The start of something interesting

Gherron sat aboard his ship, leaning back in the captain's chair while he fiddled with a few pieces of tubing and wire. The ship was in orbit around Tholaran, where he and his padawan, Rael, had just finished a mission. Speaking of which... "Hey Rael!" Gherron sat up, walking over to the kaleesh's quarters. He wanted to know how well he was adapting to the room. Hopefully, it was enough. Knocking on the door, he waited patiently for an answer.

Rael was sitting on the bed, recovering from the last mission. He hadn't been hurt, but not to say his armor and hadn't taken a few hits. The Jedi Padawan had recently build a personal set of black armor, made of durasteel plating with an armorweave underlay and cloak. He was quite proud of it, actually. The Kaleesh struggled with most technologies, and everything on this ship was completely foreign to him. He'd only just begun to adapt to the doors and compads. As he sat looking at his deconstructed lightsaber on the bed, he had taken his mask off. Rael didn't do it often, but he needed to relax some. His yellow eyes probed the lightsaber for whatever was calling the problem. Ah, there it is...he thought. There was something stuck inside of the emitters, causing it to not work. He cleaned it out, and quickly recombined the lightsaber with the Force.

Rael felt Gherron coming before he heard the knock. The Kaleesh was becoming rather adept at telepathy, something he was proud of. Quickly, he put his mask back on, and adjusted his robes. As Gherron was about to knock, Rael would open the door. "Did you need something, master?"

"Just wondering how you're settling in, is all", Gherron called in. He was well aware of how Rael was on technology, so he had reason to wonder this. The ship was, after all, constantly being updated, some of the updates by Gherron himself. While he was tech-savvy, his padawan was not. If anything, he'd help however he could.

"Ah, I'm doing fine, thank you. The room is nice. Comfortable bed, a nice desk, and an interesting little meditation corner." Rael turned around and looked at his room. He tossed his doublebladed saber back onto his bed. He moved to walk past Gherron, out into the hall. He tried to close the door behind him, but his clawed fingers had trouble with the panel. He grunted, frustrated, and started walking to the cockpit. He called out behind to Gherron, "So, anything else we need to deal with while we're out here?" As he entered the cockpit, he looked around. What is all this...? To a trained pilot, the would see engine control, communication panels, a hyperdrive computer. All Rael saw was some metal and blinking lights. He sat in the copilots chair, and looked around at the controls.

He twiddled his fingers, racking his mind as he tried to figure out what the various controls did. Deciding on a button, he pushed it. A static buzz came through the ships comms, and he looked around, trying to find a source. "...mayday....*static*....Captain Roberts....*static*....the Interstellar...*static*....under attack, many casualties...." Rael's eyes widened as the message cut out. "G-gherron....did you hear that?"

This just came on pandora while I was typing, really engaging for the situation!

Gherron chuckled as he watched his padawan struggle with the door, before eventually closing it and walking out to the cockpit. The wonder and confusion shone evidently in his eyes. Standing back, he watched as the younger Jedi pushed a button, when immediately, a distress signal rang out. Eyes widening for a second, he held down the comms button, speaking into it. "This is Jedi knight Gherron Vael of the Republic, we hear you loud and clear. We're on our way. Rael, strap yourself in." Sliding into the pilot's chair, he plotted a course for the location of the distress call, immediately afterward going into hyperdrive. They needed to get there, and fast. Who knew how long the crew had.

Rael quickly did as Gherron said, and strapped himself into the copilot's chair. "That was real?!" Rael thought about what the message said. 'Pirates.' He knew there was going to be a fight. "I'll have to go get my gear once we're there." He started to calm himself down. A Jedi did not allow himself to become agitated with the thought of a fight. He needed to save his adrenaline and energy for the defense of the Interstellar, not panicking about its safety. He braced himself as the ship jumped into hyperdrive. Rael observed the ship's functions as they flew, he was truly trying to figure it out, but he had absolutely no clue.

"There won't be time, Rael. We don't know how long they have left." Gherron had come to the same conclusion his padawan had. Pirates. He had a distinct hatred for them. The way they killed and robbed without remorse or reason. They stood for the exact opposite of what he did. he protected the innocent, while they murdered them. He couldn't finish his thought completely, as the ship came out of hyperspace, showing two other ships, one looking badly damaged. The larger one, a rustic-looking scrap of metal, seemed to have cargo going in-between them, a small set of tractor beams keeping the smaller one in place. "We have to get aboard. Brace yourself." Aiming straight for the pirate vessel, he rammed into it, soon after docking with it. In a flash, Gherron's belt came off, and he headed directly for the exit, lightsaber already in hand.

"I don't have my lightsaber!" As soon as they cam out of hyperdrive, Rael jumped out of his seat. He ran halfway to his room, and held out his hand. He used the thoughts of the people on board the Interstellar dying. The door flew open with via the Force, and his lightsaber flew off Rael's bed. Thank the gods the Padawan was at least in his Jedi robes, and not in his underwear. Rael jerked as the two ships collided, and stumbled to the ground. As Gherron ran by, he jumped up, and followed him. As the docking door opened, Rael ignited his lightsaber. There were two pirates in the hall of the next ship. They too, seemed to have been fazed by the impact. The stumbled to their feet at seeing the Jedi, and one fired at Rael, the other at Gherron.

Before the pirate fired at Rael, he was already bringing his blade up. He hit the bolt back towards the pirate, and watched as it hit him in the chest, and he fell to the floor. Rael looked to his master, watching what he would do. Rael sent a wave of telepathic energy out around the ship. It was the first time he had ever done something like that, but he did it instinctively. Briefly, he felt other minds in the two ships, most were onboard the Interstellar. "We need to get to that other ship!"

Gherron realized he was gripping his saber so hard, his knuckles were white, and his teeth gritted. He was angry. Taking a few deep breaths, he let it out. The last thing he needed was for Rael to watch him go over the edge. Finally registering what his padawan said, he nodded, pointing down the hallway, where the dock to the other ship must be. "Let's go."

There was another pirate guarding the door. Rael hit him over the head with the butt of his lightsaber, knocking him out. He raced into the hallway. The inside of the Interstellar would clearly have been nicer than of the pirate ship's, if it hadn't been under siege. The end of a hall way ended in a T shaped intersection. Rael looked to the right, and then the left. Each corridor was empty, but quickly turned a corner. "You go left, I'll go right?" Without waiting for a response, Rael started sprinting down the right corridor.

Gherron nodded and headed down the left corridor. There were a few pirates in his way, which he quickly dispatched by a quick force push against the wall to knock them out. One thing he noticed were several dead bodies that were obviously not pirates. Keeping his breath steady, he called out to any possible survivors. "Hello?!" His voice was met by a small squeak somewhere under some wreckage. Picking some off, he instantly noticed the blue skin of a young twi'lek girl. "Rael, come help!"

Rael, too, had come across a few bodies. All were dead. He turned at his master's call. The Kaleesh ran back down the hallway, and quickly found Gherron. He felt the presence of another being closeby, and he shut off his lightsaber. He moved over to where Gherron and the blue arm were, and quickly began pulling debris off of her. A young twi'lek face emerged, and she appeared to be unconscious. "Let's get her out of there."

Gherron nodded, already working on the larger pieces of debris. Being careful not to cause any more damage, he went as fast as he could without actually harming the girl. When she was free of the wreckage, he checked her pulse. "She's still alive. We've gotta get her out of here. Any other survivors?"

"None that I saw. Looks like no one else here is." Rael looked around the hallway, trying to see where it might go. "We should try to wake her up first. She might know where other survivors are. There are probably more up near the bridge..." Rael paused, and closed his eyes. He placed a hand on her forehead, and crouched there for a few seconds. Quickly, he found himself in a place of meditation. The Kaleesh still didn't understand the possible potential of telepathy. The ability seemed to come rather naturally to him. He tapped into the Force, and used it's energy. He didn't share a bond with this girl like he did with Gherron, and he knew communication with her was going to be harder. 'Wake up...' He called to her. It took quite a bit of Rael's energy, and he didn't know if it even worked. The girl gasped, and her eyes fluttered open. She still looked weak, but at least she was awake.

Gherron nodded at his padawan in thanks when the young girl woke up. "Rael, go check the bridge for survivors." Turning his attention back to the twi'lek, he looked her over, trying to gauge if she had any broken bones. From what he could tell, she didn't. "Hey, can you hear me? I'm Gherron. Are you okay?"

The girl's eyes fluttered a little, like she was struggling to stay awake. "My father. You have to find my father..." Gherron winced at that. They hadn't found any survivors yet, and he couldn't recall seeing another twi'lek. "We'll find him, don't worry. Just stay still."

Rael nodded and started running for the bridge. He came across a large, round door, and fumbled with its controls. Finally, the door flew open, revealing the bridge. The Kaleesh walked in, his yellow eyes observing the horror around him. There were about 5 pirates spread around the bridge. A sixth stood near the center, wearing heavy armor, a long blaster rifle in his arms. In front of him, sat the remaining officers of the ship. All eyes flew to the Padawan as he came in. "Ah..." Said the leader of the pirates. His voice came out metallic from underneath his helmet. "A Jedi. Interesting." Rael looked at the survivors. A young man, with a rough beard. Probably the Interstellar's captain. A middle aged woman in an officer's outfit, and an older, blue male twi'lek.

The pirate goonies pointed their blasters at Rael, and their leader shot the woman held hostage, and she collapsed to the ground. "You're a monster." Rael called out. He probed into the Force, feeling around for Gherron. 'You need to get up here. Now.' "Why thank you!" A metallic laugh came from the pirate leader.

Gherron received the message instantly, feeling the intensity through it. His padawan was in trouble. "I'll be right back. Stay still, okay? I'll be right back!" Getting up, he took off in the direction of the bridge, trying to block out the young girl's cry of 'don't leave me!' Igniting his saber, he was soon at Rael's side, examining the deck. Laying his eyes on the man in the middle, he instantly picked him out as the captain. "Why?" His steel grey eyes bored into that of the pirate's, his voice low and monotone.

"Haha! Two of you!" He shot Captain Roberts, leaving only the male twi'lek. "Stand down. You cannot win." Rael said. He had previously had his lightsaber lowered, but as soon as Gherron came in, he raised it in a Soresu stance, hands raised over his head, blade pointed down, and left foot forward. "Can't you see you're outnumbered? A pair of Jedi will make a nice trophy...go on, attack you idiots!" The pirate screamed the last part at his goons, and they started opening fire at the two Jedi. Rael brought his blade in a series of small swipes, quickly hitting away three shots.

Gherron stayed silent through the whole encounter, keeping his eyes on the captain. When he called his men to attack, however, he was forced to focus on the blaster fire now hurtling at him and his padawan. Knocking aside a few strikes, he deflected one into the chest of a pirate, and another into the upper shoulder of his friend. Each fell down, allowing the knight to step forward a few feet, his glare returning to the captain. "I really don't like pirates. You scum think you can just take anything you want, huh?" He was in the man's face now, blade pointed to his chest. Gherron didn't care about anything else then. It was just him, and the murderer.

Rael hit a shot back into the pirate that fired it, and started walking towards the other one. The Kaleesh he a few of his shots to the side, and by then he was finally close enough to strike the man to the ground. He looked to Gherron, watching as he confronted the pirate. It was then that Gherron saw the young twi'lek girl come in. "Dad!" She shouted, it was a weak shout. She was limping, and clutched her side. Rael ran over to her. "You shouldn't be here." He tried his best to hold her up as the fight went on.

"I CAN take whatever I want!" The pirate bellowed it. He fired three quick shots from his blast rifle, then rushed at Gherron, swinging the gun at him.
