The Wolf Queen
The silence stretches out between the two of them, already knowing what the other was thinking without needing to say anything at all. Matsu had the lead as she took up the rear, her gaze sweeping over their surroundings while keeping her guard up for any disturbances. Notably it is just the opposite of what she had been expecting when they enter the temple, her eyes immediately adjusting to the severe change in lighting as she again surveys the room. Nothing. Her lips tug into a frown, the chill of something to come hanging thick in the air and keeping her on edge. The calm before the storm.
The two women dance around the room, fingers prying and digging past the dirt and grime while finding nothing of value. Just then the silence ceases and out of instinct her fingers wrapping around the hilt of her weapon and gaze trained on the entrance. The anticipation deflates when Bundori appears, her shoulders sagging slightly with disappointment that it was merely the small girl and nothing more. Without a word she turns away, focusing on the task at hand as they continue to search from one room to the next.
The chill drags up her spine like ice and the time for pleasantries has passed, this time she does not hesitate as she pulls out the saber and watching the blaze of red illuminate the room. Bundori’s singsong voice echoes throughout the room while her approach leans toward the quieter side as she makes sweeping arcs, savagely sawing into flesh and bone while watching as body’s rain to the floor. It felt easy, too easy. Swiping her arm over her mouth, blood smears and she tastes the metallic and sneers as she glances over at her Master, eyes sharp and knowing. “We can take them. All of them.” Her voice raw and passionate as she offers her a small nod. “You lead and I’ll follow.” Matsu knew that she would follow her straight into the pits of hell if she asked her to.
