Tegaea Alcori, one of the two Directors of Firemane, has always loved the stars. Even when she became Lady Protector of OP and then co-owner of Firemane, the fascination never left her. Thus, she proposed that Firemane moved into exploration.
The benefits would be potentially huge; new resources to harvest, new people to discover and new colonisation targets to find. However, deep space is dangerous, and so a craft big enough to discover but protect itself was in order.
One ship Tegaea had liked from her earliest days was the Jaeger class, or at least the look of it. Thus, she partly reused that look in order to create the Scarlet Destiny, frequently shortened to just ‘The Destiny’. The ship follows the ‘traditional’ Star Destroyer design for the most part, with some additional flourishes.
The ship is well equipped with experts, defences, attack craft and weapons to deal with any hazards and opportunities encountered. It is not equipped to be a ship of the line, and no should it be used as such. Rather, it is designed to fight emergent dangers on the rim and defend smaller ships or work with support to defeat larger enemies.
Overall the Destiny is well equipped for its mission and is no slouch in combat either.
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To create an exploration ship for Firemane which can also adequately defend itself in combat as needed. The ship in itself is not especially strong, but it offers good support and protection to other ships. This craft is also good at its job providing science, training, repair and production facilities for the long journeys into space.

- Defensive. With heavy shields and armour, the Destiny can take a beating. If the battle goes against it, the Destiny can fire up molecular shields which make it a fortress of defence.
- Versatile. Though not primarily a combat ship, the Destiny is quite well armed, with capital grade weapons. It can hold its own against a Destroyer of similar size or any cruiser or smaller ship. It also operates a powerful hanger of attack craft.
- Scientific. The Destiny has all the resources and facilities to explore unknown systems and species.
- Military. The Destiny has a mini army on board. With the help of landing ships it can deliver a powerful force just in case those people being explored take exception to it….
- Drain. In order to activate the molecular shields, the weapons and engines must be robbed of power. This is good at protecting the ship, but reduces its ability to escape or defeat the enemy alone.
- Escort. The Destiny is not expected to engage enemy ships in the battleline alone. It requires support by escorts and other capital ships too.
- Assistance. Though it contains parts and specialists, the Destiny is often alone for long time periods in the depths of space. If help is needed it takes a long time for help to come.
- Reinforcements. 5,000 or so troops is a good amount, but will not win a war. The Destiny will require reinforcements for a protracted ground campaign.
