One of the strongest known wounds in the Force was the planet Nathema, at least before the final death of the Sith Emperor Vitiate/Valkorion. Nathema's void was so powerful that Valkorion used it as a prison for his strongest enemies, who found themselves unable to use the Force there. The Sherec Expanse is the mark of an unrecorded tragedy. Its Force wound functions much like the equivalent on Nathema.
Feeling or using the Force is extremely difficult or impossible throughout the Sherec Expanse. There appears to be less of the Force to call upon, making abilities weaker. With extreme concentration, a Master might be able to exert the influence of a Knight.
Non-Force-sensitives feel no different in the Sherec Expanse; the mildly-attuned might feel a constant chill. Trained Force-users tend to feel ill at ease, and their instincts will betray them. Jorus Merrill, for example, has zero sense of direction while in the Expanse. He finds it a useful place to practice orienteering and other secular skills, though he doesn’t like it much. By and large, Darksiders feel less uncomfortable than Lightsiders, but it’s not a friendly place for Forcers in general.
POINTS OF INTEREST
The Sharuka have never had much of a connection to the Force. This is why.
The Sharu and a Rakatan general concluded a minor war here, on what was then a peripheral Sharu colony. The Rakata and their Force Hounds eradicated a cadre of Sharu Force-users in a cataclysm that stained the Sharu heritage permanently. The scar of that event was twofold: the Force is weak with the Sharuka, and the Sherec Expanse remains a wound in the Force, even dozens of millennia later.
Later, during the time of the Republic, humans colonized Zonju V. They paid little attention to the crumbling ruins that dotted the planet, except where the ruins offered useful shelter (such as the capital city, Zoronhed). Far from the landing sites, the Sherec Expanse remained largely ignored. Various gangs took up residence out there over the centuries, largely because Jedi didn’t seem to like the place.

- Size: Medium - An area that can be renewed/realigned but not destroyed, can be expansive and powerful.
- Accessibility: There’s nothing especially hidden about the Sherec Expanse. It’s a large, remote region on Zonju V, starting two thousand kilometers north of Zoronhed. It’s not guarded or concealed, it’s just not well-known.
- Description: The Sherec Expanse is a large region of cool, arid territory, a rocky desert of sorts. Occasional pre-Republic Sharu/Sharukan ruins can be found throughout the area, hence its name. An ancient wound in the Force, comparable to a smaller and less absolute version of Nathema’s corruption, permeates the area.

POINTS OF INTEREST
- Jiggs Crucible -- A small town dominated by the Red Nest swoop gang, Jiggs Crucible is just about the closest thing to civilization. It makes its living off moisture vaporators and (very carefully) farming Zonju cave cacti for the anesthetic known as cave sap or cactus juice. Jiggs Crucible is built around a rare oasis. It's also the closest thing you'll find to a spaceport.
- None. There are various small fortified enclaves and villages (rating: Average), generally run by swoop gangs who like that the Sherec Expanse keeps ORC Judges off balance. The Expanse as a whole is unsecured and lawless.
