my answer may answer hers. That's basically what I think happened. You might have been a good writer. Ben must've been better.

The biggest factor of this duel was who had the posts that were the most fun to read, especially since it was so short and there was no fight to judge. So that was it, the crux of the matter is that Ben's posts were more entertaining. I won't wrap it in cotton wool, it's a competition somebody has to be better, somebody has to win.
We read it, and thought your opponent's writing was better. Simple. I won't lie. It was closest out of the four.

Well no. This tournament is as much of an OOC as an IC competition, something that has already been said -before- it was even started.
Even if someone won IC, his/hers opponent could win OOC.
It's all about factors like: sportsmanship, writing quality, creative thinking as much as kicking ass in-character.

It was a good fight, but I was clearly going to be the one to lose. Apprentice vs. Master. Not the best of ways to fight people.
