Kahlil smirked just a little as he laid out under Valery's guidance. Rested his arms under his head to just smirk a knowing smirk as he leaned into her hand. Kissed her palm just a little once she pilled away. "I'd rather not, if we can help it. But I'm not opposed to this part of it all."

"Not opposed, hm?" Valery smirked and looked him in the eyes while he rested his hands under his head. "Don't get too relaxed, babe. It's time to stop talking and use those hands..." she spoke in a seductive whisper, then leaned in for one of the more passionate kisses they'd share that night. A kiss that would ignite a lot more between the two Nobles now that things had calmed down a bit.

"Wow."

Valery blushed and chuckled at her own comment while she laid on her back with the sheets tightly wrapped around her. She was breathing heavily and resting atop a messy bed of her own hair, but she couldn't feel more relaxed at the same time. Her gaze searched for her husband's, and she offered him a loving smile.

"So uh, I'm not too agitated towards Marigold, right?" She laughed a little about bringing that up now, but that was one of his comments that really stuck with her.

That and her being too black and white. It's the big thing she had wanted to change about herself after learning that her old views on Sith and the Dark Side were far too extreme.

"You're incredibly agitated by Marigold. I'm actually still trying to figure out why." Kahlil glanced to Valery from where he laid beside her, holding her close to him with his own, faint smile. The high of the night wasn't something so easy to wipe away, even if the subject had again turned to something more serious. He leaned over, kissing the top of her head before again pulling her close to cuddle against him.

"We've faced down literal destroyers of worlds and the cruelest slavers. She doesn't just upset you. I didn't think I'd see that side of you.. Ever. Not that kind of frustrated anyway."

Valery blinked then frowned a little. She was self-aware enough to know that she had been annoyed with Marigold, but was it really this bad? She didn't want her husband to feel like she was being too much, not when it came to a Padawan who might also rely on her one day. That probably worried her the most.

She snapped out of those thoughts, however, when he kissed her forehead and wrapped her up in his arms to cuddle. To her, it was a gentle reminder that even with discussions like this, he would never stop loving her. "I'm...sorry. I really shouldn't have been like that to her, or to you." She glanced up and pressed the side of her face against his chest for warmth and comfort.

"I don't know. Maybe a part of it is just that I've been through her hell too, and her way of handling it just...struck a nerve." She sighed and tightened her embrace a little. "I don't know what's up with me, but I don't want to make things harder on you. I want to help you."

"Nothing is more important to me than being there for you and others."

"You've nothing to be sorry about. It just.. Took me by surprise. I didn't realize you could be so.." He was trying to think of the word. A nice word, not a mean one. He frowned, falling even deeper in that thought process before just letting out a heavy sigh. "It feels off to see you behave that way. At least when we're trying to be Jedi together." He tightened his embrace in a similar way, once again smiling none the less.

"I appreciate it, though. More than you know. And I do feel the same."

Childish? Annoying? Difficult?

She was physically bracing herself for whatever he'd say by holding onto his embrace. But he wouldn't say something mean to her - it was silly that she even worried about it to begin with. He was still honest about it feeling off though, and she appreciated hearing it from him. She wouldn't have accepted it from anybody else.

She had to hear it from someone this close to her.

"I know you will always be there for me. You...have proven that so many times. Whenever I struggle or something bad happens, you're always so calm and so strong. I really don't know how I got through everything before I met you anymore." Valery rolled on top of him now. With him on his back and her right on top to rest her head on his chest, and just underneath his chin.

"I worry about it sometimes, you know. I feel like I'n always leaning on you so much. But...do you feel like you can lean on me too?"

"I'm not good at talking, not about myself."

Kahlil laid his head back, looking up at the ceiling. He set his hand on her arm, gently tracing over her skin. Idle runes, just to give his hands something to do. "It's something I'm working on. But I've always leaned on you when I have to. More than you know it seems. We're partners in this, in everything. So don't doubt that, alright?"

"Well, that makes two of us. I feel... uncomfortable talking about my problems to just about anybody, even after all these years of being able to." She sighed and remained quiet for a moment to keep herself calm. The way his hands gently moved over her arms helped a lot with that, as it always did.

"Well, except for you, of course." She chuckled and looked up at him while he stared at the ceiling. To draw his attention, she climbed up just a little and kissed his cheek, "I am glad you feel like you can lean on me though, and I'm happy to hear that you already are. But...is anything on your mind? Something you felt you haven't been able to talk about properly?" Her tone was more gentle and inviting this time.

It was okay if he didn't have anything. Just if he did...she wanted to listen and talk.

"...I also hope you're not about to set me on fire with these runes you're drawing on me." She grinned and poked his chest.

Kahlil smirked very wide as he glanced down towards Valery. He wouldn't elaborate, but he did continue to trace the runes over her skin regardless. They didn't actually do anything, of course.

"But something to talk about? No, nothing else anyway. Talking to you about what we did before all.. This, was all I had o- no, wait. No, there is one thing." He grimaced, just a little. "The Senate. With the war, I'll have to talk to them far more. I don't look forward to it, honestly."

"No, just a little hot and bothered."

By the time he looked down at her, Valery had already buried her face into his chest. It didn't hide her red ears, and he could feel how hot and bothered she really was through their bond as well. She was always terrible at trying to hide it, and he knew that. It's probably exactly why he poked at her like this.

But she loved it.

Valery then looked back up when he mentioned the Senate and tilted her head. She wasn't going to judge him, knowing how infuriating the senate could be, but it was surprising that it bothered him the most out of everything. Though...it was also a relief. There were far worse things to be concerned about, and none of it applied to their lives anymore.

They were safe, and so were the kids.

"Do you think you can maybe tag along with Alicio or someone else there who you can trust and rely on? I'd go with you, but we both know it's best that I don't. The Jedi need to stand behind their representative." She moved her hands over his chest and drew curls through his hair there with a gentle smile.

"Maybe we can try to prepare you for it more? Or is it just...that you can do it just fine, but hate it?"

"It's their complacency with their own corruption that bothers me the most. They don't care to take away the obvious sabotage and let people who wish only to sow discord speak on their behalf. It's disgusting how little they seem to care."

Kahlil frowned deeply as he stared up at the ceiling. Even that first meeting had made it clear the Senators didn't care to stop their own from suggesting the murder and betrayal of the Jedi.

"It worries me greatly that these are the people left in charge of so many."

"I was a bit shocked to hear how easily some of them were willing to give up the Jedi to the Mandalorians," Valery added to what he said with a frown of her own. "Knowing that it wouldn't have stopped their war path at all." She would have died alongside the others who joined her on Rodia for nothing beyond the personal politics of a few senators. But there was so much more wrong about the Senate, she knew, and he was going to have to deal with it now.

"But I think all of this is why we need a strong representative so much. You... should probably be careful not to throw too much emotion into the meetings, but the fact that you're willing to speak up against them is important." She idly continued drawing circles on his chest with her fingers, while her arms were covered in imaginary runes at this point.

"The most extreme voices are always the loudest, but I don't believe they're a majority. There are good senators out there, too. Alicio, Kel, the Montitia senator — they've all felt reasonable to me. Together, your voices are a lot stronger than the few who sow discord."

"At least, I hope that'll be the case."

"Alicio was one of the few to speak up. But that doesn't matter. Silence, complacency, it makes you just as guilty. If you know someone is doing something wrong and you just sit there and allow it, you're in the wrong. I can understand people who feel powerless, but this is the Galactic Senate. People's leaders letting this go is wrong." Far too wrong. Kahlil narrowed his eyes on the ceiling before letting out a heavy sigh. She was right though. Emotion wasn't going to help. He probably made quite the problem just showing up as he had.

Not that he particularly cared, but it wouldn't help in the long run.

"Kel was one of the ones who entertained the idea of letting you and the others be captured by the Mandalorians."

"I agree. Weak leaders or representatives have been a problem in the Galaxy throughout its history, and it often made things far worse." She had recently been reading up on the Yuuzhan Vong war, mostly to learn about the first Sword of the Jedi. There, a huge lack of trust in the Jedi and politics had made it a lot easier for the invaders to conquer countless worlds. Leaders who sit by and do nothing to address the real threat are as dangerous as the threat itself.

"A good approach to handle them is all the more important because of it," Valery added after his heavy sigh. The palm of her hand now rested against his chest, and she continued to draw comforting patterns over his body. She stopped, however, when he mentioned that Kel had entertained the idea of her capture by the Mandalorians.

But really, it meant her death.

"He... did?" She frowned and let out a sigh with mixed emotions. "Well, I'm no politician, but I know that in these coming years, the things said and done in those senate meetings will determine a lot about our future. I... know you understand that just as well as I do, but be careful, okay? I'm worried that emotion might make you turn them against you more. Or worse... what if they play dirty games?"

She was really hinting at politicial assassinations or attacks.

"If they try to play dirty games, I'll just bring those games to light. Sith play far more intensely than any of these senators anyway." He knew the game. He refused to play it, but he knew the game. Kahlil let out a sigh before glancing down towards Valery again. Gave her a brief smile. The rush of emotions he understood. There was so much trouble with the Senate, especially if friends couldn't be trusted.

"I'll handle it, though. Politics have no place when they put people in danger, so I won't let them play their games."

"I trust you, more than anybody else." She looked up and met his gaze to make sure that he knew. She knew her husband could be very direct and not be as politically correct as most senators, but he was the best for this job. Nobody would stand up against the Senate when it was needed better, and she also knew that he'd be fair to them if they were. Still, she felt like she had a role to play in this as well.

Whenever he'd come home after another senate meeting, she wanted to be there for him with a good mood and a smile. She wanted him to look forward to returning home.

"If you ever do feel like you need any help, I'm there for you too."

"I know. Better than anyone." There was no one who supported him more. Kahlil smiled a little, finally, turning his head to kiss her forehead once again. Just enough to show the loving feelings he had before he set his head back and closed his eyes.

"For now, though, we should sleep. I see a long day tomorrow."

Valery smiled at the forehead kiss and finally decided to roll back onto the bed. As comfortable as it was to be on top of him, she figured he'd want a little bit more freedom to move around at night. She did lean back up into him though, and pulled an arm around herself for warmth.

That way they'd both be comfortable.

"Yeah... it's going to be quite a day. But we'll make it work." She looked over her shoulder and kissed him one more time before she relaxed into his embrace.
