- Strengths & Weaknesses:
[+]Loyal: As a tribe of Tusken's, the Uru are actually incredibly insular. Generally speaking they are loyal to one thing and one thing alone; each other. However, because of Matthias Thawne's slaying of the Sand Demon and their traditions, Matt is considered a member, and quasi leader of their tribe. Due to this they are incredibly loyal to a fault, following the young Thawne down whatever path he leads them.
[-]Untrained: Due to their nature as a Tusken Tribe, the Uru are not traditionally trained in the arts of war or fighting. They are still more than capable in a combat situation, but it is telling that they do not have the same military discipline as a unit of Stormtroopers. This means that at times the Uru can get rather...out of hand.
[-]Tuskens: Unfortunately the Uru are entirely consistent of Tuskens. As a whole, the Sand People are not known for their adaptive qualities. They are by no means stupid, but they generally do not adopt new technologies. Though the Uru have been coaxed by Matt into utilizing more modern weaponry and armor, they simply do not partake in the use of most other tech. This means The Uru have no pilots, slicers, or anything of that nature.
- Description:
Originally just another Tribe of Sand People, the Uru had and encounter with Matthias Thawne only a short few months before they would enter the larger scene of the galaxy. Living on Tatooine the Uru lived their lives in a relatively normal manner, raiding moisture farmers, going after transports, and surviving however they could and whenever they could.
Though conflict was a common way of life for the Uru, the tribe itself was no more violent than a dozen other Tusken Tribes that survived and thrived on the surface of Tatooine.
This changed with the arrival of Matthias Thawne to the desert world.
Originally traveling to Tatooine not for any purpose related to the Sand People themselves, Matthias nevertheless had an encounter with the Uru upon his journey. While guarding a transport of certain goods across the Tatooine desert, Matthias and his men were ambushed by the Uru, who of course made quick work of the Coratanni Synthetic Enforcers that had accompanied Matt.
The fight went quick, and at the end of it Matthias was taken by the Tribe to be used as a sacrifice. He was kept within the Tribe's village for three days, starved and eventually brought to what the Uru referred to as the Great Pit.
Here Matt was thrown and to be sacrificed to a Sand Demon.
Despite his sorry state, Matt managed to use a Phase-Knife that he had hidden within his possession to slay the terrifying creature. Ending it's life by slicing through it's eye-stalks and eventually puncturing it's thick carapace. This act earned The Uru's undying respect and loyalty, and quite quickly the same men and women who had captured him brought him forth from his pit.
It was from this point on that Matt began to lead the tribe, bringing them modern technology and coaxing them off-world.
Due to their culture this was of course a massive break from tradition, but through Matt's guiding as well as the appeal of the new, the Uru began to develop new rituals that sanctified the things that Matt brought them. This ritual became a new and rather complex tradition, involving Matthias and several elder members of the tribe trekking into the desert to an oasis each time he brought something new. It is only with the blessing of this Oasis that the new technology becomes 'acceptable', and those Tuskens wearing it are able to venture off world without breaking their traditions.
The Uru now work for Matt and by extension the Coratanni Cartel. They raid, kill, and do as he say, bringing a great host of wealth and stolen goods back to Tatooine when they return.
