The Sarvchi Concordat

28phFUx.png

As in any outbreak of battle the pervasive potluck of outcomes that ensued resulted in far flung consequences that harmed more than just those unfortunate enough to blast and be blasted. Such was the case on the world of Sarvchi in relation to the recent liberation of the Chiss peoples. While the major battles with massive fleets may have taken place relatively close by, there was still a possibility of this world escaping the wave of destruction and rebirth. At least there would have been, if not for that most distasteful element of chaos which this galaxy indulged upon time and time again.

Pirates.

Drawn to areas near battles were always a slew of smugglers, hunters, mercenaries, and pirates -seeking to make a quick credit at the expense of anyone and everyone. Usually they could expect a temporary reprieve from larger governments and get off their various grifts. Except this time they would be surprised. Instead of a undefended world they were greeted with a single First Order Star Destroyer, the FIV Malice. Working in conjunction with Sith Empire Intelligence, this particular First Order vessel was assigned to this flank to deter enemies of the budding Ascendancy. As waves of disparate criminal vessels scrambled to escape the ambush a number were obliterated, but not without one of the larger pirates vessels taking a large gamble and recklessly charging through a line of civilian craft while bound to a spaceport on the planet surface. Unlike the heroes of yore, this gambler did not draw the desired hand, and instead hit a critical failure when the fleeing ship struck a cargo hauler filled with fuel.

The combined wreck slammed near the spaceport in an industrial district of the city. Dangerous was an understatement.

From this point as things in the space around Sarvchi calmed down the Malice’s role changed to that of support. Battalions of troops and emergency personnel were ordered to set up in the city. When it came to moving large populations of civilians in an orderly fashion the First Order had it down to a science. Meanwhile, crews of firefighters working in tandem with the native Chiss engaged with Hell in order to control the blaze.

It was in this context, while the city below was made safe that this meeting took place. It wouldn't be the first time these two governments have interacted. Time would tell if something more concrete would be established from the more imperially minded powers. In the meantime a conference room aboard the Malice was prepared to accept dignitaries should they be comfortable with the more efficient style of diplomacy.

“Diplomacy is the velvet glove that cloaks the fist of power.”

It was a strange place to find himself, thrust once more into the place he'd called home. There was little in the way of animosity between he and the Chiss core worlds, though he accredited his orders to attend the quiet summit solely to his ethnicity. "A force intended to assist in rebuilding and rehabilitating the battered world of Sarvachi" At least, that's how it had been framed. He wasn't stupid enough to believe that was the sole reason for their tasking - it was why when the FOSB Director herself had been spotted in the corridors of the Malice, he knew his thoughts were confirmed.

Having been assigned to the Malice temporarily for this endeavor, Saren found himself missing the familiar corridors of the Excalibur and the comforting hum of the Cruiser's engines. The Malice was similar, but just different enough to put him off his footing - probably an intentional tasking. The best command officers were the versatile ones. And so, the young Lieutenant Commander had taken it in stride. Even now he prepared to make a go of it. Falling into step behind the Director, Saren kept his eyes open and his mouth shut. Discretion was the better part of valor.

Space; Sarvchi System.
The Vesci appeared in-system, personal flagship of Admiral Mitth'orn'eruod, commander of the Second Fleet of the CEDF. There had been emergency reports of pirate attacks in the Sarvchi System, followed by concerning indications of a single Star Destroyer also appearing above the planet. Needless to say, the Defense Hierarchy had been quick to rally a response, not wanting to allow potential enemies - especially possible Jen'ari Empire forces - to have control or influence of a system so close to Chiss Space. While not bringing to bear the entire Second Fleet, considering the danger posed only indicated a small pirate force and a single Destroyer of mid-size length, Mitth'orn'eruod was determined to be prepared. The CNS Vun'ruti, a medical frigate, was inbound also, under the command of Chief Medical Officer Brask'ari'sabosen.

"Beginning sensor scans of all ships in the area, Admiral," The bridge crewman said, from the nearby control panel he manned. "There's local traffic, the reported single Star Destroyer, as well as some kind of disruption on the planet."

"Determine the cause of the disruption, I will contact the Destroyer," Mitth'orn'eruod said, as he turned to look back out at the distant planet, noting the triangular shape of the unknown starship. "Open communications."

There was a pause, followed by a confirmation from communications, as the transmission was beamed toward the unknown vessel. Sensor data was beginning to filter in, as well as updates on the crash and level of destruction on the planets' surface. It seemed a pirate vessel had plummeted through atmosphere and exploded amid a fuel and industrial complexes... certainly a catastrophe if ever there was one. All of this information was passed to the readouts in front of Mitth'orn'eruod, who stood at the fore of the bridge, near the viewports.

"This is Admiral Mitth'orn'eruod of the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet," The Chiss said, his voice low, his crimson eyes bright. He stared at the distant Destroyer, it being near half the size of his own ship. "I request that you identify yourself and your purpose here. Failure to do so will result in defensive action by CEDF forces."

Glancing down to the screens before him, Mitth'orn'eruod noted that an update included information pertaining to dropships and troopers entering the damaged city area below...

"Flight Control, launch all starfighters and have them pursue any remaining pirate vessels in the area. Have them destroy all but a small portion of the craft, and track hyperspace routes of those escaping pirates, so we can trace them back to the pirate base."

Mitth'orn'eruod turned his attention to the CNS Vun'ruti.

"Be advised, Vun'ruti, there has been a starship impact and explosion in the industrial sector below, on planet," Mitth'orn'eruod worked his jaw muscles, waiting for the reply from the Destroyer nearby. He suspected he knew who it belonged to, given the presence of the soldiers and landing craft, but he wanted to be sure. "Available data on damage has been sent, I advise you begin preparation for large-scale medical assistance. However, the orbiting Star Destroyer has yet to identify, so do not break formation or land personnel until ordered."

Turning his attention back to the comm, Mitth'orn'eruod looked to the Destroyer...

Aboard the CNS Vun'ruti
Arrival in system
Brask'ari'sabosen stood on the bridge of the Vun'ruti as the vessel decanted from space along side its escort the much larger MOHN-class Chiss Star Battlecruiser named the CNS Vesci.

This was the Chief Medical Officer's flagship. The Ch'abesen-class Medical Frigate called the Solace when translated from Cheunh to Galactic Basic had state of the art facilities to handle medical and humanitarian emergencies. It also housed a Chiss Mobile Surgical Unit - CMSU (or Cimsoo for short) that could be deployed ground side to be a field hospital and/or civilian support center. There too were dozens of transports and medevac shuttles on board to ferry medical personnel, supplies, and patients to and from the ship. This was part of the newly promoted doctor's restructuring of the CEDF's Chiss Medical Corps.

Today, their capabilities would be put to the test once again as the Battle Surgeon's crimson gaze looked upon the devastation below on the Chiss world of Sarvchi and the fleeting space battle in the skies above. The sight of a familiar capital ship in orbit though caught her attention. From her days with FIMS, Brask'ari'sabosen knew that one...

"Ma'am... Admiral Miith'orn'eruod is hailing us," the communication's officer looked up from his station.

"Yes, patch the Admiral through directly to the captain's chair," the CMO answered curtly, then the tall and slender female Chiss stepped over to where Captain Prad'elo'nuruodo was sitting. This way they both could hear what the Admiral of the 2nd Fleet had to say and confer if needed.

Even though Brask'ari'sabosen was technically in command of the Vun'ruti, she left the fleeting part for the senior naval officer to handle as her medical duties were the priority. When the situation required it though, the Ambassador of House Sabosen or Diplomatic Syndic as the position was formally called could be pulled away to assist in Affairs of State for the Chiss Ascendancy. In that case, the Deputy Chief Medical Officer would take over directing the CMC.

"Received and understood, Admiral Mitth'orn'eruod," she replied crisply, then added a moment later. "Also of note, Admiral... The Resurgent-class Star Destroyer before us is known as the FIV Malice. In the right hands, it is quite formidable on its own. It is wise to be cautious."

Brask'ari'sabosen knew Mitth'orn'eruodo was quite aware of the ship's capabilities. In fact, the man was probably chiding her internally for even bring the notion up, but she hoped he picked up on the overall meaning of the far-traveled Sabosen's comment. Who knew whom was at the command and what their true objective was here. There was nothing straightforward about the First Order. They were very good at playing chess and having several moves ahead already planned out, but at least the Imperials were usually willing to open dialogue to see if a mutual solution could be obtained first benefitting both sides before going to the next step. As the Chiss were, unless provoked.

"Captain... Have the ship set to Condition One as we await furthers orders from the Admiral. I want us ready for launch when we do get green lit to deploy our assets. Time will be of the essence for those poor souls on the ground."

"I concur with you, Chief Brask'ari'sabosen... House Chaf will indeed be needing all our help this day," Prad'elo'nuruodo answered, then motioned to his first officer to put the medical frigate on alert as requested.

Emergency status light indicators flashed a dull yellow of warning. They had been blinking on and off at a steady pace ever since the Vesci had picked up a distress beacon. The flagship of the 2nd fleet responded immediately to the call and the lights came on to alert the crews to impending danger.

Sentiri was typically stationed at her console near the vessel's computer core. The CEID was a different kind of posting than what had ever done before. While working for the Sabosen family in their internal security Phalanx, she had always been stationed on Sposia, the Sabosen's world of oversite. After being exiled by the Ascendancy and coming to the First Order, she had been stationed in offices across Dosuun, the capital of the interplanetary government. But now that the Agent had returned to service with the Ascendancy, her posting had her on rotations throughout the CEDF fleet system. Patrols were the new normal and any time spent planetside was the exception.

The tour that the Intelligence Department had assigned to her was with the 2nd. That meant that most of her time was spent aboard the Vesci. Aside from being among the largest of the fleet's vessels, Vesci housed the servers that the entire fleet used to communicate directly. Maintaining and monitoring that core was one of Sentiri's day to day responsibilities.

On a surface level, that duty was incredibly tedious. For the most part, maintenance consisted of diagnostics and waiting on loading screens. But on a deeper level came the real task of a CEID agent. She directly monitored communications coming in and out throughout the entire fleet. Not only personal communiques, but computer to computer data also crossed her path. When an emergency beacon was picked up by the ship's core, she had computer location data, accompanying sensor readouts, and a plethora of other data to pour through.

A moment was all the CEID operative needed to review the information that scrolled across her display before Sentiri left her mundane station and made her way towards the bridge.

By the time the Vesci was coming out of hyperspace, Sentiri exited the turbolift onto the bridge of the fleet's flagship. After a moment exchanging words with an aide, Sentiri was escorted to the command station of a man she had only seen, but never actually met. "Admiral Mitth'orn'eroud," she said. Her body came to as close of an imitation of attention as she had ever done in her life. Protocol was something that a slicer, even a Chiss one, rarely had the time to respect. But she respected the chain of command, and the man in front of her. She would do her best to honor that respect. "Master Agent Sabosen'tir'inrokini, reporting for duty. I believe my assistance may prove useful to you." A brief moment passed. "Sir."

It would have been easy for this situation to devolve into a grim one, but luckily the representatives of the Chiss faction were willing to approach all things with a propensity for examination and intellect that the race was known for.

Time was running short, and while the commanding officer of the Malice handled communications with the Vesci exchanged pleasantries the reception was prepared for whatever diplomats that would be sent over, if things didn't just break down.

At some point the commanding officer in the bridge of the First Order ship patched himself down to the Director who was already waiting in a leisurely posture within the ship's largest conference room. When asking for orders to proceed she only responded with:

"Stand down, and invite them aboard. Turn the safeties one and whatnot. We're not in danger here."

Or so she would have to hope.

In anycase the weapons aboard the ship powered off and the commanding officer explained that the First Order vessel was standing down.

Now all they would have to do is wait to see how things would play out.

The confirmation to remain in position from the Vun'ruti was received and confirmed, the Admiral feeling more at ease knowing the medical frigate would continue to use the larger battlecruiser as a shield until told otherwise. The last thing the CEDF needed was to have the frigate fired on, which would throw the already hostile situation into utter chaos. Additionally, the Chief Medical Officer was an asset, one skilled in her field. As the battle ahead between the Star Destroyer and pirates continued to play out, the Chiss crewmen were busy at work updating sensor readings, scanning the system, checking for potential ships on the outer edges of the region, and basically ensuring the Vesci wouldn't run into surprises.

It was also around this time that Mitth'orn'eruod was approached by an individual unknown to him. He turned to greet the Chiss, offering a nod as she introduced herself.

"Master Agent Sabosen'tir'inrokini, a pleasure to meet you," The Admiral said in a crisp tone, before he motioned to the panels on the bridge where he stood at the viewports. "Please, join me."

Across the screens numerous data packets of information scrolled. It was organized in a manner appropriate to Mitth'orn'eruod's methods of processing intel, though for someone who was a Master Agent, the Admiral suspected it was no issue whatsoever to understand the layout. Several new pieces of intel appeared, as the sensor crew updated the telesponder information based on word from the Vun'ruti, showing datafiles on the vessel known as the FIV Malice. The name didn't strike much in the way of confidence, causing the Admiral to smile briefly at the irony.

"As we prepare for possible hostilities from the Malice, I would ask that you remain beside me at my station, so we can process information at a faster rate," Mitth'orn'eruod looked down to the screens, tapping several buttons, before swiping a number of information popups to the spy's console. "Our aim is to analyze the vessel's systems, determine the fastest route to disabling it, should that be requi--"

"Admiral, apologies for the interruption," Said a Lieutenant as she walked over, saluting. "We have just received word from the Malice. They have powered down weapons and requested an envoy to land on their vessel."

Mitth'orn'eruod narrowed his crimson eyes for a moment, considering. Perhaps the First Order were simply offering assistance in a time of turmoil? Or perhaps they were trying to appear that way? In either instance, it came down to the facts, and they were that the Malice had powered down and submitted to boarding. And given the size difference compared to the Vesci, it could be a ruse to avoid being attacked. But the Admiral wasn't so sure, there was immediate compliance, no attempts at trying to stall or moving into ambush firing position. He decided to take the First Order at their word, for now.

"Very well, confirm we will send a delegation to board and meet their commanding officer," Mitth'orn'eruod said to the Lieutenant, before turning back to the individual beside him. "Master Agent Sabosen'tir'inrokini, belay that request. I have need of you on the envoy shuttle with myself. Before we leave for the hangar, please speak to my communications officer and organize a tight-beam transmission earpiece. I will be relying on you for information updates while aboard the Malice."

Meanwhile, the battle against the pirates had started to dissolve. The starfighters from the Chiss warship were swarming now, firing endlessly into the smaller corvettes and frigates, reducing their pitifully under-powered shielding and hulls to ruin. Mitth'orn'eruod knew the battle was winding down, especially when the pirates began to attempt fleeing, and before long they were in full retreat. That was fortunate, as it allowed the Chiss and First Order an opportunity to speak without the threat of attack, at least for the moment.

"Have my commando guard ready at the shuttle, I will be leaving immediately," Mitth'orn'eruod said to his second-in-command, as he walked along the bridge to the turbolift. "You are in command until I return, Commodore. Establish a position near the Malice, favoring the engines as viable targets, if the distress call is raised. Do not hesitate, regardless of my status. Also, give the Vun'ruti permission to begin medical operations, while providing starfighter patrols over their position on the planet."

With a quick salute, the Admiral stepped into the turbolift and waited for the Master Agent to join him. Once she did so, the hangar button was pressed and the doors closed...

Sometime Later...

The transport shuttle from the Vesci flew through the distance toward Malice, the pilots in the cockpit some of the best in the CEDF. In the rear of the shuttle, strapped into the rowed seating, Mitth'orn'eruod looked out of the small viewport silently, preparing for the meeting - or ambush - that was to come. Nearby, also seated, were his commando escorts, four highly trained individuals dressed in full commando armor and weapons. They would be for security, certainly, but also had orders to do as much damage to the Malice as possible, should Mitth'orn'eruod be killed or otherwise detained.

"We will be arriving shortly, Master Agent," Mitth'orn'eruod said in a low tone, as he looked toward Sabosen'tir'inrokini. "When we do, if you could begin by searching for information on whom we meet, before transferring it to my datapad. Vessel schematics would be helpful, also. As well as any other pertinent information you feel is important."

There was a brief rattle as the shuttle was brought under tractor beams, the pilots allowing the Malice to bring the smaller vessel into the appropriate hangar. After several minutes, the shuttle had landed, the delegation had unfastened belts, and they were walking down the ramp and being led toward a conference room by a number of First Order troopers and an officer. Mitth'orn'eruod straightened the front of his uniform, before the doors opened and the Chiss were asked to enter.

There sat a lone humanoid.

"Greetings," Mitth'orn'eruod said, as he nodded with a small bow. He looked at the female, taking in her appearance and manner, as the Chiss Commandos spread out in the room behind him. "I am Admiral Thorne of the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet, commander of the Vesci. Thank you for allowing us onto your vessel..."

"Yes, Admiral," the Agent said. For the most part, she was relieved not to be dismissed outright. The Intelligence Division had broader definitions for rank and placement within the CEDF than the other branches. That sometimes meant that they were not immediately perceived as being equals. Other times, their mere presence was cause for concern, suspicion, or, at the very least, irritation. Certainly, Sentiri was no equal to the Chiss before her, an Admiral and no less than the commander of the entire fleet. Admiral Mitth'orn'eruod's trust in her abilities was obvious from the information he intended her to process, though the same command could have been seen as a test of her abilities instead. But the man's defenses were raised, and that was not the purpose for Sentiri's intrusion onto the bridge of the Vesci. She was here to advise the man on the source of the beacon the 2nd fleet had received, the very ship that the Admiral was lining up in his sights.

Before she had a chance to say anything, another aide approached. The report was a relief to the former First Order Agent. Sentiri was surprised at herself for her vested interest in seeing a peaceful resolution to the proceedings. The woman had left voluntarily, setting the government firmly behind her on her road forward. She supposed a part of her would always be grateful, though, for the home they gave her when nowhere else in the galaxy seemed to make any sense. Perhaps her recent homecoming to the Ascendancy allowed her to grasp that sentiment.

Moments after the aide's report, the Admiral was relaying orders once more and Sentiri pulled herself out of her thoughts in time to not be caught off guard. She hurriedly grabbed an intership communications earpiece from the bridge's communications officer and, with their quick assistance, tuned the device to beam information directly from Vesci's communications array to the ear piece and vice versa. The Master Agent then double-timed across the bridge to the turbolift once more, where Admiral Mitth'orn'eruod awaited her.

They rode the turbolift in silence and Sentiri felt considerably more awkward than she had when she had first come to the bridge. At that time, the Agent had purpose in her face-to-face with the Admiral. After all, she was a former First Order operative, their Director of Intelligence no less. She had valuable insight on the inner workings and operations of the government. But to Sentiri, she felt as though so much time had passed since she had initially arrived on the bridge, even if in actuality that had only been a few minutes. Letting the Admiral in on her whole background on the turbolift felt, well, awkward. She didn't need to draw attention and gloat, or make it appear as though she had an alternative motive in mind. Sentiri just needed to do her job. So she stood in silence, just behind the Admiral. Eventually, her expertise would prove valuable. And that's all that mattered.

They stepped off the turbolift and, as the shuttle was being prepared, she began to pull information from her personal archives onto a datapad on some relevant information, mostly cultural normatives and current political climates concerning the First Order. Aboard the shuttle, the Admiral charged her with additional data gathering tasks. She had never been aboard the FIV Malice herself, as it had been commissioned after she had already abdicated her position. But, from her data gathering, she knew that the vessel had been commissioned as the flagship of Admiral Rausgeber. Sentiri was familiar with the man, though she had not crossed paths with him since he was but a Captain. Sentiri reduced her findings to the necessary bites of information that would give her Admiral an upper hand on speaking with the man and forwarded those to the Admiral's datapad.

The pair, accompanied by a squad of armed Commandos, boarded the Malice without impediments. Sentiri recognized the uniforms of the officers, but no one stuck out to her. The First Order Navy was massive at the organizations height. She would be surprised if she knew very many of them at all. All the better for her. Remain anonymous. Keep feeding the Admiral information. Job well done.

And then they entered a conference room. Awaiting the Chiss entourage was a lone woman, rather than Admiral Rausgeber. And Sentiri was surprised to find that she didn't know the woman, despite the woman's perceived position of prominence aboard such an outstanding vessel of the line. Have I really been out of touch with these people for so long?

"Admiral Thorne. . ." The woman stood to offer a bow, crossing her left hand over her heart while extending her right hand outwards to her side -dipping her head in respect. This was a typical greeting a planet and culture far, far away from this sector of space.

"The thankfulness is mine." The officer, whole appeared dressed in a fashion somewhat similar to the noblemen of Sith Empire far to the Galactic North let a most pleasant smirk play across her face. Calling it smug wouldn’t exactly be a correct assertion, and yet it was unpleasant in its tilt nonetheless.

“There isn’t much in the way of time, I’m afraid - so I’ll be direct, clear, and rapid.” The macabre woman seemed to be able to shift mood of an entire room with something so subtle as the controlling her intonation. Other than this she didn’t outwardly appear as something dangerous. So who was she? Why should she even be able to command the presence of admirals, and why was she apparently in control of a ship that should have been in possession of Grand Admiral Rausgeber.

“I am Ms. Shepard, Director of the First Order Security Bureau.” Even as other Chiss began to take their places none of it seemed to phase the auburn haired woman. Just a quick flick of azure eyes would peer into theirs without flinching. Apparently, all this seemed natural to her it skirted into a realm of the casual.

“And I am here, Admiral, to solicit your help…” Her gaze now met Thorne’s, where she let it linger to see if he would return the gesture and in what manner.

Brask'ari'sabosen had anticipated being green lit for this mission so she was already on the lead medevac shuttle when Admiral Mitth'orn'eruod did finally give the go-ahead to launch.

The trip down from the Vun'ruti stationed in orbit to ground was eye opening to say the least. The destruction caused by the pirate ship crashing into the city center was enormous. Local fire teams were trying to control the blazing inferno to keep it from spreading while first responders were doing search and rescue. It was all hands on deck. The extra support from the medical frigate was a god send. The Chief Medical Officer was just glad they could assist.

As soon as she landed, Brask'ari'sabosen checked in with the Incident Commander on the scene. A modified CMSU was set up inside a sports stadium nearby on the grassy area in the middle. All patients would now be triaged through there and treatment options evaluated. Criticals would be transported up to the medical frigate after being stabilized. Non life threatening and walking wounded would be treated planetside at the Cimsoo.

The numbers of casualties would be high in all categories. A temporary morgue was also set up in a hangar at the spaceport, and a missing persons center was activated as well so loved ones could either list their kin as missing and/or be reunited through finding them alive or dead. Hopefully there would be more happy endings than not, but usually that wasn't the case in these kinds of horrific events.

The greeting mannerism was peculiar, with Mitth'orn'eruod not being knowledgeable of its origin. Still, the Chiss could admit he knew but a fraction of the species and cultures in the galaxy, so not being familiar with one was very likely. The expression on the delegate's face, however, made the Admiral slightly incline his head. The clothing was reminiscent of the Sith Empire, which was of some interest, but otherwise her words seemed to correlate to the situation thus far - grim in tone as they were.

"Agreeable," Mitth'orn'eruod said simply, as the individual expressed a desire to be quick in explanation. "Please do."

When Director Shepard introduced herself, identifying as commander of the FOSB, the Admiral used the time to glance toward his personal datapad on the inside of his left arm. There was no information available as of yet from Sabosen'tir'inrokini, which could have indicated one of several potential reasons. It wasn't important at that moment, since now was the time for Mitth'orn'eruod to gauge his opposite, to determine why and what following the revelation of whom. Of note was that Ms. Shepard was not one of the individuals Mitth'orn'eruod might otherwise have expected to be involved in such a meeting, though given the organization she worked for, the Admiral wasn't completely surprised. It would make little-to-no sense to parade around Directors of the Security Bureau.

"Very well, Director Shepard," The Chiss said simply, tone low, perhaps equally macabre. "As the expression goes, I am all ears."

Mitth'orn'eruod held the stare, his crimson eyes unblinking, his face showing no determinable expressions, micro or otherwise. Neutral. Calm, controlled, concealed, giving away nothing... for now.
