HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Specters were conceived in the aftermath of Ivalyn Yvarro’s assassination attempt, an event that exposed vulnerabilities within the Commonwealth's security apparatus. As Grand Vizier, Ivalyn realized the need for a preemptive force capable of identifying and neutralizing threats before they could manifest. Drawing inspiration from her father, Djorn Bline, one of the New Imperial Order’s most effective operatives known as "The Snake," she sought to create a force embodying his principles of deception, precision, and fear.

The Specters were officially sanctioned under the Commonwealth Special Operations Division, a covert branch answerable only to the Grand Vizier and select members of the military high command. Their existence was kept highly classified, with the majority of the Commonwealth military and leadership unaware of their operations.

  • Early Stages: The program began with extensive research into First Order remnants, past projects, and historical projects such as dark troopers and purge troopers.
    • Commonwealth scientists and engineers reverse-engineered technology and techniques while introducing bioengineering advancements and cybernetic augmentation.
  • Recruitment:
    • Recruits were drawn from the Commonwealth's most skilled operatives, defectors from rival factions, and even prisoners deemed suitable for rehabilitation.
    • They underwent a rigorous vetting process and were subjected to psychological reconditioning to ensure absolute loyalty.
  • Training and Augmentation:
  • Operatives were trained in espionage, infiltration, assassination, and psychological warfare.
  • Augmentations included enhanced reflexes, strength, and neural targeting systems, along with the implantation of control chips to suppress emotional responses.

The Specters operate under the philosophy of preemptive action, engaging in missions that prioritize destabilizing enemies and maintaining the Commonwealth's dominance without open conflict. Their tactics involve a combination of stealth, sabotage, and psychological manipulation, making them a force of terror as much as combat.

  • Psychological Warfare: The Specters were designed not just to eliminate enemies but to leave an indelible mark on those who survived. Cryptic symbols, staged horrors, and the spread of disinformation amplify their impact.
  • Secrecy: Missions are classified, and operatives rarely, if ever, return to civilian life. The Specters' existence is a ghost story, known only to those who have witnessed their work or been deemed high-ranking enough to understand their purpose.
The Grand Vizier’s Directive (Circa 903 ABY):
Following her recovery, Ivalyn issued the official directive for the creation of the Specters. She leveraged her father’s knowledge and First Order data to design a force entirely loyal to her vision of a stable, unshakeable Commonwealth.

Operation Black Veil (904 ABY):
The Specters’ first major operation involved the neutralization of a rogue Commonwealth governor suspected of conspiring with outside factions. The Specters infiltrated his palace, assassinated key members of his staff, and left cryptic marks that incited fear among his allies, leading to their capitulation without further bloodshed.

The Phantom Rebellion (905 ABY):
During a rebellion in a distant Commonwealth sector, Specter teams were deployed to infiltrate insurgent cells. By spreading misinformation and eliminating leadership figures, they dismantled the rebellion from within without the need for open warfare.

Rivalry with the Sons of the White Wolves:
As their roles occasionally overlap, tensions have arisen between the Specters and the Sons of the White Wolves. While the Sons maintain a public face and honor-driven ethos, the Specters’ morally ambiguous and clandestine methods starkly contrast, leading to occasional friction.

The Specters remain one of the Commonwealth’s most controversial yet effective units. While their existence ensures unparalleled preemptive control and stability, their methods and secrecy invite ethical debates within the Commonwealth’s leadership. Ivalyn Yvarro continues to refine their purpose, aware that the Specters reflect both her greatest strength and the lingering shadow of her father’s paranoia. Her paranoia.

Ivalyn without fully realizing it has become more like her father, or rather as she might phrase it. "Long Live the Order."
