The Vast Opportunities of Nothing (First Order only)

OK-3103

The simulation was voluntary, so there was no debrief - just a file sent to his datapad that he could read at his leisure. But before he could open and digest the feedback, a message popped onto his screen - he was being summoned to the research area.

He wondered if he'd done something wrong in the simulation? He didn't believe so, and besides, a dressing-down would be done in private first. Perhaps the officers on deck wanted to see any new recruits? Or perhaps he was just rostered for guard duty?

It was not his way to question the order. It was not the stormtrooper's way. So he simply took the closest turbolift, to present himself for duty.

Sasha shrugged. "I myself am always on duty, and so I've made it my duty to enjoy life." She took another sip of the cool and refreshing whiskey, the vintage of a dead world.

Then Sasha absorbed the more important aspects of the conversation. There was no vong anywhere in Imperial space? What paradise did she arrive at? "Those intel reports would probably suffice. The vong have been an invasive species to this galaxy for long enough that there is a good amount of literature on them. Your intelligence reports probably are complete." At Santhe tower on Lianna she had similar data collected over the last century or so. Sasha glanced between notes and computer screen and then suddenly started to sketch and design with the interface. Inherent understanding of technology. One of Sasha's few gifts with the force allowed her to understand technology and with a few modifications she was able to come up with a basic containment system with automated shut down. "Basic," she said with a frown. "What do you think?

Ovmar raised an eyebrow slightly as she looked at her guest. It wasn't often that others felt they could comment on her life choices as they would. It was... amusing, in a way. Annoying in others. She decided to take a balance between the two.

"I am not always on duty," she said neutrally. That seemed to be the only tone she was capable of, it felt. At least, for now. "Right now is simply extraordinarily busy. We have new doctrines to fullfill, ships to design and build, new technology to research and finalize. When it's all done, there can be time off duty. For now, I am on duty."

As Sasha sketched and designed, Ovmar put in a request for intel data. Could be they had something useful, though that remained to be seen. It couldn't hurt to try, though. The result was a quick one. They wouldn't send the data directly, but they would send hard copies by courier. Unfortunately, the courier, a stormtrooper aboard the station, was coming to her first per his orders so that she could send him instead of the other way around. Sometimes she wondered if their organization system was any better than the Republic's...

Sketch finished, she glanced over and nodded once.

"Similar to our design, but far better quality on the containment system and it fits the housing. How soon can we start installing the upgrades?"

OK-3103 arrived at the lab and wordlessly replaced the trooper assigned there. When not on active duty, troopers were assigned al sorts of activities. And they varied depdning on your standing with the officers in charge. Of late he'd been given the best of the bunch - guard duty. Or rather guard duty at prime locations.

He wondered if this was part of his training, to overhear how officers behaved and to allow him to better understand what was necessary for him to move through the ranks. But he did not let him mind wander and instead stood to attention and listened - although his eyes never wavered from a foxed point in front of him - it was, after all, standard trooper protocol.
