.o.s. and hoped someone would hear it. However within the storm or whatever he went through, he wasn't sure if that was a possibility. Then again, the Jedi had hope that it would. The Jedi Master tapped a side button that lifted the hatch above him as well as ejected his R4 droid.

The Jedi removed himself from the wreckage as he glanced around a little bit, dark clouds and the like swirling around overhead for what seemed like a good distance. "Well R4, let's see how much more trouble we can get into." The Jedi chuckled lightly as he moved around behind the fighter opening the small compartment and grabbing the small canteen of water, and the pack of rations. The Jedi heard rumbling overhead and took a deep breath. "Alright. let's find some cover." The Jedi whispered as he took off in a slight jog away from the wreckage heading north, the astro droid speeding close by at his side.

[ Rogue Eleven, this is Control. Three Flight is to maintain CAP until further notice. One and Two Flights are giving close combat cover. Over. ]

Alleycat let a low snarl resound in her throat. Flying Combat Aerospace Patrol meant her flight would remain at the edge of Keres I's atmosphere against possible incursion by enemy forces during operations. The seasoned pilot liked to be in the thick of things, but this time she drew the short stick to babysit upstairs.

[ Roger that, Control. Eleven copies, ] Russo keyed back over the combat frequency, then toggled over to Three Flight's. [ Hear that guys… Keep your eyes and ears open. We'll continue on this grid sweep pattern for now. ] Two sets of double-clicks followed.

The brunette settled back into her pilot couch to get more comfortable, keeping a loose yet firm grip on the control stick just in case she needed to respond quickly. The last several weeks had been interesting to say the least. Alexandra hadn't been this happy in a long time thanks to the affections of a certain Jedi Master she'd let inside her protected sphere. And, it showed in her attitude. The adjustment had been just what the doctor ordered.

The Rogue's brandy brown gaze drifted over to the latest holoplc to have the honor of making it's appearance in her cockpit. The image was of a well-dressed couple seemingly at a party. It was wedged into the left hand corner of the X-wing's flight console. Another one of a family of five was stuffed into the right corner; all Alex's guardian angels in one form or another. The holo had been snapped at the Gala on Sullust by a photographer during the charity event, and sent to her afterwards. She and [member="Kahne Porte"] were all dreamy faced at each other dancing. It made the Taanabian's insides tingle just thinking about the after party, and their time spent together since then; limited as it was, though quality in her book counted more than quantity. Alexandra would be lying though if she didn't want more.

After a few minutes, Double One's loyal astromech droid beeped an alert that someone possibly was in trouble. "Are you sure… a distress signal? Did you get the coordinates?" Alex asked with a concerned tone. The copper red R2 unit whistled a negative. "Well keep trying to get a fix on it, Rusty. There's probably atmospheric interference blocking it from being picked up clearly with the harsh planetary conditions. Hopefully it was just your wild imagination tricking you," she smirked as the quirky dome head was like a dog barking at its own shadow sometimes. Gods I need to get him swiped soon.

For now, Alleycat would keep tabs on that possible mayday as well as the other Rogues' status giving ground side cover to the troops.

Keres I
Group of four Aegis-class Dropships approaching the ANS Bestine

Noah sighed as he checked over his armor for what seemed like the tenth time as the flight of Incom built Aegis-class Dropships delivered their cargo of one hundred and forty-four of the best soldiers the Pyre could muster, all of them dressed in the Omega Pyre standard issue Omega Advanced Combat Armor Mk I and armed with OPR-2 Blaster Rifles, or OPRC-1 Rotary Blaster Cannons in the case of heavy troopers. Noah was equipped very differently though.

While his men were equipped with the best weapons and armor that the Pyre R&D labs could produce Noah never could stand using weapons and armor that weren't made by his own hands, or at the least modified by his own hands. Maybe it was his Mando'a heritage. His armor at first glance seemed to be a relic of the Clone Wars but in actuality forged not of plastoid but instead with lightsaber resistant phrik with a body glove made of Phrik, Armorweave and special alchemically treated Terentatek hide protecting from various manners of offensive force powers.

His weapons were no different being top of the line custom modified. His rifle was a modified AR-35 made to be light and even more rugged than the design spacers and mercs already loved. His two sidearms are what could be described as handcannons, two custom revolvers firing massive 12.7mm slugs that could down a bantha in three shots or a Krayt Dragon in six. His knives were vibro-trench knives not only being sharp but also being able to break your jaw if need be and forged of Phrik to boot. His blade was forged of the same metal though it served as more of a status symbol among his family than anything, though it could hack off limbs should the need arise. His final weapon was his sword, the sword was a mystery to Noah, having found it on his doorstep one evening, not one to look a gift tauntaun in the mouth Noah had took it and used it ever since. All these weapons hung on his Bodo Baas Gunbelt which in turn was slung over the cloak that was made of the same Phrik-Armorweave mix of his bodyglove.
