The Valik Amendment

Currently, the Beskar objective reads like this.

Beskar (( Objective: Perform a mining operation, a raid, an excavation, or steal to obtain Mandalorian Iron Ore from any of the following planets: Mandalore, Concordia, Echo'lya –OR— inflict a devastating defeat on a Mandalorian character and have them verify it. Characters belonging to the Major Faction whose influence covers Mandalore and/or Concordia are exempt from fulfilling this objective.
All tech submissions involving Mandalorians using Beskar will require a forging or construction thread of at least 10 posts where the item is made. Limited or minor production items will require longer dev threads of 20 and 30 posts respectively, or at the discretion of the Factory Judge. ))

I would like to propose it be changed to this. Changes are in red.

Beskar (( Objective: Finish an open development thread in which you acquire beskar on any of the following planets: Mandalore, Concordia, Echo'lya –OR— inflict a devastating defeat on a Mandalorian character and have them verify it. Characters belonging to the Major Faction whose influence covers Mandalore and/or Concordia are exempt from fulfilling this objective.
All tech submissions involving Mandalorians using Beskar will require a forging or construction thread of at least 10 posts where the item is made. Limited or minor production items will require longer dev threads of 20 and 30 posts respectively, or at the discretion of the Factory Judge. ))

It doesn't make sense to force people to undergo illicit mining operations or criminalize themselves in the Mandalorian faction if they want to use more diplomatic means, such as just purchasing it, to acquire it.

The only problem I have with this(beskar outside of the mandos) ICly, and with the Primeval talking about suddenly armoring their elite in beskar with the husk of a mining operation that asteroid of a planet is, is that ICly the shaping and forging of mandalorian iron is a closely guarded and held secret amongst the mandos, and i've seen no one do any work ICly to learn the shaping, capture a smith and extract the info, or anything. I'd like to see something reflect that, as even the wookiepedia entry does state the rarity of smiths who can shape it. But I realize that isn't likely to happen.

This ammendment makes sense, but i'd like to see it go a bit further to reflect the above ICly.

I feel this makes it too easy. No for me.

If you want to do the above amendment you can simply NPC a Mandalorian performing a mining thread then purchase it from said NPC.

The thread is required to be open. Which means, even if it's an NPC, it can still be shut down if the Mandalorians want to shut it down.

If the Mandalorians fail to shut it down for any reason, that's their problem.

I see what you're saying [member="Gerion Ardik"] but my only thing is there are people who won't leave a chance for the mandos to shut it down. Do we force a small time frame where the Mandos should be allowed a chance to shut something down?

I'd say, given the amount of Mandos, twenty-four hours should be long enough.

[member="Gerion Ardik"] Alright I like that, also another note. The way its set up is to prevent an over abundance of beskar being used. Mostly because the history of this board and its users - it goes through fads ie: BESKAR EVERYTHING, SONGSTEEL EVERYTHING, BAUSE SHIPS EVERYWHERE, STUPID FORCE BUBBLE LIZARDS EVERYWHERE. Its more about control than anything xD. Should we leave it up to Mandos to do so?
