The things we do for a few credits

Cameron's eyes shifted to [member="Crystal"] as she approached. He offered the woman a subtle nod of his head. "It's no matter. The plan has to be altered anyways." The speeder bikes were started up and ready by the time Cameron ahd finisehd his statement. The Nemesis only carried two based on other supplies it routinely held, but that would be enough for their purposes. Motioning to one of the bikes, he gave Crystal his intentions. "The game plan is officially out the window. We have no choice now but to initiate an assault. Reinforcements should be planetside by the time we make contact with the base, I've left instructions for them to be provided with our sensor reports. They're going to be coming in mostly blind from the storm and..."

The erecting of several plumes of smoke signaled that the recon times had set fire to the forest and were beginning a covert advance to the objective area. They were not meant for full frontal assault, more support from the shadows, eliminating targets of opportunity and attempting to prevent Crusade forces from being flanked without knowing it. "...smoke from the fires. We need to go." Casually, Cameron made his way to a speeder bike just as his earpiece communicator crackled to life.

"Lord Centurion, assault shuttles have initiated re-entry. ETA to target is thirty minutes."

So they were running behind a bit. "Very well. You'll need to go aided during approach. We're advancing on primary now." Saying nothing further, Cameron gunned the accelerator and shot into the forest. The Sith Lord would have to rely on advanced senses to keep from...dying as the forest began to burn and crumble around them. The Nemesis itself would depart the ground shortly to establish an air support position.

Crystal nodded. Two bikes. And [member="Azlyn Ike"] would be back on the ship before she angered Cameron further. Kicking in the front door and reinforcements would come soon. Sounded like as good a plan as any. Blind was fun too.

She followed Cameron's lead and hopped onto a speeder bike. Now this wasn't her favorite mode of transportation, so she'd have to keep her wits about her. She wasn't a great driver, but she had the benefit of the Force to keep her from killing herself needlessly.

And they were off. She kept a safe distance from Cameron, but enough speed to not get killed by the burning and falling trees.

As soldiers charged around the base Siara picked her way carefully around the base looking for an armory or something somewhere she could properly equip perhaps with something less conspicuous to give her an opportunity to sneak off the base while they were distracted with whatever was going on up on the surface. She occasionally crossed into the field of view of cameras but only in areas where it absolutely could not be avoided. She knew they would eventually come looking for her so she wanted to leave as small of a trail as possible.

Finding a guarded armory the Kiffar woman took a pass continuing deeper into the base, she could afford to take the risk of getting into fight that would end with her having to make a running escape. She spotted another camera and evaluated the approach watching how it scanned the floor under it she could get around it if she was careful waited for it to cycle across to the opposite side of the room and dashed under the camera waiting patiently for it to pass around to the other side of the room. Siara watched as the camera scanned back were to where she had already passed. She slipped silently down the hallway finding a stairwell she started heading up. She figured this building was underground by the lack of any sort of transparisteel anywhere throughout the areas she had already passed.

Going up a few floors she stepped out into the hallway and found another armory this one only monitored by a camera. It didn’t matter where she walked or how she approached the camera would catch her but it was worth the risk. She passed under the camera turned her blaster up at it and fired into the dome of the camera. Hopefully whoever was monitoring it wouldn’t notice right away and she would get the opportunity to break into the likely secured armory the armor these soldiers wore seemed pretty well manufactured and she doubted this blaster pistol would punch through without a few shots. She wanted something with a bit more kick and perhaps at least some armorweave as hers had been confiscated days earlier.

Working furiously at the lock on the armory door she wasn’t finding much success, at this rate it would be hours before she broke whatever encryption they had on this lock and no doubt every attempt was being logged somewhere popping up red flags on the monitors of whoever was handling security around here. Rather frustrated Siara pulled the blaster out again and fired at the security pad unloading a few shots into the circuitry before testing the door, it gave way giving her access to the equipment inside.

She didn’t recognize any of it other than having seen it the other day when she had been arrested by the soldiers who called this base home. Custom equipment made for higher quality weapons typically but without knowing the capabilities of this equipment she could only guess. She grabbed a carbine off the wall and strapped it over her shoulder as she searched through the rest of the equipment finding a few grenades pocketing them. She couldn’t find any armor or even armorweave that was her size so she would have to go without. She moved to step out of the door again intent on getting off this base.

Tracking the mercenary through the base proved to be harder than Vladimir had anticipated she seemed to be fooling the cameras by doubling back past them without being seen on them. He decided to forgo the technology and just follow his instincts, figuring what he would do if he was in the position the woman was in. He would figure the base was underground pretty quickly and would start moving up so he went back to her last known location and started up towards the surface. His suspicions were confirmed reports came to him that someone was trying to breach the door on an armory a couple floors above. He ordered no one to engage until he was there as he started to double time up the stairs to the floor she was on.

Stepping into the hallway he scanned the area with his blaster held up at a ready position, he was the first one on site and could hear someone rummaging around inside the nearby armory. He approached slowly his carbine held up high enough to get a good shot should anyone step out of the door. He approached and took a quick peek into the room the mercenary woman was coming out and he only had time to react. He pinched off a shot as she took another step forward.

Meanwhile on the surface the squads of soldiers of the Sixth were responding to sensor alerts all over the jungle and apparent fires apparently there enemy intended to smoke them out not considering the rebreathers each soldier had in their armor or the fact that the base could be completely sealed to outside access leaving the occupants to survive on oxygen scrubbers. If they wanted to they could turtle right up and survive within the confines of the base for months without having to break the seals giving allies plenty of time to come to their assistance. That wasn’t the plan for now though they would engage these hostiles and if they could arrest each of them for trespassing.

There were a few minor engagements out in the jungle as the paths of the Crusade’s scouts and the Sixth’s soldiers crossed but so far there was no major engagement. The marines of the Sixth would be prepared for it when it came though. All the walls were being surveyed intently by squads of soldiers, every automated defense was on and scanning the jungle for movement but the sensor net out there would the biggest tool they had working to their advantage. Even as the skies grew dark with the artificial storm being generated by some invisible force out in the jungle the soldiers held their resolve as their comrades out in the field attempted to fight back the flames of the multiple fires started to rage into full grown blazes.
