Description: The Retribution Corps are a force of professional soldiers first and foremost. They are what remains of the First Order's military elite and as such they work with a discretion and professionalism which juxtaposes with the Werewolves. However the Retribution Corps are not beyond shooting first, asking later and are ruthless in their pursuit of the objective. Those who stand in their way will be wiped out and success must be achieved. They are however cognisant of the First Order’s current issues regarding logistics and shortcomings in industrial capacity. As such, will retreat if the material cost of victory outweighs any benefit.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
Unit Size: Medium
Unit Availability: Rare. The Retribution Corps operate in smaller units, independently of one another. As such, when encountered in the field, one will typically deal with a battalion at most.
Unit Experience: Elite. The Retribution Corps are comprised of the cream of the First Order crop. At the very highest levels, the Corps are staffed by special forces operators, and Death Troopers. At the very worst, the corps are stormtrooper veterans with at least two years combat experience.
Combat Function: The Retribution Corps are by no means a replacement to the largely defunct First Order Army. Instead, the way they operate, is in a multifaceted capacity. The first, is as agents of reconnaissance and garrisons. Cells of Retribution Corps dispatched for long term entrenchment, and to establish intelligence infrastructure on still loyal systems. The second, is as an enforcement, in this capacity the Retribution Corps act as enforcers, who fight against those seeking to establish control over former First Order territories. Finally, there’s scavengers. Dozens of caches of First Order intelligence and data was left scattered around its former domain.
Combat Veterans: The Retribution Corps are adept combatants, with a shared experience rivalling even the Galaxies most adept militaries. The Retribution Corps are solely forged out of combat hardened troops, meaning they’re a dangerous group.
Special Operators: Imbedded within the Corps are super soldiers. Soldiers such as Death Troopers, FOSB infiltrators and remnants of the First Order commandos. All of whom form some of the deadliest troops known to the Galaxy.
Split Organisational Doctrine: The Retribution Corps’s downfall is no centralised organisational doctrine, and many do not have the same training. The Corps suffers as such.
Self-Preservation: The units of the Retribution Corps are rare and unlike other more fanatical loyalists, will opt for self-preservation over the completion of the mission if both are in jeopardy.
Mission Support: The Retribution Corps operated in isolated conditions. They don’t have access to many vehicles in the field. Even with reinforcing support, they almost solely on air cover.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The First Order shattered apart and the gargantuan military machine which helped bind it, was one of the first victims. Those that survived entrenched themselves in the shell that had been its domain. A large enclave however attached to the First Order Sixth and Seventh fleets managed to create a small foothold on Pa’Desh.
Under the guidance of several generals, and military officials, the Pa’Desh Enclave began to reform what limited military forces they had. Despite the limitations of resources, the group lead by Grand Admiral Carlyle Rausgeber had aspirations to continue to hold unto the First Orders former dominions. Not necessarily with formal controls and an arm of government, but rather to keep friendly regimes in check with his interests.
The Retribution Corps was the key to this. Over a number of weeks, thousands made their way to Pa’Desh, wounded and beleaguered from fighting their way past the Ssi-Ruuk incursion. Of those that remained the remnants of First Order Central Command remained began to form a new corps of military troops designed to take the fight back to the Ssi-Ruuk, recover technologies and data once lost but perhaps more importantly defend First Order interests against its enemies.
The Retribution Corps became the embodiment of this. After days of analysis, and research, Central Command managed to put together a force of the First Order’s greatest remaining warriors into a strategic strike force. Able of being dispatched to continue Sieger Ren’s legacy. As such the Retribution Corps began its first missions, seeking to recover vital technical data that may be useful and fortifying the vulnerable frontier.
