The Silent War: Tatooine (PM to join)

[youtube]https://youtu.be/zV-P1xa8rGI[/youtube]

Dorin stood on the bluffs overlooking the sandy valley below. His new ship, The Revenant, sat about fifty yards from him. He sighed quietly. This was the place. He couldn't explain why, but...it filled him with dread. Not because of some residual dark side energy (Which there was plenty of), but because of what he might find here. A ship that knew the secret to immortality? There was no way such a vessel could exist. The Sith had been looking for ways to cheat death for millennia. If they had found one, he thought it would be more well known. He scanned the surrounding bluffs again, looking for any sign of the stronghold. He wasn't surprised that he didn't immediately see it. As he understood it, it was designed to be discreet. And even then, he had thousands of years worth of entropy to contend with.

He closed his eyes for a moment, rubbing his left hand in an attempt to soothe the tremor. A soft wind picked up, whipping sand around him. It became stronger, and Dorin looked up to see another ship. Someone had responded to his message. He closed his eyes again as he removed his visor, and pulled his helmet into place. He opened his eyes again as the vacuum seals locked into place. He strode over to the ship, and waited at the bottom of the boarding ramp, a respectful distance away.

There was a gnawing thought at the back of his mind. What if the Sith came after him? Tried to take the secret of immortality for themselves? Could he trust anyone that came to his aid? He had to. Something was telling him he couldn't do this alone. Something was out there. That, he could feel at the back of his mind, clawing its way to his conscious thought. The Spectres came from somewhere. And where ever they came from, it was still out there. Undiscovered. Hidden from the galaxy, free to strike at whoever, and whatever they pleased.

He just hoped he could figure out a way to lure them out. Find a way to hunt them...

The scanners flared to show the ship and life form below them. Avin signaled the pilot to put the ship down and made his way back into the living space that held his old master and friend.

"Star, it looks like we have found the place. The pilot is putting us down now grab your things, I've got a strange feeling about this place."

The area that she sat in was nicely decorated, as to be expected for a royal shuttle, yet the normal lavishments had been stripped away. By the looks of things, the Imahalayan Queen didn't seem to care about such things since the battle. He wished he could have been there to help, to protect her as he had promised in those years past, but no he had been on republic duty sat in a temple on the other side of the galaxy. Alas, he was here now and his mission was clear even if he was yet to make it so to his friend. He would follow his orders and ensure the existence of such artifacts either didn't exist or didn't fall into the hands of a Sith.

Avin walked through to the crate where his own equipment had been stored, as we walked he heard a pneumatic hiss of landing gear springing from the bottom of the vessel and connecting with the ground a few moments later. Reaching his crate the Jedi put on his thicker brown robe and clipped the utility belt around his waist. Finally, Avin reached over and placed a pair of goggles around his neck.

The door hissed for a few moments as the landing ramp extended down towards the robed figure below. As the shimmering silver doors moved apart Avin felt the influx of sand into the loading area. He took a few steps into its direction before waiting for his partner. The whirring of sub-light engines slowly came to an end as they powered down and the sand started to calm a little.

Avin peered down the ramp while waiting for his partner. He could make out a figure waiting for them at the bottom Avin tried to make out features through the sand but struggled with the winds still blowing through.

Vulpesen's eyes darted around the land around him, viewing the sand of Tattooine's barren surface. It was an odd feeling that coursed through his veins as he approached the valley. So natural and vast with thousands of miles untouched bythe corruption of civilization. And yet... it all felt dead. Thre wasn't life around for miles, save a few insexcts and small lizards that he could feel skittering beneath the sand away from the sun. Plant life was simply a joke, and an impossibility given the constant sand storms and less than constant offering of rain.

When the message had passed through Vitae command to his desk, all the Valde could do was shrug and head off to get prepared. Possible immortality? Something hunting the jedi and sith? It was right up his alley as a force anomaly. And who better to check it out than the man who had been to hell and back, had seen the afterlife, and granted second life to another race.

Catching sight of the man who had sommoned him, Vulpesen made his way over to [member="Dorin Arkx"], his hands folded calmly infront of him. "So youre the one who tipped us off. Vulpesen Torrevaso, a pleasure to meet you." He felt a shuffling in his pocket as Ace popped out, his head tilting as he looked at Doren for himself, the astral blue ashlan measuring the man with a curious look. The whir of engines momentarily took his attention, and looking over, Vulpesen couldn't help but smile as he sensed a familair presence, as well as the life force of another. "And it seems we have company."

Immortality, at one time stardust attempted to obtain it, she had gotten so close and with her current way she had it but yet...even with that she truely wasnt immortal at all...now hearing of these rumors about something to make a person immortal not to mention the source of these spectres she had fought and maybe take them out once and for all. Look down at the message again she looked up hearing her closest friend and nodded as she stood armor shifting as she rolled her shoulders and put her helmet on

good to know it's not just me feeling if...something about this place out a dreaded feeling in me...like as if death is watching and pondering its next move ...

Her voice came out through the speakers, walking forward she felt the sand hit her armor then the heat as she walked past avin feelimg someone she knew nearby as her eyes narrowed

if this storm gets any worse we will have to rely on our other eyes

Dorin stood amidst the flurry, scarf whipping about in the wind. Almost as if on cue, the winds died down, and visibility was slowly restored. He spoke, with a slight modulation due to his own helmet. "Not a storm, so much as a flurry. The valley is one giant funnel, ejects a breeze at high velocity up here. Plus your starship did nothing to help." He eyed the green Twi'lek for a moment, before turning to address the three that had joined him on the bluff. "My thanks for arriving on such a short notice, and my further thanks for agreeing to render aid, in whatever form you chose to do so." Dorin turned to the one with glowing eyes, his own narrowing slightly under his helmet. Vulpesen. He hoped the man hadn't earned a name like that through dishonest means. Dorin was no linguist to be sure, but he knew a fox when he heard it.

"I am Dorin, of the House of Arkx. Member of a now dead order of Force-Cursed. I found this place while seeking answers. Answers about who exterminated my people like rats, and who established the Order all those years ago." He focused his attention to the other male that had joined them, a companion of the Twi'lek it seemed. "Somewhere beneath us is a stronghold once owned by a Dark Lord of the Sith. I'm sure most, if not all of us, can feel the remnants of whatever dark deeds he committed while below." He turned and pointed to one of the other bluffs as he continued. "I believe the entrance is over that direction somewhere. And unless there are more questions, perhaps we'd best find it, and get inside out of the sand flurries."

Curtis had received the transmission almost by accident. He had not been meaning to, but with some short time away from his master, he decided that exploring the galaxy might help fuel his anger for the smaller things, make him that little bit stronger. That was when he found it. A signal that told of immortality. The Sith had wasted decades trying to find the secret for long life, and if Curtis found it... Well, he could leap from acolyte to lord very quickly. So he followed the signal, out into the deserts of Tatooine, where the only thing worse than the Kryat Dragons was the unending heat.

He travelled for what seemed like days, having to stop regularly to unblock his speeder engines of sand. Blasted sand, it really did get everywhere. But he arrived on time, where the message led him, and it seemed he was not alone. Three other people had gathered around the caller, and all of the gathered seemed to have a connection to the force. It was clear that Curtis was the least adept of them all, but he had his own tricks. Parking the speeder a few feet from the others, he unstrapped his swordstaff from the side and walked over, all the while feeling the intense dark side energy that surrounded them. Maybe that would level the playing field a bit.

"I hope I am not too late, you picked quite the place to have this meeting after all, not easy to get to. But where are my manners, Curtis Learchin, at your service." Now that he was closer, he got a good look at all of them. The armoured man was the caller from what he could tell, and gave off an aura of dread, like he knew something about all this that Curtis and the others didn't. The two aliens seemed powerful, more powerful than most force users he'd encountered, maybe as powerful as his master. And lastly, a Jedi. There was no doubt in Curtis' mind about that, he would have to keep a watchful eye on him.

He had at first been slightly taken off guard when arriving at the bottom of the ramp. For one thing, he recognized one of the men and when he heard the name as they were talking it clicked into his mind. If he remembered clearly Vulpessen had some sort of connection to the Republic or at least he had overheard the name once or twice. As for the other man, Avin's interest was more sufficiently peaked. Armour was not uncommon especially nowadays with the rise of more wars but this was unlike anything he had seen, it was a lighter more finessed coating than that of any Mandalorian plate. Alas, Avin stood and listened intently to what he had to say.

As the man came to stop speaking Avin looked over towards Stardust but was unable to say anything before the speeder seemingly appeared out of the sand dunes beyond. Even before the vehicle had come to a stop a shivering feeling started to creep towards Avin. For certain breeds of dogs, their smell is enhanced for hunting. For Avin, his senses were refined to the hunting of the dark. Avin eyed the man sternly upon his approach, he knew from his own experience that not all Darksiders were sith but nonetheless one such as this within their midst would be most disturbing. Lastly, it didn't help even the Jedi could feel an untapped surge of dark energy pulse from the surroundings below them. He allowed himself to fall back into the mindset of vaapaad, embracing the darkness yet pushing it away and back into itself allowing it to run over him and not through him.

"It is good to meet you all. I am Avin Starfire, Jedi Knight of the New Republic. This is Queen Stardust Australis Skirae of Imahalayan." His hand ushered towards his companion.

Avin turned to the armored individual who had called them here.

"We came as soon as possible and now after explantation, it sounds as if the situation is most serious. You have my sympathies for what happened to your people. I come to lend any assistance to you that I can."

He turned next to face the newly approached individual.

"I believe you are just in time, Master Dorin was just informing us of the situation. I'm sure we could probably catch you up on the walk. For now, if no one has any objections I would like to get out of this sandstorm."

The people gathered, stardust mearused up each including one with the taint of the dark side and her sense tensed as she eyes him with fire held back before glancing to the man who had called them here as she chuckled nodding

as he said, queen stardust Australis skirae of imahalayan master of the force

Looking towards vulps she nodded her head with a smile on her face before looking towards the armored man interested in his armor but refocused

whoever has done this to your people they will be punished...as for this place I'm certain we can uncover it's secrets

"Late again, Meredydd", Abigail mumbled to herself from under her scarf, swarming her own mind with memories of her old sergeant. Shivers still ran down her spine when she thought about the man, even here, in the extremely hot sun.

It wasn't her fault those fething bandits tried to double cross her! Transport to Tatooine in exchange for a fair price. It had been a great deal... well, at least Abby still had all of her credits now. She was just a bit late. No matter, it would give her an opportunity to see who she would be meeting. She would catch up with them rather easily... probably anyway.

Alright, so it seemed that, as expected, a group had already been formed. She didn't care that much, she was already more than happy she had been able to find the bloody place. After a bit of a clumsy run through the sand she caught up with the others.

"Greetings," she simply said, her voice muffled by her scarf. She wore protective clothing, completely covering her body and face, causing her identity to be somewhat of a mystery to most of the people present. But after eyeing the individuals in the group a bit, her heart suddenly dropped. She probably wasn't allowed to be here, especially if you were to ask her mom. Not that that had been a problem originally. But... she recognized two who would probably recognize her as well were they given the chance. Avin Starfire, who she knew because of the Republic, and Vulpesen, who she knew because of... different reasons.

Oh oh, this was bad. Luckily she had the scarf hiding her face, or the others would've immediately noticed something was up. Alright, calm down. Just play it cool. Easy.

"I'm glad I managed to get here without arriving too late", she added.

Michal Couldn't believe the sound of this transmission, Immortality? Seemed like it was impo@Vulpesenssible that there was a ship that held that secret. After contemplating wheter it was right or wrong to join in he decided to get involved and rented a speeder. About thirty minutes later there was a large group gathering close to the coordinates that the transmission had came from.

"Hello there!" Michal said with a smile. "By any chance are you here for that transmission too?"

They didn't seem to be your average scavvers. So he wasn't sure how they'd react to unexpected company. He was ready to draw his blaster if any of them attacked him.

Dorin offered a slight bow towards the Twi'lek as she introduced herself as a Queen. His eyes narrowed considerably. Of course. Nobles. He neither liked them, nor trusted them. He opened his mouth to say something in response to her vow that those that attacked and killed his people would face justice, but was interrupted by the arrival of two more individuals. They just kept coming. He watched them silently for a second, before addressing the male, "I was the one that sent it. So yes, I would say I'm here for it." He turned and began trudging through the sand towards the bluff he had indicated earlier. "We'd best get inside before the next squall comes through. Unless you lot enjoy digging sand out of your asses..."

This would perhaps be the most difficult part of the venture, excluding whatever automated defenses they might find below. Tatooine had a way of swallowing things that weren't meant to be there, and the entrance to this stronghold was likely no exception. He didn't even know what he was looking for. But, never one to miss an opportunity, he decided to fill the rest of the group in as he scoured the rock face for anything resembling a hidden entrance, be it hidden by man or entropy.

"Don't know a whole lot about this place. Hardly even know who it belongs to. I only found it because of a shipping manifest from an organization called Octarchy. Seems Verros, the Sith I've been tracking, worked with or for them at one point, going so far as to command the entirety of Octarchy's fleet for a short time during the Zakuul War. None of that specified what was here, but I do know for a fact he considered it a stronghold. Strong enough that his son was to come here should he need to escape Zakuul. So I would expect this place to be somewhat well guarded. Hopefully after five thousand years everything inside is inert, but..." Dorin let that thought trail off as he extended a hand in front of him, reaching out with the Force. Surely if it was a stronghold designed by a Sith, the Force would play a part in revealing its secrets...

Curtis nodded at the armoured man, keeping pace alongside him, using his staff as a walking aid through the sand. The others hadn't shown direct hostility to him yet, a surprise to be sure given the state of the galaxy. Whatever they were looking for was hidden beneath not only the rock, but under the dark side energy that slipped from every crack in the stone.

"You guys feel it too I assume, the dark side is powerful here. Maybe only a Sith can unlock it?" He posed the question for two reasons. Firstly to see what the others thought of the suggestion, and secondly to see how they'd react to such a direct reference to the Sith. He had all but confirmed his allegiance now, however these were strange and desperate times. If they took issue, they could attack him, but doing so would remove their purest connection to the dark side. Curtis was an asset.

Shivers ran down her spine as she saw the entity around her grow restless, spinning around her in a fast motion. The Dark Side was strong here, and a presence Abigail wasn't quite fond of.

She carefully observed the man who spoke. So it was true. He was a Sith. Of course she would be confronted by having to tag along with one. The man did have a point though; he might be needed if they were to find whatever was going on here. Their journey would be the same, but their goals were different, that she was sure of.

"I doubt it," she spoke, her voice still unrecognisable thanks to her scarf," but we cannot rule out the possibility."

This was all she would say to the Sith. Deep inside she knew that this alliance wasn't going to last forever. They would be tested, and the final test would present itself in the form of their goal, and what they intended to do with it.

Vulpeen watched quietly as everyone spoke, his eyes shining brightly under his hood while his arms crossed befor ehim. Such a diverse group, he could only hope that they wouldn't be tearing out eachother's throats before they reached their prize. Though, with the ambition of the sith in the mix, and the dogma of the jedi, he wouldn't be surprised if the prize caused a rather violent skirmish in of itself. How nice it was to be a neutral party in the war of light and dark. Though, he had to admit that his own plans for whatever this spirit was, might step on a few toes depending on how all this played out.

"Any being guilty of genocide, by the Vitae code, is to be exterminated. A pleasure to meet all of you. For those I haven't met, I'm Vulpesen Torrevaso, Valde of Veradune and the Vitae Alliance. Miss Scarf over there-" he spoke, casting Abigail a knowing look. He was a master of the living force, adept at sensing all forms of life and discerning those he had met from a stranger. He almost had to laugh at her struggle to hide from him, though he refused to let the discovery show on his own face to the others. "Is correct that a sith being the key is unlikely, though again, it is still a possibility. I know enough of the dark arts, I could possibly aid in such an endedavor, but Mister Learchin, this is your culture. I'll let you take point on getting us in there, unless our host as some ideas of his own." His eyes then turned to Dorin Arkx, searching for an answer to his final inquiry. In truth, he knew a bit more than a few tricks, having spent years among the sith himself, but the present company didn't need to know about his sordid past. Most of them were complete strangers.

Dorin didn't pay much mind to the chatter around him, instead focusing on the wall before him. He searched for a moment before stating, "A very likely possibility, young Learchin. However," His hand snapped closed in a fist, and there was an audible crunch. Part of the wall shifted, and Dorin turned to it, pulling the hidden entrance open. "I do believe such things will be unnecessary." He gazed down the dark hallway, into what seemed to be a maintenance corridor. He stepped aside, turning to the assembled group. "Again. Be careful within. We're looking for a ship, likely in the hanger. Though I think I speak for all involved that there may be more to find here than just that. We're standing on thousands of years of history, it'd be a shame to waste it."

Dorin's faceless helmet turned to Curtis for a moment, almost as if he were talking directly to him with that statement. He didn't trust any of them yet, the Sith less so. But...If what he thought was right, he'd need all the help he could get before all was said and done. His attention turned to [member="Vulpesen"] and he posed a question, what he said having just dawned on him. "One genocide for another? Makes one wonder where guilt begins and justified genocide begins. And if the people that killed mine had a good reason to do so." A breeze began to pick up, and Dorin looked down the valley. "Best get inside. Squall's about to start again."

hmmmm...the dark side could lead us towards it..if the thing is dark side but your not the only one who could

The fact a Sith was nearby was...unnerving. but stardust had that thinking, some sith are not like all sith. Stopping she looked towards Dorian and watched the wall break as she chuckled

well then let's see what secrets may lie within this ancient place?

She stopped and looked towards the Sith then forward as she spoke towards [member="Curtis Learchin"]

I must ask, what drew you towards the dark side? I understand if you wish to not tell...but I figure might as well ask

The distrust surrounding him had grown, but at least he was still in one piece. Between the clear disgust of [member="Avin Starfire"] and [member="Abigail Meredydd"], the suspicion of [member="Stardust Australis Skirae"], [member="Vulpesen"] and [member="Dorin Arkx"], and the general carelessness of [member="Michal Straden"], Curtis definitely felt somewhat threatened. He was confident in his abilities, but not so confident that he'd face off against all of them and hope to survive. Nevertheless, whatever was within the hidden fortress would require them to work together, and if he were lucky, he might find something of worth inside.

As Dorin opens the way and directs an armoured glare at him, Curtis grips his swordstaff tighter. He could feed off their anger towards him, in combination with the anger within himself and the power that surrounded them, that would help if they decided he was no longer needed. As he began to walk further into the newly opened passage, and to his surprise, he was asked a question in a somewhat calm manner. He turned to see the Twi-lek standing beside him.

"The dark side is all I have known, it gives me power and I would not wish to lose it." He spoke bluntly, mainly because he didn't want to start digging into his own past to justify himself. He knew that there were other ways to use the force, but they did not appeal to him, they did not offer the power he would need to destroy the man who took away the only family he had known.

Dorin waited until the rest of the group had ventured inside, then pulled the door shut behind them. "Just don't get any ideas, Dark Side. You're here to help find this...Well of Souls, and nothing more." He turned, eyes adjusting to the dim passageway. Well, dim for him. If only for the benefit of the others, he activated a glowrod, holding it aloft as he led the way down the tunnel. The passage curved along what Dorin judged to be the bluff wall, before sloping down towards another door. It hung open slightly, allowing Dorin to reach in, and push the door open.

Beyond lay what was once a balcony. A lounge, from the looks of things. The room was in complete disarray. A fight had happened here. Dorin paused in the doorway as his eyes adjusted, and he realized that the room was dotted with statues. No. Armor. Dorin pushed the door open the rest of the way. "What in the name of the gods..." He stepped closer, inspecting the nearest suit of armor. A simple affair. Sith in origin, no defining markings, probably a guard of some kind. On a whim, he pushed the suit of armor over, and it toppled, clattering to the ground. A lightsaber broke free of the hand, and skittered off across the floor, as parts of the armor broke apart, finally succumbing to age and decay.

What caught Dorin's attention was the bones within. It had been a person. "Something happened here....These...these were people." He turned to the rest of the group. "We should probably try to restore power, give us a better idea of what's going on in here. Learchin, I want you in my sight at all times. That aside, does someone want to volunteer?"
