OBJECTIVE 2
ACAADI

Acaadi didn't have any bright ideas. The situation didn't leave him any mental capacity to think beyond the immediate situation. He was reactive rather than taking the initiative. There were too many rakghouls and they were too close. The slightest mistake and they would drag him - oe Kyra - beneath the surface.

He flipped his second saber into a reverse hand grip. Mentally he drew two defensive circles around himself. His right hand struck out at ghouls further away, his left was reserved for any that got too close.

"I think the sewer tipped the scales," he quipped. A shaft of fear ran through his spine, but he held. When had facing such horrors started to become the norm?

He slashed out with his right, scorching the neck of a ghoul. As another snapped at him he stabbed down with the left, the blue blade skewering its head from the crown to its jaw. Its weight still crashed into him and he bumped into Kyra.

"Open your mind to me!" he called out, as much through the Force as vocally. It wasn't the same as meditating, but if they could fall into that state of immersion with the Force together then they could fight as one. Become an impenetrable wall to the ghouls of perfect synchronisation.

The ex-superstar A-pop idol could not have anticipated engaging such twisted, grotesque creatures in her first real mission.

While she knew of the Bryn'adûl hordes emerging from the depths of Wild Space, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake, she had not expected to fight them, or something creatures like them, so soon. However, the galaxy was chaotic, especially her homeworld, Atrisia. The planet had seen an invasion and a plague within her lifetime, though she had been largely shielded from those events by her handlers at AYP Entertainment. In spite of that singular benefit, Hana had since given up on a career within A-pop and in doing so had left Atrisia to enlist in the Antarian Rangers, to lead a far different life from the one she had led as a debuting trainee in Celestial Girls. Surprisingly, serving within the Antarian Rangers was for the most part, easier than living as a trainee and a debuting idol.

Only now had the difficult part finally arrived.

Hana didn’t need to be told to be ready when she heard the savage snarls and growls emanating within the damp air of the sewers. The noises struck at her nerves, drawing out a lurking sensation of fear that only months before would have made her seek flight. Fortunately, basic training had honed her instincts to those of a soldier. Now, in response to such a threat, her first instinct was to fight.

Her CryoBan rifle was held at the ready, and so when the monsters came, it joined the disharmonious chorus of lightsaber hisses and blaster discharges with the others. While the weapon was relatively short-ranged, the close-quarters of the sewers made that shortcoming a non-factor. Hana fired a pair of shots at the incoming horde, taking down two only moments before one of the Jedi pushed the monsters back with a powerful manifestation of the Force. It was one of the first times the ex-A-pop idol had seen such arcane power on display in person, but she didn’t pause for more than a fraction of a second, seeking to take advantage of the opportunity the Mirialan Jedi had created for her by taking out as many of the mutated monstrosities as possible while they were stuck in a heap of enraged snarls, claws, and teeth. Quickly switching her rifle to the overload mode, Hana fired a rapid succession of shots, the CryoBan flash-freezing the mutants to the core and encasing them in a frozen prison. From there, Hana directed her fire towards the Rakghoul that were close to the medic in the group, in an attempt to cover her fellow Ranger as she moved to assist one of the fallen Jedi...

This was really her fault. She had no excuse for things ending up like this, but at the same time, she hadn't done anything wrong per say. Pausing in the center of the sewers, Mi'la called out once again. "Guys are you here? Hello? Anyone?" Yes, she got distracted on the way here, and now she was separated from her group. If anything this was Cas' fault for not realizing she had gotten los- Okay no, this was entirely her fault. "Feth my life." She lamented, finding a somewhat agreeable rock to sit upon as she tried to think of a way out of here. She just had to walk down that corridor and get lost didn't she? Now here she was in the middle of Rak'Ghoul territory with no idea of where anyone else was.

She looked at the passage she has taken on the way here, and tried to mentally map out where she would have gotten lost from the group. This place was like a labyrinth though, so many twists and turns that seemed to be in no short supply. Sighing, Mi'la stood up, feeling that going back the way she came might make it easier to regroup with everyone. Before ahe got too far ahead however, a light scratching sound echoed from beyond her sight, catching her attention. "Oh please don't be what I think that is..." The padawan muttered, slowly backing up as her mind went to hordes of Rak'Ghouls pouring into this tunnel. Taking several steps back, the sound of glass shattering broke out from under Mi'la's feet, as she had smashed an ancient bottle that someone had left behind.

The sound was magnified by the sewer tunnels, and what sounded like a crash of a half dozen speeders echoed into the tunnel beyond her sight, causing the padawan to wince at her screw up. Taking several steps back, Mi'la had thought she was safe, until that soft scratching turned into a symphony of nails striking a chalk board. Terror seized her by the heart, and caused the Twi'lek to flee, as her mind informed her she had quite literally kicked a hornets nest. Turning to run, she found herself colliding face first into a low hanging pipe, knocking her onto her back, just in time to see the onslaught of Rak'Ghouls that would be upon her. Throwing her hands up over her head, she could only think to try and take the futile position, hoping that maybe it would stave off their attacks.

As the sounds drew closer, she noticed another sound that followed it, low pitched squeaking. Instead of a horse of Rak'Ghouls, it had been hundreds of rodents were amassing and fleeing into whatever escape passages they could find, almost entirely ignoring the Twi'lek as they came through. Mi'la took in a deep breath, sitting up and getting herself away from the living carpet of rats and whatever unpleasant things called this place home. "As gross as this is, I'm just glad there's no Rak'Ghouls." A crazed scream sounded from the other side of the tunnel, prompting that horror to flair up in Mi'la's mind once again. The carpet of rodents dispersed, finding a route of escape from the pursuers that the padawan had unwittingly stirred. "Me and my big mouth." Mi'la muttered, as she turned to run, as she soon learned what the sound of a few dozen Rak'Ghoul sounded like. It was unpleasant to say the least, but if nothing else she had motivation to find the rest of her group.

Objective 2.

She was pinned against a slab of durasteel -- rusted durasteel. Sweat trailing down her forehead. Despite it all, she was holding a Rakghoul impostor at bay with a two-handed lightsaber defense.

Ugh!

"Get...back!"

She palmed her saber staff, released some tension in her arm and gave way for the spawn to come jerking forward -- she jabbed her hilt upward, snapping it under the chin and forcing it back. Rotating her wrist, she spun her emerald blades in a figure eight to put more space between them before punching out with her right hand and severing its left leg. She followed through to end it by puncturing its abdomen in the same stroke.

The monster would lay there squealing until it wasn't.

Sigh

She spun back toward the vibration she felt in the base of her back. Several enormous creatures glided toward her as if they had wings. Cynna got the impression of dank wind and a stabbing flash of verdant lighting from the light above.

"Oh...Kark"

Her lightsaber streamed up to meet the attack. She spun to add force to the parry, and her emerald blade sheered through one limb, but she was stonewalled by the second and forced into a backpedal which would see her collide into a wall in a few seconds.

Ueuhh!

But where she thought she was gonna hit it....she phased right through and fell into some sort of storage closet on the other side. She was still a bit out of wack since she got here...but hell, who was complaining right now?

Palming the switch, she stepped out and whipped around to see Yula Perl Yula Perl

Yula Perl said:
“Man, Taris sucks.”

"Like...literally sucks." she piggybacked.

Amani pushed back against the rakghoul, yelping in surprise as it managed to swipe at the sleeve of her robes. A shot rang past, boring into the mutant’s skull and abruptly dropping it to the ground. “Thank you!” she called out to Mathieu behind her.

With a burst of radiant cyan, Amani ignited her weapon, revealing the staff’s secondary function as a lightsaber pike. Spinning it around and taking a stance, she quickly checked where the rakghoul had attacked, just overhearing Cas’s comment, “You and me both.” No scratch. Only just made it through the fabric. With a sigh, the padawan thanked the Force and quickly refocused on the battle at hand. Two more charged in their direction, and Amani lanced her pike forward, skewering them both on the blade before summoning it back to her hand.

Though they had managed to keep most of the horde at bay, the group became more split, straining their efforts as more rakghouls began to slip through. As the Jedi continued to cut through them, a new figure caught her eye: among the swarm of hunched, mindless monsters was a Force signature. Standing much more upright than the rest, a nekghoul. Intelligent, dangerous, and Force sensitive. Amani threw her weapon again, putting all her attention on getting rid of it as soon as possible, but it actually caught the pike, spinning it forward and approaching the front lines quickly. “This is a joke, right?”

The nekghoul swung down heavy with the pike, forcing Amani to sidestep the attack, countering with several force-enhanced palm strikes. Truth be told, she was a better martial artist than duelist, but punching this thing seemed to be a lot less productive than stabbing it. “Big guy’s here! Keep an eye out for any more!” The nekghoul swung horizontally, forcing her to duck down. With a burst of the Force, she shoved the creature back, creating some distance for her to properly square up.

"As if I know how to close it!" Came the stressed response. She clamped down on the urge to panic, her conviction to be better than that ringing through her core. Getting better started with practice. She caught a rakghoul across the face, trying not to think about how those blue eyes looked just like Nida's...

Her mind stretched out, tentative and clumsy as she worked at the unfamiliar techniques. It was harder trying to do it intentionally. Thankfully, her was there to meet her, their familiar bond taking over as their minds melded. Kyra gasped, both their breaths echoing through their minds. Four legs, three arms, fear, determination-- they shared it all.

She could have almost gotten lost in it, her senses overwhelmed. Acaadi was better than that, and it was his lead that shocked her back to the present and grounded her into something of a vague balance.

The rakghoul's grew impatient, three lashing out at Acaadi in sync. Their attack flashed across the back of her eyelids. She turned just in time to catch the spare one on her saber. Acaadi beat back the other two. The light-sided aura of her saber sent blisters across the sith-spawns flesh, a fact which threaten to turn her stomach as she kicked it back...

But once again, Acaadi grounded her. He always did.

Her brows sharpened in determination, the force flashing a warning about an attack on their backs. She turned, catching it in time with a stab the infected creature through the bottom of its jaw. As the Rakghoul's assaults picked up tempo, so did the fluidity of the two jedi.

The awkwardness of it melted away, and soon, the bodies piled up.

It was unfortunate, the angle he'd gotten stuck under the one rakghoul corpse, piled in amongst the others he'd tripped over. He didn't have any leverage, couldn't really get anything solid to push against to try and lift the rakghoul off himself. It didn't help that it was larger than he was; still, he kept trying, unwilling to get eaten. Until somebody came along and shoved it off.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm standing—" as he stood, one rakghoul got sliced, and another got shot. He raised his blaster and shot a third, before catching full view of the one who'd saved him from becoming rakghoul lunch.

Oh yeah. Everything's coming up Marus.

"Thanks for that," he said, flashing her a smile. "So, do you come here often? Lovely little vacation spot if you don't." He was completely oblivious to the presence of Cas right next to them. Not to the rakghouls, though; he raised his blaster, taking another one down that tried to run up to him and Inara.

"As you can tell, the local wildlife is very friendly and playful. An extremely social species. And just look at the scenery!"

With everything sort of in order, it was best to return his concentration back to the front - but before making his way back, he had one last thing to say "Spit game when we don't have a hoard of 'Ghouls on us!" directing his comment at Marus. Making his way back, the Jedi Knight cleared through a small hoard - swinging his lightsaber in all kinds of complicated directions, cutting through the sickly bodies of the Rakghouls. As he did so, he couldn't help but wander where Mi'la was? She was supposed to be here.

Sure that the rest could sense what he did, another presence in the Force was nearby, turning to find what the hell it was he was sensing. His eyes nearly bulged out at the sight of the Nekghoul "Why?" he quietly grumbled to himself as he watched it pass through the collective. With his attention on the Nekghoul, he neglected to notice the Rakghoul that had tried to sneak up on him - not enough time to counter with his lightsaber, the Jedi raised his left arm up, tanking a bite with his cybernetic arm - despite only denting the arm's casing, it still hurt as if his organic arm was bitten.

Grunting through the pain, he dropped his lightsaber into his free hand and cut through its abdomen with a reverse grip. Wincing slightly, he shook his metal arm off before rushing over to Amani who had managed to clear some distance between her and the Nekghoul. Standing beside her with his lightsaber at the ready, he glanced at the Mirialan with a smirk "Need a hand?" before returning his attention to the Nekghoul as it regained its bearings.

"No sweat!" he hollered upon being thanked. It would soon become obvious enough that the shot may not have been needed as the staff's secondary - or perhaps primary - function was revealed. Mathieu liked the idea of the weapon as the staff functionality would allow it to be used in a non-lethal way more easily than a normal lightsabre.

Since Kei had made the estimation that there were roughly ten rakghouls per person, he, the medic and Cas had all left to aid the loner in the distance but for the moment, it seemed like Amani and himself were holding rather well - especially considering how efficient a pike was in a situation where touching was bad. Still it was quite the struggle - but one made much easier with the arrival of the woman with the rifle. She was bringing some sorely needed firepower which would help immensely when facing overwhelming numbers.

The large Morellian couldn't help but to notice the oddly intelligent rakghoul-esque creature which appeared - if his memory served him right it was called a Nekghoul in the stories. The fact that they were real scared him. What amplified that was the fact that the creature had caught Amani's sabre-staff for its own use. Knowing that she was probably the more adept fighter between them, seeing as he was still rather new to the whole Jedi-thing, Mathieu tossed her his practice sword, knowing that it could at least resist a lightsabre for a little bit. "Nono, back to basics!" he responded, surprisingly cheerfully.

Turning away for so long was a mistake, however. A rakghoul jumped him from the right where his now unarmed hand was. Fortunately, he managed to shove his stun baton over to that side, just in time to prevent the creature from biting down on his arm. Quickly pulling out his blaster, he fired another two shots at it before turning his attention to another one - this time repeating the pattern of fending it off with his baton before shooting it with the blaster. With both Cas and Amani focusing on the Nekghoul, Mathieu certainly hoped that Kei and the others would return soon - for the incoming horde of rakghouls was becoming increasingly difficult to deal with.

He had danced through Rakghouls, dealing with his own problems.

He could only presume that his kill count was growing into double digits, if not more. His smokey ash blade had cleaved through the Sithspawn in front of him. His only goal was to cover Marus Saretti Marus Saretti long enough for the young Jedi to get to the pack and get safe.

He was backing up slowly, Rakghouls closing in on him. He couldn't hold the area on his own, and Marus was gone. He wasn't sure what had happened to the young Jedi, but he was no-where to be seen. It meant he was the only body holding the area.

Pointless effort.

He chose to abandon the area, allow them to close on the bigger group. He was backing off for that reason, drawing the Rakghouls towards the main pack, the doctors and Mathieu and Cas and the rest of the gang. That was his main goal, get everyone together.

The group was right behind him, and he felt his back press against Mathieu. The kid was pretty tall for his age, and by the look of it he seemed to know how to hold his own in a fight. He seemed to be surviving pretty well, and having Kei watching his back would be of use.

"Hey kid, if we survive this, I got a question for you"

He saw Cadere Cadere and Amani Serys Amani Serys fighting a Nekghoul, a creature he had read about but never seen. He had his own problems however, the group of Rakghouls he had dragged towards them, that he had dragged to the group who would hopefully help fight them.

Inara's finger jumped back to the trigger of her rifle, but not quite fast enough. But the Rakghoul went down fast, taken out by Cas Tynen. She let out an audible breath, and flashed the Knight an appreciative look, mouthing the words 'thank you.'

And then another ghoulish beast was hit by her fellow Ranger, Private Park.

She lifted her chin slightly at the other Ranger woman, a gesture of thanks. And then, the man she'd saved from the pile of dead rakghouls started to chat her up in a rather peculiar way. Nevertheless, she offered the man, Marus, a tight but genial smile.

“You know, I think I've seen quite enough of the scenery,” Inara said, eyeing the man – but more assessing him for any injuries than checking him out. The way he'd screeched, she'd have thought that he'd been bitten. But he seemed just fine, much to her relief. And unlike before, he displayed some competence with a blaster and shot an approaching rakghoul.

“What the--” she started, eyes wide at the strange nekghoul that approached. There was definitely more than an inkling of intelligence behind it's dead eyes, which was much more than she could say for the mindless zombie-like creatures they'd been fighting.

Amani and Cas had taken on the frightening ghoul, and Inara steeled herself for whatever was to come. Taking a breath, she squeezed the trigger again and again, injuring – but not completely stopping some of the advancing horde that Kei had drawn back towards the larger group.

Deep down, she started to wonder if her first assignment might well be her last...

Hana’s covering fire seemed to be effective enough for the moment, presumably lending the previously fallen Jedi enough time to seemingly flirt with the Ranger medic in the midst of a veritable horde of snarling mutants who were quickly frozen in place by the CryoBan discharges from her rifle. Unfortunately, Hana couldn’t sustain her fire indefinitely, especially with her rifle set to the overload mode. Nevertheless, she managed to take out four more of them before being forced to set her attention closer with the incoming advance of a large, pale-skinned beast which seemed to be a different strain of mutant than the others that comprised the inexorable horde. The green-skinned Jedi threw her pike at it, only for the beast to catch and brandish the Jedi’s weapon as if it were a trained duelist.

Perhaps it had been in another life.

Regardless, when the Jedi swept it back with another manifestation of the Force, Hana didn’t hesitate to seize the initiative while the beast recovered from the telekinetic blow. The diminutive Ranger immediately loosed a rapid succession of three shots from her CryoBan rifle, but the creature merely absorbed the first two discharges, managing to keep itself and the surrounding environment warm through some arcane application of the Force, even amidst a concentrated assault of ultracold CryoBan. However, her third shot was marginally more effective, briefly encasing the creature’s lower body in ice which would force it to strain in order to break it, hopefully opening it up for an attack from one of the many Jedi in the group.

In order to facilitate that, Hana held her fire for the moment, only to pause when she spotted another Jedi running towards the group, with a large swarm of the howling monsters pursuing in his wake, stating the obvious as Jedi always did when he joined the group.

Fortunately, Hana had plenty of weapons on her person. Pulling the pin on one of her Hydra grenades, Hana tossed it at the incoming tide of Rakghoul, seeking to stun them en masse in order to halt their advance.

Unfortunately, faced with the chaos of the snarling horde that was quickly closing in on the group, Hana hadn’t lent any thought to the obvious danger that the interaction between electricity and the water in the sewer would also present to herself and her squadmates before throwing the grenade...

Objective 3: False charities

"Now that's some nice work being done to ensure the comfort of the refugees. Could you please give me access to the bank statements?"

"Yes"

In the bank statements, there seemed to be a lot of fund transfers between banks, and it usually came from their bank account on Iokath to the bank account on Taris, but sometimes in reverse. And it wasn't even a regular bank structure for a charity, where there usually were as many bank accounts as there were funds on their financial statements. It also seems that there were some shell companies that may have provided some donations, and operated out of Iokath since there was no "cost of goods sold" to speak of, and hence no excise, when my staff pored over their financial statements on Iokath, plus their balance sheets contained cash as their only assets, and retained earnings as their only equity, no expenses other than payments to Purple Shift since their bank accounts waived maintenance fees when their balances exceed a certain amount, she thought, while reviewing the implications for the Purple Shift's balance sheet - the issue was more about their donors, these shell corporations on Iokath, than what the Purple Shift actually do with the money: it otherwise seemed to be in order for taking care of refugees.

"How can you explain that your main donors seem to be companies that only have cash for assets, and retained earnings for equity?"

Objective 2: Contain Infestation + Collect Samples for new treatment.
Location: Lucky Pine Mega Aparment Complex, Undercity
With: Charlie Nooran Charlie Nooran , Auteme Auteme

Jyoti nodded at Charlie, who certainly appeared ready for the operation. Over the years, her daughter had come a long way from the awkward girl she had found on a reclusive monastery on Tython. She was capable, now comfortable operating on her own while Jyoti had retired for a while. The Echani considered that the time was soon coming that it may even be time for Knighthood.

She was almost ready, perhaps one or two more tests just to make sure.

Her companion (friend, battle buddy?) Auteme seemed competent as well. That was good - the Jedi Master wasn't here to babysit anyone like they were her apprentices. The operation was serious business that wasn't for the faint of heart.

"Hopefully the current batch of serum will work this time around," she told Auteme. "But with fresh genetic samples for Panacea's new treatment, we may never have to worry about that again."

The traditional method for developing a serum was a process of extracting plasma and antibodies from a person infected with a weakened strain of a Rhakghoul virus, but this was lengthy process, and quite dangerous for the volunteer. Meanwhile, Panacea had a medical kits that could generate macromolecules in real time to target and destroy the virus no matter the mutations in DNA and RNA, but the governing AI was still under training. Fresh, live samples would certainly help speed up the training.

Her helmet's earpiece buzzed to life as one of the ground teams took to the comms. Before they could speak, she heard a cacophony of blaster fire and earsplitting bestial shrieks that left her wincing.

"Breach in sector G11," the Tarisan officer yelled. "Lucky Pine Apartment Complex! Bastards are pouring out of the sewers through the basement levels! We need rein---arrrgh!"

There was more yelling and blaster fire before the thud of one body colliding with another. Those same horrible shrieks again, followed by wet tearing sounds.

"Pilot, did you get that?! Get us to G11 now!"

"Yes ma'am!"

The pilot jerked hard on the yoke, rolling the blastboat to snap the ship onto a new trajectory. It was a good thing for artificial gravity and inertial compensators or everyone not strapped to their seats would be barreling all over the decks.

"We'll be there in two minutes."

"Slight change of plans," she informed Charlie and Auteme. "We need to plug a new breach into the Undercity before it gets out of hand. The ghouls have emerged within an apartment complex, so that means CQC among civilians."

Definitely the worst scenario. Not only would that have to contend with Rhakghoul in very tight quarters, but they would have to do it while being mindful of the people around, undoubtedly panicking and acting stupid out of fear.

"As soon as we're in range, deploy the droid pods." she ordered the bridge "Direct them to establish a perimeter around the complex and roofs and then work their way inside. Call on additional reinforcements ( Gir Quee Gir Quee )."

As they neared their destination, the large bay doors in the passenger area slid open, revealing the bleak duracrete expanse that was the Undercity. She could pick out Lucky Pines from yellow neon sign that cut through the haze of the smoggy skies, several letters flickering. On other planets, the huge complex would have been classified as a skyscraper, reaching up well beyond the levels of the Undercity. That was a serious problem, as the mega structure provided a viable bridge to the upper levels of city.

Behind her visor, she narrowed her eyes at the main street beside the apartment, where she could make out the flashes of blaster fire and several moving masses. That was a good place as to start.

"Going down," she called out to everyone. "Get those pods out ASAP."

She didn't wait for the ship to get low enough to rappel down, she pushed out of the open bay with one foot and launched herself toward the ground like a bullet. At her speed, she should have been flattened like a pancake, but in the last moments she flipped her foot downward and cushioned her fall with the Force, silent as a pindrop as she landed on the ball of one foot. She in turn bounded off this foot into a full sprint, wasting no time to get into the action.

There had only been a window of a few seconds between her drop from the blastboat to the ground, but it was enough to form a picture. A few handfuls of local security forces and armed civilians were now engaged by several dozens of Rhakghoul pouring out of the ground entrance to the complex. Without intervention, they were sure to be overrun.

Focusing on the largest concentration ghouls, still emerging from the entrance, she unsnapped a cryo grenade from her bandolier and chucked it at the pack. Assisted by telekinesis, the grenade hurdled toward them at blinding speed before exploding into a white mist of cryoban as it hit the center of their group. Startled, the ghouls tried to disperse from the epicenter of the blast, but only made it a few steps before they were frozen in place on the steps.

While grabbing another grenade, she unclipped her lightsaber as she skidded to a halt. With a snap-hiss, a silvery shaft of light erupted from the wood paneled hilt of Sitara. Several Rhakghouls on the street, previously focused on attacking the officers and civilians, began to stampede toward her, attracted to the crystals of her lightsaber that resonated strongly within the Force.

Mindless as they were, the Sithspawn were still animated with purpose.

To snuff out the light.

There was a bridge between them that Kyra could never close off. Now, as they turned towards that, it was no longer a bridge. The realm on either side moved until they were together. One sphere of awareness, one body. They had never used this to fight before.

A ghouls came at him, snarling and swiping. He ducked below its strike. A blue blade snapped out and caught it across the face. It was Kyra's and not his own.

He coiled around Kyra's body, stabbing out at another ghouls. His two blades pierced its chest and then he sent it tumbling back through its horde with a telekenetic push.

More of them fell and then Acaadi sensed a change in the flow of battle. They were fighting across a field littered with corpses, no longer splashing but trying not to trip on the bodies. The attack waned until they finished the last few.

More of the beasts were close, but they were now looking for an easier route to the surface. Back to back, they were left gasping for air and with the realisation of what they had done.

//: Jyoti Nooran Jyoti Nooran //: Auteme Auteme //:

Charlie shifted where she stood as she listened to Jyoti explain the process of how they were going to obtain the samples. A part of the explanation went over her head. While she was a smart girl, her intelligence didn't rest where her former Master's was. Charlie knew combat; she understood how much Force it took for the weapon she wielded to crush her enemy's skull. Charlie understood strategy, not molecular structures of boogers. Each Jedi had their strength, and Charlie's was applied a bit more literally.

Having Auteme here put the Seoulian on edge. Charlie liked knowing that Auteme was back in a library somewhere, and the worst that could happen to her was a bonked knee or a datapad shelf falling on her. Being bitten and ravaged by a Rakghoul made the Padawan uneasy. Feelings she didn't fully comprehend and while she would usually inquire about how she was feeling to Jyoti - the Jedi seemed a bit more preoccupied. Seeing Auteme, though, was lovely, she appreciated the other padawan's support. "Stay close to me, Auteme."

Charlie felt it was necessary to protect the usually non-combative padawan. She waited and listened to Jyoti give the low down of what was happening. Things were getting worse, and there was a hint of delight from the K'paur girl. She had hoped this wasn't going to be a boring excursion where she stood guard as the two nerds gathered samples. A smile reached Charlie's eyes as she watched Jyoti jump into the fray, the grace of a Grandmaster and the Shadow disappeared. Looking at Auteme, she smiled and grabbed the other padawan's hand.

"Here we go!"

Jyoti had drawn their attention, and as much as Charlie wanted to nose dive into the stampeding sithspawn, she had Auteme with her. Instead, she followed the other Jedi's trajectory and used the Force to help balance the pair of them to land safely. Landing, Charlie quickly let go of Auteme's hand and found the comfort of her hammers' leatherbound grips. The sonic infused weapons fed from the girl's strength in the Force, and she charged forward.

Lifting both hammers above her head, she empowered her lithe figure with the strength of the light and slammed the hammers downward, causing a shockwave to clap through them, throwing them off balance and drawing more attention to the trio. Excitement filled her face as she watched the rakghouls stumble and tossed about, then more became concerned with the newcomers. "How many are there, Master?" Being in the field, Charlie quickly reverted back to her former position as the Echani's padawan despite her independence level.

"Are we going to be able to rescue any of the civilians, or are we assuming they're all infected?" It bothered Charlie, knowing that everyone here could die; she hoped they could save someone.

Amani caught the practice sword, and looked back to Mathieu, “Thank you! Again!” She twirled the weapon in hand, finding her comfort with it, and taking another stance. Normally, a situation like this would have had her shaking with fear, but things had changed recently. Amani felt confident, resolute, not to mention the many allies she had around her were a great plus as well. This particular jedi had places to go after the job here was done. In her mind, she knew they weren’t going to die, simply because she was too stubborn to allow it.

Just gotta finish up here. Then it’s straight to Tython.

With Cas at her side, Amani responded with a smirk of her own, “Be my guest.” The nekghoul snarled, seemingly ready to charge when it was distracted by a trio of CryBan shots, courtesy of Ranger Hana. It shrugged of the first two, but the third found its mark, encasing the mutant’s legs. That was their opening. “Now!” Amani urged Cas, running forward to intercept the immobilized nekghoul. It thrusted the pike forward, forcing her to parry with the practice blade. Following up with a counter, she struck its arm, sending enough of a shock to make it drop her weapon, “I’ll take that!”

One leg broke through the ice, followed shortly after by another, but the pause was enough to give them a distinct advantage. With the nekghoul now weaponless, and her fellow Jedi outflanking, they could begin to harry it with attacks from all sides. Amani took her pike back and struck with wide, graceful attacks, beginning to wear the creature down. She looked back to Cas, “Let’s finish this quick.”

Walking the corridor leading to the old Jedi Archives of the derelict Academy, Caedyn's fingers trailed along the engravings of the nearby wall, his mind distance while his droid companion walked alongside him completely unaware of the sentiment behind their visiting such an old and abandoned ruin of the past.

These sorts of times were often difficult to stave off the feeling of helplessness, and despite his training and years of experience today, Caedyn was very much the kind of man whom felt his emotions strongly, wearing his heart on his sleeve, so to speak. Being present there, and knowing what the facility had once been, what it had once stood for and the many it had once housed...-It was just one of the many changes that had come from centuries of conflict waged across their Galaxy.

"According to my readings, we are at the desired coordinates, Master Arenais" Lexas announced, while Caedyn himself glanced up overhead of the entrance into the next section of the Academy, a great sign displaying the words "Archives" covered in dust. It was almost a comical moment, had it not been for the mood that presently hung over him.

"Well done, Lex" Caedyn smiled to the droid, congratulating him so that his friend felt acknowledged; "Now we're just needing to locate the Holocron Vault" the Jedi Knight added as they entered quietly into the great library, rows upon rows of data-cards, chips and vids lining the various sections upon either side of them, Caedyn walking slowly down the center lane, gazing from side to side with inquisitive eyes.

"This was once a place of great study, a yearning for knowledge and carrying much of our Order's history through all that it could offer the Padawan here..." Caedyn said with a sense of remorse, "I wonder what happened to end the Academy's days of service".

OBJECTIVE TWO

"We get to visit all the best places," Acaadi said to Kyra. "I actually thought this was the sewer."

It wasn't the sewer. It was the lower levels of Taris. Places that only those with no place to go with inhabit. They smelled just as bad as a sewer. It was fortunate that they weren't densely populated or else the plague would have been out of control by now.

Acaadi was feeling ready to become a full Jedi Knight. This mission involved facing up to demons from his past.

There were many experiences that haunted his dreams. He knew that to be a Knight he had to be ready to face up to any of them. He had been trapped below ground with sith spawn before, fighting his way to freedom.

If he managed today then he felt that his final challenge was to meet a sith in battle once more and to stand his ground. These were all personal battles. Acaadi had explained some of this logic to Kyra on the way here.

"I hear fighting."

Acaadi usually wore light clothing so he could move freely. Today we wore armour across most of his body. Better to be a little slower than to catch a claw and end up infected with the plague.

Kyra's departure from Silver Rest had been abrupt and unexplained to most on the outside, but it was not a departure from the order. Despite her conviction to turn shadow and infiltrate The Sith Empire alongside Thirdas Heavenshield , she was still someone's padawan, child, and friend.

Caedyn Arenais had been in close contact with his padawan. The mission to locate Nida was a long and complex one, and a home base had been established. At his bequest, Kyra had taken a break from her fruitless search with Thirdas Heavenshield to come accompany her peers at Taris. It was a training moment, Kyra knew her Master wanted nothing but to help prepare her for what lay ahead.

He supported her mission. Even if it was emotion-riddled and foolishly dangerous. He knew better than to try and direct her off course. They had struck this compromise-- one they could both live with. And so here she was.

All she could think about was how she wanted to be back out there, shuffling through Odesson's underworld trying to scrounge up answers.

Her metal hand twitched, then reached out to tuck her padawan braid behind her ear. Acaadi had his stolen saber back, but he did not have answers about the night she had cut off her own dud arm. No one did. Kyra didn't want to talk, she just wanted to move. She had listened quietly as Acaadi confessed his goal for today.

His reminder of Kintan and the tunnels they had been trapped in brought goosebumps across her flesh. He had fought sith spawn. She had fought Darth Prazutis , at lease one of them could resolve their fears today. She resisted the urge to take his hand, the sounds of fighting reaching her too.

Her new saber flew into her left hand, her right still too... clumsy, compared the to non-dominate hand she had been forced to use while downed. Ironically. The hue of Caedyn Arenais gifted hand-me down lit up the dark path of street around them, reflecting of the black body suit she wore. Neither of them looked like themselves here. The under belly of Tarish did indeed smell like a sewer. She crinkled her nose, gesturing onwards. "Then let's go."

She walked first, a buffer for Acaadi and the fears he had to face. She hadn't been there for him on Kintan, a wall of rock had separated them. She hadn't been there for him on Yurb, his fighting quadrant prevented it. They hadn't been there for each other time over time again, but that all changed today.
Kyra Perl Kyra Perl

The fighting couldn't be far away. He heard a loud shot ring out, followed by the sounds of the rakghouls. He had seen some archive footage of them. They had once been people, twisted by a sith plague. That made them even worse that sith spawn made by twisting animals to him.

Acaadi had also thought about how long it had been since they had fought side by side. He had wondered if it had been fate or because of how badly everything had gone when they had been making the decisions. When the trandoshan had been broken free. They weren't the same people as back then. That was the point.

He kept the shorter saber at his belt. Acaadi was still blissfully unaware of exactly why she had borrowed it. He kept the other in his right hand, but the blade was off.

He sensed the encroaching darkness, tilting his head to one side. There was a scratching sound. It came from below.

"Ky..." he managed before the ground beneath his feet crumbled away.

He didn't fall far, landing in water on his back. The pack of ghouls leapt on him from all angles. He was in the sewers. They were going to rip his armor apart in seconds. Panic flared up from deep within, but he pressed it down.

Acaadi took a breath and dropped himself into the space between heartbeats. A jedi was fast, but they needed to be able to think at superhuman speeds too. Time seemed to slow.

He looked up. Kyra was already looking down through the hole he had fallen through. She was so fast now. There were six rakghouls around him, more coming from further down the tunnel. Acaadi could sense his saber several meters away in the water. Acaadi closed his hand into a fist and drew the Force to him.

Time sped back up. Or at least his perception of it. He had simply meditated in a way that compressed his thought into that half a second of time. The Force exploded outwards in a wave of telekinetic energy, sending the ghouls flying.

Acaadi stood sharply. Activating the shorter blade of his left hand saber, as he drew the other one to him with the Force. He was surrounded, but at least now he was on his feet and armed.

Kyra gasped, a scream catching in her throat as she turned to find Acaadi falling out from under her. This was not helping him! Her hand reached out, a faint attempt tug him back up made through the metal limb. Her father had told her it was a conduit, imbued to make her stronger in the force. He did not mention how hard it would be to control the force through it. It was like trying to scratch an itch with oven mitts on!

The bite of frustration was fleeting, lasting longer in her thoughts than in real time. Acaadi burst out of the water, shoving the the encroaching horde back with a strong telekinetic wave. It was impressive. A noise of frustration hit her as she tried to pull him out again, very little happening beyond her metal finger tips. Dammit there wasn't time for this!

She seemed to dismiss her attempts at once, not willing to treat these streets like a training room as she jumped down with him instead. Ew ew ew! She did not let her thoughts linger on what they stood in, their backs brushing. "This is not an ideal place to be," she chirped, her voice pulling higher as the first sith spawn came leaping towards her.

The holograms didn't do them justice. Terror flashed through her as she cut through it with a simple twirl. The once-was human dropped dead in the water. Kyra felt a quake hit her core, her back brushing against Acaadi's again.

"On second thought, I'd take the sith lord again," she concluded, their age old game of who had had it worse that day on Kintan resolved in a heart beat. Her heart slammed fast in her chest. She took a steadying breath, the death of the first creature enough to hold back the others as they fell in and surrounded them with hungry, crazed eyes. Kyra worked with Acaadi to keep all angles of them covered, the water slooshing underneath their footwork.

"You didn't happen to pay attention to the sith spawn class did you?" Cause Kyra sure didn't. She'd kick herself over that later, for now... "Any brilliant ideas?"

OBJECTIVE 2

Thankfully, he was there to meet her, their familiar bond taking over as their minds melded. Kyra gasped, both their breaths echoing through their minds. Four legs, three arms, fear, determination-- they shared it all.

Weird weird weird-- ugh, which one of them had to pee? These were the first thoughts to grace Kyra as she pulled a bit from the mind meld, her sword arm shaking with a burst of healthy adrenaline.

"Crazy," she breathed, saying nothing more. And she wouldn't have to. Her sentiment over what they had done rang unhindered through them both, the girl yanking her foot out from under the heavy body of a dead ghoul. They had never fought that well before-- usually things went wrong. But not a single flash of pain echoed across either of them. Somehow she was confident neither had risked an infected scratch.

They had done it.

A soft laugh fell from her then, her tension melting into a puff of relief. This must be what Romi Jade Romi Jade felt like . She looked up at him, a half grin caught in the corner of her lips. "Can you jump up?" She asked, casting a glance to the deep hole they had fallen through. Her arm was sore from the extended fight, but the muscles for her non-dominant hand would come in time. What mattered now was getting to the streets, where they could protect others from the infection that would take their lives.

Cas grinned as Mathieu tossed Amani his practice sword "You got one for me, Matty?!" he quipped before returning his attention to the Nekghoul. Gripping his lightsaber with both hands, his grasp tightened as he rushed toward the now incapacitated creature, thanks to the CryoBan shots fired by the Ranger - Cas quickly flashed her a smile of thanks.

As the Nekghoul focused its attack on Amani, Cas took the opportunity to leap, somersaulting over to the beast's right flank. With Amani in front and Cas to its side, they could efficiently take it out together as the Kiffar complimented the Mirialan's attacks with a swift flurry of strikes from his lightsaber, while acrobatically evading any attacks thrown at him.

And finally, with a grin he replied "Took the words right outta my mouth." before dealing a final blow on the Nekghoul. The Knight, speedily swung his amber blade and dismembered its arm at the shoulder and with a twirl of his lightsaber, Cas thrust his lightsaber into the beast's side until it ended at his hilt. If that didn't finish the Nekghoul off, he was sure Amani would.

With the creature now stopped, he slanted his shoulders and began panting. Running his flesh hand through his dreads, he looked at the Padawan with a smile "I have a good feeling about this." referring to the battle, although, he hoped he hadn't just jinxed it. Returning his attention to the defence, Cas would make his way over to Kei in hopes of aiding him with the other Rakghouls that had followed him.
