The Salvager and the Senate

Popo

Popo scratched at his cheek in thought. He knew folks well enough to figure out lies from truths will some measure of consistency and [member="Kyra Sol"] seemed to be telling the truth, or at least part of it.

"Thank you, Ms. Sol. I have no further questions at this time," he stated politely with a gracious nod at the woman. If another Senator brought up a valid point, he may find more questions. For now, however, he would let others ask their own interrogatives.

All through this Persephone Callas was silent, as her fellow Senators asked the probing questions. She was glad that Junior Senator [member="Popo"], as much of a wretched slug that he was, asked the pertinent question of where the hyperlane would start and end.

But just what did they know about Rahvin Industries?

This went mulling over her head, pondering quietly to herself. As head of the Judiciary committee, she was tasked to investigate any matter within Republic Space and any potential threats.

With the situation in hand with the Mandalorians, just what would come of this? She mulled this question further.

Finally she spoke, "I propose that the Judiciary committee in light of recent activities with other companies that have brought a matter of distasteful scenes upon this Senate court. A full investigation upon Rahvin Industries prior to any commitment to assure their neutrality..." her voice went trailing off, but being a woman that she was, in it she gave [member="Kyra Sol"] the ability to ensure from that moment on, nothing would smear Rahvin Industries reputation.

Well, if she was a smart enough woman, nothing would come up off this investigation to begin with -- at least, that one can get caught with.

The woman inclined her head, first to Popo and then Persephone. The truth of the matter was, Rahvin Industries was exactly how she had informed them it was: civilian class vessels, luxury yachts, a few nice benefits for using their ships. There were even a few worker droids and fully paid labourers which had proved useful for numerous individuals throughout RI's sphere of influence. As for the handful of classified items, which had been made to order without any excess in creation... Well they had been done completely off record, without RI's name upon the receipt so to speak. And even they had been produced for the former C.E.O. Nothing would come up, because there was nothing to flash up. She wasn't worried, she had no reason to be.

"Very well, Senator, I trust your judgement. The protection of the Republic is of utmost importance to all within this Senate."

"Hyper lanes are the arteries that keep this galaxy alive. The internal affairs committee would like to begin the investigation and get this worked out immediately." Vaudin said.

He began contacting his 'contacts' feom his datapad. His grey eyes flicking along the lines of text that began coming in. One thing he was good at, it was getting information.

"Ms. Sol any company information ypu can provide would certainly expidite this process." He said looking up, "you can send it to me."

[member="Vaudin Miir"]

"Information such as what, Senator? All of Rahvin Industries' business is readily available for governments such as yourselves -- as I say, we are a neutral party here for the benefit of civilians everywhere. We have nothing to hide." Everything on record was up to the standards she had set before them: the most recent activity through their doors was the creation of mining and exploration droids in wake of this very project, alongside a commissioned blueprint of the patrol trifighter droid-brained ships which would be used to keep the hyperlane safe for all who travelled upon it. While none had been made yet, should the go ahead be given and their purpose invigorated, construction would begin right away. And given their private status these would not be able to be purchased by anyone, regardless of how much money they tried to throw at the company. Rahvin Industries did not fund or approve of war between Galactic Nations. All the same, she send this information across to Vaudin and his committee.

[I'd give you the company sub etc but it's in dire need of editing -- I just haven't had the time recently >___< ]

Vaudin looked over his datapad as his search turned up all the applicable information for all to see right on the holonet. There were no illicit deallings linked with either Ms. Sol or her company. She seemed little more than a standard civilian contractor and space loving salvager. Their was more dirt under Vaudin's nails than the woman before them and a good deal more questionable behavior. That coupled with the amount of Republic space effected and the proximity to habitable systems along with the opportunities the republic could have to use said hyperlane. He had no more questions and was more than happy to say the investigations were conclusive in her favor.

"I can not even find allegations or suspicions of anything inappropriate with regards to either Ms. Sol or her company and my connections run quite deep." Vaudin said, "I can see no reason to keep an honest spacer dirtside any longer. I move to approve the proposal of a new hyperspace lane, plotted by Ms. Sol, to be approved forthwith and supported by the republic for the portion within our boarders. After all helping honest business people and civilians is why we're all here is it not? Ms. Sol you have my vote of approval and confidence."

She inclined her head ever so slightly, before glancing to those who had been wary of potential invasion. "There is one other thing you might wish to hear, regarding the lane itself: we plan on introducing security measures through which to monitor the flow of traffic through the lane. Any abnormality which could point towards potential invasion will be sent to the relevant authorities within the Galactic Power it is nearing. A warning sign, so to speak." She shrugged; Rahvin Industries needed people alive and well in order to work at its optimum efficiency. War was bad for a civilian company.

"I can see no more issues with the proposal," the Shell Hutt stated politely. "Miss [member="Kyra Sol"] has her bases covered and certainly knows her information. I vote in favor of the hyperlane. Any others?"
