Roxsie wasn’t much more than a kid, but she had an awareness that came with experience. She was spot on — not everyone’s a Jedi or a Sith. Padd was no Sith, but he wondered whether he could even still be called a Jedi. Perhaps in the true sense of the word, but not the bastardized definition utilized by the Galactic Alliance these days.
Roxsie was also correct that, even if Cross claimed to know where they were going, she should be the one flying her ship. He didn’t trust the Trandoshan to drive a landspeeder in this crazed mental state, much less pilot them through the Tingle Arm. ”Gods and goddesses aside,” Padd interjected, “this Courier is yours. Draconis has the directions, but you take the controls.” He had neither the map nor the desire to take the helm. He was also distracted — or focused — on whatever was pushing him to join this crusade.
Cross‘s motivations were transparent. If anything, he had overshared. But Padd could not help but wonder why Roxsie was agreeing to this. Was it just for the loot? This ship said otherwise, but she could have acquired it in any number of ways that did not involve payment with credits. He had no doubt that her intentions would become clear in time.
With nothing but the clothes on his back and the lightsaber clipped to his belt, Padd looked at his two unexpected companions and motioned toward the ship. “Shall we?”
